I agree with a cd. To be able to swap builds on the fly would be a headache in WvW and absolutely horrendous in sPvP seeing as any class could cheese an encounter simply by disengage the fight and changing the build soon as you holster your weapon. Not sure how it would be implemented without being exploited is the tricky part.
The
I have yet meet an RP guild or even a person. As an RP player myself it is pretty difficult to have in game tools for RP’ers not tied to third party instances, not to mention the occasional toxicity in chat when it does happen.
The
I like how FFXIV implemented the barbershop. You take a few quests and bam, permanent hair dresser at your beck and call for only 2k gil (pretty cheap considering how much gil you earn.)
The
We all know Anet is going to be at E3. We all know they’ll be showing guild halls. What we don’t know if that’s all we’re getting. What about this “challenging content?” Will there be a hint on the next specialization? How about one of those “Oh, and by the way….” announcements? It would be a bit of a waste to show JUST Guild Halls and a possible demo. Thoughts?
The
Why don’t you PvE type folks at least wait until Anet covers the challenging content, which they haven’t talked about yet, before deciding there’s nothing else for you in the expansion.
Wait. Soon.™ We’ve been doing that for three years now.

This game is slow as crippled fat tree already.
Dont slow mobility down because of your kitten pvp. guess what? its gonna be bad there too.
How making we slow gonna make the game good? :xUnfortunately, due to Anet’s communication policy and lack of transparency, we are at the point where nothing we, as players, can say will stop them from implementing these changes.
We get the changes they choose to give us, and have no say in it at all.
Three years an still going.

For those upset that their builds are now unreliable because of the stats being removed from the trait system, please post what your builds (traits and gear) are exactly.
Full rabid/givers
The
I like how people are blowing this completely out of proportion. First, some stats will be baseline. The rest into the armor. If you want to be a full power glass cannon will no defense, that’s your problem. The idea was to remove the “freebies” from the traitlines. That means the gear you have its going to determine your codition/damage output. Don’t blame the company for your actions, I don’t expect compensation for my actions. Stop. It.
The
Best strategy is to stay close so can’t get their LB extra dmg at range off. Next you want them to waste their condi clensing traits off and keep up the pressure. 9/10 they are meta power builds so uts pretty easy to burn through those defenses. Last resort is to plague form and spam blind and bleeds.
The
I probably doubt it at this point, but I would imagine they’ll put one for HOT.

I play other things to keep my mind off, or I would be raging in the forums too.

Not sure. E3 is next week.
The
No reason to speed it up even thought i wish they do. August is coming soon. They probably announce preorder next week at e3.
They have yet to show the rest of the specializations, The WvW map and this “challenging content” they keep toting about. I’m thinking more far out like Gamescom or Pax
The
The raw amount of content released doesn’t really matter to players. And it really shouldn’t.
If you want people to do more than just dailies and logging out you probably should.
GW2 at launch had more content than FFXIV will have even after Heavensward hits, and GW2’s mix of fortnightly updates and breaks put out more content on average than FFXIV’s quarterly major content drops do — in fact, FFXIV’s “blistering pace of updates” would be regarded as an “inexcusable content drought” by Guild Wars 2 players.
But I thought the amount of content didn’t matter.
But look at those responses and you see why people think these things. An event run of the Silverwastes, from the end of Time Out through to the Vinewrath, takes one hour from start to finish. There’s also some more to do there in the form of the jumping puzzle. But that content is “faceroll” and “a joke” and therefore somehow doesn’t count.
“A joke” not really but it is faceroll
People spend hours just learning how to clear each part of the Binding Coil of Bahamut — each of these is just a fifteen minute instance, but groups spend hours learning them, and that means that they’re providing far more entertainment than the amount of content they actually represent.
“Strategy” sounds a lot better than pressing 1. At least you feel rewarded when you beat it.

I really hope they are planning to nerf those numbers. I saw that rivaled a traited warrior GS damage. If course the numbers once again aren’t final, which kinda sucks.
? it would nerf they Why
(Why would they nerf it?)
Edit: I hope they DON’T nerf it. That’s what I get for posting on a forum at 3 am. Any way, like I said before the numbers aren’t final but they are stable for now.
The
I’m not sure why people keep saying they have no date set for release.
Any and I mean any software company has a road map which outlines updates, features, and their projected release dates. Projected dates is a key part but when they start their sprints, they know what defects and bugs exist through a serious of uat/qa tasks.
They absolutely have a release date goal set in stone and barring any major setback, it will be released on that date which they will give us when they’re ready.
The key word is goal. When I start the first sprint on a project we know our delivery parameters and most likely an estimate but the exact date 100.000 percent of the work will be done (no ‘padding’ if you are running ahead) is not known before you even look at the problem.
Interestingly, this is something waterfall models do better. You know everything up front before one line of code is written.
What happens if they give us an exact date but still have some major feature(s) to go instead of things with known levels of effort? If an unexpected issue arises (anything from a code problem to the lead dev winding up in the hospital) they will either miss the date or wind up with a shoddy product.
Kinda hurt themselves in the foot when they announced something that wasn’t even close to finished.

I don’t think people are capable of understanding what “when it’s ready” means but this message goes out to all of them. No Anet has not made an official announcement of either the Price nor release date of HOT. The websites that have them available for preorder are not confirmed by NCSoft nor Areananet. They are Placeholders and nothing more. Hope this helps.

Why do people keep assuming that they will not do a single change to the vanilla professions?
Cause Anet didn’t show that they are changing the vanilla Professions.
You know, as long as I can’t see it, it doesn’t exist xD
But they spent hours going through the trait changes!
With no new updates mind you. Everything and ANYTHING is subjected to change since then.

The
If anything they are likely to throw something in there in the sense of a “story.” It would seem highly unbelievable and a little offputting if they just shoehorned in the specialisations without a proper introduction.
Note: Im sure rev will have something, but nothing personal story wise. Remember it’s your race that has a personal story, not the profession

No thnaks 40euro for 1 weapon for each class and reworked traits ? maybe a few maps …
Not worth …. max I’m willing to give is 20 Euro and only to check what Necro Great Sword is about …You’re missing a few features there, like, 90% of them.
Like what ? Precursor craft ? Flying? Useless Mastery Abilities ? Revenant 2 handed hammer throwing ranger? LOL

You might not personally feel like the expansion is going to fit your need for quantity of content, but don’t be disingenuous and pretend like it isn’t coming out with more than you say it is to fit a particular agenda of yours, whatever it may be. From what you’ve typed in your past two posts, you clearly do not know about all of the things they’ve announced so far as you leave most of them out, which is why I called you out on it.
Your opinion isn’t an opinion if you’re claiming for a fact that it’s merely “one more weapon per class and some masteries, maybe a map”.
To play devil’s advocate for a minute, at first taking a glance at what was to come it sounded like a glorified paid feature pack with a map thrown in as a bonus. But then again I’m playing the waiting game like everyone else, so I’m going to stay completely neutral to the matter to whenever get another more in depth look on these features.
But that’s perfectly reasonable to do. We don’t know all of the information, but we do know a good bit and it’s much more than they would ever do in a single update patch. I’m also holding back my excitement because I don’t feel like overhyping it. I would rather have it pleasantly surprise me with more than I thought it would have. I’m a little antsy about the “challenging content” information, because this might be the big part, but again trying to not get too hyped.
To be fair…
I’m a veteran GW1 player. During the 5 year wait for GW2 there where always a lot of people qq-ing bout the lack of features and the lack of content that the game would have. In the end it turned out to be a lot bigger then we all expected.I truly think that there is a lot more in HoT then what is told to us so far. Keep in mind they confirmed that they where working on “other stuff then the living world and feature packs” atleast since summer 2013. They only just told us it would be an expansion.
There is also a good reason they can’t tell us everything yet. You might have noticed, but many other games have copied stuff from GW2. Arenanet is revolutionary in the way they aproach the genre. Telling us everything also means that competitors know.
Even if the price would be 60 euro’s and even if the content would be dissapointing, I would still get. Arenanet, to me, has changed the way to think bout mmorpg’s. the lack of monthly fees is totally worth spending 60 euro’s again!
Compared to some other games it is still a 100 euro win per year (60 euro’s for the original game, means 20 euro per year, compared to 120 euro’s on monthly fees a year, that is a 100 euro gain to me)
If you have some links or sources to the games that allegedly copied GW2, I’d like to see them. Not to call you a liar or anything, but I want to research that for myself.
To jump on what you said earlier about people crying about missing features or lack of content, yeah that’s been going on way before beta. Anet is no stranger to controversy, whether it’s content or whatever. I don’t think it’s directly “Oh, we don’t want our competitors to know what we’re doing” and I think their self restricting policies had a hand in that issue. What I do think is people thinking they’re going to get a subscription-ish expansion and some will be disappointed no matter how much content is in there.

I like how they camp their turrets as a form of useful defense. Since the turret nerf, they tend to high tail it out of there the minute the turrets are gone.

I heard Wildstar is going F2P and that they fixed all the major issues. Might give that a try. Has improved combat over GW2 and much better designed dungeons/content.
If they fixed leveling, performance issues and crafting then that might be my new home since it doesn’t seem like Anet has any interest left in adding content for this game.
Actually I’m interested in that some people compared the dungeons and said that they far surpassed GW2 in terms of dungeons and difficulty.

Just curious since either there’s a thread based on false announcements (ie; HOT pre orders/ announcement date speculation) or people plain raging on “lack of content.”
What I’m currently doing:
•Doing GW2 dailies
•Catching up on FFXIV patches before that expack drops
•Waiting on the Wildstar beta announcement
•Grinding through The Witcher 2 (sorry Witcher 3, you’re gonna have to wait)
•Anime visual novels (because why TF not?!)
•Phantasy Star Online 2 (running off a tweaker)
So, what are you guys doing to occupy your time….well besides raging in a thread?
