New Music in Expansion or Earlier

Cowrex.9564

Well, I love both the music of World of Warcraft and Guild Wars 2. World of Warcraft has that epic, nostalgic and catchy themes. Guild Wars 2 on the other hand has that amazing, epic and high-fantasy themes. In other words, both OSTs are really great!

Going back to the topic, OP, there is a big chance for new music in the future. If I know ArenaNet, it’s their development of new things each time an update releases (By update, I mean patches or expansions)

What are your favourite Story Segments?

I really loved the Battle of Claw Island.

For one thing, the way it was presented! Orrians invading Lions Arch and the only way to halt them for a bit is through Claw Island. In other words, the way this part of the story is presented is just amazing!

Another thing is that I cried at this part (Which is just awesome in my opinion, first time I felt like that in an MMO story!). Reason why is because my favorite mentor died (Sierran to be specific. Rest in Peace mate).

Another thing is that there is an epic scale of fighting in this part of the story. Boats, bombs, undead armies, mortal armies, huge battles, catapults, dark skies and a freaking dragon!! In other words, it’s just plain awesome!

One last thing to add is that the title “Battle of Claw Island” is just awesome! It sounds catchy, memorable and in my opinion, groundbreaking in naming standards.

In conclusion, The Battle of Claw island is one of my favorite parts of the personal story and I’d just like to thank Anet for making an awesome storyline for an MMO!

Worth playing again?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Cowrex.9564

Cowrex.9564

Well, to put things simply, yes, it is worth playing again (Always was worth playing since release, for me anyways).

In detail:

  • Instances aren’t bugged unlike before (Although I haven’t encountered many bugs in my entire time of playing Guild Wars 2). In other words, instances are fine right now.
  • Another thing to add is that there are so many features added in the game while you were gone. One of them is the introduction of the Living Story where players will be experiencing a life-like story-telling experience (The Living story is divided into four different parts starting from January until April). The first story arc of the Living Story is called the Flame and Frost, which focuses mainly on the Norn and Charr refugees, although I have no idea as to who is attacking them or why. In short, the new Living Story feature is top-notch!
  • Another feature to add is the new Laurel System, a new currency which allows players to buy gear, and plenty of other things in a more streamlined and friendlier fashion. Laurels can be earned by doing dailies and monthlies (PvE-only though).
  • Another one is the new Guild Mission features, where guilds and their members will be pitted in missions that will require them to work together. The rewards are substantial. Also, in one interview with Colin at MMORPG.com, the guild missions will consist of different types of missions. the first one revealed was the Guild Rush, where certain numbers of guild players will do a number of tasks under a time limit to win. In short, guild missions will be a load of fun!

Alright, while I only stated 4 features, there are actually plenty more in terms of balancing in both the PvE and PvP sides and also aesthetics.

In conclusion, and what I am trying to say is that Guild Wars 2 is really fun, with plenty of new things added monthly. And to answer your last question one more time, yes, it is really worth playing again. And if you still feel dissapointed with the game, then alright.

So guys, in regards to the upcoming patch this February (Not sure if it’s 26, 27 or 28), I hear it includes lots of cool features like:

  • A new PvP map called the Spirit Watch (Which includes things like the spirits and orbs). ArenaNet also added a Two Team Rated Play which I believe will keep things in SPvP more interesting and intense.
  • Another cool feature is the Guild Missions. Personally, I am very excited to see how this feature goes and hopefully, this will bring in more players to the game and bring back the old ones. Plus, I would love to work as a guild in completing stuff.
  • The next feature is the ability to choose daily achievements. I think this is a really great feature so that we won’t have to be forced to do the same rotation of dailies per week.
  • Finally, they will also add another chapter to the Living story (I think this is the part where everything will escalate)

Anyways, I just listed down the features this new monthly update will bring (The monthly update being part of a big 4-part update, for those who do not know).

So, what’s your input on this guys? Happy? Excited? Or what?

P.S. I am not sure if this topic was already discussed but just in case, it will be merged with the main one anyways.

I haz it. My significant other decided to order me a copy, so when I saw the package from Direct Song, I couldn’t stop giggling like a little girl.

Well aside the fact that it makes me cry sometimes, I can’t really put to words how much I like it. I also love that GW music was reused, I’m a nostalgic person.

That is just awesome!

And yea, they reused the GW music (Which is a good thing imo) because it helps retain the GW feel (While I haven’t played the first Guild Wars, I can tell it’s a really great game through it’s music, but that’s just me)

Anyways, the music here is just amazing

Guild wars 2 ruined all other mmo's

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Cowrex.9564

Cowrex.9564

OP, I agree with you! While I don’t really see GW2 as ruining other MMOs like WoW-which I played for 2 or 3 years straight. The reason why is because I had a lot of good memories in this MMO-add that with music and the funny moments.

While I had good memories with other MMOs in the market, Guild Wars 2 gave me a new, refreshing and epic experience. To sum it all up, Guild Wars 2 gave me a beautiful and engaging world full of story and life compared to other MMOs.

So I’d like to thank ArenaNet for making such a beautiful game!

Cheers!

Memorable Moments!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Cowrex.9564

Well, there was this one time where I went around Blazeridge steps for hearts when I saw my party mate looking for aid (Since he was dead). I charged through a few Branded and tried reviving my party mate. That was until loads and loads of them came. I literally fought off 100 before I could revive my party mate. It was pretty hectic fighting hundreds of those guys. In other words, I felt like a kitten!

Anyways, after reviving him, me and my mate went to finish the event nearby (Which involves fixing some gates) and dang, I have to tell you guys, we killed hundreds!

And that is just one out of many memorable moments I have in this game. Long story short, others are funny, others are epic and others are really touching.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EdpXAH_y-ds

If you’re looking for examples that aren’t music videos:

And the series I’m working on is story based like the one above. A bit different humor though. lol Link in siggy if you want to check that one out. My site has a little section on how we did it too if you want to check that out. Direct link to creation section:

http://epicstory.herobo.com/site/creation.php

If you’re wanting tips on camera angles and such… Well, just play with the camera. You can make your character “disappear” by backing them against a wall or tree, then zooming in all the way. You can slightly alter the camera left or right too. The free camera option is pretty good to attempt action scenes with; just make sure to turn it off before actually playing the game again. With cropping and zooming on video editors, it’s possible to get what you want easily enough. My husband and I haven’t been all that creative on camera angles and such yet, so our videos aren’t very good for that right now. But the music videos I linked have some great examples.

And I will stop rambling now. lol I hope at least some of this helps.

Oooh, good luck on making the series! Once you’re done, be sure to post it here so we can all see it

I think you will find that your mind set will only let you see the bad.

OP, as much as I respect your opinion, I am entitled to say I “really, really” disagree on your post. First of all, the dynamic events is already an innovation in terms of MMO questing, I mean, rarely do you see this type of feature in other MMOs (But correct me if I am wrong). Another thing is that the balance patches are doing what it’s supposed to do, it may not work wholeheartedly but it’s trying to “balance” everything out, and that includes the PvP and dungeons. That’s pretty much everything I want to say.

P.S. If you don’t like the game, then leave.

Agreed. I’d kill for new town clothes. I don’t understand why we’re stuck with one crap outfit when they already have a lot of possible town clothes options in game. I doubt we’ll get either in this release, but hopefully sometime in the near future.

ETA: kittenty is a bad word, eh? Well fine, I don’t want to look like a lady pirate with loose morals. :p

Sitting

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Cowrex.9564

Cowrex.9564

Alright, so as far as the title points out, why is there no “sitting” action in GW2? Don’t get me wrong, GW2 is a fantastic and amazing game, but I was a bit disappointed at the fact that we can’t sit on chairs or stools. Imo, it would have made the drinking experiences in bars of towns of GW2 more innovative and immersible.

That’s just what i think though…

How about you guys? Any thoughts in it?

GW2 does have a large community of those who RP and obviously, with all the cosmetic gear, people who really value the look of their characters.
I was really surprised when they didn’t have chairs to actually sit in when the game went live.

I think in order for this to be accomplished, all the stationary objects (chairs, barstools, etc) would have to be converted to interactive object… which could be quite the task.

As much as I love these little touches in a game (and think they are a must-have in an MMO), I don’t know how likely it is we’ll see something like this anytime soon

I sure hope that Anet will change the static objects to interactive ones soon

Moving the Guild - Time Sensitive Issue

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Cowrex.9564

Cowrex.9564

Guilds exist cross-server, meaning that if you move to a different server your guild will exist on the original and the new server together. However, all of the influence, upgrades, and banked items/gold that were earned on the original server will remain there while the new server will need to start from scratch. Think of it as the original server is your HQ and each additional server is a separate office.

Thank you for that clarification. This point I understand. Continuing with your terminology, what I am asking is… Is it possible to move the HQ in order to retain all accomplishments already gained?

I don’t think it’s possible to move the HQ in any way but you won’t have to worry about that, the guild and everything with it will still be intact even if all the members are in other servers.
