ArenaNet’s decision to nerf Pistol Whip by 15% yet do nothing about the D/D spec nearly one-shotting players is what surprises me. And they say they have meetings on class spec? How can they have meetings on these sort of things when Pistol Whip locks you to the ground after its animation kicks in yet look past HS spamDeath?
I’m still shocked PW got nerfed, but what do I know; I’m just a gamer.
Meetings? What meetings?
Sad they nerfed Pistol Whip, yet D/D thief build was totally, 100%, ignored.
I’ve lost interest in this game like the Dev’s have developing.
I have 1,100 Badges of Honor. I loot mine, I just have ZERO use for them.
- No reason to purchase PVP gear, just buy them from the trade broker.
- I don’t use them on siege weapons, because others lay them down before me.
Badges of Honor were poorly designed just like WvW Orbs.
I love how people blame thief OPness on “stealth” while I go around killing players *WITHOUT even USING stealth on them on my thief.
Stealth is NOT the problem with Thieves. The problem is MMORPG players are NOT *used to fighting a melee class with mass utility.
Now, read my signature.
I’ve been using this for some time now. It works GREAT!
http://ipkonfig.com/guild-wars-2-bringing-antialiasing-to-the-game
Thieves, I’m a Mesmer and can at times beat them, but they run away or call friends when they start losing
Mesmers are easy to take out because I only need to look for the Mesmer image that moves like a real player — and AoE all his/her images. A lot of Mesmers do not move tactically, there for making their images quite useless.
The other day while playing I ran into a player that used a hack to instantly kill a player. Ok, fine, but then this player bounced to another player and instantly killed the other player.
Suspicious? No. The player bounced to the first play and immediately bounced to the other player and instantly killing the other player within a second from the first player.
This player did not even care to hide the fact he/she one-shot people as they continued to do it through the even. This is sad.
Why are the makers of this game placing more concern on banning Bots than players blatantly going around and using hacks left and right? It took months for them to finally agree to remove the Orbs out of WvW due to the amount of exploitation — however the hack-injectors available for this game are massive and need desperate attention by the developers.
Games that use third party engines have always been a focal point for injectors that allow players to cheat in PVP situations, whether it be speed hack, melee speed animation hack (haste) and other hacks used against other players. I have lost so much interest in WvW due to the hacking by other players. I have had several friends ask “Hey you play Guild Wars 2, is it worth it?” Normally I would say “Yes, it’s a great game, and fun so go out and grab it”. To simply put it, I tell them to avoid the game and give it a few years or more.
I can’t tell them to purchase a game that is littered with hackers — I would be the first person they would turn to and yell at for wasting money on a game. If the developers are not able to put a stop to the hacking in this game, I can’t recommend it. I am honestly frustrated at the lack of response from the company that has placed more threat to those who Bot than those who Hack.
What’s worse is winning in WvW does not give the player any direct reward other than to brag on the forums “Our server beat yours!”. I don’t receive anything on Friday if my server was number 1. Friday comes, resets, and I rise and repeat every week. Hacking for this is just pointless for those who choose to do so.
I am at a loss here because the thought of logging in and trying to enjoy what I enjoy most, PVP aspects of the game, to only be knocked down by someone who resorted to hacking is just not my type of fun.
Sincerely,
A customer (not a consumer)
I believe elementalists have a bit more mobility/speed than a thief. At least that’s what I found when I play my elementalist or race with my friend’s elementalist.
Elementals have WAY more escape tactics than a thieve. The OP simply wants to complain about the class he/she hates the most.
I have watched Ele’s drag groups across the map while they continually escape EVERY fight over and over.
I’ve said it once, and I’ll continue to say it:
Bad players get Good players Nerfed in MMORPGs
I figure once they nerf out class into the ground, I’ll be onto another game hopefully. Least I enjoyed the long awaited GW2 (and massively delayed) to come to this
Is this anything like when you walk down steps you take fall damage? LOL, cause that’s like epic!
Something smells fishy — really FishNET smelly.
Alright, who got Gangnam Style nerfed?
Turn off Promote skill target “AND” Auto-Targeting
Ok, so today I noticed another Bug about this ability:
You can almost spam teleporting! — It’s actually kinda neat how it works out.
So you teleport ‘to’ a player, kill them, then teleport again to ‘another’ player.
Then you can teleport back to the original spot you started the first teleported from.
One heck of a nice bug I must say!
No I’m not exploiting it — it just happens on its own. Nothing I can do about it, but it sure helps me move around a LOT in WvW in mass battles.
I did a support ticket on the bug linking back to this thread, but I don’t think they read much of the bugs. Actually like this bug…and that’s a first for me!
NOTE:
Basically here’s what it is doing. Teleport from A to B, then use ability again and you teleport to C, then back to A.
It is only supposed to Teleport from A to B, then back to A. It is quite random right now, but at times you go from A to B, then to C, then back to A. (basically doubles the distance)
(edited by Crawford.4135)
Since last patch the Thief Shadow Return has bugged beyond worth.
Instance:
I used Shadow Return to a player, killed him they used the ability to Shadow Return where I started.
What Happened:
Shadow Returned to Player
Killed Player
Hit ability to Return to previous spot
Shadow Return created a new Teleport AT the player
Hit ability again to Return to preview spot
It then returned me to original location
Seriously, this is annoying! Been happening all day Saturday and today.
THANK YOU!
I might actually come back and play now!
/Bow to ArenaNET
Get over it OP. The ability is out of control and I AM A THIEF. We should NOT be running around and doing those types of burst damage.
Warriors burst damage will more than likely be hit, too. Cry about Backstab nerf, but it will get adjusted for balance as it should be.
I’m a Thief and I came here to sign this thread

I will certainly agree, we need this capability nerf off our class. We’re fine without the ability to spam-stealth like this.
The guard bug is common, though there are still some cases of hacking. Usually this is obvious, because the orb won’t just drop and despawn.. it will appear at an enemy keep almost instantly.
In any case, orbs really needed to be temporarily disabled a long time ago. This issue has been killing player morale and fueling hatred between servers instead of healthy competition. Plus we all know that orb bonuses are exacerbating the severe imbalance with current matches.
The top servers contain ArenaNET employees — we’re stuck with these Orb buffs, and no bottles of KY Jelly.
*I could have made a thread with the same title —-— and without a video.
The thread subject would have read:
Create a Thief.*
It already ruined WvW bud, and ArenaNET has not done a SINGLE thing to put a stop to it.
I still see players fly-hacking Orbs and Wall-Exploiting. ArenaNET is too busy banning Bots….and twiddling their thumbs. (this company doesn’t care anymore, they did PR just before the game went live to push sales numbers. Once those numbers came in, that was the end of their PR)
Really? 100 Strikes from a Warrior and you’re complaining about Backstab?
Really?!
I’d like to know why. Anet posts on Bots all over the forums, but they refuse to address the hacking issues with the Orb and other DPS exploits players have been doing in this games PVP system.
I could care less about bots as they do not effect me directly, but hackers do.
Is NCsoft running this game now?
Another thing to do: don’t purchase the first expansion available for the game. Hit GW2 where they listen the most — money.
Hackers have pretty much taken over WvW
Orb Buff is ignored by Anet
So, I won’t be purchasing anything from them further. Anet listens as well as NCsoft did in Aion — and I won’t be a part of it by handing them money.
Get rid of the ephinhg Orbs
Wait, you’re going to have a Balance Meeting? WvW only becomes massively unbalanced when one server obtains 3 Orbs.
How can you Dev’s ignore the Orb buffs ARE the imbalance to the game? Talk about turning your heads from the actual problem when it has been looking you in the face the whole time.
Btw: something that just slapped me was the Outmanned buff should be: ZERO armor/weapon repair bills. Afterall, that server is the one getting pounded and shouldn’t have repair bills at all.
I don’t know. I just feel Anet has ignored this for far too long (along with performance threads on the game) and I might hang up my hat to this game soon. I know their employee despise me and hate my guts (they know who I am irl) but they could at least listen to the community’s concerns on this Orb issue.
Who’s with me on this? You know you want to ride a charr as a mount…
This is the sort of thing that a competent PVP designer would have flagged within 15 seconds as a “no go.” That a “rich get richer” sort of buff like the orb buff is still in the game a month later, after thousands of posts worth of negative feedback explaining why it is such a bad idea, tells you volumes about the competency of anet’s WvWvW team.
That — or their WvW team play on the servers that hold 3 Orbs 90% of the week’s duration.
I think it is a bit strange you would make this post. If you’re not worried about being banned or investigated, then why make this thread? (don’t change the subject)
To me you make yourself look more suspicious than the incident itself. Anyone accusing me of exploiting and reporting me — I have no concerns whatsoever.
ArenaNET, to my knowledge, does nothing about players exploitation in the game. I have watched countless players exploit, and exploit, and exploit — to this day they are STILL in the game playing.
It’s like the developers/management in Aion all over again.
Orb Buff:
150 to All Stats
15% HP
Orb Outmanned Buff:
Magic find?
Experience gain?
A server needs magic find and experience gain against servers dominating them? How is this still a subject Anet won’t address? Any why would I need a boost to something that won’t benefit me while outmanned?
Am I the only living human being on planet Earth that see’s the Orb buff issue as a huge problem in this game?
When each server has 1 Orb WvW is actually balanced. Once one server obtains all 3, stats and numbers go right out the window and create a very unbalanced WvW.
Commander title allows me to find those NOT to follow. They spent 100g for me to know where they are on my map, and there for avoid them.
I have found far more better players that don’t have the title, and those are the ones I hang with.
Blue Arrow = Here’s stupid
being able to pull ppl off of cliffs when you are out of range of ANY attack is complete BS
in WvW
Posted by: Crawford.4135
I have to agree. The range on it needs reduced
Yes, but not against all abilities. Warriors, for example, can still knock you back. I use it all the time when I finish off a player.
Dagger Storm is OP? Dagger Storm is OP? Dagger Storm is OP?
LEARN TO INTERRUPT IT!
and they’re getting their butts kicked! lol
Sorry JQQ, your days are numbered!
I’ve been running S/P for a long time — even while D/D thieves laughed at it……I had the last laugh.
As a Thief, I am glad to see this change. I think how stealth was intended to actually work is fine, and trying to make it more perma is garbage. I enjoy mine without people trying to ruin the class by looking for loopholes only to later get the class nerfed in areas it should not be.
I’ve yet to see a commander actually command. Right now the Commander status is just a bragging statue and nothing more.
When I see the blue arrow pointing down on someone that has the Commander icon, it just tells me “here’s stupid”. It allows me to avoid them.
Not on Anet’s forums, and I hope they never do put them in. Server specific forums bring a huge amount of drama and I think Anet wants to avoid that.
1. We don’t talk about GW2 Orbs.
2. Refer to rule #1.
3. If you reached #3 rule, refer to rule #1.
My signature should help you….a lot.
Take away the Thief stealth and Shadowing ability, and you’ll have free badges. I’m not giving you a free badge.
I feel sorry that you have so many other people grabbing at the same coattails. Being a server hopper is truly a rough life.
Well said my friend
That looks more like a heating issue with the laptop’s graphics card than anything. As Rabbiddog said: check your fans and clear out any dust.
Also avoid setting the laptop on anything that will prevent good air-flow.
Having only a x4 bus does hinder it a little bit. Look at this chart. http://tpucdn.com/reviews/Intel/Ivy_Bridge_PCI-Express_Scaling/images/perfrel.gif
When running gw2 on a quad core, you won’t see individual core load reach 100%. Windows sorta distributed it out to other cores, making it look like each core is partially loaded. If you use a program called ‘ProcessExplorer’ you can inspect each thread’s cpu load. You will see the main gw2 thread eating 22-24% of CPU load, and because you have a quadcore each core will be 25%, so it is already max. Since that one thread is probably the main game loop. other threads will wait for it to finish before getting more instructions.
Gw2 actually has about 50 threads, but only 3 of them actually have cpu loads, the remaining 47 uses barely any cpu. On my quad core, the 3 threads have cpu loads of 22, 17 and 10 respectively. So gw2 at best is working 3 cores, but because the main thread is running at max it slows down other threads.
Another easy way to test is to disable one of your core. You will find that running the game on 3cores will yield no FPS difference.
Yep, what he said, and well said.
Keep in mind too OP, that you are only running 4GB of memory. While this is not bad and will run the game, the problem is the game uses a LOT of memory. Just the other day I was looking at the memory usage on gw2.exe — it was up to 2.6G of memory usage. Keep in mind that your OS will use a good portion, around 1-2GB of memory, and anything else running in the background.
If money is an issue look at least towards the 8GB realm of things. I run the game with 12GB (triple channel) as well have virtual memory disabled on my OS and never run out of memory — you’re kinda pushing the limits here.
CPU overclocking will benefit you quite well for this game (sadly and oddly), so take the above suggestions provided and start OCing that bad boy

October 22, 2012 patch: performance in WvW worse

Glad I’m not the only one seeing this. My system is pretty hefty all around.
As for what Miggel pointed out, yes that is sad. My CPU is overclocked (and liquid cooled) and yes the game does respond much better and has been for some time. This patch, however, has made a lot of that meaningless.
What gives ArenaNET ?

Has anyone else noticed this? Sure isn’t placebo, that’s for sure.
I was reading over the Structured PVP changes coming and saw a photo in the article and kinda chuckled to myself “if only the game had smooth edges like the photo has, wonder why it looks prettier on their end . . .”

Back to dreaming
Wtf are you talking about? The nerf to Assasin’s Signet was 100% required and has turned out to be an awesome balance tweak. Instead of a single attack being buffed, we now have 5 attacks being buffed. This opens up the paths for new builds such as Unload/blind builds and more.
Excellent tweak Anet, well done.
Amen. I never used that piece of junk before because a lot of times my auto-attack ate it up. Now the ability is WORTH equipping! (makes up for the nerf to Pistol Whip for 5 attacks!) :P
