@Tarn, yeah, you are kinda right on the fact that they will lack copper for crafting this way. but i wouldn’t do the thing where you have a chance to get something high tier from low tier node, because than you could just go to high tier areas and stay there and get more from them. The areas have to be the same in getting loot/rewards.

I think i better idea would be, if you are under 15, all nodes are copper, if under lvl30 all nodes are either copper or iron/sivler, if under 55, nodes are copper/iron/silver/gold/plat. and so on.. And with crafting you can take lower lvl tiers and transmutate them into a higher tier (2-3 for 1). So early crafting will be easy, and the higher level you become the harder it is to find the materials you need, making it harder to craft. This makes sure that gathering on low level is important, but also helps you level. Also it makes higher tiers more expensive and crafting harder the higher your tier is.

It’s actually a simpel idea, but i think i made a bit complex in my explenation

How about have high level bosses occasionally go to low level areas also?

That’s an awesome idea. It reminds me of another game. How it was there, every x hours a boss would show up, everyone in that area got a message in their chat saying that the boss spawned, the only thing is, the boss spawn on a random place. Everyone goes running around looking for that boss, it’s freaking epic When he got killed, the server would send a message to all players from that server, saying: <guy with most dmg on boss> has slain <boss name>! .. good times

To start of, vertical progression causes you to never go back to old content/zones.
So something that would fix this is, (because there is down-scaling) making the mining/tree/plant nodes type randomized in every area. So even in level 1-10 you have mithril/gold/silver/… But there has to be a level requirement for the nodes so you can’t take mithril from level 1. You will have less copper between 1-10, but you’ll still find copper between 10-80. And on level 80 you can still go to low level areas and get mithril or orichalcum. The logic thing because there is down-scaling is that mobs drop items with the same value at level 80 (so drops based on your level).

Anet is talking about making you go back to old zones and have the same experience, well this is how you do it.

Here are the issues with the vertical scaling:

1. It’s grindy
2. It creates brackets. You can’t do content with other players unless your character levels / gear scores are sufficiently close
3. It causes power creep. Content is initially too difficult, but once players obtain the gear to do the content, it becomes progressively less difficult until it’s trivial
4. It creates dead zones and content. This happens when the bulk of active characters are at level cap and whenever expansions are released with new content

Here are the benefits of horizontal scaling:

1. There are no brackets due to level or gear score. You can roll a new character and immediately group with other more-experienced characters
2. It levels the playing field in PVE and PVP. Performing well isn’t about your level or gear score, it’s about your ability to play your character effectively and work in a team
3. Content (zones, instances, etc) stays relevant forever

the mission in elona where you had to defend 3 towers, there were i think 4or5 portals around those spawn monsters attacking the towers and each portal had a boss to defend it. That required strategie. it would be cool to see that back.

Anet logic in gw1 , if you completed the game, you could like choose an extoic weapon. only exotics were green in gw1. But yeah gw2 = 0 logic, i think their whole programming stuff about drop-rates & rewards is some simple code that generates stuff randomly so they don’t have to put any work into the reward system.

yeah, i don’t know where you got that gw1 mesmer are musicians… never seen any hint about that in gw1.. Still i think bard should be a new class in the future. After paragon. But i have to say though, gw2 armors are sooo bad,, gw1 had style and looked awesome. I don’t get how these developers are going backwards. Maybe they stopped thinking when they as a company got enough money to not care anymore.

STOP BALANCING PVE BY BALANCING PVP.. For real.. how stupid can you be, even gw1 knew that. In gw1 you could have a skill that acted different in pvp than in pve just to make it usefull and balance it for both sides. did anet fall on their head and forgot everything they’ve done in the past?

GW1 had a better weapon system. But if we take the gw1 warrior, we can actually put his weapon system in gw2. It goes like this. You have different skills, axe mastery skills, hammer, sword, etc… You can just pick whatever skill you want from the list and put it into your skill-bar, only, you have to be sure to be equiping that weapon before you can use those skills.. So gw2 just needs to make a weapon tab, put 5 skill slots up for each possible weapon (3 for main hand & 2offhand), and give you a list of skills to choose from, around 10 skills for each weapon atleast. Super simple, they could probably do that in like 1 week or something, but they are just lazy and have to follow protocols in their company, so it would like take 1 year or something for them to create that.

Also, roles in gw2 are working as intended.
the problem is puggers don’t really care to ask the fundamental questions after the party has been formed.

1 – who will take care of support?
2 – who will take care of control?
3 – who is going to dps?

these 3 questions solve a lot of issues, shortcomings and wipes.
if you do not ask you end up with 5 dps !

Just go 5 dps, way faster, you won’t wipe if you know how to play.

The alternative to the current system exists in every other fantasy MMO out there. I used to DJ some time ago and patrons would come up to me for requests, “Can you play some Nine Inch Nails?”, “Sure, what song did you have in mind?”, “Can you play Closer?”, “I can but I won’t and here’s why. Every other club you go to will play that exact same NiN song every night, everyone else plays that same song. We’re not everyone else. I’ll play NiN for you, but it’s gonna be a different song.” It was, until I stopped doing it, the busiest club in the scene for 5 years.

GW2 is not every other MMO, stop trying to make it like every other MMO because that is what you are used to playing.

It’s not because you have 2 cars, that they are the same… we don’t want a wow clone, i find that game so boring, still GW1 had a trinity, but that game was so good. I think we need to bring back deck-building instead of looking for a trinity system first.

they should make bosses have less HP, but more DMG (not with 1 spell, but just more dmg over time).
example: bosses puts major load of conditions on everyone, your team needs to group up and AoE clean conditions, if you don’t, you die. simple. And that’s teamwork.

I haven’t been playing much, i just started again, i did some fractals, it’s better than normal dungeons. I didn’t have the time yet to level up my fractals level. i was kinda talking about normal dungeons, i mean yesterday, i did cof expl. because i just started playing again after months, i had no idea what to do. Still it was soooo easy, i just ran around and we did the dungeon in like 15min. I was like.. what.. how can we do this.. i don’t even know what to do, i just guesse.. does this require actually any skill or brain to complete =/ it made me sad

i agree, if you go to the karka area, if you kill a small normal karka, you can get an exotic (i had this). and every single time i spend 5min to kill a big vet karka, i get nothing. They should like atleast give you 100% green drop. it doesn’t even make sense why that small karka can drop an exotic :s it would be like if you kill a normal mob in gw1 and it drops a greeny

The problem is you have 30 skills, 10 PVP 10 Never usefull , 10 PVE
Result: Same skills from level 30-80.. Freakin boring.
In GW1 my characters could choose between like 400-500 different skills

I think you missed the whole point in what they were shooting for build wise in this game. Did you seriously buy this game thinking that they were lying when they promoted the idea that the holy trinity isn’t in GW2 (although this can be argued in the games current state in terms of PvP)? You know what makes you feel special in this game? Your own ability to perform well in combat with your profession. So if you don’t feel special, you think you aren’t good. Tell me I’m wrong.

You can’t perform well in this game.. it’s so easy, it doesn’t even matter if you die! It’s not about the holy trinity, it doesn’t have to be with healers and tanks,, it can be like full support (blind, hpregen, dmg reduce) , blockers (pure cc, mind control stuff, daze, …), dps, runners (shadow skills to get to objects in the dungeon easyer), Spirit/Aura placers, Hex casters… dude.. u can think of so much stuff.. GW2 = dps only, no braining all day long. 0 creativity

Hi,

Me & friend talked alot about this and we hate it how gw2 turned out. Although everything is there, it doesn’t work. I’m talking about builds. We miss the aspect of being in front of a dungeon gate/portal/statue. Creating a group where people need a specific build that can do a specific role inside the dungeon. We feel that GW2 doesn’t make you special at what you do in the game, you are just another player. At the moment you can just pick any random smart player with whatever his build is and you just faceroll the dungeon. Arenanet putted a system in the game that lets you choose your own build, but there is almost no varriation in them. Instead of giving everyone a heal, why not make sure everyone can make a pure support/heal build for your team. Or make a tank build.. You can go as tanky as you want in GW2. You still can’t tank.

If this would change, and dungeons get alot harder. Damn, i would love to play GW again. Also fighting against 1 mob for 2min with 5 people is kinda boring.

Yeah also thought about this a few months ago. And it’s really sad how bad these maps are designed. In GW1 areas felt like a part of the world. In GW2 it’s like random squared areas copy pasted together.

GW1 had bots. For example, there was a time when you’d run into a conga line of bot monks at Elona Reach.

Yeah, but they just banned the bots and they were gone.. i haven’t seen a bot in GW1 in all my years of playing. I know there were some, but never for long.

Yea, with a game that was release about 2 months ago? Really? I trust A-net will bring justice to the reward system. If they did a grand job with it in GW1, what makes you think they’ll fail doing it in GW2? They are focusing on many other stuff at the moment. Just watch and see GW2 grow =)

I don’t know. I’m used to the LoL/Riot community and they bring so many changes,, maybe anet does this also but i feel like anet isn’t letting the community know what is comming up. OR… i just have no clue where to look

They have said they are looking at redoing the loot in dungoens. I assume they will also consider champions and stuff in this also

How to fix: remove the DR system. Ban bot accounts permanently over and over again. Don’t lower GW2 prices from the game itself. Bot companies have to keep buying new accounts. → it costs to much money after a while. They stop botting.

My problem with rewards in GW2 (dungeons)

GW2:
-> XP + a few silver + 50-60 tokens = nothing almost
GW1:
-> Rare crafting materials (multiple)
-> Keys to unlock chests around the map for sometimes special drops
-> Scrolls (verry useful)
-> Tons of XP
-> Rare weapon/offhand drop (with a verry verry small chance to get something like a legendary item else it’s just gold/exotic)

GW2 Veteran/Champion kill:
-> Chance to get crap
GW1 Boss(same as vet./champ.) kill:
-> Chance to get rare weapon / tome / elite tome …

The main game is an 8 ... crafting is a 3 ...trading post is a 1

fix: soulbound crafting items from dungeons (only for the last levels from each TIER)
result: people will play more dungeons & people pay more for the crafted item.

I feel like using the same skills 24/7.. actually when i level.. i have the same skills from lvl 20 until 80. Also if i play on my necro, i have no decent speed buffs, when i play on my engineer, i run with 33% speed buff 24/7. I can just keep my 33% up and never let it end. (no-bug).

It’s sooooo lame that you have to buy exotics from a vendor :s It takes away the rareness of ALL the items. It’s like, you have a full exotic set, but it doesn’t feel good because like right next to you is a vendor that just sells it all :s so it doesn’t even feel good. that’s where GW1 or almost any other game was different, you actually have to be lucky to get a drop from a chest, which is verry exciting. I miss that

Hi there,

I think the game needs more options on how you want to build your character and what your goal is in a group. If you are looking at your traits, you already have things like healing or boon duration or conditions dmg, etc… but most classes lack skills in certain trait lines.

As an example, we can look at the trait line that gives you extra healing & vitality. You like healing and supporting etc.. but isn’t it funny that 90% of your skills are DPS. That’s why i think you should get 2 skills (1 for your weapon & 1 ultity) for each 10 points you put in a certain trait line.

And yes, that’s one more thing, they should add extra skills for your weapons. I’m sure anet can think of more than 5 abilities that u can do with a sword or bow… it’s a frea-kin fantasy game,, use your imagination for once

I want a tirinity,, without that, anyone can be replaced by anyone, and people wanna feel special when they are in a group. Creating a new tirinity isn’t that hard. For example you could take for dungeons: Tank(REAL TANKS)/Support(remove cond. +heal +protection)/DPS/Stealthers(so tank gets all aggro)/Runners(create objectives in the dungeons that require run-builds(like GW1 assassins, SoO)) … and just make sure that only that is their job and don’t make them DPS cus that SUCKS! also we shouldn’t follow a surten path inside a dungeon, gw1 fow/uw was way better as a dungeon system.
