Problem is people who know how tab target the un-stealth swirl and attack no problem, especially ranged attackers. I do it the thieves and Mesmers all the time.

That doesn’t always work well, though. I can sometimes actually see them before tab target gets them on target.

Thieves don’t need a nerf! The culling issue needs tone fixed. If that cannot be done, then stealth needs to be toned down to compensate for the extra stealth time they get due to culling.

Will legendary weapons automatic boost up when the next tiers are released, meaning that once I have them I never have to grind for gear again to be competitive in WvWvW?

Secondly, does anyone know the amount of time to grind for a legendary vs an ascendant?

I ask because I am considering just grinding for legendary items. Thank you.

I was so looking forward to playing over the Thanksgiving break too. Guess I will download the latest Civ 5 expansion.

10 days off for thanksgiving, and I can’t look forward to logging on now. I am quite saddened by this. Why bother playing now? It seems pointless since I hate dungeons.

I have to laugh at the people that claim to know how long it will take to earn the tokens for the ascended equipment. It’s pretty likely the number of tokens you get scales with the difficulty which kinda throws all those ‘calculations’ out the window…

I said for a PvE player which excludes WvW (as the person that I was arguing with said they were primarily a PvE player) and the PvE content is basically split into two section, dungeons and world content, world content is already easy with exotic gear, and dungeons can be completed with exotic gear just fine, adding more powerful gear will only make it easier which has no real benefit except for skins.

If you’d read what I’d typed from the beginning then you’d have the knowledge that I already said that WvW is the only place this really affects, but the problem with that is the people who want to have the best stats in WvW will do the content regardless of what it is or where it is and the people that think they want the best gear (to “compete”) will try to get it before complaining about the difficulty. In PvP content skill makes more of a difference than gear, and only PvP novices think they need the best gear to compete.

No, many WvWvW players will quit. Others will do the dungeons, but hate them. No one wants to go to WvWvW with crap gear. How is this fun again?

You don’t have to grind to access the content. As in, I don’t need to grind to get to max level so I can play an entirely different game. You do need to work for rewards. What else would you expect? Them to just give stuff away?

Yes, to be competitive in WvWvW, you have to grind dungeons.

ascended gear is now estimated to be 20%+ better than exotics. fyi.

after the gear treadmill was introduced, none. told my son and his friends to forget it. 5 potential customers with $$$ gone.

I gotta be honest. I came into the knowledge of this new gear freaking out and thinking it was the end of the world. But now that I have seen the stats and how easy they are to obtain, I’ve come to realize that my faith in ANet should have been stronger.

These new items are exactly what the game needed. Anyone that wasn’t happy with the missing stat grind before is WELCOME to spend 90 hours running the same dungeon paths 360 times to acquire them, AND THEY SHOULD… I mean LOOK AT THOSE STATS.

In before ANet patches in the inability to use Ascended gear in WvW and open world PvE. You wanted stat grind, we gotcha stat grind right here.

Some have bemoaned that they will have to do the FotM Dungeon to get ascended gear. That’s actually not the case. They have already stated that they will be adding other ways of getting Ascended Gear outside of FotM, including via WvW.

It’s ridiculously easy to get exotic gear, so yes, there is a huge gap where I think ascended gear fits nicely. Comparing gear in GW2 to GW is just showing how narrow minded some of the community can be.

If ascended gear had been in at release would you all still be complaining? I think most of the complaints are coming from people with full exotic that don’t like the fact they’re not top-tier any more. I understand the frustration there but I still think people need to look at this as a new rarity and not a new tier.

They explained it pretty well in the dev blog: the rarity levels had a gaping hole between exotic and legendary, they needed something to plug the gap. They’ve already said this stuff will be obtainable in WvW as well so the people whining about having to run the fractals for it have nothing to complain about.

if it required hours of dungeons to get, yes.

go try pvp with ranger…or wvwvw. My thief actually is much more fun to play than is my shelved ranger.

Which is why I felt relieved when I read that you would eventually be able to get Ascended gear in WvW.

I read the announcement. It said available over time. What did I miss?

I am not asking for thieves to be nerfed. I want culling fixed or stealth adjusted to compensate for broken culling. once thieves attack, we deserve the opportunity to fight back. That’s only fair and balanced.

8% better is still 8% better. No one knows the scaling, so this is all we have to work from. It’s significant.

Why do people think portals are broken? Assuming you don’t have10 FPS, you can tell if enemies are coming through or not even if they do not all render, and take defensive measures—they exist and are not complicated.

Let’s be honest, it’s either the classic “don’t stand in the fire” issue which has plagued MMO’s since day one, aka skill levels vary, or people simply not wanting to have to be organized and go through trial and error. WvW does not need to be made simpler and more predictable.

Culling is so bad that we often cannot see the portals, ad we also don’t know whose they are when we can see them. They need to make them require more time to be usable and be much more visible and obvious.

Stealth mechanic and culling are the real issue. Coupled with 5 k bursts, you die before you can hit a thief.

I don’t consider an across the board increase of 8% as trivial. What do others think the cutoff is between significant vs insignificant? 1%, 2%?

They already clarified that the ascended tier isn’t the start of a gear treadmill model but just part of the big update to strengthen/fixes the progression of the game as a whole.

However, the original blog indicated that there willbe even more ascended gear for new content in the future. All they’ve said is that it won’t be every 3 months. So it could be every 6 months.

Question: is there only a chance to get the gear after going through the dungeons? If so, any guess on the drop rates? Thanks.
