Eh, I just got the LFG form LFM backwards. I’m tired and too many acronims.
You should really think about how you sound, your contribution is nothing but to troll with your post.
Thank you verry much sir The troll cave is always open. Please come and visit us.
Crit heals don’t really make sense,, for damage it’s like you hitted him on a weak spot, like the back of his head. Crit heals would be like.. having an orgasm? I don’t know But if heals are too weak vs. crit,, they should just buff the base amount of healing (in my opinion).
Anet should just bann them automaticly, it really easy to find bots/warpers (=cheat, not hack) with some simple coding. You could even extend it with some machine learning algorithm, which isn’t really so hard in games, but my guesse is that anet is either too unskilled developer wise or they have a monkey standing over them, saying “NO!”. You can however send an email to them, but i don’t think it will do much. & btw, i don’t think you meant a “hacker”, you can’t really record a hacker, you can record a cheater though. Have a nice day
I fully agree, arenanet does not care about their fanbase. The GW1 community made them big, GW2 is just a “kitten#8221; in the face for them. From elitism speed clears to simple lore, everything is gone. & lets not forget the deckbuilding & attribute points, RIP However, arenanet has great potential with it’s game to fix alot of this stuff. The deckbuilding, teamwork based fights & lore could easly be fixed if they decide to do it NOW! (if they had it from the beginning, they would have 100 times more active players for sure = more profit = more fun = more happy = winwin)
oh & btw, why it would be cool if more developers could join the forums & give their acutal opinion instead of explaining what is comming in the future for gw2.
(edited by CoRtex.2157)
Ofcourse they need to help you! If you buy items in the game, you are basicly paying for a service because the items in the game cost 0.0000$ for anet to make. The least thing they can do is provide you with support after you gave them money. I’m not a wow player, but i’ve played it a couple of months, and if i call them, dammn,, such good support, much like, wow! :o <3
> vim gw2fun.js
var fun = require(‘GW2Fun’);
fun.init();
:wq
> node gw2fun.js
> * ERROR * unknown function “init()” in object “fun”
> * ERROR * closing application : error(2)
there’s one thing you may never do, to get your precursor: Buying gems! cus then, you might have your legendary, but meanwhile, anet kitten you over twice. They have your money and you used a kinda cheaty way to get your item = less rewarding feels
I think it’s a great idea… & makes sense
So everyone who is looking for class or race changes, I propose a fun way to do it, yet costs no money.
At lvl 80, at a specific area, you can pay an amount of gold, karma, and skill points to go through a rebirth process. When that happens, you go through the create your character process again, while retaining your name.
What you keep:
-All your currencies
-All your bags and items(transferred to the bank)
-Your world completion*
-Your crafting materials and recipes, but not your levelBenefits:
-A 5% increase to your total stats every time you rebirth(10% max)
-Skills according to what class and race you were in your previous livesFor example, if you were an Asura Mesmer before you were reborn, you would have a small chance to create an illusion that deals low damage when you cast a skill, and once per day you can get into one of those Asuran golems.
Open to suggestions!
*You get all your world exploration Exp and waypoints back when you enter the area, not right at the start.
Increase of stats = worste idea ever. Why… … … would you do that, it just forces you to do a rebirth 2 times. Makes no sense… You didn’t mention it, but if you’re charracter becomes lvl 1 again, that means, the max level of the game is lvl 240. >_<

The real problem is that everything is PURE RNG. Exotics get dropped by random mobs instead of being dropped by a certain challange+RNG. This makes sure there’s no choice between getting the item or buying the item. Resulting in a demand only system. But not only that, you are playing a game we’re you cannot get the item by doing a certain challange… YOU CANT PLAY THE GAME WITH A CERTAIN GOAL, the only goal you can have, is earning gold. But everything gives you gold.. But the real sad thing is, the harder the content doesn’t mean you earn more gold. On top of that, the easyer & faster you can do something, the more gold you get. = GRIND. = NO FUN. That’s how bad it’s designed. Totally the opposite of GW1. So sad Throw a bunch of gold sinks on top of that all and you can guesse how kittened up the system is. Worste game design ever (economics wise).

Ok so gw2 says they have 460k concurrent players after one year. Do uyouthink this is true. If so do you think gw2 still has this number of players today?
Ofcourse it’s not true, lol. Any company will make the most crazy calculations as long as the resulting number is higher. Why? Moneyzzzz. Investors etc… you can probably slice it in half.
Hate: nothing
Also consider that “hate” is such a strong word, and it baffles me all the time how mindlessly people throw it around without actually understanding its true meaning. That being said…
Maybe you don’t understand humans and you think like a computer… kinda like sheldon from the big bang theory. Every other person knows, that with ‘hate’, we mean ‘dislike’,
can’t actually believe people think there are skills in this game lol :P it’s faceroll, you don’t even have to know what you are doing in a dungeon and you can still complete it easly. OR… OR.. maybe… people confuse skill (like in how good you are) with skills (in like abilities of your class), hmmmmm, wow, mind blown,, i had to dig so deep in to my brain to figure out how n00bs think, it’s like, they are living outside ‘the box’. Mind blown… really..
Hate: RNG, cus that’s what makes you play the game without a purpose
Like: The leveling is fast/fun, worse than gw1 though, too many levels in gw2
Well gw2 is a skill based game because you need a high level of nooborology and noobilism in order to play it. If you don’t have that, well.. you won’t make it verry far in the game.
This is your opinion and I do not share it. In my opinion your statement is entirely false. I realy like the story and the mechanics of GW2. Compared to GW1 I had a hard time focusing on the story and get a feeling for the world until the end of Profecies and Factions, Nightfall was on the other hand perfect. I liked the story of EotN too.
GW2 story is realy interesting and makes me wanna see more, both LS and Main story and I realy hope that LS will mix in with the main story later.
Lol, gw2 interesting story… lol… Gotta find a my lost sister,, yeah, verry interesting… lol :P then there’s this uber epic dragon, and he doesn’t even do anything xD looool
ArenaNet has been dead since Eye of the North any way. Wouldn’t surprise me if most of the good developers left and people like Isaiah Cartwright stayed. You can notice the change in thematics, writing, priorities. Much the same as in GW2 it’s just a run off the mill game.
I played GW1 for 5000 hours, got a gold cape, got pretty much everything I wanted and I am done with it. I hoped GW2 would be more of the same revolutionary formula, but it became very clear GW2 is envisioned by business men instead of gamers. The whole ‘manifesto’ was based on lies: the game was developed with an appeal to the masses and ease of use from the beginning, ultimately making it a rather shallow experience that is interchangeable with pretty much any other MMO in the market.
You know why people are angry? They supported ANet and made them big, they played and waited for GW2 for over five years. This is the thanks they get.
yes, exactly! They created a money game instead a follow up game of gw1
I understand, but GW2 is not a vocation. A game is only going to be able to offer you so much, even if it is constantly updated. Once you utterly exhaust a specific item of entertainment you are meant to move on, or enjoy it more sparingly. The time you want to spend in any given game is going to be finite, it could be a week, it could be a lifetime, but it will come to an end! Moving on is fine (er, as is dying).
It’s part of the natural order. For many others, new or old, your exhaustion is your concern, and that’s why posts like this are often attacked or criticized. Tired of the same beer? Start tasting new ones
Nope you’re wrong, games can be played for as long as you want, as long as you feel improvement, therefor there needs to be a challange in the game, which there isnt. I’ve played a shooter for 7 years, i’ve played gw1 for 5 years, i’ve played league of legends for 3 years. GW2 is just like an empty world, and you can run around in it, but there’s actually nothing to do. It’s like real life without jobs, jobs are needed to feel important and for a feel of improvement to yourself,, yes you could just hang with friends all the time, but what.. u gonna smoke weed all day, that’s gonna get depressing and people would just killl themselfs. No goal = no reason to play the game,, that’s how it goes.
Btw Anet, people actually know that grind isnt a goal (ascended), its a waste of time
(edited by CoRtex.2157)
People dont seem to understand that gw2 killed gw1. Its not possible to play gw1 like it was before. people went to play gw2, then stopped playing after 2 months because it wasnt anything like gw1, and because gw1 isnt going to get any new content or new players, there’s no reason to keep playing it. Best solution, get the old gw1 dev team back and let them make a new expansion while gw2 has another team working on their game.
Ok, so this is just an example on how it should have been in dungeons etc, because to be honest, compared to gw1, you actually dont do anything in a team in gw2
So, you have a pack of mobs that you have to pass, your team exists of a guardian, 2 elemetalists, an engineer and a mesmer
the ele speeds up the guardian, the guardian sprints to the mob pack, jumps in with a hammer skill, pulls them together with a skill, uses a spell that creates a circle so they can not leave, swaps to sword, and teleports out of it.
While all that was happening the engineer placed a turret that buffs the serrounding allies in attack power, using his elixir gun, he can shoot out an elixir to the elementalists that boost their casting speed, next he takes his grenade kit and throws grenades to the mobs that explode when they are hit by an element like fire, ice, lightning, .. and explode causing the dmg from the element type it got hit by, lets take lightning for example,
Next we have the mesmer in the team, his job is to silence the monsters, to prevent them from casting skills that can interrupt the elementalists or make them escape the circle, although the guardian had traits that made the duration of the circle longer, it is now running out of time and the mesmer using his magic to create a new circle, next he casts a storm around the monsters, giving them damage and weakening them towards lightning damage
The elemetalists are using all lightning damage, together with the grenades of the engineer and the weakening spell of the mesmer, they fire their lightning spells on the mobs, meanwhile the guardian jumps back in with his ultimate hammer skill, knocking all enemies down in aoe for 3 seconds and make them get double dmg while knockdown.
BAMM! 6-8 seconds have gone by and the mobs are dead,, everyone cheers for the great teamwork and they continue their journey towards the end of the dungeon.
Now that, in my eyes, is how it should be, working as a team. instead of face rolling over your keyboard untill mosters die. But, this is just a quick idea, im sure you can expand this idea way more, with other skills, tactics, etc..
A team based mmo should be like working as a team, it should be hard to execute,, it should be a challange, that’s what makes a game fun,, if you dont like a good challange,, well, maybe you are just not a gamer…
P2Bequal. That’s a new one for P2W I haven’t heard before. Whatever you would need to call it friend
Winning implies one person being better off than another…
or do you define winning differently than every other English speaking person?
If everyone ends up equal, then there are no winners.
You’re right, but it’s just stupid if you can give money to be equal, it basicly makes every legendary, or whatever, worthless. One could be playing for 6 months to get his legendary & someone else could buy it in 10min. Some people are just richer than other people in real life. It makes playing the game feel less rewarding, you’re better off not playing it, make some real life money and buy your stuff, because it’s faster.
PvP isn’t pay 2 win, PvE.. well.. you can’t really “win” in Gw2 pve. The game is based on cosmetics,, and normally cosmetics are a representation of your skill, but in Gw2 you don’t have that, because there’s no skill, only grind. Gw2 is more like second life, where you can buy stuff with real money so you can pretend you’re something that you’re not while not realising you’re actually pretty pathetic for wasting real life money on nothing instead of giving to something usefull in life. Aslo, because it’s a GAME, games are made for fun, you’re playing it because you want a challange. If that doesn’t count for u, well maybe you’re just not a gamer, you’re just extremely bored in real life. So yeah, i wouldn’t call it P2W.
In the mind of arenanet: Grind is awesome, such profit $$$ , many gems $$$ , wow!
the only thing they improved on, is the change of magic find. Playing since beta.
Rank 6 Kurzick took 1,200,000 faction to earn.
The most optimal Kurzick farm earned you like 40,000 an hour.
That’s approximately 30 horus STRAIGHT of doing a repetitive task over, and over, and over again. For one title track. How is this NOT a grind?
I’ve done 1mil factions in 1 day, was alot of fun, getting better & faster each run. How is it not a grind? If i have to do it 1 day and maybe next month i’ll do it again for funzies.. then it’s not a grind. if you have to do something for 2 weeks straight where there’s no brain power required, just so u can get that 1 item, then it’s a grind. btw, the max title is only 10 million. also i think you only need like 900k for max stats on your faction skills.
I think i’ll go for a total of ZER0. Why waste my time
Can someone who knows the GW2 lore, tell me where the square mountains came from? See attachment if you don’t know what i mean.
You will realize, i am not here to qq moan or troll aimlessly…i am here to help this game. Why? Because i have faith in the devs and the company. Why? Because they provided Gw1 whitch was not as brilliant at first, but they realized the mistakes they made and improved the game to the point, it became amazing with the first expansion.
GW1 was AWESOME when there were no expansions yet. OMG i miss those days, running with my W/Mo warrior to droknar & from Deldrimor warcamp to Granite Citadel with my SB Mo/R monk,, farming like a nooby for totem axes griphons & trolls for money. Gooooooood times :P The only good that came after that was the assassin, super fun class to farm greenies & groups of mobs, after that speedclears came, which were AWESOME
i never really got in to DoA, i didn’t meet the right people =/ Just saying, before expansion, there was alot of fun,, & DYE farming :o forgot about that :P But overal, i missed the running for gold, it died shortly after the first expansion
1. DPS only gameplay staph plz!, where is the group play? Where are to epic group combos you could make?
2. Skills, elite skills are trash in GW2. Weapon bound skills is just lazy game design. Why can i have all skills in like a few weeks? In GW1, i played 4 years and i didn’t have all the skills.
3. What is this vertical progression stuff? I want horizontal progression like u promised.
4. Dodging… another lazy design concept, instead of someone protecting you, you need to protect yourself with 1 ability… How boring is that! Also it’s anti-team play.
5. Capes & guildhalls, capes can easly be made, the developers are just too un-skilled. Guildhalls, they don’t want to make them because it’s not original O_O I’ve only played 1 game that ever had guild halls and it was GW1. I know there are some others, but hell, not many games have them and they are awesome! Probably too lazy to make them…
What i thought before the game launched, is that they said, that any profession could be a healer, tank, dps or something else,, Which would be epic, instead it was, self heals,, tanks aren’t really tanky, and everyone HAS to do DPS… The GW1 model was way better. U had, hexers, spikers, healers, support, conditioners, tanks, runners, interrupters, …. i miss it
Capes were the best in GW1. I remember having my silver border, RIP memories.
0$ and it makes me happy :-) I rather spend my money on good games like GW1.
I’d rather have GW1 upgraded:
- Loads of skills
- No weapon bound skills
- GW1 lore, i mean, GW2 lore is pathetic
- GvG , with ladder
- No zergs,
- Instanced areas, not everything, but like 50/50
- No Square maps,
- CAPES!
- Bosses running around the world that give you the ability to capture an elite skill
- Fow/Uw , speedclearing
- Instanced missions that unlock the next area (with henchies or heroes)
- REAL horizontal progression like GW1
- GW1 armors, elite armors
- Random arenas
- No down state , it makes pvp stupid & unrewarding
- Healers, for PvE & PvP’s sake, it doesn’t even need to be a healer class, you should just be able to heal your entire party as an ele or necro or …
- Lower HP on mobs, better AI
- Targetable buffs, Monsters with targetable attacks
- Hexes (really, bring this back)
- No stacks on conditions, If it’s bleeding, it’s bleeding. (= better for servers anyway)
- No auction house (I love being in an active trade city)
- Free teleports (= no goldsinks)
- NO RNG!
- Effort = reward
- No dodging, i rather use counter spells, they require skill and this leaves way more customization for combat instead of a dodge skill as your only defense against everything.
- No rip-off manifesto, if you promise everyone a black ferrari, you don’t give them a pink golf car. That’s just taking a dld0 and putting it where…
- No banning people because you made a mistake in your own game! It’s like calling the police on someone because you sold him something for free. Just roll-back their acc. like a human being. Calling your game the best, but banning people that find a bug in the game is just sad, anti-social and makes u look like some dictator inside your own game.
All in all, just a SKILL based game where people actually have to communicate with eachother and without anti-social systems like paid teleports
(edited by CoRtex.2157)
If grinding isn’t fun then why are so many people doing it? I sit here as a casual player and read one post about how ArenaNet has sold out and introduced mindless grinds for every post I hear about someone who has finished the game and only logs in for Living Story content.
The truth is that I enjoy having something (for me, exotic gear) to work towards, but I also enjoy the game as I’m working towards those rewards. Not only that, when I log in, I feel like I have many options of things I could be doing.
That, to me, is fun.
Grinding isnt working,, GW2 = walking behind garbage truck waiting till youve done it for 8 hours so can go home, GW1 = working hard so you can reach the deadline at the end of the day and if you do, people find u awesome for it. But hey, some people like doing nothing all day, as long as they get their money. It doesnt really matter what u like the most,, its personal,, but one thing is sure, gaming has always been about challanging the player,, thats not what grinding is,, and thats also why GW2 will NEVER be an e-sports game. Unless they actually go back to the roots of GW1.
One hundred billion dollars! i mean 1 copper ;(
Hi, my name is Vayne, i get paid from arenanet to make false statements in order to make it look like GW2 is the best game ever.
Well, if you say soo…
if anything, its GW2 that copies other games
why stacks? because the servers cant handle it,, gw2 is just bad at certain things,, like this website, why doesnt it put my location in a session, so when i login, it brings me back where i came from.. wtf.. its 3 lines of code.. GG to the developer of this
Every post from Jonathan and other devs almost seem like a cry of frustration to me.
Indeed, and Cry of Frustration gives stacks of confusion, which seems the status you are in! /jk
Now really, what basis do you rely your conclusions that the company is experiencing sustainabily instead of growth? With Gigantic gaming companies behind ANet, shaping the business model, do you honestly believe that the actual business model is bad?
“What growth rate they want for Gw2?” This is the real question and the one nor you nor me have the answer to. For you it seems slow and dull, for them it may be perfect this way.
/cheers
The thing is, GW2 is not a big game, it had a big launch because of marketing, but the game itself has not alot of players. Why would you want to grow is not really the question, its about, why is the game growing so slow? The rate of which your game is growing at, is a representation of how good your game is. Which is like the most important thing as a game developer,, knowing that you actually made a good game. So far, gw2 isnt doing that well. Btw, it doesnt take a good game to make money, it only takes good marketing and kids that dont know what good games are.
€0 Because it’s not worth it, anyways, i’ve used in-game gold to buy 4 extra character slots , 2 xtra bank slots, and max env. slots on 2 characters, no need for buying gems, they are not worth the money.
Horizontal progression doesn’t involve handouts.
What do you mean by handouts? like no uber rare drops from dungeon chests? cus that’s how GW1 was, and it was way more horizontal progression than any other mmo out there. GW2 doesn’t even come close. GW1 was all about knowing your profession and putting it into a team aspect forming super combos if you timed them well & together. This is called SKILL. Getting rewarded for skill instead of grinding = horizontal progression. Now… how horizontal is gw2… rofl.. it’s like grindish, but u don’t really get anything for it, special skins can all be bought with REAL money… it’s just sad.
i don’t think it did, wow still best mmo, & no i don’t play that game, but i love following some of it’s community. For me, best mmo will always be Gw1. sux that it had to die for gw2
Here’s a counter argument for all the people who say GW1 isn’t an MMO. yes it’s part co-opRPG. But i don’t see you doing this in a co-op-rpg
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eE0sRwcJIp0
Prophecies → factions → Nightfall → Eotn , kitten need to play GW1 again :p The lore was soooooooooo goooood compared to GW2 rofl, Gw2 lore is a joke
Here’s a lesson about Windows (MicroSoft)
Windows 8 is just trash, the only good thing about it, is the boot time. But still, win8 pc’s use GPT harddrive partition tables. It’s sooooo bad. First thing i did with my win8 laptop from my work, was removing everything and set the partition table to MBR. Why is GPT bad? cus it’s only compatible with win8 and maybe 7, but 7 default is MBR. Microsoft is like the biggest scum company in the software world. MS just tries to make your PC work only with their products. They spent alot of money to spread lies about openGL in order to promote DirectX that only works on their OS, while openGL is faster and works on all OS’s. Can u imagine that all games worked on all systems!! to bad MS had to spend millions to spread the lies, but hey, it kept them popular, cus games are the only reason to use windows. So stupid that schools teach directx instead of openGL cus of MS. MicroSoft makes me sick.
GW1 Trinity, cus that made to whole game so perfect
ectos don’t have drop rates, gold items do, and from that you have to take the salvage rate. I wish ectos became a drop again in some hard instanced area. Atleast exotics will gain some values again.
Best joke in GW1,, standing behind the tree in ToA using some bug,, and say: free ecto’s for the first person that trades me. Then watch all the noobies try to get on that spot Well it was fun until most of the people knew how to do it. It still works though. Good times…
