I believe you can change your character name, Tjot. You need a name change contract…but I have no idea how to get one.
The OP wishes to change his account name (the one you see when you post on the forums). I agree with this suggestion. I would pay for account name changes, even if we were limited to only a few.
Edit: Or do it like BattleTags. One free change, then $15-25 to change it after that.
Yes, please give us Sapphire clones of Ascended rings. I’m going nuts having to cripple my build just because the only decent alternative for it is the Tough/Vit ring. Cleric’s clone back items would be nice too…but I can live without, so long as we get rings.
I use Cleric’s and Sapphire gear exclusively (except back item…there’s no HP back item). I’ll be swapping to Tough/Vit ascended rings only because there’s no Sapphire clone. Why?
Easy. People don’t look at the entire picture with Healing Power. It scales strongly for some things, weak for others. But it scales for a LOT of things. Rejuvenation (Resolve’s heal—effect increased with Absolute Resolution trait), Regeneration, Selfless Daring, and your #6 heal are just off the top of my head. If you run AH, it scales with that too, even if it does scale weakly. Unless you’re getting torn down in seconds, it’s still worth it.
Healing Power isn’t reactionary, it’s a soft Vitality for Guardians when you consider all of our passive healing ability. With some skill, you can make a fight against a group last a very long time (I’m talking large groups). The longer the fight lasts, the more that healing power is worth. It’s also much more useful at countering conditions than Toughness (doesn’t affect condition damage) or Vitality (once it’s gone, it’s gone).
The Power on Cleric’s/Sapphire and proper weapon sets and traits also lead to efficiently short fights. Or in other words, you don’t take forever to kill things like people believe. It simply takes practice. Learning to burst effectively also helps.
I could go on, but I’m just going to wait on some videos I’m uploading. I’ll be posting my build and examples of combat with it pretty soon. 36 hour HD uploads…ergh.

I’m a big advocate of Cleric’s armor/weapons and Sapphire jewelry. Power stacking will give you acceptably strong, consistent damage, and the mixed stack of Healing Power and Toughness well get you much farther (in my opinion) than Vitality will.
Warriors aren’t going to survive trying to break a small zerg’s lines as well as a Guardian is going to. I also firmly believe that no Warrior is going to be able to survive and make as big of a difference in smaller group skirmishes as a good Guardian can.
I’m still of the opinion that we’re the strongest profession in the game in terms of solo and small-medium group combat. We’re also extremely useful if played correctly for zerg support, but I admit that there are professions with better zerg utility.
Doesn’t need nerfs if it can’t kill anything. Which it can’t.
A friend just explained to me what all of the fuss is about. I guess people are just going to have to adapt to a weaker AH, or move on to a different build. Things change. I’ve never touched an AH build, so I wouldn’t really understand the disappointment.
I’m actually pretty delightful to talk to when people aren’t being passive aggressive wads towards people they don’t even know.
SoR does, in fact, have a gaping hole in their oceanic time slot. You can’t just blatantly say the issue isn’t coverage when in reality it’s a large part of it. You especially can’t just start rolling on people just for wanting to level a bit in WvW. It’s just bad posture.
Now, I’m not okay with straight, intentionally harmful leeching, but you can’t get angry at a person for wanting to spend some time doing something different with their alt, especially if there’s no queue.
And I don’t agree that it’s a T1 server. SoR is T2 material with the potential to play in T1, but even Blackgate was shut down to some degree there. Until SoR can decisively defeat Blackgate—consistently—I’ll have to consider SoR a T2 server.

One step closer to getting that build of yours rofl. jk
I’m giving it out soon.
I made a video. It’s my first ever though, so I’m too stubborn to render in anything less than 1080-24p, so…36 hour upload. Still waiting.
If we werent on the same team i would be working on a build to kill you just for the fun of it :/ i already know the class that can do it.
It’s unfortunate that it takes a fairly specific build to do it efficiently. ^^
I really need to post some videos. We’re far from obsolete in WvW. We merely have unique roles. I’ve personally got next to a ?:0 (zero) K:D ratio in 1v1 in active WvW, and a good Guardian can do so much more than just win 1v1.
This is not a profession issue.

Talking main stat here, not “gem” stat. Those with HP on them are heavily weighed down by other stats that are meaningless to my build.
I don’t even understand why there aren’t any. My build’s main stat is healing power and the lack of it on any ascended rings makes swapping from exotics entirely pointless. It would only hurt me, meanwhile every other build for nearly every profession will have no issue using the ascended rings.
Any explanation of why there are no HP rings would be great. Or just the introduction of a few… this is seriously the biggest/only letdown I’ve faced in this game so far.
Edit: All I’m saying is that there should be a Sapphire jewelry clone.

Guilds aren’t good just because they can out-man another or spend more money on pricey siege than others can. Score update, please.
Edit: This isn’t directed at anyone. I’m just getting tired of all of this internet chest thumping. It’s objectively pathetic.

Does the set/weapon you’re comparing to have more power on it…?
I only use Tome of Wrath during keep or tower defenses/assaults where I’m comfortable in my allies’ abilities to hold the enemy at bay well enough for me to actually use it effectively. I’ll use Tome of Courage when in a large zerg for general support and gate spamming (to protect ram operators). It’s also helpful when trying to re-stabilize your zerg after an enemy portal bomb.
I run Courage pretty much exclusively in explorables and fractals. It’s simply more useful to the group than the other options. Neither tome is very useful in small group (2-3 people) or 1v1 combat though.
Orb of Light velocity was increased in the last major patch. I do agree that the scepter 1 skill needs a projectile speed increase though. We also have access to plenty of condition removal. You just have to be willing to give up a bit of damage for it.
We’re nowhere near pidgen-holed. I honestly do not understand where all of this nerf QQing is coming from. We’ve hardly changed.
I don’t even use AH and I still manage to stay alive all day against groups. I don’t see the issue here.
I like to drop Wall of Reflection and/or Shelter right on top of enemy portals as soon as I see them. Just for teh lolz.
I would say leveling is kind of dull, but guardians don’t really shine solo.
Well, that’s just not true.
@OP, I recommend listening to the Fratellis while you play your Guardian. It helps. But in all seriousness, it gets better at later levels, trust me. You just have to power through the boring early levels. I actually enjoyed every step of leveling my Guardian, but that might just be because it was my first character and I hadn’t already been through the content.
It doesn’t work all of the time, but it appears to work for me most of the time. It’d be much more powerful if it was 100% effective, so I hope it gets fixed soon.
GS is less of a trend and more of an extremely efficient farming weapon, especially if you want loot tags during high-pop events.
Targeting them and typing /invite or /join also works.
Alt-F4 defeats the entire purpose of “not dying.” If you’re downed and about to die, you’re dead. You died. You lose, start over. Alt-F4 is just a way to cheat yourself into maintaining your lack of deaths.
Further, if you don’t want to die at all, you PROBABLY shouldn’t be in WvW.
We have no time for silly war games!

Not sure if this was me or not (I’ve got a bit of a knack for 1vX encounters in T2), but if it was…I stack healing power and play very defensively when I get jumped by more than one player. It just looks like I’m not being damage when I have as much passive regen as I do and can dodge as often as I’m able to.
If it wasn’t me, well, they might have being rolling a meta bunker build. That’ll keep you alive for days if played correctly.
Edit: I don’t know anything about the weird animations you were seeing though.

I’m not going to respond to the entirety of the thread, just one portion in particular:
There’s a difference between highly lethal chemical (nicotine) addictions and failing to keep up with real life due to a video game, regardless of what your “responsibilities” might be in-game. Make time to find other people to fill in when you cannot run 20 hour shifts in WvW. That’s what responsible people do.
That said, I’d agree with some server merges given enough space per server. Just not for the outlined reasons.
That was fun. I enjoyed that.
WvW is meant to be an imbalanced, PvE-immersed mass PvP experience.
There is no room for “PvP gear” in WvW. If you want structured, balanced PvP, there is a place for that.
Invader’s is exotic. If you’re using rares despite doing nothing but WvW, that’s your own fault. I make a lot of money doing nothing but WvW all day. I bought my first set of exotics with a lot of the money I made in WvW.
Ever played a Guardian? They’re pretty cool.
To be fair, I only actually kill people that grief or gank. I know I’m one of the few people of this opinion, but I believe that people who gank from a higher platform just to prevent anyone from fighting back at all are the lowest type of player.
Which is why I finish the puzzle early and then backtrack.
Sounds like a glass cannon thief getting lucky on the crits against some scaled up or un-geared players.
I use the jumping puzzle as a dueling zone for the most part. I actually let people revive and continue on their way once I beat them…unless they continue to attack me or they run away. Or there are more than one of them. Can’t just let you get up and help your friends!
I also give no quarter to people I know for being puzzle griefers. You deserve to die! >:| So no. No ceasefire. Sorry.
Giving players supply and boons when they’ve been pushed COMPLETELY off the map IS giving them more power.
My major gripe is the lack of consistency with “Hold the Line!” and Pure of Voice.
Shirking our responsibilities in favor of a dance party, as usual.
WvWvSkynet, since we’re all fed up with the undead.
I disagree with a need for angst Roezz. Just because it’s competitive doesn’t mean it has to be in any way stressful on a personal level. That’s all antagonizing does, cause stress.
Just wait til tomorrow!
I guess it’s technically my morning too then, since I’m NA CST. Just sounds better if I say fight night.
Indo, how come you didn’t show up to fight night? I’ve been looking for TW tags but I really don’t think I’ve ever seen one. :/
My words as we are rushing in the south gate of hills in SoR BL. Oh kitten that Guardians here!
Raaawr!
Yay, we took SM!
You have quite the reputation in our TS for a good dueler Sir Christos.
I’m also fairly adept at holding small zergs at bay. :P
P.S. The engineer that beat you, was also part of [BRG], Ringmaster Valek.
All good. You’re both very good players. And like I said, every loss is a learning experience. I relish being beaten because it means I have something new to learn and new builds to figure out how to kill.
Hope to meet you on the field again sometime.
(edited by Christos de Soufre.3802)
Yes, well, I’m about to stop being so friendly about it if people don’t start following the rules of no-kill dueling.
Some people…
(edited by Christos de Soufre.3802)
Of course. And punch.
