Going to have to take a video for devs to take notice. This bug has been around since the dawn of GW2 and has not been fixed yet.
BM has been strong since day 1 release. the most powerful upgrade this build received was months ago when pet AI was updated to initiate attacks at closer than max attack range.
the buff to SoWild mildly increases teamfight potential, since your jag can assist on focus w/ stab + stealth with the Regen close to active again by the time the Ranger is engaged directly.
of note, zero Rangers made it to Finals in MotM.
But they did make it to the semi finals. Plus Symbolic for Paradigm wasn’t playing. Could have been an different outcome as the sub for Symbolic was making poor decisions. IMO the only thing making Rangers OP are their pets ability to deal huge damage while the Ranger kites and keeps himself alive. They shouldn’t be able to bunker + deal massive damage, there should be a trade off similar to every other class.

On the topic of Vigor. All classes except Necromancer have atleast 1 source of Vigor and other ways to restore endurance.
Engineer – Adrenaline Pump-Gain 10% of your endurance when using a tool belt skill.Elixir R – Remove conditions and refill endurance. Adrenal Implant – Endurance regenerates 50% faster.Elixir H – Change to gain Vigor. Invigorating Speed – When you gain swiftness, gain 5 seconds of Vigor. Engineers can have perma Swiftness + Vigor.
Warrior – Building Momentum – Burst skills restore endurance. Furious Reaction – Gain Vigor (10 seconds) when taking more than 10% of your health in a single hit. Making the most powerful CC in the game even more powerful. Surprised players aren’t exploiting this and going for every immobilize ability and trait they have.
I used to think Necro was awesome too, and I didn’t understand what the criticizers were on about. I started to do dungeons on my Guardian and felt much more useful, and it made me question the purpose of my Necro. I started to do tournaments, and again didn’t see what the problem was with the class. Suddenly the team is doing well and we start facing better teams, and I can’t get from point to point, I get focused immediately, I cant dodge more than twice in a row, my skills are always on CD and I feel overwhelmed. Sure I can kill the odd bunker Guardian, Thief, and Engi, but I felt something was off. Then I bring my Guardian to tournaments and suddenly I have a purpose. I still use my Necro for tournaments, but it’s not easy and you have to be on your game to perform well for your team.
Should cause 3s Poison and 2 sec Confusion every tick. It’s too boring and weak, and certainly doesn’t need bleed.
I just had a bad bad experience against a duo mesmer + ranger, his skill counted but mine was left in another world. there was nothing i could do to prevent getting stomped. He pulled me with the wall, immobilize, not even the time to change to the staff to cast number 4 that he feared me with the wolf, knockback, illusion explode and dead. Worst experience ever. This all in about 5 seconds. Is there a counter to these situation for my beloved necro?
As soon as I see the Temporal Curtain on the ground I immediately switch to staff. Staff 4 is very precious and can be used for too many things. Unfortunately dagger 4 is too slow with too long of a cast time to get you out of the immobilize in time. You can also pop Spectral Walk and run away from the Curtain. Or try to out range it in general. I specifically watch for the Illusionary Leap. It’s very fast, but it can be dodged. The problem with Mesmers is there are too many things to dodge, and we can’t dodge very much. Illusionary Leap + Blurred Frenzy + shatter is a big problem for us if we get caught in it. We can’t fear the Mesmer because of Blurred Frenzy, we can only blind, go plague form, go DS, or clear the immobilize. No Blocks, No Immune, stun break doesn’t work on immobilize, but it should because its too powerful IMO. There is also no shame in burning your Consume Conditions if it gets you out of the immobilize. Because if you get caught in that combo you’ll have less than half health.
I’d also like to add that Necros and Guardians are the only classes that don’t have a trait that give us Swiftness. NONE of Necro weapon skills give AOE Swiftness. ALL of Guardian weapon skills give AOE Swiftness. I don’t even want to get into Stability.

Siphon used to be very strong in beta, they nerfed the crap out of it. Necros were “too tanky”.
This is one of the top 10 traits for Necros that needs to go. I guarantee NOBODY uses this. It would be nice if it gave us 3 seconds of swiftness on a dodge roll or something. Something to synergize with Mark of Evasion. Or this could be changed to give Vigor on Critical Hit, which would also synergize with Mark of Evasion. Since we have no Vigor, this is a perfect candidate.
Sounds like beta Necro was nerfed a la whack a mole style. The kind you’re trying to avoid. If I remember correctly, siphon skills would heal you for heaps, and now they heal you for kittens, and are barely used in most builds because siphons just aren’t strong enough. Other than that, thank you for responding to the thread, glad to know you hear our cries.

Well I’m hoping since they’re working on DS#5, it means they’ll be looking at Necromancer as a whole. 2 Necro threads over 100 replies and no dev response. I’m not holding my breathe for anything until SotG comes out.
We need rating based armor and weapons as MaXi suggested. New rewards every 10 levels is fine and dandy, but you need rating rewards too. It gives people something to play for, and it lets them show off their skill in game. I’m sure this will be implemented down the road within a year : (

I consider myself an above average player who is dedicated to mastering every class I play. My current guild has completely stopped doing PvP as they’re mainly a PvE guild. I’m looking to play, and even create my own team if necessary. Message me if you’d like to form a team or have me join your team.
Pet does too much of the Rangers damage. It is also completely not viable to try and kill a pet because they have Uranium-Nickel plating and barely take damage. Both of these things need to be addressed.
The Elitism is going to happen eventually. There will be threads like this that remind us that we need to be better then that, but it’s inevititable. Enjoy it now while the pvp community is small.
I’d like to see an Amulet exact opposite of Berserker with defensive stats.
Does anyone know if Arena Net plans to add more Amulets for pvp? There are certain stat combinations that aren’t available.
We have Guild Banner back pieces, which i’m hoping one day will lead to capes. Every epic MMO has capes, c’mon!

The problem is not Blurred Frenzy. It is the broken piece of crap that is Illusionary Leap. It’s nearly impossible to telegraph, and most of the time doesn’t leap, but just appears right in your face. UNAVOIDABLE. Shimmerless there is nothing distinctive about the animation, especially on Asura, which most Mesmers seem to run. How can Warrior leaps be so slow and obvious, but Illusionary Leap is a super speed run/leap that pops up next to you and says HI IMMOBILIZESHATTERRRRRRR.
Even with tons of condi removal. I get caught in that immobilize all day it feels like. If I eat even half a shatter with half absorbed with Death Shroud, I’m still fighting a losing battle at that point.
5 80s, 1 legendary, rank 30 in pvp, rank 450 something on leaderboards. Really liking the attention tournies are getting and I love the shout casts. I hope to be part of a top tourny team one day. Just wish my 2 favorite classes were stronger in tpvp. One day a team will need a Necro and ill get my chance.
What really bugs me about Dark Path is that you cannot carry the orb on Spirit Watch and use the teleport. It will drop the orb. Some classes have multiple ways to leap ahead with the orb while we get kittened. Spectral Walk tele? Drop. Dark Path? Drop. Wurm? Most likely drops but have not tested.
Mesmer Distort stomp can’t be countered either I don’t think. I could be wrong. I take 30 in SR in pvp and I always shroud stomp. Getting off a Stomp is very important and I feel a lot of games could have been lost if I didn’t have that stability + DS soak. Complete immunity is pretty OP cause you can’t remove them like stability and you can’t damage them. It would be nice if blind stopped stomps.
Next upcoming nerf: Ranger and Thief.. Note, this is simple my fortune in the next patch based on other people complaining. Me, personally play these two classes. They are not Op in my opinion. I can defeat a BM Ranger with my Phantasm Berserk Build or come very close the good one, same with thief.
I think Engi will get another nerf to grenades. They just kitten teams without boon removal.
Everyone thinks Ele and Mesmers are the best..they are not. Just learn how to fight them. This is my opinion of the tier list. (1 being the best to 8 being the worst). I’m not biased on this list and I’m judging it through my experience (rank 40, champion paragon and legionnaire)

I can’t believe you can heal from near death to full in a matter of seconds. Plus your heal is on a 20 second CD. Wish I had a 20 second heal.
Hey Khalifa. How do you feel about WoCorruption over WoSuffering? The boon removal helps me kill classes like HGH Engis and Regen Rangers that I would normally get smashed against. I find that with Suffering once they realize they’re taking massive damage they’ll get out of it ASAP. WIth Corruption it doesn’t seem to be the case in my experience.
I’ll see if I notice anything when I am in PvPing next (I usually run with axe and dagger so I will be in that zone a lot). Also, do you use the default A/D assigned function to turn your camera?
I use mouse to turn and A/D for strafe. I increased my rotation speed and started being more mindful of my positioning and have been able to overcome this problem. The only time I miss is if someone runs through me and the camera doesn’t rotate fast enough and I end up casting before I turn all the way around.
Please o Please lower Spectral Armor CD. No reason for it to be 90 seconds untraited.
That is a pretty big mechanic of the game though, a lot of abilities need to be “aimed” to the target.
I agree that its a mechanic of the game, and i’m ok with that. It wasn’t an issue before, but lately in a close quarters match it’s been a problem for me. I’ll try increasing my camera rotation speed to see if it helps.
Well, considering how important positioning and timing is in this game, I think it should be a priority to be fixed.
I’ll re-iterate, I know there will always be some “lag”, but it currently happens way too often. It certainly seems like the servers are at fault (considering I’ve monitored my Ping to verify that it isn’t the cause), there must be something Anet can do to lessen the severity of the issue.
I agree, Its really bad and using D/F on Necro all 5 of my skills have the potential to miss. In a fast paced point battle, the game doesn’t seem to keep up with camera rotation. It’s crippling and makes me not want to Necro at all.
Hell everyone. Lately i’ve been having trouble with some weapon skills going off, but not doing anything. I know I have to face my target for them to hit, but even if there a little to the side, they just miss completely. Doesn’t say Miss,Block, Immune or anything else, just nothing happens and the skill goes on CD. I think it has to do with how close I am to my target. I believe my internet connectioin is very good, so I don’t know what the issue is, but it’s really killing me. Anyone else have this problem?
Soul Reaping is a very good line for pvp. I play with a few different builds and i’m currently at 20/0/20/0/30 running D/F + Staff. Using Knight Amulet + Zerk Jewel. I’m having much success with this build.
I have this problem on my Necro a lot. I don’t have the same problems on my Warrior or Engi. On my Necro my heal ( Consume Conditions) sometimes won’t go off. I think the cast time is slightly longer then what the tool tip states (Aftercast). Necro Dagger #3 will go on CD easily if not facing the correct direction. Necro offhand Dagger #4 is extremely touchy if you’re not facing right at your opponent. It will just go on cooldown. Focus #4 and Focus #5 i’ve had misfire a couple times too. I think Staff marks are not landing correctly either, but I will have to investigate further. I personally believe its a latency issue. But I don’t know how to fix it. As a Power Necro with imobilize, fear, and chills, Dogged March really helps Warriors against me. I’ve lost to quite a few Warriors recently because I can’t keep them away. They are free to Evis, WW, and Rush without worry.
I would take Shrouded Removal over Dark Armor. It has removed immobilize for me so many times when fighting Mesmers about to set up a Shatter. I am also running a more defensive power build in tpvp with WoC ( turns boons into conditions), because it seems like higher level teams are always running bunkers or non-glass builds. Warriors had a trait similar to Dark Armor and they just got rid of it because it was very low popularity.

R29 Necro perspective. I feel completely outclassed as of late.
Coming from a Necro. Warriors are a very good challenge with decreased cc duration. They stick to me very easily and put out good damage.
8 per team is my limit. Even 16 players feels zergy at times. Seems like most games are either 5,8, or 10 player teams at the moment.
I’ve played my fair share of some of dat s/d but what i find funny (through spectator mode) is that no one even uses cloak and dagger anymore.
How do you figure? getting dazed by Tactical Strike all of the time now on my Necro.
As a power Necro I hate to 1v1 D/D Eles, and any Mesmer. D/D Ele can make frequent mistakes, and I can avoid burning or transfer it back, but I will still eventually lose because he is able to heal much better than me, and do similar damage. I can put up a fight against Mesmer, but if I start with little Life Force, then it will be game over if caught in a shatter. I can never transfer or remove the immobilize fast enough to avoid shatter.
Ever see a thread on the forums with someone asking how to deal with fighting Necros? Me neither. Some people think we get targeted in combat because we are a threat. The reality is we are easy to focus down. Our utilities are on huge cooldowns and staff marks are on long cooldowns (4&5). We don’t have a dangerous mechanic that must be avoided at all cost, unlike some classes which have devastating abilities that you do not want to get caught in. Except for maybe WoS, and Staff 4.

Wish my Necros Spectral Walk was on a 40 second CD. Which also takes up a utility slot. I’d be more worried about Thief stealing your boons.

Vampiric Tap: Places a life draining DoT on your target that siphons health from near by enemies and transfers health to yourself and allies.
Gives us an extra healing ability, works for power, condition, minion, and siphon builds. Could also make us a viable bunker.
I hope it does get buffed to 2 or 3% LF. Or LF on crit. I feel like it’s not worth taking and another utility would be much better. My opinion if you have to rez your teammates, then you’re probably already losing, but there are times you can turn the tide. I almost never get to rez more than one person with it in a tpvp environment. Also I’m usually targeted first and don’t get to use it much.
