Gw2 is doing pretty bad profit wise. If you’re game is having the same profit as AION… Then you are doing it wrong. If 1 country for 1 game generates 3 times the profit compared to EU+US combined. Then.. … well you get the point. Gw2 is not generating alot of money. If HoT is bad, Gw2 will most likely die in the next few years.

Well basicly, arenanet doesn’t understand game development. They think they can remove elitism from the game by dumbing it down. But the world doesn’t work that way. The only thing you can do as a player is accepting that elitism will always be there. Elitism exists even in tetris.

This is the main problem with GW2 atm. There are no tanks, supports or anything else other than DPS. In GW2 you are FORCED to play DPS,, if you say you HAD to have a healer in GW1 parties. It’s the same thing. You don’t really have to do it. But everyone does it, because the other options are not viable.

And these are all true, but what are you trying to say???

And about the whole music and art stuff… Ok i’ll create a song,, 1min long and please give me 10$ for it, ok? It’s a rip-off. That’s the point.

You have no idea if it’s a rip off or not. You are making an assumption that the content won’t be worth the price. Have you ever played WOW? Take a look at the other MMOs out there, yes the ones you actually pay money to play, and see how much they charge for an expansion. You consider this a rip off. I do not.

I’ve played wow,, didn’t play it alot though,, i like GW1 more. But i have all expansions and really,, wow expansions are pretty cheap if you see all the content they have. And yes. I don’t know what HoT will have. But it doesn’t have much from what i’ve seen. So… I have to pay €45 for content that might not be there. You can expect dungeons.. doesn’t mean it will have dungeons.

Basicly as a PvE player i’m paying 45€ + 10€ (slot) for “The Heart

CoRtex.2157

Just say no to instanced content.

just say no to more entitled and egoistic behavior within the community thats supposed to be the best online gaming community and people who should be playing single player games with a difficulty slider instead of a MMO.

I highlighted the keyword for you, community. Instanced content for 5 players doesn’t build a community, large scale open world content does. And, asking for special content created just for 5 people to play IS acting far more entitled than asking for more open world content for everyone to play.

You are completely wrong. The larger your group is,, the less social your experience will be. It’s like having friends. You are better of with a few good ones instead of alot that you don’t really know. The smaller the group, the easier it is to connect with them. And this is a FACT. You cannot argue with it. It’s a fact.

GW2 going simple

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

CoRtex.2157

GW1 : Alot of choice,, alot of fun,, pretty balanced game
GW2 : Not much choice,, meta game,, totally unbalanced

Although,, people say with less skills you have more balance… Well.. from what i have seen… GW2 is the most unbalanced game i’ve ever seen. Not even joking.

EDIT: It’s not the amount of skills that make gw2 so unbalanced. It’s more because there are no roles in gw2. Everyone does the same thing,, only different. But only 1 does it the best (with a few exceptions in certain situations)

1) GW1 was not balance, whenever there was a patch people (in general) expected a skill to get nerf or buffed. You never knew when it would happen, skills were adjusted several times trying to find a balance that was never fully reached. GW1 had plenty of meta builds that were posted on pvxwiki. Also, in GW1 people would ask you to ping your builds and if your build was undesirable you were kicked. Or some people would demand for you to run a particular meta build. At least GW2, people aren’t asking us to ping skills 1-5.
2) There are roles in GW2: Damage, Support, and Control. Its up to people to choose what they want to do. There is nearly equivalent freedom of choice in GW2 roles. You can even do traditional roles now, Nomad gear allows someone to be a tank if they wish.

ok… let’s see,
1. Every game needs buffs and nerfs,, gw2 also does it.

2. Meta builds,, you know that in gw1, meta builds were bad builds right? Custom builds were always better, but harder to execute. GW1 meta builds, were the builds that were meant to be easy and decent, not the best builds. Custom > Meta. In GW2 there is only 1 way to do things right because there is no room for customization. If you do customize,, you would perform worse. How are you going to customize your character with only 1-2 elite skills… How are you going to be different than someone else if you have only a few skills to choose from?

3. There is no point what so ever to play support or control. You just all go DPS,, you kill way faster and it’s much safer. I’ve seen runs where people just kill bosses in expl. mode without even giving the boss the chance to attack. lol. Yeah.. you really need support and control haha. I really hope restoration and control become key in HoT. I really do,, it’s the key to success for gw2.

EDIT: Killing bosses in 5 seconds really feels like a bug to me. But it’s how gw2 is designed. I really want to see that changed. BUT! Giving them more HP is ABSOLUTELY the wrong solution. Just make control/support a key factor in defeating a boss. That’s all.

[Survey] Thoughts on farming in GW2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: CoRtex.2157

CoRtex.2157

I agree with “Sinbold”. GW1 had a much better farming concept. In GW1 you did specific challanges where you knew what the reward could be. Doing that challange successfully multiple times would get you the item you always wanted. This felt super rewarding. GW2 feels more like you do all these challanges and you get rewarded with little pieces of nothing. When you have enough,, you go to the shop and you buy the item you want. This feels sad,, because if you can just buy your item in a shop,, it just feels they are copy pasting the item to your inventory. Your items/rewards are not special. Your item won’t represent as a reward for doing a certain challange,, it’s just something you bought in a shop. Like a salvage kit.

Why do people always overstate the difficulty of GW1?
The vast majority of the game can be more or less AFK:ed.

There is of course also the part about everything becoming easy after a while when people have learned how to do it.

Well because it was harder. It wasnt a really hard game, but gw2 is just a joke. In gw1 u had to work together as a team if you wanted todo speedclears, everyone had a specific role. If you had an important role like T1/T2/… u could just destroy the complete run by casting your SF 2 seconds to late.. Your party would probably leave and have to restart the run and but for each run u had to pay 7k for a new conset. So you absolutely didnt want to die. I know after 100 runs it becomes easy. But in gw2, it’s easy from the first time you try. Once i did this dungeon in gw2 (expl.mode). I had absolutely no idea what i had to do,, i just ran around,, i cleared the dungeon in 15min… like… That made me sad.

Considering the balancing nightmare with the ones that already exist, don’t hold your breath.

Are they seriously whining about balance?? They said the same thing in GW1 which had like a 50 times more skills per class. Although, GW1 was really balanced in my opinion. Seems to me that they just use that thing as an excuse. if it’s really unbalanced in gw2, which is possible ofc, maybe they should hire a dev with a higher IQ than 5.

CoRtex.2157

1. I’ve always liked that you needed to learn things in gw1 in order you to be able to complete something,, I kinda miss that in gw2. GW2 is more like a role-playing game. You actually dont need a brain to play gw2.
2. Skill variety. Customizing your way of playing towards the environment of the map.
3. Single target enchantments.
4. Hexes
5. Non stacking conditions, = also better for gw2 servers
6. Instanced areas, i like the open world, but there should also be alot of instanced areas. Like fow etc
7. End-dungeon chests with rare item drop chance
8. Special drops from bosses.
9. Random chests around the map.
10. Healers,, at launch i thought every class could become a healer in gw2. Turns out, they meant that everyone had a heal. That turned out pretty boring.
11. Teamwork, in gw1 you could do the most crazy combinations of builds and deal so much dmg. gw2, more people = more spamming = more dps. In gw2 you dont actually work together. it’s just, if have more people, you deal more dmg.
12. Non squared maps
13. Saving builds and posting them in chat
14. A large world,, once you are 80. you only have a few places on the map where u can go.
15. Max level 20.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

If GW2 is not working then why has it out lasted 2 major mmorpg that play a lot like it? GW1 at the end of the day was not a true mmorpg it was an online game with co-op GW2 is a full open world mmorpg there are just truth to dealing with that type of game vs just the simple “also has online play” type of game.

GW2 could not have done worse. They had so many players and everyone left. Can you imagine that a game from 1998 (also from ncsoft) is making twice as much profit every month compared to gw2? That’s how bad gw2 is doing lol.

Levels - why do we have them?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: CoRtex.2157

CoRtex.2157

Well, i agree with the OP. Why have levels? I liked that gw1 had only 20 levels, because it mattered more “how you played the game”. You could learn from the start what made you a better player, which spells to take, how to position yourself in fights etc.. In leveling mmo, all that is ignored until reaching max level, also, i have never heard anyone saying they liked leveling their character in a mmo. But, i have to say, i’m a bit scared of no levels, it sure is great, but i would want a verry small part in the beginning that gives you some power, like, a trainer, explaining you things and giving your first spells. I don’t know why, but i feel that such thing makes a game good. Not a tutorial, but just something that gives you the feeling that you are getting prepared for an adventure

This thread has really derailed and should probably be closed, but one last thing: you would spend more money filing a lawsuit (that would be immediately tossed out of court) and acquiring a lawyer than you’d spend buying 10 more copies of the game.

My concern is that there may be people here who see your comments and think, “Oh, yeah, this guy read the ToS and thinks it’s okay! So I’ll try it!”

you could always make a program that increases your FOV distance,, better for the eyes and anet doesn’t have to spend time on fixing the problem Learn, c++ or c# together with some ASM & memory address knowledge (Just following “how to give good feedback” that anet posted) oh you might want to make an address signature scanner so it doesn’t break when the game updates.

Off topic, Anet your “how to give good feedback” says “no-one knows best”, so anet doesn’t either… so how can anet define what’s good feedback? hmmm

That program already existed and ArenaNet refused to specify whether it was against TOS or not but hinted that it was.

Well it’s not, if you read the TOS, it doesn’t say anything about memory editing. So it’s legal, as long as it doesn’t automate stuff for you. Anet is not above their own TOS. If they bann you for something that is allowed by the TOS, you can sue them.

Nope. ToS isn’t a legal document. The case would be thrown out of court on the basis that there is no legal ground for sueing. ANet is legally allowed to ban whoever the hell they want from the game.

So you are saying they can let you buy the game and ban you permanently 1 second after your account has been made and be legal? I would call that stealing, the law might find that an act of stealing. It wouldn’t be if it was in the ToS and you accepted it.

Edit: anyhow… Gw2 could idd bann you for anything if they wanted to, cus no-one is going to take the time to sue them. I don’t really mind, just funny how i found a hole in their ToS lol. Gonna go 2 bed, work! work! (orcs). Anet did alot of damage at the start of the game when they banned ALOT of players, even players promoting their game. But yeah, they did break the ToS kinda. Great suggestion on how to violate the Terms of Service and get your account terminated.

How is it a violation? 3rd party software? You could always, inject the game with a dll, then it’s not 3rd party anymore.

ToS state that you cannot modify the game in a way that makes you better, faster, stronger, etc. Anything that gives you an advantage over other players.

Having a wider FoV is certainly an advantage in certain game modes – WvW and sPvP especially.

I haven’t heard of anybody getting banned for hacking FoV, but it’s certainly not worth taking the chance.

Ok, got it,, i’ve read it now, it says you cannot use 3rd party software that automates stuff (Which this does not) , also it does not modify the client or server, it modifies the memory in your pc. So it’s 100% legal to make & use.

you could always make a program that increases your FOV distance,, better for the eyes and anet doesn’t have to spend time on fixing the problem Learn, c++ or c# together with some ASM & memory address knowledge (Just following “how to give good feedback” that anet posted) oh you might want to make an address signature scanner so it doesn’t break when the game updates.

Off topic, Anet your “how to give good feedback” says “no-one knows best”, so anet doesn’t either… so how can anet define what’s good feedback? hmmm

1. Dueling
2. Gods travelling around tyria giving access to the hardest dungeon of the game with awesome rewards.
3. better resource (minnig, woodcutting, …) system, so it’s spread around all the maps or changes based on level, i dunno, can’t think of something real good right now.

I probably read the question wrong, but these things would give me more support in starting a new character because of more activity in tyria

I actually did enjoy the game at launch. Then the naked bearbow bots became the meta. That got fixed thankfully. The “feature” patch will be what determines if I come back fully and enjoy the game again. But everything so far this year has just left me soured.

The bots didn’t get fixed though, it was just not profitable enough anymore for the companies, they had enough gold, but players stopped playing the game, so they couldn’t sell much over the past year. no reason to keep them bots running.
