Well they don’t want Thieves getting away under water, period. The designers of the game forgot to add another ‘get away’ ability to their nerf list long ago. I used it ONLY under water. Now, it sucks.

Again, I am a thief that does not rely on stealth that much as I do not need to rely on it with the type of setup/build I am. For me it was great, but again — the designers of this game have lost their minds.

The point is: we have Stealth. Bows are for kiddy-wanna-bee Rangers. I think some of these Thieves played games where Rangers had stealth and thought they would have the same type of fun with a Thief running around with a Bow.

shouldn’t you be allowed at times when you’re low on health, go on range?
shouldn’t you be allowed to go on range on say.. walls?
since every other classes classes have 1200 ranged weaps?

so you’re saying that a specific class should only go melee all time, while
others can switch as the situation suits it?

and since you’re so already good killing thieves,
even with this already weak weapon that got nerfed yet again,
why should you get your panties in a bunch?

I fight countless Thieves in this game using Bow as their main weapon all the time. My point I was making is that most of the players complaining are those types of players.

I don’t use bows, at all. I have never relied on the ability as a ranged ability or a get-away ability, either. I find Bows to be useless in many aspects of the game. For PVE it has horrible damage for single targets over duel pistols. And anyone running from me in PVP is going to take far more damage with Duel pistols vs. a tiny Bow.

99% of you players are D/D & Short Bow (offset). If I had relied on a bow since launch and these changes took effect, sure they would probably bother me more. Instead I took the tougher less traveled road and went S/P & P/P and learned how to get out of bad situations without the need for a Bow.

I am the 1% spec in this game and I realize that. But to literally fight a Thief that’s using his/her Bow on me the entire fight? That’s just ridiculous and pathetic.

We are still punching bags.

I’m still amazed that people think Thieves are OP, you need to roll one and learn the class, they’re extremely easy to predict, and as long as you don’t run FULL glass you’ll be fine with some quality dodges.

Yep. Quite sad players refuse to understand Thieves. Glass classes deserve to be punished in the playing field.

Warriors needed a lot of these changes, it was desperately needed. How Warriors can sit back and say “These changes are bad” when for the longest time they have done nothing but run from 1v1 fights in WvW since the games’ launch. Now they’re going to either learn to play the class correctly, or continue to run from 1v1 fights.

All the time they spent running from fights they could have been learning the class more effectively.

the blind change is that you can’t swing at nothing to get rid of blind anymore, you have to actually hit someone and miss to get rid of it. thats my understanding.

apparently warriors are kitten ed about this.

Glad they actually fixed this, I always laughed at the lack of stupidity of it not working the way it should.

(IS = Infiltrator’s Strike)
When the Thief uses IS it places a buff on the Thief’s buff bar called “Shadow Return” with a 15s timer allowing the Thief to “Return” to their original location. Once the Thief has returned to the original location (pff, original location my …..) the “Shadow Return” buff disappears AS SHOULD because the Return has been Used.

The bug:

  • IS + Dagger Storm into large groups of enemy’s in WvW several times causes the Shadow Return buff to instantly disappear not allowing me to “Shadow Return”
  • IS + Steal in WvW several times causes the Shadow Return buff to instantly disappear not allowing me to “Shadow Return”

There are several times when the “Shadow Return” ability is simply gone for no reason at all. But what I have mentioned above while doing IS immediately following those abilities cause the ability to break completely and Shadow Return can not be used.

Here’s the deal AreaNet: you continue to NERF Infiltrator’s Strike while not understanding that SOME players like me (I call it the 1% spec because you have handed out so much to D/D and D/P build thieves so everyone plays those specs) rely on IS ability as a SURVIVAL ability. Since you do not realize how S/P spec works, IS is the ability we use to survive as WE DO NOT rely on Stealth. We don’t have the MASS stealthing capability a D/D and D/P build has. How did you NOT know this?

“Oh, but player, we want you to use Stealth to survival and be unique!” <— if this is what you think, which I am almost positive you do, you are DEAD WRONG. You gave “Cloak and Dagger” to D/D builds and gave D/P builds the ability to Black Powder and hop out and stealth. Really? Do any of the designers of this game use any logical thought to this vs. a PW Thief?

So what do the designers do? Screw the S/P builds more, again and again nerfing the one true ability we have as a survival tool. I DON’T USE STEALTH LIKE D/D AND D/P WHO USE STEALTH ALL DAY —- WE USE TELEPORTING TO SURVIVE, WHAT PART OF THIS DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND ABOUT YOUR OWN kitten CLASS/BUILD?

PW does not NEED the stealth to survive, obviously because you don’t hand it to use like you have D/D and D/P setups, as you gave us Infiltrators Strike. Is any of this sinking in yet?

So while you designers continue nerfing the ability on an already damage S/P setup, you burn us more by NOT FIXING THE ABILITY TO START WITH.

Ohhh let’s ignore fixing the ability but continue to nerf the ability into the ground while not giving the PW setups the massive amount of stealthing ability the other 2 setups that are commonly used. Instead let us kill the surviving ability of a PW setup (which you could have blessed us with by not touching it in the first place like you blessed the D/D and D/P setups with mass stealth). Yes this makes perfect, complete total sense.

It is quite apparent the designers, developers and owners of this company/game do NOT frequently play S/P builds often enough. If they did, we wouldn’t be having this discussion.

Why couldn’t the designers of this game done this: leave IS the same for PW Thieves but change it for the D/D and D/P Thieves? I would have been happy here without the ability to BP Stealth or C&D stealth. I don’t have those options. Or did you forget to give us those options? Who knows, but you have boned those of us who have enjoyed the S/P build for a long time. Even when you nerfed the Damage on Pistol Whip long ago — I AGREE’D IT NEEDED NERFED AND DIDN’T EVEN COMPLAIN! But now? You guys have lost your minds.

This is pathetic. Ohh boy, here comes an infraction because THEY don’t want to hear the flippin’ truth. Whatever.

Oh, a dev on the thief forum, such an unexpected visit. Since you’re honouring us with your presence, would you mind explain us the reasoning behind Cluster Bomb range reduction? Was it so over powered? And while you’re at it, could you share some thoughts about Last Refuge, since lowering its cooldown by 30 seconds suggests that you devs don’t have a clue about players’ issues with this trait.

This is an error in how the tooltip has been calculated on all profession mechanic recharge trait lines. We will be fixing this in the next hot fix build.

ArenaNet you have shown zero initiative in combating the ******* Bot app plaguing your game. Simply zero. I just watched a thief spam Dodge more than 5+ times, and teleport around the entire zerg over and over out of stealth the entire time.

I can not believe this company has done nothing to stop this behavior in their game. I’m done with this. I have protested this company for two months refusing in purchasing gems (which I always found to be a supportive way to support ArenaNet) on the Store due to their neglecting fixing one of my skills being bugged — and now tonight’s behavior has clearly, 100 percent shown me that they do not give a kitten about the insane amount of hacking that is going on within this game.

- Auto Dodge against Attacks
- Bots are doing the auto Ability counters in WvW
- Teleporting
- Speed hacking
- list goes on and on

I reported the thief, but why? Countless players have swarmed to these forums reporting that players they have reported are still on their servers and are not being dealt with at all — and they have had many players witness with their own eyes the exploitation/hacking/cheating that has gone on for months on end. If these companies cannot control the issues with players cheating and its refusal to fix a bug on my class that has existed since the game has launched, then screw it.

All of my friends have quit long ago due to the lack of issues within this game not being addressed. I make new friends and as time moves on they too eventually quit playing with the same comments over and over: things do not get fixed, people are hacking too much . . . . My recent Fractals group quit because of the agonizing grinding/farming/letdown of Fractal skins, cheating within WvW every night, ect., etc. I’m the last of them now, and I too have had it. If this company can not hire the people needed to heavily monitor this game LIVE and the issues within WvW, then I see no good future for this game.

I’m done. I have had it with ArenaNet’s refusal and understanding knowledge in dealing with these bot injectors that have simply taken over their game.

Those who have chosen to use cheats: you have won the battle, it’s now your game and you can have it.

A thief can stealth in combat and walk through the gate without notice. This is overpowered and should be removed from the game. Same logic OP is using, or lack of.

Can he do it whilst in downed state?

Could an Ele getting mist form for 8+ seconds to get somewhere without notice?
(like thiefs have +8s stealth)

See a Thief use Shadow Refuge + AoE knock-backs on the ground where you saw them use Shadow Refuge. DUH, big red truck!

Go outside and look around at the world. Then put on thick glasses and look around. That’s FXAA. It does nothing but add, as you said, fake AA.

It’s much like the episode on Happy Days when Mr. Cunningham bought a color filter card to place on his black and white television in hopes of making it look like his TV was a color unit. FXAA does the same thing.

As for performance I have very, very high standards for what a game should produce. My system, too, is not the same as yours. I gain around 15fps using the AA above in areas where there is fog and other terrain anomalies. Not all systems will react, but these settings are far superior than ArenaNet’s lacking attempt. Nvidia would even agree.

One area I laugh at, and its one of many, is the wood floor in the Broker building in LA. No matter what AA is used the floor is so jagged and has shown no effort whatsoever by ArenaNet to polish the games smooth look. Too much time went into the games brush stroke look when all that work could have been complementing their artwork with better in-game AA.

To me when companies use FXAA they are simply looking for a cheap fix without effort.

As said in the title I come here to news on the optimization of the game that already has nine months, it has been 9 months I expect a small side of cpu optimization and nothing we don’t know if it’s in court, if you work disappoint, or simply that you don’t intend to work disappointed?
The problem with this lack of optimization and the game only uses 3 cores.
In mcm we are left with the fall in combat fps (15/20 fps) so the gpu and cpu are not optimal used (40% gpu and the cpu max 35%).

Config :
-gtx 670 oc
-amd fx850 oc a 4.6 GHz
8 go ddr3 2133MHz

Could you tell me if you counted finally optimize the game?

PS: I enclose a screen printed where you see me on a border area (mvm) with a graph that shows the use of the gpu (78%) / cpu (32%), this scenario also works in PvE areas.

You’re showing us a Screen shot of your game in Windows Mode. Windowed Mode will never push your Graphics Card or CPU to its full potential.

With that said I won’t argue the fact this game is held together by shoestrings. ArenaNet didn’t develop the games engine and their team of coders need to swallow their pride and talk to Havok about the issues this game has.

ArenaNet spent more time on game looks than game optimizations. NCsoft is only allowing ArenaNet to release content to the game. Bug fixes and any hard optimizations will not be happening any time in the next few years. You can quote me on that, I’m never wrong about these things.

Oh hey. This same thread is also in the elementalist forums. I’ll just copy post my response from there.

“We shouldn’t be discouraging the creative use of abilities. It takes away from tactics and strategies that can be used and makes the game less dynamic and interesting.”

Of course every Elemental player will say this. Sadly, this ability is abused heavily and out of control. NO player, I repeat, NO player should be able to just get up from downed and run inside a keep then self resurrect themselves. This is not what World vs World is about.

And yes for the Record: Warriors should not be able to do this either — but at least they have a timer.

does anyone even remember when anet SWITCHED vapor form on ele downed from the non insta cast to the insta cast skill? they WANTED it like this. why would they reverse their own decision?

I don’t care if it’s insta or not, it should allow the player to run into keep/tower entrance portals.

Shortly back Thief Infiltrator Strike was changed to teleport back 1200 range. Ok, fine. How is it that Elemental Vapor running into keeps and self reviving being ignored? Honestly I’m seeing double standards with this.

Anyway, Vapor running into keeps after being downed (warrior or elemental) needs to stop. Players should not be able to use these types of abilities past keep/tower doors from a downed state.

With Infiltrator Strike I never got downed and ran into a Keep/Tower and self revived and rinse and repeat.

Whoever came up with the term “Wardrobe Malfunction” should be punched. It’s over used so those who intentionally flash the camera do not get fined.

Using it for GW2 is cheap. Should be “character graphical gear glitches”.

fix it. No reason that a class should have so much mitigation (i.e. stealth) in it and damage burst. No way a class should be able to go into a 20 man zerg without fear of dying. Get in trouble? Go into stealth and run.

You need to stop this type of behavior in the forums. I am a PW Thief who does NOT rely on Stealth to get away. I am tired of players accusing Thief’s being OP “OMG Stealth” when I can run around and take out players without even using stealth.

Read my signature from one of the developers. Stealth is not the problem, Daggers are the problem because they do way too much damage. Learn the enemy first.

Nvidia, who I dislike greatly as a company, is right. What that supposed employee said is true. FXAA does not even work that well in GW2 by any means. It was slapped into the game and that was it. FXAA is basically a pair of glasses that blur the games appearance, it doesn’t offer any true AA ability. ArenaNet made it worse by not even allowing the game to take advantage of some of the FXAA features — but not that it would have done much anyway.

Then there’s the other issues at hand: money. Company’s that develop games either join in our join out of Nvidia support by slapping logo’s on their games and getting profit. If Nvidia can not make money off of the game at hand, then support from them is null.

GW2 will never, ever, never-ever see AntiAliasing support from Nvidia. The current FXAA within the game is all you’re going to get, and that’s that. ArenaNet wants GW2 to be the biggest MMORPG game on the planet, but time is showing that most players are getting tired of the no-bug-fix company along with its constant content tossing. I like content, but so far I personally have seen mostly meaningless content being toss at my screen. ArenaNet has a lot to work on, and not enough employees with well driven management behind it.

As for AntiAliasing, go here and get better performance and better graphics:

Nvidia said a while back that GW2 is still heavily CPU bound even AFTER ArenaNet said it was no longer CPU bound. The game still heavily relies on CPU and so-so on the GPU. People who say they get better performance on old GPUs are probably running good CPUs — that’s why.

We’re quickly approaching a year on this games release. My ability on my Thief is still broken, not a single performance patch has been released and tons and TONS of botted apps are allowing players to roam WvW that do all the fighting skill selection for them. MMORPG.com was quite ignorant to list GW2 as the number 1 game of 2013.

None of the 2011 CPUs come with heatsinks . . .

But to the other guy above: yes OP, 4.5Ghz’ish will make the game run quite well, you just need very good cooling.

I run the CoolerMaster 240m liquid cooling unit, it is very superior:

It also uses a very well designed ‘fin’ setup for better heat disappation for the waterblock (shown below.) The only thing you will need to worry about is if you have the case to install this unit in. In my experience this unit is better than the Corsair H100i cooler. Far better design.

CoolerMaster’s 240m is cheaper than Corsair’s H100i

Reveal my stealth? Sure, I’m ok with that. Give me Heavy Armor, tons of HP and tons of Toughness and then we’ll talk at the table

Bad players get Good players Nerfed because they do not understand how to counter the other player.

I am a Thief and I HARDLY use Stealth when fighting another player

Stealth is NOT the problem when I can go around and take out players left and right WITHOUT the use of Stealth!

I will agree, however, Cloak and Dagger IS a problem within this game
