Chameleon Dude.1564

A nice idea, but I genuinely feel that it would be too confusing for the new target audience. The NPE removed a lot of decisions and mechanics earlier on, to help new players adjust to the game – letting them choose their weapon would go against this.

Again, it’s a good idea and I agree with it, but that’s a step back to what the game was; not what it’s becoming.

Gw2 Suggestions - Please change the game

It’s already been said, really: this isn’t a generic fantasy setting – this is Tyria. I’ve said it to mounts, I’ve said it to catgirls and I’ll say it to elves (as much as I love them) – you’re not welcome here. Guild Wars has its own lore and its own races, it’s not WoW or a generic fantasy MMO clone.

First, there are apparently vampires somewhere in GW lore, considering the presence of vampire bats and the Rune of Vampirism. That doesn’t mean that they’re anything like the classic vampire, however.

Also, I just had to reply to this. Vampire bats are a type of bat, not vampires. Vampirism would be linked to necromancy, specifically blood magic. That and vampirism just means draining something. I’m afraid that there are no vampires here.

gem store tools - one for each toon

Chameleon Dude.1564

Yes in another thread I suggested a new tab be added to the hero panel labeled Tools and it would work much like Finishers. Once you unlock a tool, for this example lets say Log-R-Tron each toon could access the tools tab and select that as the tool to use when chopping down a tree, If say you also bought Chop It All Logging Axe another toon could use that instead it would all come down to the toons preference.

This would also include things like the Copper Fed Salvage-O-Matic. And on that note, I think adding a new function to the Inventory Options gear button, if you have a Salvage-O-Matic equipped on your toon in the tools tab you can also click this button and the new option would read Salvage “rarity” with the rarity being selectable from white all the the way to epic and that means you select each one in a drop down list and add a check to all that apply. Once you have your rarity’s selected you could click the gear button and then choose Salvage All.

This makes too much sense.

While I agree that trying to get anything out of Dry Top is a pain now, simply shifting the loot over to The Silverwastes would just be the final nail in the coffin. A very steep currency exchange could be implemented, or some form of buff/item dropped in each zone to encourage play in the other (no, not lockpicks/keys – that just encourages a quick visit and opening a chest).

As for the geodes issue, if they simply went into the wallet like all currencies should do…

It’s very nicely presented and all; and I can see that a lot of time and effort went into this… but no.

This race, nor nearly any of its background lore or traditions, fit into Tyria. This really is a case of “if you want cat girl things, go play one of the many, many asian MMOs that cater to that crowd”. I know others have suggested improvements, but I’d honestly say that you should cut your losses here. A new race is a lot of development time and won’t really draw in new players: but I’m certain that it will lose existing players… these things just don’t belong.

While I agree it’s annoying, why should someone who needs the trait unlock be forced to let it fail, then wait for the assault event chain to begin? If there’s only a couple of people there as it is, it’s probably not prime time, so those later events might even fail; leaving them with nothing.

All this will do is encourage players to play only one type of content, instead of bits and pieces of all of it… like they’re supposed to. It’s always a good idea if it’s done properly, but this is an MMO… it will be turned into a grind. Even if it’s designed to not be a grind, the players will make it one.

To be honest, with things such as Tequatl, I don’t see why they can’t just drop a simple token (like the dungeon ones) – that way we’ll be able to get that lovely sunless weapon within the next three years or so.

You mean the game where a businessman got control and then the investors got majority share. The game that went from subscription to subscription + game time cards + microtransactions to get everything? If you want to use an example to support the model, RuneScape is certainly not the one to use.

Chameleon Dude.1564

Even if you put it nicely like this, all I’m seeing is: “I don’t care about story, more zerg events please!”

You’ve even listed The Silverwastes, the main content update this month, but disregarded it due to balancing issues – they were fixed. We’ve got the new MMO-esque zone to play in and a story (one to five players; it’s instanced content, not single player) to go with it; if you took away any more of the single player content, we’d have none and be forced to group up in a blob of 20 to even progress in the story.

All in all, I really have to disagree with the sentiment of this thread. The bulk of the updates we’re having is multiplayer, with only the story instances even allowing for single player (but are multiplayer, just not a zerg, sorry).

Season one was just a nightmare, sorry. The story was abysmal, the characters were worse than that and the content consisted entirely of huge, bug-ridden, zerg events with unfair reward systems.

Yeah, season two’s not perfect. We’re stuck with the characters and the plot from season one… but they’re trying. We’ve not had to spend weeks repairing signposts, etc. The story is taking us to new places, not just destroying old ones. Today’s update was tiny in comparison to the last one, but I’d take it over any season one update any day.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Chameleon Dude.1564

Personally, I can’t stand the activities we have in game – and that’s exactly why we need more to be added!

Being limited to playing one per day; insanely grindy achievements on some; unfair mechanics and bad memories tied to their releases (I’m looking at you, karka toss!) are amongst the many reasons why I can’t stand these things. If we had a nice variety of them, available at any time, that were designed purely for the sake of fun… then we could talk.

Belcher’s bluff was the most successful one, in my opinion; but the cost per game/infinite kit and the fact one of the skills is nearly impossible to obtain nowadays definitely put people off it… plus how many people even remember it exists?

Crafting recipes/materials based off of the primary stat would be a simple way to adjust the crafting process.

A good idea, I could also stop seeing certain guilds’ spammy messages at that.

As for the gold sellers… we need a way to report their “scout” (an account that looks for players to message), and not just the actual spamming accounts (the ones that send aid messages). It’s actually been a while since I’ve seen one, but I remember not being able to report them because they hadn’t actually said anything; when it was obvious what they were.

While I don’t like how these new stats are implemented (slowly, and if you just crafted/bought an ascended item before a new, more desirable, stat combination comes out, tough luck); making the recipes and jewellery essentially free (currencies a lot of players have a stockpile of), without having to even step foot in the new area? That’s not the way to go.

Right, so they just added three other forts and the rest of the map to be ignored and left to be overrun by mordrem? The devs are human, they can sometimes overlook things and make a mistake. Chameleon Dude.1564

I’m aware of why we have clutter (that’s what vendor trash is for), but seeing as I’m running around with eight 20 slot bags and a permanent bank access as it is… I’m not exactly going to be buying any more space any time soon. My main reason for everything other than the sand is to simply make it more alt friendly – having ready access to those accound-bound consumable items and currencies you’ve earned.

As for keeping the NPCs alive, yeah, I completely agree that it’s only common sense to keep them alive. Sadly, the vast majority of people seem to lack this trait. In the end, it becomes a case of a few martyrs try and defend – missing out on chests to do so; while others receive greater rewards for just looting. Those who try and help get penalised, while those who choose to be greedy and don’t help out reap the rewards. That’s not a fair choice, in my opinion – a slight change would allow everyone to contribute while also earning their loot.

5. Meh, the game has more pressuring things to get adjusted.

As for this comment in particular, the game’s economy as a whole is being affected by the farm; that kind of ties into everything else – so I’d say it’s a fairly pressing matter. I’m not saying to not adjust other things, just putting this particular one out there so it’s on the list.

Ascended armour… plain… casual… ordinary… – have you seen how much jewellery and ornate designs are thrown onto those armour sets? Personally, I agree that they look lame (largely due to this, not my cup of tea), but more special effects won’t help. I can’t stand seeing players in CoF armour, spinal blades/wing and certain legendaries all thrown together with black and red dye as it is… we don’t need to make things worse.

Question about condition damage in a party

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Chameleon Dude.1564

Chameleon Dude.1564

It’s based on the most recently applied stack. So if your condition damaged specced warrior unleashes 20 stacks of bleeding somehow (I don’t know), then your berserker elementalist procs their sigil of earth’s bleeding chance or something (again, why they’d have that, I don’t know), the total 21 stacks would be based off the elementalist’s condition damage stat and the strength of the bleed from the skill/effect that procced it.

Basically, condition damage needs a fix.

[Suggestion] Dry Top, Silverwastes and QoL

Chameleon Dude.1564

This year we’ve received two brilliantly designed zones – Dry Top and The Silverwastes. Both promote map-wide co-ordination to achieve the best possible rewards; and both are dynamic and generally fun to play maps. To start with, I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone involved in the creation of these zones and the majority of players I’ve encountered while playing them.

That being said and done, I believe a few minor changes here and there are needed – and I mean needed!

  • Geodes, Bandit Crests and any future currencies of their type belong in the wallet; not our inventories. Clutter is one thing, but it really does make it a hassle to swap these between characters and causes quite a bit of frustration when you reach tier 6 favour in Dry Top and realise your Geodes are on another character.
  • The same goes for Zephyrite Lockpicks and Bandit Skeleton Keys. We need an account-wide keyring, similar to the wallet; especially if there are plans to add more zones with their own keys (which I hope there are!).
  • Remove Piles of Silky Sand. It’s clutter and a waste of time. Tweak the drop rates a little to make up for the loss of the occasional currency item or key… but we don’t need the sand. If that’s really asking to much, make it so we only need one pile to use them, not ten; then make them ten times as rare – at least this way we won’t have seven of them taking up space.
  • Coin Collector and Lost Badges: let us click on the achievements to open up the respective map and show us the coins/badges we’ve already found – the same goes for any similar future achievements (and possibly ones like Dive Master). Plenty of players just use guides to do these in one go anyway, so it’s not as if it’s trivialising the achievements.
  • Adjust the placement of a few Lost Bandit Chests. I don’t want to ruin anyone’s farm here, but let’s be honest – certain places have an abundance of them while others are left out. Evening this out so all four keeps are just as desirable to defend would be nice. At the very least, either bring some of the further out chests at Amber Sandfall a little closer, so chest farmers actually contribute a bit more; or relocate them to other keeps. Again, I’m fine with people farming; but seeing Lightbringer Osa dying repeatedly with so many players present is a bit annoying.

That’s all I’ve got for now, since I genuinely think that these two zones are some of Anet’s finest work; but I feel that these few changes would make them even greater – and I hope everyone else agrees. If anyone’s got any further suggestions, criticisms or the sort – go right ahead.

Sad truth of playing the ingame instruments

Chameleon Dude.1564

An officially supported in-game system (such as .abc style seen in other games) seems like the best solution to me. Greater access to automatic playing for all (we really shouldn’t need a third party program for this sort of thing, should we?), it’s simple to use and even easy enough to create new song files.

As for those who want to play without assistance: in games with this feature, I’ve never felt like my ability to play the music manually wasn’t worth it. People even hooked up instruments to their computers to perform live shows!

There were definitely many redeeming updates this year, but I really wouldn’t call this a good year. The things that I see day to day are: megaservers, NPE and dwindling guilds/friends lists. No, this isn’t everything – but they affect me much more than the occasional well-written piece of story or interesting new zone we’ve been getting. I like Dry Top, Silverwastes and a lot of the new story, I like it a lot! But if my friends have been scared away from the game… I have no one to enjoy them with.

I agree that these players should be locked away somewhere… but they’ll only zerg there if that place is the most profitable use of their time. This would mean that this place would be (at least seen as) the place to farm, possibly even dragging newer player into thinking this is how the game is supposed to be played.

I’d suggest actually fixing some core issues with the game to simply deter zerging, but that takes effort.

Glasses are just a discontinued helmet skin, pure luck on whether or not you bought them when they were available – nothing to beat yourself up over.

As for map completion and a commander tag : go for those slowly if you want – they are very achievable and can be done a little at a time. Remember, this is Trahearne’s your story! Your game is about you, not some random person in Lion’s Arch who uses fifty accounts to play the trading post for eight hours a day.

New stat combinations are great and I really want to look forward to them, but I can’t if it makes my previous efforts completely worthless.

Could Anet please reconsider how these are added to the game? Either something to make gear more alt/multiple sets/new stats friendly; or hurry up and release legendary armour* so we can be spared from this?

Oh well, mini-rant over. Anyone else got any opinions on the matter?
