Man I would love to see downed state completely removed. Or if anet refuses to remove it completely atleast get rid of all the interrupts, mists and teleports basically every #2 skill.
Sadly games with full loot don’t last cus people these days just cant handle it. Darkfall Unholy Wars about the only decent full loot game out. Darkfall online was much better imo but they took to long to fix it and everybody had left. So they closed the servers and made a more carebear version of the game called Darkfall Unholy Wars. Its still full loot like uo and you can siege peoples player cities from them like shadowbane. You tube it if never heard of it like most havn’t.

I think this guy really fails to understand the concept of coverage. Were you in the other maps lol. DR has enough people to man 1 battleground and we split that force up to try and defend eb and our bl as best we can. At reset last night we never had a queue on any map. You got your PPT you are talking about cus your massive numbers advantage across all 4 maps kept taking our stuff (Coverage).
If you wouldl like some props that guild FUN is the only decent group of dh I have seen in any of our matchups. On the flip side of the coin your BRL Brazilian baddie blob is probably the largest group of terrible players ever to grace wvw. Those guys are simply awful but still do ok taking stuff cus they roll in a blob of 100.
Well getting to the end of the first night for me. So AR got a bunch of transfers or something you guys have way more people than usual.
Transfers? No not really…maybe 10? There are a lot of reasons for AR’s turn and only some of them are to do with transfers, but not numbers.
AR is a v.high pop server but previously had very little interest in WvW. This has begun to change, we are seeing an emergence of a few WvW focused guilds. Some are built by transfers who have more of a WvW focus, but the guild members are AR.
We also have more coverage in stable, reliable commanders, some transfers, some AR originals. This has helped a lot.
Some AR original guilds have also changed their focus with WAR moving from trains to PPT plays and my guild, TFH, are focused more on our BL rather than EB zerg fighting.
Due to our months of coming 3rd we are also very conscious of our own limitations and we are really trying to play to our strengths without over extending, like pushing locations at the inevitable loss of others.
We are also doing well for a change, thus a rolling ball effect, if we can keep it going we may be able to actually convert our fair weathers. The additional benefit of this is a better culture, people are less stressed and it is showing in good communication, positivist and cooperation.
This is why AR is turning around.
There are transfers, and there are going to be more that we already know of, not a huge amount but down here everything helps. These transfers have not occurred yet though and have not yet contributed to our community and progress.
TL;DR Some small transfers have helped a lot but they aren’t the answer to our improvement.
Well whatever your doing AR keep it up. I am glad to see a tier 8 server turning around. We DR are not having that kinda luck. Lots of peeps left right before league to a server destined to win. Are pve population is terrible to yet somehow we are considered a high population server. For instane I think we are like a third of the way done with the pollenating the tower living story. We wont finish it lol. I really didn’t see a huge influx of pvers coming in to wvw to get their achivements. The ones that did got them and left and we are struggling now. Almost every day or two I hear somebody in map chat say he is done with us always having outmanned buff and transferring to a better (more populated) server.
To the darkhaven guy yes you guys will win by the fact you have way more people just like pretty much every other server that has ever won a wvw match. Your Brazilian zerg alone had more people in our bl last night than we did.

I am sure ele will have its chance at flavor of the month again. I remember months back when I saw complete clans switching to dagger eles. I am talking 20+ dagger eles running around having pretty much the best of everything. They still seem pretty strong if you know what your doing. It could be worse they could be as usless as ranger.
They are pretty rare but really strong mesmers are ridiculous. I really don’t count thieves. Any really good thief is gonna win or run away and reset endlessly.

Mesmers seem like the top 1v1 class. A really good Mesmer is like untouchable. However as most have said they just aren’t that great in wvw zergs and are mostly veilbots.
Thief is kinda like mesmers a fight with a really good thief is pretty much only 2 outcomes you losing or the thief running away and trying to reset the fight till they win.
Not even gonna bother reading most of this thread, but thought I’d jump in and leave a note for once!
So, my small team has been practicing a lot more recently and tonight the 6 of us took Devona’s Rest Keep in EBG! Well, to be fair, there were 2 defenders until the last minute and it’s not exactly a big thing, but….
We broke in, killed a few DR defenders who showed up, killed the Keep Lord and jumped in the circle just as a group of DR showed up (Probably about 4-6? Heat of the moment, couldn’t count). We managed to pull of the capture AT THE SAME TIME DR banner’d their Lord and we got to witness to Keep Lords duking it out xD

So 10 or less DR came to defend our keep from your group. Yup sounds about right.
Not sure how the other tier 8 servers are doing but this league has caused us (DR) to go from a low populated wvw server to a ghost town. We had a mass exodus to servers that were destined to win their league before leagues started. Then countless people transferred after leagues began cus we are outmanned buff pretty much 20 out of 24 hours of the day in every matchup we been in. Bascially we have a queue on eb for an hour or so on reset. No queue anywhere else. Then outmanned buff the rest of the week other than a couple hours at primetime. If that gives u guys an idea of our population.
I think one of the main reasons there are so many warriors is not because they are so op but because there classes is the most balanced/finished. Pretty much every build option actually works with warrior. All of there weapon sets are useful. The trait lines make sense. They have lots of useful utilites. They can cleanse conditions very well. They have a long duration stability.
Then you look at a class like ranger. The pet is garbage. The trait lines are terrible. You have to spec 30 points to make a utility useful. Spirit build is really the only viable build yet im sure some rangers will try to argue that but everybody else would agree with me. They have terrible condition cleanse. They have one stability which again you have to spec 30 points to even use. Several of the weapon sets are very meh.
Well my first suggestion was to not play a ranger if that’s what you were doing. You said you have a warrior main though so I would say more sPvP. Try to learn the tricks the other classes use. Try out different builds and weapon sets. Find something that works for you. I have found that all of any one kind of gear isn’t usually the best. All tanky gear and you can’t kill anybody. All Zerker gear and your glass. Right now I am using full PVT armor with zerker trinkets melendru runes and lemongrass food+ dogged march so conditons and and immobilize don’t do much. Condition dmg and stacking seems to be the meta right now so I like clensing ire and quick breathing to remove conditions as well.
I still see the only real problem as shadow refuge. Next update thieves are gonna have a much harder if not impossible time trying to perma stealth. Short duration stealths are fine. Perma stealth and 15 second long shadow refuge stealth is not. Shadow refuge is like a 99.99% get out of jail free card every minute. Seriously the times I have killed a thief who used SR or the times I have died on my thief after using SR is like 1 out of 1000 times. Nearly every single thief in the game uses this utility its op face it.
I still think the problem is shadow refuge. I have no problem with the short duration stealths of thieves mesmers or engi. The problem is shadow refuge can give up to 15 seconds of stealth. Virtually every single thief in the entire history of gw2 uses shadow refuge. It is a absolute must have utility for any build. Doesn’t that tell you something is overpowered when 100% of people playing the class use that utility. I feel its stronger than any other skill in the game even elites and it only has a 1 min cooldown.
Remove downed state it only promotes zerging. If you die get rezed or respawn.
Anyone that loses and claims it is just because of numbers.

Meh not bad. Would have been better though if it wasn’t coming from somebody on a server that tanked on purpose to get into bronze leagues so your numbers could win.
Any that don’t massively outnumber us and claim they win due to skill.
We need more things to use them on or to atleast be able to sell them. Myself and tons and tons of other people have gotten to the point we just destroy them. They take up inventory space.
One of the things we like to do in an unbalanced match is to take stonemist when the zerg server is taking something else on the map. Then we siege the heck out of the lords room. The zerg server knows they are the zerg server of the match and will come for stonemist within mintues. Zerg servers are usually baddies who just keep throwing numbers at you spamming there #1 key. So when they come you make tons of loot as they will just keep respawning and coming right back and running into your siege spamming there #1 key and dieing over and over.
I would personally just like to see faster spiking. I can’t even count the number of times I have been killed from full health to dead just in the time it takes me to spike somebody. It takes way to long to spike somebody. On top of that every class has a silly intrupt or teleport to stop them from getting spiked so the blob can save them. I am fully up for removing every single intrupt or teleport while in downed state. If you want to throw rocks at the enemy fine but interrupting them from spiking you is lame. I would even be up for removing down state completely. If you die YOU DIE now respawn or get rezed. Downed state only promotes mindless zerging.

The problem is incentive. There is 0 incentive to move to a lower population server. There an incentive to stack on the winning servers cus they are gonna get a special reward.
Thief probably should have never gotten stealth to begin with. Its just really hard to balance around. A competent thief can escape a losing fight 99.9 percent of the time. Probably just should have made the thief really mobile and slightly tankier. Stealth has just always been a hard thing to balance around. Maybe even just removing shadow refuge and giving thief some love would help. In my opinion shadow refuge is the problem. Pretty much every thief ever to play gw2 uses SR. The little 2-3 stealths I don’t have a problem with but when every single thief that is dieing can pop SR and get 3 seconds right away then about a quarter second later the second tick happens making it 6 seconds and a total of up to 15 seconds if they stay in the aoe for the full duration is just stupid.
Human female Mesmers look good in the skimpy outfits.
War greatsword is pretty much used for the mobility. With a combo such as gs and sword/horn you get some of the best mobility in game. That translates into almost always being able to escape bad situations kinda like thiefs can. Also being able to chase down anybody trying to run away from you.
I still like an use it however. It just always seems like the second condition I have is the one I want removed. As long as I have both 4 and 5 skills off cooldown to get rid of both conditions its great. Just seems the game has come down to put a million conditions on your enemy or do whatever you can to remove conditions fast as possible are the only 2 options anymore.
Not much mention of DR on here. Guess there isn’t much to talk about. I figured we would come in 6th place. I knew we had more pop/coverage than ar and et. I assumed we could beat k nig and we probably could in a different matchup but in this weeks match dh has been pretty much only been focusing us. Last night I finally saw dh hit knig a little bit but its kinda to little to late. Think dh just mad we keep trebbing precious stonemist and roll over them in any even number engagement. While knig just kinda sits in there corner doing nothing.
Are you guys sure the problem isn’t that everybody wants to run glass cannon builds. So they don’t go for utilites heals and traits that remove that stack of confusion.
Where did the +8/-8 random matches come from? In 2 of the 3 weeks before the league our server, Rank 15 ended up against the first and second ranked servers.

The last week or two before season did have some very strange match ups. Before then though the gliko system was working fine.
Bronze league faces the same problems the other leagues do. Servers like SF IOJ HOD DH and GOM have so much more population/coverage than the bottom ranked servers of DR AR ET FC that a match ups are almost always a blowout in bronze league by one of the above servers. As for the FC guy above you guys just happened to get a very easy match up this week facing probably the two lowest populated servers of NA.

by the way you should check out lions arch to see how empty it is… don’t know how to calculate population even in pve but I’m pretty but it’s a bit ridiculous
This is false. First off there are no low or medium populations servers on NA. They are all high or very high. Second I just went and clicked transfer to all the tier 8 lowest ranked servers on NA. They are all 1000-1800 gems bases on if the server is high population or very high population.
I actually enjoyed the old matchmaking system. Yes we played a lot of the same servers over and over but atleast they were semi close matches. We have yet to have and probably wont have a single match in league that isn’t a blowout. All that really needed to be done was to make it free to transfer to tier 8 then kinda cheap to tier 7 then more expensive for tier 6 and so on and so forth.
Thanks to all who participated in my new game of how many kids can I fear off the third floor of stonemist before the enemy zerg takes me down. My record tonight was 8 in one death. I am thinking if I were a necro I could double it.
I think the problem you guys are seeing with the omega golems is that there was a mass dupe about a week or 2 before league started. Remember when if you put siege in your hand you couldn’t put it back away. That was there quick fix to the problem. Yet it was already to late thousands and thousands of omegas hit the trading post. At one point they were like 10 silver a piece.
I think people are also forgetting that blob tossing down 3 or more superior rams has 3 ore more people on them with iron hide making your arrow cart survivable with waterfields and the blob stacked up on the door. The problem lies in that no 3 guys can’t hold off the blob till help arrives. Unless your blob is within a minute of all of your towers at all times you lose it in a minute flat.
Yup sick em is pretty underwhelming. It has to be timed absolutely 100% perfect and hit the thief right before he does his big shadow refuge getaway. Pretty much the only use of the skill is running with a zerg and using it right as the zerg converges on him so they take him down in the 4 seconds he can’t shadow refuge away.
Actually the spider f2 is immobilize and it takes forever from the time you hit f2 for the spider to do its animation and the projectile to fly through the air giving your target plenty of time to dodge it. Also agree warrior is better at range than a ranger and isn’t useless when the gap closes like a ranger is. I want to like my ranger but until anet caves and gives us an option to get rid of the stupid pet and boost our dmg class will always be garbage. Traits are terrible pet ai is terrible dmg output is terrible utilites are terrible weapon skills are terrible condition removal is terrible condition output is terrible. Pretty much everything is terrible compared to other classes.
Seriously something needs to be done about it. Nothing annoys me more than losing a fully upgraded tower cus a blob showed up and put down 3 or more superior rams and down the gate and cap tower in a minute or so. Now with ram mastery its just kittened how fast even a reinforced gate drops. Maybe the other superior siege can stay but the superior rams got to go or get there dps dropped a lot.
Its obvious somebody is on stacked JQ and upset with queue times. Here is to hoping that the winning rewards are garbage and people transfer back to lesser populated servers to avoid the queue. By the way we have a queue for about an hour after reset on eb and our bl. Afer that no queue the rest of the week.
Week 4 about to hit. We (DR) might get our only semi decent match of the league. DH will win of course but we used to face them often and there numbers weren’t near what hod sf or gom is putting out unless things have changed since our last bout. Speaking of this is probably the deciding week of the league with hod sf and gom all playing each other. We will get to see which is putting out the most numbers/coverage since we all know that’s what wins wvw. If I had to guess since we have played all 3 already I think sf put out the most coverage.
Or you could not give special rewards to the winning servers forcing everybody to stack the winning servers.
I was an outspoken opponent to leagues.
I was wrong.
Just look at what happened to my server, GoM. We had been trying for months to reach out to our PvE community. Leagues did more in a week than our two months of work. Best part, our PvE population decided that WvW is fun and did not leave when they completed the achievements. In fact, they started begging for WvW training.
I recently taught the second session of that WvW training workshop. It was supposed to be 1 hour long, about siege tactics. However, our former “PvE players” where so enthralled that they dragged it out for an extra hour with questions and ideas. Then they funded a massive omega golem rush.
Leagues are the best thing to ever happened to my server.
^ is enjoying it cus there server was one of the winners of the tanking wars to get into bronze league where you vastly outnumber pretty much all the other servers therefore your winning. We had outmanned buff pretty much 20ish out of 24 hours a day the 7 days we played gom.
I used to tag up often before leagues. After leagues started though I just don’t even bother anymore. We are always facing servers with a huge player/coverage advantage now. Every Night since league started no matter who is commanding we slowly lose everything in our bl and eb. Sometimes if were really really lucky we can hold them off at our eb keep and just back cap everything over and over. Old gliko system was better. Ya we faced a lot of the same servers over and over but they were good matches. Not the stupid blowouts we have had every week of league.
One of the biggest problems I see is Tower defense/offense strongly favors the attackers. The cannon boiling oil and pretty much all arrow carts and balistas have to be placed so they can easily be aoe’d down in seconds. Rams superior especially do an insane amount of dmg so you can break even a reinforced door down in seconds. So once the defensive siege is down stack on door with rams profit. Or stack on wall with catas profit. Aoe can only hit 5 people so 30+ people stacked on your door= win.
Maybe its just me but I feel the defenders of a tower/keep should have a big advantage but I just don’t see it right now.
I think they just need to make a few adjustments. Rams superior especially need to have dmg reduced. Bali’s need to have dmg increased to other siege. Its supposed to be the anti siege wep yet its dmg is pretty crap to siege weps. Mortar are the true anti siege wep. Trebs need to have range reduced so we can end this stupid treb the enemy tower from stonemist third floor type crap. Trebs should need to be placed out in the open, on a hill or something. Somwhere the enemy can get to them and not the safety of a tower supply depot etc…. Last range of weapons like say ranger longbow for example should be reduced when shooting up over a wall. Right now you can’t put an arrow cart down anywhere the offensive zerg can’t just aoe it down real fast.
Somebody mentioned in another thread an easy idea I kinda liked. Give us more pets to swap. Like say we can have 4 pets to swap. If one dies it gets put on 60 second cooldown. Having 4 pets we would pretty much always have pet uptime.

Ranger hands down no contest. A ranger tried to run away today from the zerg after we capped a tower. The commander goes chase that ranger down and teach him not to play ranger in wvw lol.
