Mini Grentch!!! http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Grentch
Celestial, Fire+Air(+ Blood), Geo+Doom get nerf’d and I think we’d be in a decent place.
(edited by Coulter.2315)
Why is some poor, unfortunate soul trash talking Disney? I’d like them banned for stupidity, please, thanks.
Every time The Breach event completes everyone on the map gets 4 Rare items – this is ignoring any others from chance.
I am for Celestial Ammy being nerf’d BUT at the same time Fire, Air, Leech all need to share a CD.
In order to get that we’d need an expansion imo, which I would be delighted with if we got one. I have to agree this game is BEAUTIFUL and the joy you get from many of the sights makes the game really special – but we need a bigger world and I don’t think we’re going to get it with the LS. I’ve enjoyed the LS but its just no replacement for expansions – remember GW1 had 3(?) by now.
I’m going to keep saying this until it kills me, but there is NO REASON for an expansion in this game. LS in fact CAN do anything an expansion can do, just not all at once, and, get this, you can have it FOR FREE, if you’re just willing to WAIT a little while for all of it.
In addition, preparing an expansion would be a monumental undertaking when all of the company’s internal processes are centered around the current, iterative release model. People often fail to consider just how much time it would take to completely overhaul the inner workings of the studio, just so they can take a year to make something they could have been slowly releasing the whole time.
Because an expansion would have more content than the entire LW releases to date.
I enjoy LW as stated above BUT it isn’t enough to create the wonder, spectacle and variety that an expansion would. If you don’t believe this just compare Cantha or Nightfall to the entire LW – remember BOTH these large expansions were released before the current age of our world.
The issue of company structure is an important one – however we’re giving feedback and its up to ANet how to restructure to best meet their playerbase’s wishes (I’m not saying every request should be adhered to but I think this is a large enough issue too require serious thought from the devs).
Needs more time to settle, might need to reduce the priority of queue pop though (atm its desperate to pop and so matches a lot of soloq with teamq groups) and I think something needs to reduce the value of just playing a game. Need to let it run its course though guys – not enough data for good matches yet.

Can you imagine there is something YOU like to do that another person doesn’t?
Can you imagine there is something another person likes doing that YOU don’t?
If you can then you must see that dailies cannot please everyone all the time.
The arrow is a new addition, turn it off and explore. The game is at its best when you’re just wandering around and joining in what you see going on.
The general tone of this thread seems to be 2 sided.
1) I don’t want to party with people not running most optimal setup.
2) I don’t want to party with those demanding most optimal setup.
Wouldn’t the addition of DPS meters allow both these groups to get what they want more easily? I don’t see why people would argue against it.
Yeah…I got it by standing on a ledge and ranging while the others in the group ran him around.
It was easy and completely unheroic. There was absolutely nothing to feel good about with this achievement other than that I demonstrated that I know how to use the LFG tool.
I’m pretty sure this isn’t what achievements are for.
Why didn’t you solo it then?
Reset Mote would have been a good addition.
If he casts with his left hand Dodge. Stay away from the Earth Elementals as they die.
GUYS you’re having a Stats War over a SINGLE person’s PERSONAL average with THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF THAT PERSON xD You’re making Confidence Intervals – do you know what they are? They say that you are “95% Sure the true Mean sits in this bracket” YOU ARE USING THE POPULATION MEAN TO CALCUATE IT xD You already know it…

The update stopping Necros gaining LF before the game does seriously weaken them at game start, playing yesterday though we were running a very rubbish comp.
Not sure if they are in the terrible state you say – worth keeping an eye on though.
For the last two years, people have complained that new content every 2 weeks is too tight a schedule, too grindy, too fast.
I feel this isn’t true..
It’s a cherry picked representation only partially reflecting the complaints of yore. People repeatedly kept saying the two week schedule was too tight because every Living Story update was buggy as hell.
For just one of many examples: anyone else remember when the Assault on the Breach was released, except when you killed the Watchwork Knights they didn’t drop their attunement, which meant no one could get to the Breachmaker and fight Scarlet?
That’s right, for the first 5 to 7 hours of the patch the core mechanic, the entire point and purpose of that whole update was non-functional. An entire LS update literally did not workJust one of a huge number of examples of the kitten poor QA (quality assurance) that plagued nearly all of Season 1. That’s what people were complaining about.
This, btw, does not reflect my stance on this latest break in the season. I just get really, really irked when people misrepresent history (intentionally or otherwise) to make their own point look better.
I thought it was that the three bosses were a DPS race which failed a lot at one point or how one of the achievements was bugged.
Edit: Looked at threads in the archive section and saw one about attunement circles not showing up.
I also do remember people complaining that the releases were too many, too fast. This primarily came from those wanting to gain every achievement or those starting very late into the release. I want to say that the aetherblade dungeon (not the TA one) had people complaining because of the boss achievements and how difficukt they were to complete when the content was temporary.
So they were complaining they were temporary NOT there were too many, too fast.
There being too many, too fast was because Anet was on a two week schedule of sorts which limited how long people had to do the content and achievements. Temporary was just one of the complaints caused by their release schedule. That’s just my take on it and this could turn into a chicken/egg argument.
Exactly, it was a complaint about the TIME for achievements – if you have infinite time for them you wouldn’t be upset about there being so much so often. So they were all complaints about the content being temporary not there was too much content. (think about it – who the hell complains about too much content, thats just insane)
Glad thats been put to bed.
Would everything being permanent have fixed that? Sure.
Glad we agree, don’t know why you’re writing so much when this sums it up.

I was irritated too, but I am making the assumption that “Chapter 8” will be several updates long – like the invasion of LA. If its the same length as Chapter 7 I will be very upset.
I think it would be useful for everyone to hear from Anet how long the Season will continue after we come back – so we don’t just feel they were running late in starting the season and were forced to bump into the new year because the 2 week release schedule has turned out to be unrealistic.
In all honesty if there is only 1 update in the New Year they made a really silly mistake not startiing earlier. Fingers crossed though (I’m sure I’ll enjoy the update too I just think some errors have been made – chief error may turn out to be labelling Chapter 8 ahead of time xD)
I have no issue with them taking time off at Christmas – my issue is with the possibility of a single release after New Year.
She should be brought back in chains to explain why she endangered many people by disappearing with the egg (no matter how skilled or justified she thinks she is, she is a single person and was not given the authority to make those choices for the world).
The centaur thing isn’t really actionable imo, but certainly Caithe needs to be punished for running off with a strategically important item without permission.
Frodo was given the authority by a council of the races to make the journey to Modor to destroy the Ring – Caithe certainly was not.
I feel the episode was short, offered a nice look at Caithe’s past but didn’t advance the plot at all. I liked the chats with the first/second born Sylvari and Faolain’s points. (it would be weird KNOWING your mother has been brainwashed and she expected you to to follow with it).
BUT it was far, far, far too short – at the very end Marjory says “I’m sorry to have to do this to you but …” END EPISODE. Now if that wasn’t ANet speaking directly to us I don’t know what is – which sadly implies they knew it was too short and possibly even planned it to be longer and had to cut/not finish it. Which is a little worrying for the future.
The addition of the skritt areas are cool and expansive BUT lack stuff to do there – if they added events into the jumping puzzle I feel it would increase traffic and help give variety to the MOUNTAIN of crests required.
Not their best update – fingers crossed for next one.
Guys calm down, NA did not beat EU, 5 people beat 5 other people. The entire NA had next to no input as did the EU. You’re sounding like these idiots who watch football and think they are part of the team.
Ah nvm you can Keybind it now.
Hey guys I know this might just be an oversight when changing all the interfaces BUT you removed the PvP Build button from being accessable from spectator or from being in an active Custom Arena.
It isn’t a big deal but for 1v1 Arenas like [Angz] where we have rules like “No Soldier’s or Celest ammy etc.” its causing a little problem with people just popping in for a game between queues.
If you could restore the button ASAP we would be greatful, thanks.
kitten SBow..
I would support the addition of challenge mote resets – it was a little annoying having to kill the the centaur again each time I wanted to go for the dodge boss fight.
I find it amusing that everyone assumes that boring and tedious means difficult. I guarantee most people calling it boring and tedious mean boring and tedious. I think its kind of insulting to assume otherwise.
Because if they meant “boring” these threads would be about increasing the difficulty…
Thats a very narrowminded opinion. I found all the Living Story fights very easy but I only found some of them boring. Some that I found easy, i actually found very fun (Mordrem Leyleecher and mordrem dragon). However I dont think most of them should be more difficult. Difficulty doesnt determine the fun for me and Im sure its the same for many others. Obviously it can be a factor but a well designed fight can be both fun and easy at the same time. The content is basically personal story stuff designed for solo. Its not meant to be incredibly challenging as its meant to be available to everyone.
Ill go into specifics again about what I think the OP meant. Because its what I felt aswell. I already explained this earlier. But it seems noone paid any attention and continued to slander the OP’s skill instead of considering that he might actually have a point.
The fights in the Hidden Arcana instance were overtuned as puzzles. The first boss was good. It had a good mix of puzzle mechanics and regular combat mechanics (a DPS phase). After this it went down hill. The remaining fights were a series of pure puzzles to do percentage damage to each boss. Your characters build and utilities no longer mattered and the fights became boring once you understood the puzzle. The way I would of done this differently is to give DPS phases like the first boss.
Basically the fights became overtuned and too puzzle focused and as a result became unenjoyable. However they were still easy. The facet of strength was the only exception for me. It was both mechanically interesting and fun despite its low difficulty. The other fights didnt feel like I was fighting a boss, they felt like i was doing a silly puzzle. There was complete disconnect from the boss fight.
Could you define what you mean by “overtuned” cause in my previous experience it has been “the boss requires too much dps, hps or apm” making it too hard because mechanicly player characters have trouble keeping up with the requirements (examples include w/e WoW boss you like which was unkillable before a nerf).
If the fights are puzzles and as you say do not require any specific gear/build how can they be overtuned? They have no dps, hps or apm requirements that are pushed beyond players abilities/gear.
Or when you say “overtuned” do you mean “i dont like puzzles”? If you don’t like puzzles thats fine – don’t call it “overtuned” though because it literally cannot be that.
As for above I was saying “boring = not engaging to the point of not paying attention” <- this definition does not apply to the recent bosses. (which is a good thing) I do not believe that the “tedious” users mean the same as I do.

boring and frustrating
I love that “boring” and “tedious” has become code for “too hard for me and I refuse to change build or tactics.”
Seriously take a look around the threads complaining about difficulty this euphemism has run rampant.
Its a pretty weird skill actually, especially when it comes to “Structures” seems to work like a fan of damage.
If it says 0 its probably the kind of enemy its hitting.
If it says no numbers you are OOR or being blocked.
Oh we get a Llama? Yay presents! I don’t already have one and will be happy to accept – ALTHOUGH I’d rather a Mini Grentch <- I have wanted this since GW1 and they never released it, many hugs and blessings from Lyssa await the Dev and Designer who champion it’s inclusion in the game.
Looks like someone learned a new word xD
In all seriousness though it doesn’t apply to the LS, definitely can exist but you’re being over dramatic with a new word you’ve learned (which is good but proper use should be next thing to work on).
2sec Quickness on Staff 4 sounds cool but do be careful because getting to use Chaos Armour and switching to GS for Quickness Mirror Blade might be a bit of an issue (its one of the strongest spikes in the game and it balanced by its relatively long cast time and obvious animation).
I do like the idea of adding an offensive element to the Staff 4 Chaos Armour though – but not for ALL Chaos Armour.
Hopefully they will add further areas and increase the number of Crests received over the next few patches – I also am getting bored of SW and the thought of needing a further 8k badges for the rest of the armour is a little bleh.
Well if you could just point us to the Gameplay content that isn’t Living Story related we’ll be on our way. Oh wait… Thats why it needs to be able to satisfy both types of people.
Silverwastes bro. Silverwastes. Unless you want to get me on a technicality about it technically being introduced as part of the living story, despite its replayable content not really being tied to the instances themselves.
Anyway, we don’t even disagree on your main point. I want it to be able to satisfy everybody. I’m stupidly idealistic like that.
You think that the Silverwastes is more challenging, engaging and better designed than the boss fights of the Instances? I’m asking for nonfaceroll content remember thats been our entire discussion – its like you just saw any content, pointed at it and tried to score a political point without thinking
You also get might on interrupt and daze via domination minor traits.
Nope, thats Vuln on them.
You have Runes of Strength and a Greatsword and a Shatter Build – you’ll have high Might stacks a lot (just must not have noticed).
At what point did mmo players go from organizing 200 man think-tanks on corporate vent servers, to trying something once, quitting, then going onto the game’s forum and complaining that a free win wasn’t handed out.
I could understand if you’re a quadriplegic, but certainly at some point you must ask yourself if your concerns should impair the experience of others.
At the point that we’re talking about a story mission tuned for the single player to be able to complete and not hardcore raiding?
The problem is, when you funnel all these resources into making a story that is supposed to sell on its storytelling power more than its gameplay, you’re shooting yourself in the foot if its too hard to complete for some of your players.
I get that people want challenges, no doubt about it. One of my complaints is the length of fights – certainly not the challenge level.
But it’s sort of like pouring resources into making a really awesome TV series and then forcing people to play a reflex-based mini-game to be able to watch. Sure, your story is cool, but if some of your players struggle just to be able to watch it, then what was the point?
There are other ways to provide challenge without mixing it into your flagship story releases. Frankly, I find the living story intriguing enough myself, but I don’t really play it for the content. I play it to see how the story plays out.
Anyway, I know some people will say I’m being silly – that if you want a story without effort, you should go read a book or watch a movie. And maybe the people who have disabilities (or just aren’t very good) would be better off doing that, but it doesn’t change the fact that some of them are players and their opinions are just as valid as anyone else’s.
As for whether Anet will do anything about it, that’s for them to decide. They probably plan a lot of these releases months before we see them. It could be months before the feedback is even possible to take into account without revamping development tracks midway. So those who are worried about lobbying can probably take a knee. I doubt Anet is going to do anything drastic with their flagship content based on a few threads.
Well if you could just point us to the Gameplay content that isn’t Living Story related we’ll be on our way. Oh wait… Thats why it needs to be able to satisfy both types of people.
I think we’ll be taking the role of Caithe in her past – like we did with GW1 Bonus Mission Pack and Saul.
Do you genuinely believe the game we have now needs to devote resources to creating different versions of the content we get or are you just playing devil’s advocate? How many levels would you like? Rewards/Achieves in each difficulty? Forced to progress Easy->Medium->Hard or not? If the easiest difficulty is still too hard for the above poster do you want an even easier version made?
Or stick as is without the spreading thin of resources and just suggest anyone having difficulties can get a group of friends to help them?
The content we get needs to stay engaging for the majority of the playerbase, we cannot allow a few people who claim its too hard for whatever reason to dilute it when they have the option of doing it as a group to lessen the difficulty.
I’m just saying, it could be done in some way. It’s possible to compromise in this world, rather than thinking there’s an “us vs. them” lobbying war to be fought.
The problem is a lot of people are putting up threads complaining about difficulty and so there is lobbying going on. I’m putting up posts to ask for the difficulty to remain engaging and worth playing while pointing out there is a group option for anyone who finds it too hard to solo.
In anything where resources are limited you will find these sorts of debates.
I’m sorry but you cannot balance something for general release based on the most handicapped person who plays your franchise or you won’t have a game anymore. If someone has a genuine handicap and cannot complete something at the set difficulty they can still get friends to help.
Please keep the difficulty to at least the current level but leave the option for groups to play it for anyone who cannot solo it.
They could program in different difficulty levels for people like him. It’s not all or nothing.

I don’t see how anyone can complain that anything with this update is too hard. It’s not. Learn the mechanics, be patient and for one of the fights, hope rng is on your side. Aside from that.. the only thing anyone might complain about is being impatient, or lazy.
Please don’t give anet anymore reasons to dumb down the content.
Speak for yourself. I am physically handicapped. So it is not that easy. It takes constration to do the events. For some people it might be easy.

You want to try the last two LS instalments when you only have the use of one hand. It’s an absolute nightmare.
Eating a Steak is hard with 1 hand but most people have 2 hands and enjoy Steak.
Is no one going to suggest pushing Shatters? xD
Yeah, dungeons really teach you about your class
Shouldn’t have post this here, terrible and clueless players giving useless and out of place advises while remaining off topic (reminder of topic : LS is unfriendly for mesmer mechanic known as illusion summoning).
PSA : I have recorded a 3:00 minute Terragriff kill on Challenge mode. The fight isn’t as much of an issue as Predator (Bees are aoe, invulnerable, eat staff autoattacks, kill everything near the boss + follow you so your summoned duelists or staff clones get killed).
The Bees only follow you for a set time, spawn your Phants in a safer location after they stop and move yourself away from that location.
You don’t lose 40% of your abilities you just need to push them at specific times.
You’re being overdramatic and then getting upset that people are posting helpful things.
Did Challenge Mode and No Little Things Hit achieves together, Mesmer has all the tools to do any encounter and it went down fast enough – are you using DPS gear? Done with Shatter Build btw, Halting kills the mini mobs just like menders.
Time your Mirror Blade/Zerker to hit when the boss finishes his charge. Use Distortion/Chaos Storm to get through the Scream Phase.
(edited by Coulter.2315)
I think Caithe killed him, I was shocked but it definitely looked that way to me. I think she’s still ‘our’ Caithe though – just one of those soap opera cliffhangers where everyone gets the wrong idea because the characters are forbidden to act normally by the writers.
Was exciting but I think it’ll be something like she had to get the egg to the Pale Tree really fast and “didn’t have time to explain” (as we’ve all seen in countless TV shows or movies).
If it turns out she’s being controlled by Mordremoth I’ll be impressed that ANet were willing to change the mentor for all Sylvari characters in such a dramatic way.
I don’t think its Anise.
I think people don’t play eles and don’t even realize that you can’t change weapons as an ele. Only way to switch to a ranged weapon is to redo the instance.
Or don’t engage with the wrong weapon equipped..
I think Wooden Potatoes’s idea that Rytlock has gazed upon the human gods and been blinded by their glory is pretty solid and will lead to some interesting developments (we’re not getting an expansion atm) how delightful it will be to have a Charr running round the black citadel destroying it because its an afront to the true gods’ children and we can finally go home to Ascalon.
