You did notice she has portal technology that allows her and her minions to pop up just about anywhere they please right?
I agree. The open map encounters are challenging and fun since they actually require some coordination and don’t just work as one massive zerg travelling across the landscape.
I also love how enemies, once defeated, must be put down permanently to prevent them from rising again.

Introduction:
The Conclave is an international multi gaming community that has existed for more than 10 years (it was founded on the 7th of July 2002) and currently comprises 230+ Members worldwide participating in a variety of games. Our Guild Wars 2 section is being lead by two Guild Wars 1 veterans who live/breathe/sleep GW2, has many additional Guild Wars 1 veterans playing as a part of it and is currently spanning 42 Members in total size.
Community goals:
1. To have fun in a social environment where people can contribute, each at his or her own level based on individual time constraints, ability etc.
2. To facilitate people of any type, be they casual or hardcore players. To this end we have assigned people to the various aspects of the game (PvE, PvP etc) to make sure we run a smooth operation.
3. To maintain the atmosphere we have had since our founding where nothing is mandatory and everything is possible: Guild Missions (We have unlocked all types), PvE dungeon runs, WvWvW, sPvP etc.
4. To listen to Member input and, within reasonable practical limits, implement these ideas and suggestions into our community for the benefit of all.
Community activities:
1. Weekly Guild mission events (we have unlocked all types of missions)
2. Regular dungeon runs, both story and explorer modes.
3. Dedicated sPvP team as well as spontaneously organized PvP events
4. Dedicated WvWvW group
5. Other events such as teaching how to do jumping puzzles, screenshot competitions with various themes or subjects etc
Community setup:
1. We have various dedicated people in charge of the different aspects of GW2, be this PvE dungeon runs, vista or jumping challenges, WvWvW PvP etc.
2. We have no age restrictions. We’d rather have a mature 13 year old than a whiny 40 year old dramaqueen. In short, we judge people by how they behave.
3. We have no time constraints or demands, so in short we don’t expect you to be online 24/7. We totally understand that you may have other hobbies, work, friends and family to dedicate time to. You contribute what you can based on your individual situation.
4. We adhere a lot of value to Member input. As a result we highly value people communicating and contributing through Teamspeak (meetings to decide the future of the Guild), the forum (topics, polls etc) or other means outside of the game (Facebook, Twitter). Again, based on how much time you want and can spend on it.
If you have any questions etc just let me know, as I’ll be more than happy to answer them. Or just drop by on our TS server so we can have a bit of a chat (PM me for the password if you want to drop by).

Don’t burn stuff beforehand, so before it’s actually been released. First play it, then judge it I always say.
Sir Vincent IIIIt doesn’t have to be “bad guys” per se, Anet just need to got back to the main concept of the Order having different methods in dealing with the dragons. So those who are not part of the same Order, they can be perceived as “bad guys” just like how members of each Orders used to perceive each other.
The Orders don’t perceive each other as bad guys. They are well aware of the fact that each one of them in the end tries to save Tyria from ruin. They are mostly stubbornly annoyed with one another as to why the other two parties involved cannot see that their own plan to attack or carry out a mission is vastly superior.
3. The election were a misrepresented on YOUR part, if you had informed people that the WP reduction cost would only be for 4 weeks no one would have voted for Ellen at all.
They did tell us.
I guess I’m just a little irritated to see every new event demand me give a darn about humans and nothing else. Meanwhile, Black Citadel, The Grove, Hoelbrak, and Rata Sum are complete ghost towns.
Why are people even bothering to respond to threads like these (Oh irony, so do I at the moment. I know.) As clearly shown by the above statement by the OP there just is no pleasing some people. Such nitpicking on every ittybitty detail, to only focus on its lesser aspects while totally disregarding the good stuff it brings along with it is annoying as hell. If you analyse something at least do it proper and give the good and the bad sides of a situation as it presents itself in your eyes.
I mean, Frost and Fire was mainly about the Norn/Charr, the Super Adventure Box took place in Rata Sum as it was an Asura invention etc. And didn’t we indeed have a lot of people stating a while ago with the SAB that the Asura got too much screentime, leaving out the other races?
Basically the human storyline only really took off the moment the Bazaar was introduced and even there it was only Kiel who represents the human aspect there (Since it was a Norn who convinced her to go there in the first place and eventually run for a Council position). So if you’re a Charr who’d rather be cracking poor Skritt skulls than to partake in fun arena matches against actually challenging opponents by all means stay outside of the city’s gates (Not meant as an aggressive response, just a bit of roleplaying).
Meanwhile, I for one am thrilled that this storyline takes place outside of LA and I hope we won’t return to that city for a long time. Would be nice if the next part of the story took place in another zone altogether, so not even a capital city.
(edited by Chief.5928)
Who are you calling an ArenaNet employee boy? Heavy Texan accent
Now go and wash your mouth with soap!
I particularly love the fact that all of it is centered around a capital city that isn’t LA.
Imo the next one should take place in Hoelbrak or Iron Citadel, given the Braham/Rox connection, or perhaps the Grove (perhaps the Pale Tree has foreseen new events that may unfold?).
I was hoping it would be a method to instantly teleport to one’s home instance (would make sense given the fact we have the opportunity to unlock the personal crystal node during the current Bazaar of the Four Winds event) or later perhaps the Guild Hall.
As it stands, it’s just a copy of the Mesmer’s ability which makes it far less interesting to use.
They’re pirates. As clearly is portrayed in the mini instances where you have to protect the conquered Aetherpirate booty, every side is trying to secure as much funds as possible to try and win the contract with the Sanctum and thus effectively buy themselves into the Captain Council spot.
(edited by Chief.5928)
Yeah he’s a toughy to beat. I think I had about 500 hp left when I finally drank him under the table.
They are, at present, Aether NPC weapons only.
There’s no way to join a DB game with a party.
Don’t have screenshots yet but I painstakingly managed to acquire three tickets for my Mesmer so far, which I used to acquire the staff and 2 onehanded swords.
Btw Chrispy, what green dye did you use on that outfit? Must say that it matches the colour of the weapons really well.
(edited by Chief.5928)
Agreed, a dye option for backpack items would be greatly appreciated (or just the option to dye this specific item).
The Moa achievement also doesn’t count for the wings.
“which offers a greater chance to receive rare items like holographic minis and the Dragon’s Jade weapon skins! “
The text you cited in no way states that you have a guarantee that skins will drop from Rich Coffers. As a result ArenaNet did not lie, rather you saw things in this line of text that weren’t there.
Also, I find it very weird that Logan does not trust the Lionguard.
He never really says that he doesn’t trust them in the cutscene. He merely states he likes to have multiple options open aka the more people with different expertise and skills sets are on the job, the more likely one of them will find a trace of evidence to follow.
@Linguistically Inept: No doubt about that.
Also would like to say I utterly love the style of the storyline cutscene that was unveiled during yesterday’s part of the story trying to track down evidence.
Marjory is now officially my favourite character in the world of Tyria as she’s properly voiced, has a strong personality and feels like she’s got a lot of history behind her.
I’m happy to see a positive bit of a counterweight versus all these people who complain about every nook and cranny.
Yes, some aspects of the events they create can be improved upon. After all, nobody and nothing is perfect. But a lot of what they do does supply us with a lot of fun and interesting things to do and we should be a bit more appreciative in my view of what GW2 delivers.
Don’t forget that SAB part 2 is right around the corner most likely
100 views and no replies? Come on folks, though this event certainly isn’t without a few flaws most of it is quite enjoyable.
Surely I’m not the only one who feels this way.
With all the complaining going down on these forums I want to hereby create a topic where a more positive sound can be heard.
First of all some constructive criticism towards certain aspects of the Dragon Bash:
- Love the Dragon Ball minigame BUT could you guys plz start to use a group up systematic for minigames like that. Nothing is more fun than to be able to play with your Guild mates rather than random strangers.
- The amount of Zhaitaffy that people need to accumulate in order to get the holographic dragon wings is too large. This is proven by the fact that the wings can be bought directly from the BLT for about 14 gold at present which is in fact cheaper than to buy the candy in order to get the thing from a vendor.
With that bit of criticism out of the way I did the continuation of the storyline yesterday and have to say that the Effigy burning ceremony along with the chatter between various characters that was going down was highly enjoyable. Characters were introduced, the dress up of the ceremony was nicely staged and the way we as players subsequently had to supply an escort and fend off attackers was nicely put together.
The effigy burning, while a bit repetitive, as with the pinhata bashing/firework launching, can be done throughout the month giving us 2-3 weeks to complete it all so that’s something you can do while you quest, are on your way to do dungeons etc.
I’m interested to see how the storyline will continue today with the interaction at the Dead End in Divinity’s Reach.
(edited by Chief.5928)
- An Asura hologram announcer making comments about scores, kills etc
- Multiple maps with various hazards (fire traps, spike pits etc)
- Added sound effects, like pew pew noises when you throw a dragon ball. The current sounds for the abilities are rather lackluster.
- Allowing group joining and creating a ladder system for Draghon Ball.
- Making seperate outfits that can only be worn in the Db arenas. Cash for the developer!
Actually I think this is one of the best mini games incorporated so far:
- Good level design
- Fun skills
- Team tactics are a must to win
The problem is that it suffers from the same issues as all the other minigames, which is that you cannot join as a group thus preventing Guilds to do this as a social activity and lift the gameplay to a higher level.
kRiza krimosYea it gets like that when you’r used to get everything you want.
It has nothing to do with greed. RNG is just a terrible system as it creates an unfair playing field due to being completely based on random chance. If skins could be acquired through skill, say by winning tickets through the playing and winning of Dragon Ball matches or being a top 3 player x many times, it would be far more satisfying as you have stuff to look forward to that is achieveable if you put in a bit of effort and acquire skill.
RNG causes some people to get 3 weapon tickets after having acquired 25 boxes and others to have none after 500+ opened chests.
It’s RNG, you were simply lucky I guess. MF does not affect what drops from a chest, this has been stressed again and again.
I am Chief, and I approve of this message.
More like a small dribble
The drop rate is .4% on the wiki drop rate.
you need 4000 chests to get a 100% chance to get one weapon with the common coffers.
Sorry but this statement is not correct. Any drop may give you a 0.4% chance to give you a weapon ticket but this does NOT mean that if you get X chests that eventually you’ll have a 100% chance to get a ticket.
The chance of each chest remains 0.4% and is independend of the chance on the next chest to hold a ticket, as they are seperate events and don’t influence each other.
So it doesn’t matter how many you open, your chance (statistically at least!) is always 0.4% that any given chest will hold something of value. Naturally if you collect more boxes your odds are improving somewhat due to the sheer quantity of them.
Btw Nikku, I really like that mask you’re using on your character. What’s it called?
My current idea for my Mesmer (he’s level 27) will be to use a mix of Sylvari racial armour, Honor of the Wave token items and possibly the headpiece from CoE (the cap with the monocle is quite nice).
So there comes a time and a place when people have to come out of the closet. And I guess today is my moment: I love my Mesmer but it’ll be a cold day in hell before I give him any purple clothes
Seriously, for a class that’s so different in how it plays, which usually attracts the more creative players, most Mesmers are just so uninspired in how they dress their characters. Virtually no other class has achieved the ‘Oh he’s purple, probably a Mesmer’ clothes = class status that Mesmers have managed to secure within the game.
You can just imagine the cogs in their minds turning: ‘Mmmm the spells I use are purple. My interface is purple. You know what, I’ll make myself look like the bad guy from Titanic wearing purple spandex.’
So today I’m coming out of the closet. I have a Mesmer and he is and will forever stay green and orange. There! It’s been done! The truth is out in the open! Now I do realise that this means I won’t be welcome any more in the Purple Mesmer Night Clubs and bars but that’s just a price I’ll have to pay for going rogue
Yep, the only easy way to get the achievement is to talk to other players and help each other out. It’s what I will do this evening as it’s the last achievement I need from the whole event.
ArenaNet indeed majorly messed up with this achievement and apparently refuses to correct the blatant mistake it entails. I do hope they learned something from this incident so that at least luck based achievement will not be present anymore during future events.
Sent you a PM with some info about us
Daylight makes a very good point about the Dredge, and I must confess I forget about them completely as well (which is true blasphemy as I like them a lot as a race).
They have a lot of pros:
- They are with many already and have a proper leadership structure.
- Capable of advanced technology (metallurgy, drilling operations, smelting plants etc enabling them to build warmachines and weapons)
- Intelligence at the personal level (varies a bit but they clearly have individuals who are capable of rational, longterm planning)
- They live underground so there’s plenty of room for them to expand their settlements without anyone noticing them or wanting to rival over living space.
They also have downsides however:
- Their society seems to follow a strict hierarchy, with little room for personal development (unless you count all the rebellions that are caused by this).
- The constant rebellions that take place, so the inner fighting, rather than uniting against the outside world much like Russia and the installation of the communist system after the russian revolution, of which the Dredge nation very clearly is a representation.
- Their desire to conquer the surface world, even though their physiology isn’t suited for living above ground, which causes them to spend many lives and resources that could be put to better use in expanding their nation. Then again knowing the Dredge they’ll probably in the end find some technology to compensate for this.
So yeah, in many ways the Dredge would have to be number 1 on our list in my opinion.

The new yellow icon on Pearl Island should be a dead give away that there’s something to do really.
Although I don’t dislike the boss fight it could be so much more than it is right now. Like having various phases with new abilities, requiring players to adopt different strategies.
Something like:
Phase 1: The Karka Queen spits eggs around that must be destroyed by the players or they’ll be overwhelmed by hatchlings. At times she’ll randomly pick a player and perform a charge attack or roll.
Phase 2: She’ll summon/call in several (2-3) veteran Karka that begin to spin webs or spread sticky matter around, protecting the Karka queen from all damage until these are downed.
Phase 3: The Karka Queen from time to time will perform a jump and groundstomp attack, causing a shockwave and hot steam/lava geysers to erupt in the direct vicinity in a random pattern which require precision and timing to dodge.
Etc.
The thing that I don’t understand in that story bit that starts when you talk to Kiel is: WTH would the settlers help Noll to get the contracts, that bind them to the Consortium, off the island?
I mean, she goes into this yell about how they need to ‘fight for their lives’ and ‘fight for their place in the world’. But the creatures that were crazed by Canach are there, whether the contracts are saved or not, so these two matters have no connection whatsoever and the settlers joining the escort doesn’t diminish the danger factor.
If I’d been a settler I would have punted Noll off the nearest cliff the moment Kiel wasn’t looking and set fire to the contracts.

Although I’m not sure whether you’re trolling or being serious, I know that I personally WOULD in fact pay for such a thing. Certainly would beat the terrible broom that luckily I DIDN’T buy.
AyeHowever, I do like that they’ve split guild recruitment and looking for guild posts into separate sub forums.
You’ll get no argument from me there, it’s a good change.
Locking people, who are interested in a certain Guild and want to post a reply to the recruitment thread requesting for more information, out of the opportunity to indeed post such a reply isn’t however.
I don’t think, whoever thought up this idea, was completely awake when he/she thought it up. Whoever it is, he/she probably has no experience with running a community or recruiting people and as such did not consider the consequences of this change.
@FlamingFoxx.1305:
One could also say that this new system is a way of punishing Guilds who put effort into recruiting people, making these folks feel at home and then making sure that they reply to the Guild recruiting topic to convey their positive experiences towards the GW2 community as a whole, making sure other people notice Guilds that may be to your liking. [CC] never bumped our post with meaningless replies, nearly every single reply in there was unique and made by a new person we recruited.
And if people do bump topics in that typical lazy BUMP manner it’s a moderator’s job to act on it. This new system is a lazy easy way out for ArenaNet because they don’t have to keep tabs on anything.
As a company that made a game that resolves around social elements you should encourage social interaction, not dumb it down.
Dear ArenaNet,
I’d like to say I strongly oppose the move that ArenaNet has made towards disabling the creation of replies towards Guild recruiting threads on the Guild recruitment board. What possible use could this have? In the old setup we could have people who had joined us be welcomed by community members, as well as have them post their experiences in the Guild thus far which acted as a great way to show the GW2 community that a certain Guild is informative, communicational, active and therefore worthwhile checking out.
This is meaningful interaction that leads to the building of a community sense, NOT spam. If your moderators are too lazy to actively counter spam by removing it + warning the posters who make such topics/replies a meaningful system to replace it does not consitute to just annihilate everyone’s ability to interact on a board.
I can already predict what’s going to happen in the new setup: Where we’re effectivevly forced to repost the recruiting topic once a week to make sure that at least some people who aren’t in a Guild yet will notice it.
Although I agree with all the points made with regards to the Skritt, I think that the Hylek don’t receive enough love in this thread. True, their main accomplishment is the almost perfect way they control and know about natural resources to apply to their alchemy practises. However they also display a pretty fundamental, albeit crude in its implementation, understanding of engineering as displayed by the catapults/cannons they have built throughout some of their settlements.
Like Skritt they also breed quickly, can adapt to many circumstances in terms of climate (although being amphibians they’d be dependent on water sources and moderate to high temperature areas at least for the moment), are able to craft solid armour and weapons and have the added bonus of being intelligent at the individual level. I think the Hylek’s major drawback at present is that they are a tribal people, held back by the superstitions and beliefs that go with a small tribal community. A typical example of this is the personal storyline of the Durmand Priory where a Hylek high priestess denies the obvious facts because she’s blinded by faith in the Sun and plays a significant role that almost leads to the destruction of the tribe the player is visiting.

Anyone know any good tips that will actually work?
1. Set up any class of your preference with some knockback skills.
2. Stand with your back against a wall at the entrance.
3. Disarm the explosive mine (it’s slightly to the left when you enter the cave).
4. Kick/stomp/other knockback effect Canach into the disarmed mine.
5. Repeat 4 times and you’re 1gold 25 silver the richer, as well as an achievement.

A massive improvement of WvW would also be if they’d increase the size of groups that people can make which are indicated by a different colour. It’s so annoying that ArenaNet sticks with the 5-man standard setup.
I could be Liam Neeson, after a night of heavy drinking and a bleaching treatment.
