Why is there no controller support?

When the steam controller comes along, we’ll talk. Until then: I know Skyrim was like this, but it was misleading – the rest of RPGs or MMORPGs don’t work like that.

SAB minis not trade-able?

Because they weren’t originally tradeable, when we had them before. Making them tradeable now would just be unfair. Still kind of annoyed they’re in the chests – just more proof that SAB isn’t coming back any time soon.

From what I’ve learned, there’s only so much you can do. Some people just cannot be helped. Let’s not get to the point we need our mothers’ permission, blood samples and retina scans every time we perform an action.

I, for one, already find the message about mail not being from Anet and that this person might be trying to steal my account, quite insulting to my intelligence as it is. My good friend from before this game was released sent me a spare dye they didn’t need, there’s nothing malicious there people. =/

Well, I guess I’ll be first to say welcome here. :P

The community here isn’t perfect, there’s always a few rotten apples – but you should see a vast improvement from certain other MMOs. And again, Anet’s not perfect either, but they do try and they do communicate when we don’t bite their heads off for it.

I hope you get used to the differences between GW2 and your previous MMOs and wish you the best of luck.

There was a good bit of background lag, can’t comment to much on revenants as half of the class is still missing.

While it was a stress test, my main feedback would have to be about the use of gliders during the wyvern fight: just jump off the platform, leave combat, heal up, hover over a pact chopper and you’re back in at full health. Feels a little too easy to me.

Chameleon Dude.1564

Doing a quest to get a drop is different to doing PvE that could easily be the same as a quest, selling the drops and buying the skin… how?

I’m not a fan of everything being gem store either, but let’s be honest: aside from a couple of lines of rushed dialogue – it’s the same. Well, apart from it being 100% chance instead of RNG… oh, and you can earn the money through whatever playstyle you prefer.

is buying from a restaurant the same as cooking a meal?

is buying a table the same as designing and building one?

i mean if you dont care about the process, sure its the same, but people who enjoy the game, want more of it to involve the best parts of the game.
making money in this game seldom represents the best parts of it.

For the outright buying with money option, yes, that comparison works. Nothing stops gold to gems conversion though. When you do that, it’s more like cooking a meal in a different way, or building that table with a Swedish instruction manual and a few pieces needing to be adjusted. We’ve got an expansion coming just around the corner – we’ll have some more in-game only loot with that for sure. Until then, let them make a little money if people do want to go to the restaurant – you can still cook that same metaphorical meal yourself; be it in the Silverwastes, your favourite dungeon or just having fun wandering around Tyria.

Again, I’m not the biggest fan of the gem store, but you don’t have to buy that stuff with your credit card every time. And while I’m a big fan of lore, I’d rather see the current method than a really forced mini-quest style thing giving it as a reward – possibly even a limited time, RNG-based reward; as is the trend with games nowadays.

When it's ready, sooner or later?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Chameleon Dude.1564

Chameleon Dude.1564

New content is needed to keep the game fresh and give people something new to do, and old content needs to be brought up to scratch so it’s not just dead. It’s all about balance. The Living Story was almost a perfect tool to do this with, but it wasn’t utilised properly. If Anet had teams working on expansions (long term), Living Story (shorter term) and tidying up existing content… the game would be in a great place.

Oh well, that’s just my opinion. XD

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Dual pistols would’ve suited the “illusionary duellist” style a bit more, but that can come with another specialisation. We have mesmers absorbing projectiles, making barriers and even summoning a phantasm with a shield… so it makes some sense.

For the stacking, this has happened before (e.g. the level 20 scrolls from the first and second birthday gifts don’t stack with each other). It’s caused by one stack of items being “account-bound on acquire” and the other being “account-bound”. Seeing as we’ve already acquired these items… a fix would be nice.

[Suggestion] Shovels

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Chameleon Dude.1564

Chameleon Dude.1564

Definitely against this. Shovels can be earned by contributing to the map (or by tagging and leaching, as many do) – we don’t need more shovels so people can zerg around, not helping, for even longer. Sorry, but at the end of the day, that’s what it comes down to – balancing farming and actually playing the content; and right now, I’d actually say it’s already too generous.

The only time I had fun as a healer was when I wiped a raid by playing Dancing Queen on my harp, as opposed to the healing spells I should’ve been. Gem Store vs. Content

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Chameleon Dude.1564

Chameleon Dude.1564

I agree with the sentiment… but as others have said: at the end of the day, Anet needs money. Even back in GW1, we had god-inspired armour available in this way. If they make all of the amazingly cool armour available through gameplay only, the sales of the “lesser” gem store armour would be disappointing.

I’d love this to be an armour set where pieces drop from an achievement or boss in some living story about reviving Orr, where we fight some Balthazar-related spirit – but that content would take a lot of work and push the story in a completely different direction. This costs money. Again, that’s what it comes down to.

Stability Change Clarification

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Chameleon Dude.1564

Chameleon Dude.1564

Right, I can understand this change for PvP scenarios, and to reduce easy-mode in a lot of PvE content – but could some enemies have their crowd control capabilities looked at as well? Raptor/moa shrieks, anything with a knockdown charge attack and pretty much every Mordrem enemy in the Silverwastes are, as they stand, capable of removing a helluva lot of stacks of the new Stability.

I don’t know if it’ll help Signet of Rage, but you can make the Aegis effect vanish simply by sheathing your weapon. Go and set a keyboard button to “Draw/Sheathe Weapon”, and that’ll make the Aegis graphic go away.

This is true, but what if a roleplayer wanted their weapons unsheathed? Oh wait, they’re a roleplayer, Anet’s ignored them since walk/run toggle.

Can I lvl up a friends char (his account) ?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Chameleon Dude.1564

Chameleon Dude.1564

I really can’t believe this question’s had to been asked and even sparked a little discussion and debate. It’s not a grey area – it’s a big, fat no. Even if no monetary or in-game transaction has taken place, it’s still an unfair advantage since one person has essentially gained another person’s time. That account is now better off than if the owner had been using it as they otherwise would have. Not to mention potential security issues (I know family and close friends aren’t going to steal your account (I’d hope, at least…), but where do you draw the line for trustworthiness?).

Besides, as much as I’d love to drag some more friends into this game, having them play only if you level them up to 80? That’s a terrible deal. They’d have no idea how to play, plus a ton of the game would already be done for them – so they’d just get bored about having nothing to do.

Please make Masteries Character-bound!

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Chameleon Dude.1564

Chameleon Dude.1564

While I enjoy having a large selection of characters to choose from, making each of them unique and seeing each of them progress at their own pace… no. Just no.

As I’ve said, I have a large selection of characters. Gearing all of them has been almost painful, the last thing I need is to grind the new zone ASAP on all of my characters to allow them to keep up. As I see it, all masteries are is a massive gating system (similar to, say, radiance on LOTRO) that serves no purpose other than to simply lock away content behind some grind. I don’t really want that in the first place. I don’t want to do it twice. I certainly don’t want to have to do it three, four or five times. How about those of us with ten characters? Twenty? Sixty four?

So, to put it in a word, no.
