I do not care what is going on with HoD or any other server. I am having fun on a great server with fantastic players, and if we win this week, nothing anyone says is going to make our victory less sweet.
~ArenaNet
I think this would be amazing sportsmanship, but I don’t see it happening. However, servers are in a better position to find out who their own hackers are than other servers sometimes, and it would be fantastic if people reported their own for orb exploits.
~ArenaNet
If it doesn’t run a full 7 days some servers will also bounce all over the rankings, as many have most of their players on the weekend. Maybe that wouldn’t be a terrible thing, but it would be a bit odd.

What is going to happen to future new players when the population is settled at level 80 grounds?

When you type ‘kitten’ on another forum instead of using profanity, you’ll know their fiendish attempt at behavior modification has succeeded.
~ArenaNet
I like the week long format, I’m worried if we go to two it will be too much, and four seems too short, at least for servers in close matchups with a lot of participation from all sides, such as our current top 3 matchup.

Most seem to be soloable, but a few need some tweaking.

There is a possibility that saying ‘TY’ or ‘Thanks’ repeatedly when someone rezzes you can trigger the block. If true, Arenanet, fix your filter, that’s just silly.
Meanwhile, when getting rezzed, be sure to mix it up just in case. Learn to say TY in many ways and many languages.

If there were no WvW in this game I would have quit already. WvW is pvp, so I’ll concede that I fit into your will to power theme. The thing is, though, I don’t want to beat someone because I have more gold or better gear. I want to beat someone because I was better at mashing buttons and moving my mouse.
Okay, when you look at it that way, I guess it’s still a rather silly ‘will to power’, but I like it better than ‘haha, I spent more time grinding than you did, or worse, opened my wallet and bought gold so I could kill your pixels’!
~ArenaNet
Yep. And as long as my disconnect issues don’t come back, it will have been worth the $40 I also spent on character slots and bank space.
I looked at that $40 as I would have a sub, so I will be very annoyed if I don’t get around three months of fun out of GW2. The way things are going, I’ll probably get a lot more than that, though, so I’m happy.
~ArenaNet
Crystal Desert transferred to JQ? Ruh roh. I have no problem with more guilds coming in, but I hope a lot of them are off-peak players, because I have way too much fun in WvW to sit all weekend and every evening in a queue.
~ArenaNet
I wish they spawned in my inventory instead of at my feet, too. It’s distracting. I mean it’s not a gamebreaker or anything, it would just be nice.
~ArenaNet
Fighting. Tomorrow. After relatives visiting from out of town go back out of town. Because even though war is hell, family aggro is worse!
~ArenaNet
Sometimes I enjoy mindless farming. But if this does get rid of most of the bots and hurts goldsellers, I’m all for DRs. Remains to be seen whether those botters have or will find ways around it. If they do, then the only people who will be hurt are regular players more starved for gold.
Of course, they could always use the gem shop, but some of us won’t, some of us can’t, and some will risk their accounts by buying from the very farmers DRs is supposed to prevent. I’m in the don’t but my ingame currency with real money category, but so far I haven’t felt any pressure to buy gold from Anet in order to enjoy the game.
~ArenaNet
A large enough guild to make a difference. As a mostly solo player, I found my one attempt to transfer lower down the ladder (running from queue times) pretty pointless.
It’s WvW guilds that need to move, not individuals.
~ArenaNet
Of all the ideas I’ve read, I like this one the best. But Arenanet will first have to prove willing and able to remove afkers and botters in a timely fashion to prevent them from doing even more harm to their home realm than they already do.
~ArenaNet
Solution: Get rid of the jumping puzzles and other PVE stuff in WvW. Make more loot (including blueprints) drop off players or even have random loot drops for doing something useful like taking out a gate or repairing one while enemy players are attacking.

How to fix the scoring system in WvW: From an NA player prospective.
in WvW
Posted by: Corvindi.5734
Some system maybe that makes all points on the maps (Camps, Towers, Keeps & SM) worth a % less of there value.
What also might work would be making value change constantly depending on WvW population, for example
at 100% filled instance for all 3 servers (so 100% / 100% wvw population);
Camps – 10 Points
Towers – 20 Points
Keeps – 50 Points
Castle – 70 PointsThis would ideally be primetime population and therefor points, during off-peak hours were say one server is 70% (the EU-night capping guilds) and others say 30% each (so 43% total / 100% wvw population);
Camps – 4 Points
Towers – 7 Points
Keeps – 22 Points
Castle – 30 Points
(43% of value rounded up/ down to nearest 1)This kind of system would reduce the effectivess and mass lead given to higher EU populated US servers whilst still promoting night cappings for additional points (the more EU players you would get on, the more overall % wvw population so more points)
Thoughts?
Oh no, we are about to lose, SM. everyone log off to make our point loss lower.
Variable points based on participation create a system where it can be advantageous to not log in on purpose.
And they still get points so whats your point? And it will be during off peak hours so the strategy of logging of wont even be effective.
Random Player on your server: “Oh kitten! We are getting pushed out of all our maps! Quick, everyone log off so all those capture points tick for 1 point, and then log back in and cap everything in 15min.”
They could do the tick system by an average of player numbers over time, say every hour or two.
Not saying some wouldn’t still try to exploit somehow, because they will. They always do. And a system like this would require massive bot bans, a good afk kicks system, and some bans for players doing goofy stuff like running into walls or simple macros or whatever they do to stay in WvW when not at keyboard.
In other words, Anet would have to pay attention and enforce a proper set of rules. If they can’t do that much, this game is going down regardless of design.
~ArenaNet
Nothing on disconnect issues? WvW queue bugs? Botters in WvW messing with queues even more? Grace period for disconnects from WvW?
So pretty much nothing screwing with my enjoyment of the game is getting fixed.
Great.
~ArenaNet
I don’t mind paying for respec, but I really want to see them add dual spec. I enjoy using turrets in PVE with my Engineer because well, it makes me feel like an Engineer! But for WvW a build that supports grenades seems the way to go.
It’s very annoying and I certainly can’t afford to respec constantly.
~ArenaNet
Here is what really needs to happen while transfers are still free:
There are 4 heavy WvW servers. HOD, SBI, ET, and JQ. All are full to bursting and don’t need more WvW guilds as far as I can tell.
So we have Tier 1 with 3 servers and Tier 2 with 1 heavy WvW against two that are mid-range. This is bad for all concerned.
We need guilds to coordinate and consolidate on two more servers so we can have 2 full tiers of heavy WvW servers.
If possible, consolidations to create a third tier would be great, too.
~ArenaNet
MSI Afterburner is a free product that will let you assign a hotkey to record so when you see something fishy in game, you can get evidence of possible misbehavior.
Youtube will then be happy to host it, and Guild Wars 2 Guru has no problem letting you post the link to your video, either.
Don’t post the link here of other players exploiting/botting/whatever, because it is not allowed on the Anet official forum. It falls under the rather punny category of ‘character assassination’.
Screenshots make for lousy proof. Video is the way to go.
~ArenaNet
MSI Afterburner is far superior to FRAPS for free recording.
~ArenaNet
I mostly save my socializing for WvW, but so far the only problems I’ve had with anyone on JQ are the bots.
If you’re going to bot, at least program them to rez people and make yourselves useful.
~ArenaNet
Country and server: USA and playing on a US high pop server (Jade Quarry)
Provider: Charter 15mbs (always good to go in other games, always stable, except with GW2)
Wired (runs through a router with wireless capability that serves the household, but even turning that off doesn’t help, nor does resetting my router, or doing the ipconfig /release and /renew bit, or anything else I have tried.)
The thing is, sometimes I can play awhile with no disconnects, sometimes it’s constant. There is no trigger I know of that starts up my problems except maybe their server load, and of course I can’t be sure of that, not having access to their numbers.
~ArenaNet
So tired of developers releasing MMORPGs without basic features that have become staple to the genre.

Agree with all of the above. No dungeon finder is just lame. Not being able to get credit as support is lame, too.
~ArenaNet
Clearly you’re imagining the chat spam, mail spam, and botters all over the place since gems for gold miraculously got rid of all that for us.
Seriously, report and move on. Either they’ll do something about it soon or they won’t. If they don’t, well, it’s their game, guess they can let it get destroyed if they really want to. Maybe they’ll get tax breaks?
~ArenaNet
Give us a grace period to get back into WvW or fix the DC issue or both or some of us will stop playing WvW on any server. This is getting absolutely stupid.
~ArenaNet
I wait two hours in queue for WvW, get in, and DC 15 minutes later. This is getting really stupid.
~ArenaNet
Come on, Arenanet, time to do something, here. Your game is getting a very bad reputation as one where botting is tolerated.
Pretty soon conspiracy theories about Arenanet-owned bot farms will start flying.
~ArenaNet
Not moving again. I like the JQ teamspeak crew (and I am not someone who is comfortable with voice chat, so that’s saying something).
I’m just now building a guild bank (my one other guild member has no time to play so it took forever to get the points), and I’m not losing it.
I want to be able to play during any hour of the day or night and have people on my server in WvW to play with. Yes, that means queues, and I’m fine with queues, what I’m not fine with is PVE botters clogging them up, and disconnect issues putting me back in the queues when I finally do get in. Both these issues (and the disconnect issue itself) need fixing pronto, because WvW is really the only thing about this game that will keep me coming back, and if I can’t play, I have no use for GW2.
~ArenaNet
So needless to say gems for gold hasn’t done a thing to stop any of this nonsense. I’m confused about why Anet is taking so long to break out the ban hammer.
And if you’re one of those fools who paid $300 USD to someone else who will play the game to 80 for you, I hope you get caught in a bot banwave and never get yourkittenaccount back.
~ArenaNet
I find this amusing after what happened in the ET vs IoJ vs SoS match. Also reporting for exploiting does nothing. I got the official response it was a “valid tactic” and not a violation. You’ll probably get the same answer.
I hope their take on wasting supply is not ‘valid tactic’, because WvW is not Eve, it does not have the scope to withstand much of these types of sabotage. Wake up, Anet! WvW is a big part of your game, stop dismissing it as ‘casual’ or ‘unbalanced by design’ or whatever.
If this spreads it could easily make things very unfun for players, and if it’s not fun, it will stop being so popular. Trust me, you don’t want that. WvW is what will keep bringing many of us back to your game long after the rest has gone stale as week old bread.
~ArenaNet
Report that garbage. Surely Anet didn’t intend for people to be able to sabotage other servers by wasting their supply.
Not sure what their take is on disinformation in chat, but seems shady to me.
~ArenaNet
I personally think that stripping the classes down to such a shockingly small number of skills doesn’t help either. After GW1 where you had such flexibility in building your character, it was very jarring to be so heavily restricted in GW2. I can’t think of another mmo with so little in the way of character progression. It’s nuts.
Good post though, they promised revolution and did not deliver.
“it’s a game that would be complicit in the stagnation of the MMO genre, veiling it behind a sea of shallow alterations to a tired formula that needs changing.” – Very well said.
The small amount of skills is still something I haven’t really been able to get used to. I didn’t think it would bother me, but it does. The tradeoffs for taking one thing over another make it feel too restrictive.
As for the rest, I agree with you, OP. As far as PVE goes, not much different to see. Beautiful game, though. They got the world down solid. But it’s still a typical MMO kill this, fetch that, be that other NPC’s gopher grind. Boring. I love WvW, though. For me, that is different.
~ArenaNet
As someone who comes from a high queue server, I support your right to have map completion without coming into WvW!
~ArenaNet
I was out farming alongside some botters earlier to see what dropped off the mobs they were killing.
I definitely noticed a drop off in loot after about fifteen minutes (sadly, the loot was nothing special to begin with, but I was bored).
So it seems killing things over and over again for loot yields diminishing returns, forcing you to go kill different things over and over for loot.
~ArenaNet
Click on them, then right click on their bar/portrait. Report, botting.
You might want to remove that pic, you aren’t allowed to post things that show the names of other players in relation to any bad behavior, even if you have proof, and a screenshot isn’t proof.
~ArenaNet
I like this, but again, they need to fix both the queue bug and the glaring issue of no grace period when a player disconnects first. It’s sad that after spending several hours in queue off and on today, I’m grateful that I got in for an hour before I crashed. As I was looting two bags, to add insult to injury.
Seriously, either fix the disconnects, or give us a grace period or hey, go for broke and fix both!
~ArenaNet
Keeping all guild upgrades/rep would definitely help. Only if the guild is moving to a server with shorter WvW queues, of course.
~ArenaNet

Want to see WvW hack vids, please. Don’t post the link here, though, you’ll get banned. Post it on Guru.
~ArenaNet
Not quit, but might take a break until they fix this constant disconnect issue I’m having. Also, I think any game that launches without a group finder is partly a failure, even if the rest of it is worth sticking around for.
~ArenaNet
I got a bunch of teleporting ones up on youtube today. They aren’t exactly subtle.
~ArenaNet
I don’t even care if they bring me back dead and drop a bag for whoever I disconnected in front of, just bring me back!
~ArenaNet
Absolutely. It’s getting ridiculous.
Coupled with the random disconnect issues I’m having, it’s impossible for me to get into WvW and that is the best thing about this game by far. In fact, it’s the main thing keeping me around.
~ArenaNet
I’m surprised there isn’t a cash shop item to join you into wvw instantly
Shush your mouth before the bean counters hear you or there surely will be.
~ArenaNet
Thanks for the links, Panda, just read 10 pages of that first one. I guess if misery loves company, I’m in the right place, but not seeing solutions anywhere. Just more people with the same frustrating problem.
It would be a lot less frustrating if, while they’re working on an issue they can’t fix yet, they put in a WvW DC grace period.
~ArenaNet
They would have no way to tell what was a legit dc or bad connection vs abuse.
It would take awhile, but someone habitually pulling this would eventually set an obvious pattern. You’re right, though, if a person only did it rarely, they’d never be caught. But exploiters, gotta love em, they almost never exploit halfway or once in awhile. They go full out with it.
~ArenaNet
Queues may still be bugged, it’s a known issue, some people say keep re-queuing every ten minutes or so, but I have no idea if that really works and no patience to give it a try during Friday prime time.
