A new slot on equippable items for this kind of thing would be nice. It could open up the doors for some more special effects without new skins… it’s just a shame that they wouldn’t be tasteful.
Now now, the -1% damage from guards, etc in WvW infusions are a big deal.
Let’s make it so you can get a level three into Orr without even needing to run across the map… what a brilliant idea. As it’s been said before – it’s locked for new characters for completion rewards; so stop being lazy!
I like the idea, but this would get very expensive, very quickly. Personally, I’d just like to see legendary armour and trinkets added, using their ascended counterparts as ingredients. That way, the time and effort put into crafting ascended armour (especially light), won’t go to waste – but at the same time, it won’t mean free legendaries.
Just make a WXP line for scouting, allowing you to see white swords and gain experience, WXP and loot from standing still. Maybe even champion lootbags every time your refresh siege?
Scouting is boring. Scouting is unrewarding. It has to be, otherwise we’ll just have AFKers. Apart from the time I had a tea party with all my golems (supplies were nearly full and weren’t being used, what choice did I have?); I have loathed scout duty as I get no fun or rewards, but I allow other players to get even more. An act of kindness and selflessness? No. As usual, I’m just being told that I get the kitten job.
I miss my quaggan strike forces… Seriously though, they were a lot better for small, tactical groups than ruins.
stop caring about the score and just have fun
You do know that Desolation’s been stuck with them for months, right? During the last tournament, we even got them multiple times. The one before that, we were stuck with them and another server and were 2v1’ed for the vast majority of the matchups. This isn’t about score, it’s just plain difficult to have fun like this. We had Vizunah during their prime, now this.
I don’t mind playing against a stronger server and losing, that’s part of the game after all. However, some variety in our matchups would be nice.
Just for the record, I don’t think banning non-EU players from our servers is the right call. We’ve all heard it before with the French Canadians, etc, etc. Some overnight protection mechanic or funds to employ a night time squad (let’s face it, they can’t have a day job too) would be fine; along with some way for us to fight in a matchup without the current rank one in it every now and then.
- could use a blast finisher on it too. You know, why not? It’s not like guardians have access to a good number of finishers if they’re using a one-handed weapon. I’d suggest:
Shield of Judgement
- Slightly shorten the cooldown
- Add a short knockback
- Make it a blast finisher
Shield of Absorption
- Slightly shorten the cooldown
- Similar to the staff’s Symbol of Swiftness’ swiftness, give allies in the field a short protection or regeneration buff every second, which stacks up to a decent duration if you stay for the full duration
- If popped early, buff the heal
- It’s a shield of absorption, right? How about it absorbs the damage and turns it into either damage or a heal when it ends (not the full amount, but perhaps a percentage or over a threshold)?
- Add a blast finisher when it’s popped or it ends? As to whether it would combo with its own field, that’s definitely something to think about. A tad too far?
We find out that our potential reinforcements, Glints children, were smashed when they were eggs by a passive adventurer. At least they didn’t supplant some jungle bandits onto the throne, release titans all over the place, get the Emperor’s half-brother killed, supplant a militia chief as a god and commit an act of genocide against the dwarven race.
There is only 1 dungeon track available at any given time (for what reason?).
I agree in general, but this part simply isn’t true. Completing the story mode of a dungeon unlocks its reward track permanently, regardless of whether it’s the one on rotation or not. This doesn’t solve any of the issues, but just had to point it out.
As a completionist, I regret to inform you that this is not a game for completionism or completing every achievement. Things like Dragon Bash were bad, but let’s not forget that any missed Season 1 or WvW tournament achievement is gone for good – if you didn’t want to grind during that short time frame or simple couldn’t do it (I’m looking at you Crabgrabber, and all your griefers/riggers), then too bad. Then we have non-achievement things such as Foostivoo the Merry. If anyone is genuinely still on track for 100% completion and unlocking everything in this game… I fear for their sanity.
You need to do twelve different jumping puzzles for the monthly. You can’t, for example, repeat the ones in Lion’s Arch several times for it.
I’m looking forward to CDI explorations of how to tailor raid content for all levels of play.
Queensdale could quite easily have a Seraph offensive against the Centaurs, leading up to their encampment/fortress/bouncy castle and several of their leaders. Hell, we could even have the White Mantle; but they might be best saved for something higher level. Similarly, we have the Sons of Svanir, Ascalonians, Flame Legion, Nightmare Court, Mordrem, Risen, Inquest, Pirates and many more factions apparent early on – all a potential lower-levelled raid waiting to happen.
I’ve had this last night entering either Queensdale or Divinity’s Reach (with a friend, they also had the same error at the same time) and just now trying to enter Lion’s Arch.
I hope this gets resolved soon as it’s extremely frustrating, as I’ll continually have it for some time after… but these things happen.
So to be clear unnecessary comments about ‘True Gamers’, ‘Elitists’ and ‘Dress Up Players’ won’t be tolerated.
‘True Gamers’ and ‘Dress Up Players’, those I can understand (and completely agree with!); but there will need to be some talk about ‘Elitists’. I’m definitely not saying that people who are pro-raiding should just be called this as an insult, or anything of the like – but to be within the spirit of the game, raiding would have to be introduced in a way which doesn’t breed an elitist environment. We’ve all been there on other games and they are not nice people to work with. My sole existence on another MMO was to show these people the error of their ways (such as twisting their arms into letting some first timers in the group, then let them know that the inexperienced healer was solo healing the raid while I watched and waited just in case).
If we can’t have some (appropriate) discussion about this type of player and what causes them to be this way; we’ll either get nowhere with the CDI, or just have exactly the content they want being agreed upon. If we’re having content with such potential added to the game, it needs to be accessible (not a walk in the park, not new player experience, not dumbed down – just give everyone a chance).
Why yes, I’d love to see Norgu return.
More private instances means more strain on Anet’s end. I agree that it would be lovely, but I honestly just don’t see it happening. Just be thankful we have little wispy things instead of max size Norn and Charr with giant glowing gear.
And events like that should have never made it into MMOs. They were fine in shooters, etc, since the game wasn’t about achieving things; but almost purely about gameplay. Why would I farm X or grind Y if I know it’ll be twice as quick to do it when the weekend comes up?
As for your given examples, they’d be very unfair to particular classes/characters. Due to their large weapon pool, warriors would benefit more than engineers; for example.
It’s a fun idea, but it’s just a novelty. It’s intended as a helping hand or an incentive, but it just turns into a massive grindfest during those periods to make the most of it. I remember on a certain other MMO that gave into these events (and various other bad practices), the months leading up to a double experience weekend saw the economy be completely and utterly destroyed by hoarders, speculators and manipulators and players just gathered all the resources they’d need to make the most of the experience boost. I really don’t want to see that here as well.
I’ve had a similar experience; I won’t go into detail, but let’s just say I lost a precursor due to a game update. The ticket went in and in the end, I was reunited with my weapon. It does take a while though and may take several back and forths.
We knew at launch that Anet was planning on creating festivals with the intent of just reusing them over and over each year, with minor (if any) changes to them. It was the same way in GW1.
They then decided to swap out two of the activities for the start of a story in Hallowe’en. We’ve now had this chapter of the story twice. I’m fine with the bulk of a holiday event being repeated, maybe with a few new rewards added in or something (GW1 gave us a new hat each year, not the same mesmery mask two years in a row). But the story… repeating that same chapter felt really lazy to me. If you’re going to add a story, follow through with it.
I’ve played other MMOs with lotteries and they were okay, but then again, it was one entry per person/character. It was always fun to see elite raiders winning loot and just throwing it on the pile.
Sorry Gaile, I know that you’re the one that gets stuck with the lovely jobs like this, but we’re not idiots – whoever came up with this bright idea needs to see that this isn’t acceptable.
- Picking up food and feeding a cow was not difficult.
- Knowing that an axe can be used to cut down a tree was not difficult.
- Counting one number at a time was not difficult.
We were all new once, we survived. It’s one thing when you dumb down gameplay elements, that just affects the game. This is different, this involves our money. I’m sure the genius who came up with this wouldn’t be happy if their wage was rounded down by a few thousand or so, because it’s an easier number for them to cope with.
I’m sure I’m in the minority here, but I used to buy gems and convert the leftovers to gold after buying my gem store items… that’s gone now. This change would actually reduce the amount of money I’d spend, if it weren’t for the fact that it’s pretty much convinced me never to spend again. Instead of cheap, underhanded tactics like this; how about just producing things that we’re happy to pay for?
- Dumbing down the game to attract non-gamers
- Fiddling with the gold:gem conversion
- Outfits instead of skins
- No toys with outfits
- Recycling content that shouldn’t be recycled (The Bloody Prince broke free last year, he doesn't need to go through with that again this year!)
- Slapping achievements onto Living Story releases that require multiple playthroughs of the same missions
I know the management will be looking at efficiency, but what ever happened to making a product you were actually proud of and selling it in a fair way?
They’d just choose DPS. Only high level fractals, some pre-organised WvW groups and PvP would have support roles. This game rewards you for hitting things, not helping others. And you get the rewards faster if you hit things harder.
If only they had some new lines like that…
I sympathise, as I know what Chinese publishers are capable of; but this thread will be locked and ignored. Anet can’t do anything to help the Chinese game, they gave all their rights to Kong Zhong.
If they’d copied 2012’s Hallowe’en, I’d be fine with it. Hell, I’d be ecstatic! Instead, we’ve got 2013’s: two amazing pieces of content are missing and the introduction to a story has… been repeated… yeah…
I have a low WvW rank, so clearly I don’t know anything. I didn’t play it non-stop before WXP, I don’t escort dolyaks and I certainly don’t scout… /sarcasm
While I believe we’d get some slight use from this, I can see it being far more trouble than it’s worth. Why should someone’s opinion be belittled just because they didn’t grind out every living story achievement, or because they don’t chase after legendaries? A main versus a menagerie of alts? The only one that I can see making any sense is possibly PvP rank, but what about the people that just farm that in those fixed farming matches?
I say judge people by what they post, not by some statistics which can be inflated/deflated compared to their actual experience.
If you say so. Personally, I think so many people want it because it has a high price tag on it and is rare. It looks…well just as you said – “simple”. I don’t see too many people going for standard greatsword skin, even though it’s “simple” and looks pretty nice. =)
As an owner of one from 2012, I can safely say that it really is a “simple is best” case. I’d use it even if it were a trash skin drop, most staves look awful for necromancers. Besides, there are plenty of people who despise weapons such as sunrise/twilight/eternity… giant glowing greatswords aren’t everyone’s cup of tea.
Well, I don’t know how to feel about this. I’m glad that I did my conversion before this horrible change… but I’m not so glad about giving money to Anet if they think this is acceptable.
- Tie all loot from events mobs, etc to an event completion chest, rewarded at the end of a successful event.
- Triple an event’s respawn time if it fails.
Done.
People still use those?
It’s very interesting, but I don’t think this data will be of much use to you. Everyone is different. Some people will behave like that, others don't. For myself, I found anything being matched up to be coincidental. I have many characters, each with their own personality, hopes and goals. They can be a form of escape, or inclusion with friends, depending on the situation.
Still, I’d love to see the results posted when and if at all possible!
How is selling something for gems any different? Convert gold to gems, purchase item.
We could really use a darkness beyond twilight, and, for that matter, a crimson beyond blood that flows…
Midnight fire sometimes works, but it can come across are a dark brown on some armours.
Thanks, I guess? Lists with waypoint codes and such were out on day one, so…
So, it’s basically raising the level cap. No. Calling level 90 exotic still means it’s level 90. I don’t want to have to level up more, I don’t want “prestigious” emotes that everybody will have, I don’t want to glow, I don’t want my name to glow and I don’t want a mount.
Any thread suggesting mounts should result in an instant lock and temporary forum ban. =/
And how’s your other specs and internet?
Clearly we need to learn to play so you should take your sword/shield warrior and come solo the legendary giant in dry top to teach us.
If it weren’t for its timer and the abundance of players interfering, it’s very likely possible. Just don’t get hit.
Tier two medium sylvari armour and most of the vigil armour for me, plus dry bones light armour. Who needs over the top?
It’s a nice idea, but sounds like a fair bit of work for Anet with no real reward for them. And let’s face it, if this appeared in the gem-store, there would be outrage.
Still, I’d like to be able turn everything into quaggans. Do I have any phobias? No. But I like quaggans.
Let’s not forget it’s just a bonus for actually playing the game. If you don’t think playing the game is worth it, then maybe that brings up some other issues.
It would be nice, along with several other things being available in a similar fashion (not to derail; but crafting tools, siege blueprints and the like would be nice).
The toilet doesn’t care who the gear is bound to, or who throws it i, as far as I know.
Put the parts in the bank, take them out on the character doing the flushing, and fill your boots.
Sadly, it doesn’t let you withdraw them, from my experience.
Buy a spark off of the TP.
When someone asks, “what to you get for doing the dives?” the answer is “Nothing”
No, you get wet.
Because whenever something was shown to us before completion, people would rage and never let go when it was cancelled or delayed.
Blueprints should be like a currency to be honest, but yeah, the pack would still be nice. It’s been asked for many times, but I doubt it would ever happen.
There’s a lovely little thread about this in the tech support subforum (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Latency-Lag-for-EU-Players-merged/first) – submit some info and help out!
Then again, making the match-ups less predictable would solve most of that (just tier 1 then). This is definitely something I’d like to see, but we’d need to solve some other issues along with it.
This is a very nice idea and I would love to see it considered by the devs (a few tweaks to balance issues here and there that we might not be able to see, etc), but I must admit, I have a major issue with it:
Lets just say the system is implemented on a feature patch. Once the patch comes through, you go talk to an NPC and enlist and pledge your service to your server. This will activate the Loyalty Ranking System and you start at Rank 1.
Having been loyal to my server since launch, and being fairly certain that Anet would have some way to trace our server-hopping… I feel this should be retroactive. Plenty of servers have had rough times, and people just bailed – why should someone who ran away start off as loyal as someone who endured four months of being kicked to the curb? Why should someone who bandwagoned in every tournament be considered as loyal as those who simply fought their hardest for their server?
It’s definitely a really good idea to keep things more static in the future, potentially solving several issues, but it would be a kick in the teeth to some of us who have stuck through thick and thin to start off the same as those who did not. A small headstart, like with luck, would be appreciated.
