Some people don’t even bother to read! I am not suggesting a normal mound thing, not a pet that you can have in your inventory and use anywhere any time. I am suggesting a map mechaning, that instead of using mushrooms, summon a glider, or gather aspects, you can use creatures from the nature around you, mount them to reach special places, pass dangerous places easier or achieve reaching events faster.

I don’t get why so much hate from some people… how this could destroy your precious game play? Even if they add normal mounts, which I am not suggesting, cause I don’t really care about them, what could make it that terrible. Don’t get the mastery if you don’t like it! (if they do it anyways, this is just an idea).

Short answer: Even if one WP is contested you can still make to an event on time. Too many WP in the game to even consider a mount or even a quick travel mount. There’s quickness and utilities for you to traverse the map quicker even without mounts.

Teq and TT can’t be considered challenging, all it takes is a crap load of players (WAY more than raids, mind you).

It took nearly a month to figure out the mechanics to Teq since no one knew how to dodge the waves properly, the poison pools at the time pretty much two shotted you without the help of turrets, and there was a limited time to even kill him, even when there was 100 people FULLY participating. Go back in the forums far enough and you’ll see some players at the time crying for a nerf. Not too sure on TT since my server seems to be the least organized for that.

Well they clearly can do it. There have been at least five fights that can be considered raid-level fights.
New Tequatl. Triple Trouble Wurms, Vinewrath, Marionette and Lion’s Arch Watchwork Knights.

They have also hired a raid designer some time back.

And how many of those are still considered “challenging?” Anet can create good challenging content, problem is with the power creep that “challenging content” is rapidly reduced to farm status. Not really to blame it on the current issue with the meta, but with the increase in the condi cap it should provide an interesting way to play in a sense and not afk left spamming 1. I like the emphasis of them saying you’ll use EVERY skill/Utility in your bar. (Think Wurm day 1, but harder than that.)

The problem isnt can they create a challenge, more it’s can they maintain said challenge.

Raids means lot of work to create and fine tuning, something that doesn’t correlate with the low quality low quantity anet standard.

Not to put words in your mouth, but are you suggesting they dumb down the difficulty of content on purpose?

So much for the rapid fire of announcements you said a few months back. Sorry to be so critical, but we’ve heard this for a while. This article basically says: We have this, but we’ll talk about it Soon. Kinda hard to be hyped for something we know little or nothing about.

I think you mean lack of. The reaper is strictly melee while core is a combo of the two.

This is one of the main reasons core, when its been fixed as we know it is now , will be a valid option for those builds that want some ranged pressure and not to be kited so easily.

Its good cause you have reason to take reaper and reason not to. Its how i feel elite specs should be.

I don’t think I heard the core was being changed, only Blood Magic so if you have a link or something, I’d like to read up on that but as far as I know, core wasn’t being changed for reasons of being overpowered as quoted by the forum specialist him/herself.

Did you just look for a reply that matched the conclusion you already came to in your head, based entirely off of a lack of official information and driven by pessimistic fear, and select it as your answer? This whole thread just seems like a biased and ill-informed waste of time now.

Short answer: No
More reasonable answer: No, it’s a waste of your time. Some people aren’t as gung-ho as the devs are hoping we’d be as it seemed like they put yet another band aid on the necro problem, fortunately it like this one’s going to stick. No, it’s not fear, but legitimate concern that it took a Specialization to fix a lot of the core issues, which are still there mind you. Note “core,” not Reaper.

What irritates me is that almost every class was already good, if not better before the specialization train started. Mesmers were already in good standing before Chronomancer. Guardians were already good before Dragonhunter, nevermind the name. It took the Reaper before anyone even considered looking at the necro. Now its like Be the reaper if you want to be any good which sucks because now because it limits the choice between the two. Take the obvious and predictable route which is the reaper and you’ll be in good standing (numbers are still not final) or the already stagnant, subpar Death Shroud that constantly gets stun locked, you can’t heal while in DS (or not as effective as reaper shroud), awful in groups, and overall seems like a punching bag while you wait on a cooldown.

It’s been quite a few days since the specialisation of the reaper was shown on the past POI. So we had a few days to speculate, theory craft and whatnot. What keeps nagging me is: we have reaper, what about core necro? I’ve been reading a few posts where some people like reaper but dont like core necro and Vice Versa. I haven’t seen anything from Rob G or anyone on changes (if any) on the core mechanics of the core of the class and left the “band-aid” that is the reaper. Can’t really shake the feeling the we’re all being pigeon holed into the specialisation “because it’s better.”

I figured the whole ‘chill on fear’ thing may have been applied to all other trait lines, because there have been other classes like the elementalist where a trait (like blasting staff) was just added in as a feature to the ele, rather than a trait. So I figured with the Reaper being, what seems like, all about the chill condition, it may have been applied to fear all across the board like they did with the blasting staff trait, but my fears (excuse the pun) have been addressed now and it seems only to be with the Reaper, so I just won’t be able to run Reaper when I also want to fear people off ledges etc. as it would be counter productive to my build.

You do realize you can still fear people off ledges right? There’s a trait that chills on fear, meaning if you don’t want to have chill upon fearing then don’t use that trait.

As much as I love spite, Curses, Soul Reaping and Reaper are the way to go. My idea is to create a glass cannon condition build thats good in range (specter/focus) and devestating in close range (Greatsword/ Reaper shroud)

The two working together will make things very interesting indeed

Reading that made me shiver, those two working together would be absolutely debilitating to a group of people. The two going against each other would be interesting. Chronomancer does have access to chill,slow,stun, and daze with their f5. Along with their persisting phantasms that could spell disaster for most classes if not dealt with especially necromancer with its sub-par mobility

On the other hand, shouts will procc with 4-5 targets constantly, taking them to their maximum potential and lowest CD’s…

I believe it procs with illusions/ phantasms so it’s definitely a good match up.

I dont think necro is good now, or will be good after the patch, in 1v1 situations for the most part. I think in team fights, necros become deadly.

In a team fight, the aoe chill and group pulls will make sure targets cant back away for a breath of air. THATS where these builds will shine. Still going to be pretty bad solo.

On the contrary people have been complaining that necro was good in 1v1 situations but didn’t scale when in 5+ groups such as spvp. I think necros got a huge advantage with shouts. Sure the shouts aren’t the best 1v1 but have other useful skills and utilities to manage that.

Not worried about thieves really, they should be afraid of us. Now we have access to damage that almost rivals warriors. I think thieves would try to stay at range now that we pretty much chill at will. Even if they get one chill off they still have to worry about poisons, vulnerability, blinds and the reaper itself.

Well, I’m convinced it’s not really that much of a problem, now all we need is thieves to actually be affected by chill and we’re golden.

Attacks that chill, blinds that chill, fears that chill, an elite that chills. No matter how you put it, that thief is getting chilled.

I’m no more convinced than when I typed it out the first time, but we technically got some stab so I edited the post.

3s of stab isn’t even enough to cast our elite nevermind actually get an attack off.

A thief can literally stand on top of us and never get hit. 1 thief could kill 5 reapers without ever taking damage.

The last thing they need is a scythe to the health bar. I would think ranged is the better option now, assuming they get a rifle.

Extremely happy with the results. Chills, vul, poisons, blinds, bleeds and stun breaks. STUN BREAKS. And foot in the grave was uneffected. Nice. I felt pretty giddy when they said “Oh, by the way, we’re still working on Blood Magic.” I couldn’t be a happier necro player.

Spectral grasp/ grave digger into well of suffering, GS #2, Ds skill #4. Dead. My mind is filled with possibilities now. I think soldiers gear would work to add a bit of tankinest added with some power. Since we can trait to have 100% chance whike in ds, I don’t think zerker gear is viable to this class.

While I like the new DS, I have to admit the underwater DS was better than the current land DS. If they don’t change the underwater DS, I’m not throwing stones at Anet. Besides, it seems they all but abandoned underwater combat.

I see where you are coming from, but new players won’t see that traitline until level 80. Hopefully they separate the two like “Hey this is your normal traitline and this is your elite spec traitline”

Oh, now I get it. The stats will be part baseline, part in the traits. It makes it a lot easier now when picking traits and not worrying about extra power, crit dmg and so on.

Well considering we have a skill that finally scales with the number of enemies on the field plus the minions we already have (aside from the obvious UI issues) plus if you have Death nova poping jaggeds like nothing, it’s a very powerful skill. C’mon, the ability to have up to 7-10+ minions at one time is suuuuper powerful.

It’s not like there won’t be any diversity, but there is something called meta. People will find a way around the system, find a universal build, and they will stick with it for years….or until the next balance update.
