[Suggestion] Dye our commander tags!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Crimson Clouds.4853

I believe this comes under a bracket of “too much choice”.

I wouldn’t mind there being an extra three or four commander tag colours, as long as they are considerably different to the ones currently available. Green and black would make reasonable additions.

The problem with adding multiple shades of one colour is that it then becomes difficult to distinguish commanders apart at a glance, if there are multiple on a map.

I imagine it going something along the lines of this:
“Champ at green”
“Which green? There are 4?”
“Dark green!”

Yes- the counter argument is to use the commander’s name instead of tag colour.. but really, tag colour is so much more convenient overall.

Also, the benefit of the current colours is that from what I’ve heard, it’s easy for people with visual impairments/colour-blindness to differentiate between them.

TLDR; It seems like an unnecessary addition that would more likely hinder organisation than improve it.

It’s certainly tricky, but it’s entirely possible. I did it without the exploitative methods when it came out. It’s meant to be challenging.. I think it took me somewhere between 10 and 20 tries before I got a tactic going and was on my way to succeeding.

I believe Dulfy had some tips and tricks on how to win and which skills to use when.

Policy on the LFG Tool

Crimson Clouds.4853

What about selling access to ones home instance for gathering resources? Namely I just spotted this new type of selling in lfg just about an hour ago : " Sell access crafting nodes (17) for 20 silver…..->" . Does it belong to the dungeon sort of selling section or is it abusing the lfg due to selling access to “items”?

I was thinking of asking this question earlier, but then I realised that people also sell portals to JP chests too. Both are fairly similar when it comes down to it and considering paid JP ports aren’t mentioned above as an infraction, I’d assume that resource instance is ok too. Both are similar in the fact that they reward you with loot (that is affected by RNG in terms of quality and/or quantity).

I think it’s very cheeky though… if somebody needs to mine the home instance nodes, I’d happily let them in for free.

Tome of Knowledge - Scroll Skill spamming

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Crimson Clouds.4853

Crimson Clouds.4853

I don’t think it is inconsiderate for somebody to use their skill scrolls next to the bank or in a crowded area- but it is more considerate of them to move away. Sure, the animation and noise can be distracting, especially with effect volume turned up. If it bothers me, I just run a couple of seconds away from the player and I’m fine. I usually have my effect volume down pretty low anyway because the noise gets tiring if you’re running around in a zerg (mesmer GS1 skill in particular).

I agree that the effect of the Scroll of Knowledge etc could be reduced a little, perhaps more of a shimmering/sparkling than a flash of light and without any sound effect. The amount of these kind of items in-game now mean that they are fairly common place, so it seems kind of strange to “celebrate” using one with dazzling effects.

Legendary Help

I wouldn’t recommend making a legendary for the sake of it. You kinda sound like you don’t feel really either way about any of the current legendaries.

I think maybe you’d risk being disappointed if you make a legendary now which you don’t adore and you discover that you absolutely love one of the new HoT legendaries. There are a couple of other possibilities too: what if you don’t like hammer engi skills/build? The other new weapons each profession are getting might also affect your decision?

Perhaps you should focus on saving up the materials shared by the legendaries? Start working toward saving up gold for a precursor (in-time) along with Icy Runestones and T6 materials.

One other thing that bothers me slightly is you saying this “Some people find it (The Juggernaut) too big”. Don’t worry about what other people think. This is your legendary and your adventure. Most people I’ve come across don’t really mind about what other people have equipped.

Personally, I think you should go for a legendary that you will use a lot. Imo it doesn’t matter too much if you only use it on your main, as long as you get the use out of it that you desire. I have “shoe-horned” myself into playing with particular weapons (that I don’t enjoy) and it just wasn’t worth it: enjoyment > aesthetics.

Thought this was a great idea, but Aechidna made a good point about dye prices rising (but then again mtpelion made a good point to counter it). Hmm, don’t know exactly what to think…

But you can still buy Unidentified Dyes with Laurels though, which are now more easily obtained in greater numbers than previously.

I agree with the general point of having achievements though, it’d be great to know which dyes I’ve unlocked already and also a way to preview unobtained dyes in the dye frame of the hero panel.

Perhaps there could be achievements for unlocking a whole series of the exclusive dyes? It would be much like the BL weapon achievements.

More Pets

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Crimson Clouds.4853

Surely adding more pets would be a little redundant? The only difference would be the aesthetic.

If I’m not mistaken, all boons/conditions are covered by the current selection of pets, so unless new boons or conditions there would be a load of overlap between pets.

I guess the only way to mix it up would be for new pets to have different stats. E.g. a new “burn” pet would have different stats to the already existing Salamander Drake, the new one would be less tanky and more offensive, for example.

Using the above idea would be fine for a new collection of pets, but I don’t think it would make sense for every beast in-game to have a charmable version. There would surely be problems if you could equip a huge creature like an Oakheart or Jotun and it would also be strange if you could charm the more intelligent races like grawl, ettin, skritt etc.

Personal Trading.

Thunderbird, I got about 4 lines into that text wall and gave up.

Your first analogy is pointless, about a farmer selling say, eggs outside his/her front gate. I’ve seen them where I live- a sign saying how much they cost and an “honesty box” type-thing for the payment.

BUT there’s a large difference in cost between a few dozen eggs and a prestige item like a legendary/precursor in-game. My point being this: you wouldn’t put your car outside with the keys in the lock and a sign saying “£2,000- please put the money through the letter-box”.

Personal Trading.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Crimson Clouds.4853

If there was player-to-player trading, it would have to follow a 15% tax like the TP already has, otherwise there will be two separate economies. Also the 15% tax is there for a reason, like many people have already mentioned.

The benefit of the TP is that you can be anywhere in-game if you want to sell something. A few clicks and the item has been removed from your inventory. You have no need to put up your own ad for your item and you don’t have to wait around for a person to agree to trade.

Oh… and the other massive benefit? You can’t get scammed through the TP. Even with GW1’s player-to-player ‘safe’ trading system, people were still able to swap items last moment with an item with a similar name or icon, or reduce the item’s quantity (e.g. changing 100 ectos to 10 ectos).

The only reason why people trade outside TP with randomers is because they want to evade the 15% tax. It’s not out of the kindness of their heart- trading is so insecure that it puts both trade parties at risk.

ANet just needs to make LFG/chat trade advertising a clear infringement of the rules and be done with it.

Selling on the LFG

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Crimson Clouds.4853

I guess at this point I’m wondering what the report abuse option on the LFG tool is for. If it is okay to use it to sell items, post guild recruiting messages, or post just about anything else one can think of not related to trying to find a group for game play, then what is considered LFG abuse? Unless it just means someone posting obscene messages or what not. Maybe Anet can define what LFG abuse is.

Perhaps when it comes to dealing with LFG grey areas Anet’s resources are tied up with other in game abuse issues and they don’t want to deal with it?

I read somewhere that it can be (as you said) obscene/indecent/racist etc messages. I’ve also heard that it’s the “go-to” report for being kicked from a dungeon party for an invalid/unfair reason, especially towards the end of a dungeon (some dungeon sellers fill their groups with unknowing PUGs and kick them before the end-boss to fill with paying customers).

I’m fairly sure these come under “LFG abuse”, but like you said, it would be good to have a comprehensive list of all reportable infractions.

On a completely different note, something in my mind is saying that Anet has to be somewhat careful with the rules/guidelines they set as it would affect workload of the CS people/moderators.

If they make LFG item selling officially reportable, then the amount of reports for this type of infraction will likely increase, meaning more reports have to be dealt with by the moderators. On the other hand, it’s possible that reducing the amount of LFG item selling would result in fewer “scamming” reports…

Crimson Clouds.4853

I do agree that a clear policy on the use of the LFG tool for buying and selling needs to be stated in the LFG tool window.

Zypher mentioned that writing this in LFG would cause clutter… what about adding a separate report function as “LFG item trade advertising” or something to that effect? This way it’s obvious that it’s against the rules without adding extra text to the usual LFG window.

Suggestion: Create a "List of Guilds" tab

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Crimson Clouds.4853

I like this idea very much!

I have a few concerns though… and perhaps a few improvements/suggestions?

If every recruiting guild in say, Europe opted in to this guild recruitment page, how would the names be ordered? How would it filter?

I could filter “PvX”, “English speaking” and perhaps a selection of which size of guild I’d like to join say “Medium” (about 200 players).. but still that would unlikely narrow my search by much. Out of the hundreds of guilds that appear, it would only be the first few that I’d inspect, which seems thoroughly unfair on the results further down. But what would determine the order of results? Alphabetical, currently most active/most players online, most recently recruited, random? All have their flaws.

The current benefit of people recruiting in map chat is that you are likely to find a guild that fits your needs: perhaps the guild is most active (and thus recruits most) during your normal play hours, or in the areas of game-play/maps you are most likely to play in. This is somewhat lost with a list of all guilds that is able to be accessed/used as recruitment all the time.

I think a better solution would be to have a new frame in the LFG window for “Guilds” with two sub-frames “Recruiting Guilds” and “Looking for Guilds”. This way there can be direct interraction with the recruiter and recruitee through party chat immediately and credentials for both can be displayed. It would be near identical to the other areas of LFG but with a few extra markers- of course the country flags for guild language, but also markers for mainly PvE/PvP/WvW guilds.

The problem with this idea is that multiple people from the same guild could spam up the “Recruiting Guilds” section, unless there was a way for the game to use guild information to only allow one person in that guild to recruit through LFG at a time. This immediately seems like it would make the system redundant, but I believe that one recruiter that has a method to broadcast everywhere immediately is better than 3 recruiters running around to different maps.

Selling on the LFG

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Crimson Clouds.4853

Crimson Clouds.4853

It’d be great to have a CLEAR comment from Anet whether using the LFG system to sell is an offence or not (and whether it should/shouldn’t be reported).

Under current conditions, I would assume that it IS a reportable offence. (From what is written in the link https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/archive/bltc/Selling-items-to-players-for-in-game-currency/first#post4464679).

The problem here is that people are playing devil’s advocate because the dev comment (along with Gaile’s comment) isn’t quite precise enough. It does not say specifically “Using the LFG as a way to advertise trade is against the rules and reportable as LFG System Abuse”.

But anyway, I’ve been joining these LFG trade groups and saying what I presume: that LFG trade advertising is against the rules as it falls under LFG system abuse.

A lot of people are surprised when they find out that it (most likely) is against the rules- but of course they are surprised! How are they meant to know otherwise? (apart from a little bit of common sense, I suppose?)

So many people are using the LFG as a way to trade people are assuming that it’s ok to do so. After all, there’s no obvious sign saying otherwise.

I’d prefer these people to be told a kind way rather than be reported for something that they didn’t know was wrong. So, I jump into their parties and tell them what I know. It makes sure that they are safe and it reduces the spam on the lfg.

It’s not just precursors anymore, either. I’ve seen BL trading contracts and rare back items being advertised now. It’s going to snowball to “cheaper” items like T6 stacks and damask soon, I guarantee it.

Personally, I don’t fancy the idea of having to scroll through lengths of open world LFG trading stuff just to find a SW map or whatever it may be.

So, either ANet needs to make it explicit to everybody, or they need to allow it under a new frame in the LFG system and a safe player-to-player trading system outside TP (the latter probably won’t happen).

That’s because it’s difficult to determine when somebody is actually trolling or if they just made an honest mistake (or multiple honest mistakes). People shouldn’t be punished for not understanding.

The only time I can recall somebody being suspended for trolling is during the maize balm farm in Rata Sum (which was talked about on here). Basically a guy was killing ambient creatures before somebody else could use their maize balm. The reason why they were suspended wasn’t actually the fact that they were trolling though, but apparently because they didn’t do what a moderator told them to (after being moved to a separate map instance so they could kill ambients without upsetting others, they attempted to move back into the original map to continue).

Building on the previous point, what about shields? They are stowed on the back and take up a huge amount of room. If you had two weapon sets (e.g. sword/shield mace/shield) which shield would appear on the character’s back?

Lolol. Since when you have to carry 2 shields?

Well, the thread is about having the second weapon set visible, even when stowed. If you have a shield in each weapon set, then both shields will have to be displayed…

Even if using a shield in both of your weapon-sets is unlikely optimal build-wise, it doesn’t mean it’s impossible.

Crimson Clouds.4853

My biggest problem with this would be for people with slow loading computers/computers with generally poor performance. Suddenly computers are going to have to deal with loading and displaying a bunch more models and textures. It would be slow and messy- consider two legendary greatswords both stowed and visible.

My second problem is clipping issues. I think this is fairly self-explanatory really, especially when it comes to back items, which already have clipping problems with two-handed weapons.

My third problem is when a character has two weapon sets- all weapons single handed. (E.g. Mesmer: Scepter/Focus Sword/Pistol). It makes sense for all of these weapons to be holstered at the hip. Anywhere else would appear to be pretty odd: reaching them would appear awkward. Small character models (e.g. Asura) already have limited space for these weapons to show.

Building on the previous point, what about shields? They are stowed on the back and take up a huge amount of room. If you had two weapon sets (e.g. sword/shield mace/shield) which shield would appear on the character’s back?

I also feel that this would leave out Eles and Engis. Should all Engi kits that are equipped in utility slots appear somewhere on an Engi’s body?

I agree with what most people have already said… it would just look cluttered.

My only solution to one of these problems is to make any back-item be hidden when this option is toggled on. This reduces clipping issues and also improves pc performance.

Either way, all in all.. I really doubt this will ever happen. There are too many “what if”s and different circumstances that need to be considered, a lot of work… and all for a very minor aesthetic change which many people wouldn’t really care for.

I lost 25g to him the duel before. Then re dueled for 50g.

Wait a second.

Ignore the fact that you were promised 50g if you won, but didn’t receive it.

So, the first round the agreement was: If you (Hatuey) win, you get 25g. If you lose, you pay 25g. You lost, and gave 25g to the guy. (Which will never be recovered by CS- you willingly gave this guy 25g out of your own pocket).

Second (mutually exlcusive) round, stakes increase and you win. You don’t receive the money. Put it this way: at least you didn’t lose, then you really would have lost 50g.

Otherwise… are you saying that you won the first round as well and were promised 25g (that you didn’t receive) and then became surprised that you didn’t receive 50g for winning the second round?

That isn’t really the point- the point is that the event is still exploitable and creating a toxic community. Although I would complete the event as intended despite report threats from the farmers, a lot of people wouldn’t be so bold.

Arena-net obviously don’t want the farming to continue, otherwise they wouldn’t have nerfed it before. The problem is, it’s making a return.

Hi,

My boyfriend just observed a commander demanding that people fail an event in Frostgorge Sound, or be reported by the whole zerg following the commander.

Sounds familiar, right? This is exactly what happened at the Coiled Watch Champ Farm a few months back. It was nerfed, but apparently not enough.

The event itself is called Breaking The Ice and is required to be completed for part of the Living Story.

The commander has been reported and a bug/exploit report filed.

As what has been discussed previously on the Coiled Watch threads, threatening to report/reporting somebody who has not broken the rules is against the rules itself. Moreover, purposefully trying to fail an event in this way is exploitative and makes it difficult for some people to continue their LS. This kind of farming is toxic to the community.

A-net. Change the champs here to elites or veterans. Get rid of the champs here and you get rid of your problem.

Tailors can only make light armour, runes and bags.
To make ascended weapons you require either 500 in Artificer, Huntsman or Weaponsmith.

Artificer makes: Staffs, Scepters, Focuses and Tridents
Huntsman makes: Torches, Pistols, Rifles, Longbows, Shortbows and Harpoon Guns
Weaponsmith makes: Daggers, Swords, Axes, Hammers, Greatswords, Maces, Shields and Spears.

So to make an ascended greatsword you require 500 in Weaponsmithing.

I want Kodan instead of Tengu

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Crimson Clouds.4853

Crimson Clouds.4853

As already mentioned, I don’t think Kodan will be introduced due to lack of customisation and height/clipping issues.

There’d be a terrible lack of variety: polar bears are white. The most variation you’d get would be various shades of white, off-white, pale grey or even very pale blue. No fur patterns. I reckon there’d be a terrible lack of facial diversity as well because there’s only so much you can do with a polar-bear’s face before it doesn’t look like a polar bear anymore. (meanwhile, charr have many fur colour/pattern combinations and lots of different facial designs as they are somewhat based off of felines in general).

Also, the larger the model, the more stretched and lower quality any textures are, so armour and weapons will look pretty bad (I regret making some of my charr/norns so big for this reason).

I had this discussion with somebody in map chat a while ago whilst I was pro-kodan… they also mentioned how similar Norn/Kodan lore and starter areas might be. It was mainly the cosmetic aspect that swayed me though, considering this game is mainly cosmetic driven when it comes to gear.

Outfits vs armor skin sets

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Crimson Clouds.4853

Crimson Clouds.4853

There have been many threads that have already posed this question and the answer is this:

Outfits:
Advantages: Requires no use of transmutation charges. (This means that you can keep the same desired look throughout levelling as well as a fast way of changing your look without reskinning your armour).

Disadvantages: Outfits come as a whole and can’t be changed up. Why? They haven’t been designed as separate pieces and thus haven’t been tested with other armour pieces to refine any clipping issues. This kind of testing takes a lot of resources and time, so by removing this factor Anet can pump out a lot of different outfits a lot faster and gain more revenue by meeting a larger audience and their different fashion tastes.

Hypothetically speaking, if outfits could be used as individual armour piece skins, outfit purchases would be a little OP. Currently you can buy 6-piece armour skin sets (e.g. krytan, primeval) for a very similar price to an outfit- if outfits also became separate armour skins it would be a little unfair to the cost of armour skins (as comparitively you’d get double the usage for the same cost).

General consensus: outfits and armour fill different niches. The disadvantage of one is filled by the advantage of the other.

Personally, I doubt that outfits will ever be able to be separated. I think the best we can hope for is to use a non-outfit headpiece with an outfit (like in GW1) considering there is little chance of headpieces clipping with the rest of the armour.

4) I think the Character section under Lore could do with a little work- having some kind of organisation would be especially helpful considering there are many characters that deserve a spot in the book. Nobody wants to scroll through the whole list a few times just to find information about one character, right?

5) Another nit-picky thing is that although I understand why you put the “Buy Dungeon Runs” and AP requirement option in the Dungeon UI, I’m pretty sure that Anet would scrap this because of their general philosophy. From what I understand, Anet don’t support Dungeon Sellers or Elitism- by including something like this it would seem like they do support them. But hey, that’s just a slightly political/hypothetical view on it. I guess you created it because it’s something that you personally would like to see

6) I love the improved Guild panel! It’s exciting and inviting, it entices players to seek out other guildies for fun. This totally supports Anet’s ethos and looking at it I’m surprised they haven’t overhauled the Guild panel already to something similar to what you created. What a simple way to improve communication and co-operation! It would be nice to be able to have a similar panel for the Friends panel too. An addition to this guild panel could be a “sticky” feature where you could pin your closer/favourite guildies to the top so in larger guilds they wouldn’t be lost in the crowd. It’d be cool for higher ranked guild members to be closer to the top of the list as well.

7) I’m not a massive fan on your hero panel overhaul. Just personal preference- I find it a little too cluttered. I don’t feel like I could quickly navigate it all, but perhaps that’s just because it’s all new. My only reasonable complaint is how the equipped gear is aligned in columns- at first this gave me the notion that there were two different armour sets available to swap between. I also feel that the current trinket layout is very sensical in the positioning of rings, amulets and accessories. It also makes sense for the aquabreather to be close to the aquatic weapons.

Finally… If all of your changes were implemented tomorrow, I’d be thrilled! As most people have already said, THEY NEED TO HIRE YOU- you have some astonishing ideas! An overhaul like this keeps the game fresh in a good way. This is the kind of feature-patch material we’ve been dreaming of.

Thanks for posting- the effort and passion put into this was phenomenal. I love it

I've redesigned the UI & the official website

Ok- considering there was a lot to read I didn’t read many comments other people have posted, so I’m sorry if I come off repetative!

1) I love the amount of work you put into this. The information regarding the topic is well laid out and great to read. The UI designs themselves are excellent and very professional looking!

2) The improved aesthetics and UI overall are really easy on the eyes and intriguing. There’s something about it that makes me squeal in excitement. I would love it in-game, I’d want to click ALL the buttons and investigate. So many shiny things to explore and enjoy.

3) One of my primary concerns would be regarding loading times/lag etc. I want to justify the bland UI design on Anet trying to make it simple, stream-lined and as lag-free as they can make it. Surely the increased amount of visuals (amongst other things) could impact the experience considerably for people with slower computers. I think you should consider usability- how would you overcome these problems? Would the new UI adjust with the in-game graphic settings? What would the UI look like on Best Performance opposed to Best Appearance?

3) I love the lore book idea! I recently posted on somebody who brought up the idea and I feel like the game needs it. It’s juicy for the veterans and helpful for the newbies. It would be wonderful to “collect lore” as a player goes along, fleshing out the lore book and going far afield, away from the traditional story, to discover even more tidbits. I really like how you’ve included a variety of information. It would be awesome to see multimedia clips/short montages, shorter facts (as a contrast to the lengthy paragraphs). Enemy skills and tactics to fight them would also be pretty neat. I think the lore book would be an interesting way to provide a little “guide/walkthrough/support” material to players without them having to use external resources.

cumulative damage causing confusion

Artemis is totally correct.

I’ve seen the cumulative damage counter many a time. I know how it works and I realise other people get confused over it. Heck- I used to think wrongly as well until I played something with a number 1 skill that hits multiple times per cast.

Here’s a quick explanation:
- I was on my tank engi in battle of khylo (pvp) just spamming 1 to slowly kill the enemy treb.
-The bar was going down steadily and evenly. (Let’s say for arguments sake that I was doing 1000 dmg each flamethrower hit)
-It counts up to 125k damage or more eventually on the counter, but the treb’s health bar is still moving evenly.
- If I was doing increasingly more damage each time I hit the treb, the health bar of the treb would decrease exponentially (increasingly faster).

If you don’t believe me, try for yourself with a number 1 skill that hits multiple times per cast (e.g. mesmer greatsword, engi flamethrower).

New Hair Colors and Eyebrow Colors

Hopefully this is something they have just overlooked and will sort out.

After all, if memory serves me correctly, male characters with facial hair get their beards dyed the same colour as their hair. It can’t be too much of a stretch to apply the same mechanics to eyebrows.

I hope the Land Spear/Polearm use same skin

If they do that odds are they will use the same skills from underwater but on land.

I don’t understand how you jumped to that conclusion.

I’m no programmer, but I would assume that it is entirely possible without much difficulty for the devs to sort something out, considering your skill bar automatically switches to underwater skills if you go beneath the surface/come out of the water anyway.

The weapons would just be programmed to have one skill set above water when equipped in a normal weapon slot or a different skill set when equipped in the aquatic weapons slot and when below water.

Post a pic of your character only if your armor is mix-n-match

I have been toying with mixed armour sets for a while but could never find a mix that I really liked- I wanted light armour that covered her legs without being flowy and robe-like. A couple of days ago I managed to put this together in a few minutes. It was like a miracle.

-Seer Mask
-Mantle of the Lich
-Aurora Garb
-Heritage Gloves
-Cabalist Legs
-Feathered boots

I personally like the synergy between the wings on the shoulders and wing design on the breast of the chest-piece and boots. There’s also synergy between the tassle-like fabric on the back of the skirt and back of the shoulders.

[Suggestion] To armor design artists:

I had a very strange thought and maybe it’s blindingly obvious:

Perhaps the reason why there is “a lot of the same” armour easily available in-game is so that they can release exciting and different armour in the gem-store for a premium? It’s a subtle and easy way to incentivise players to use the gemstore who wouldn’t necessarily otherwise.

When I think about it, the only decent medium armours are available in gemstore only. Krytan and Striders- both are very different to the standard trench-coat. Magitech is much more ornate than what you’d find in-game.

My opinion on the OP: Yes, I would absolutely love new, exciting and different armours. It’s great to see new styles. I’d love to see these new armours available through normal drops/crafting than gemstore only.

[Suggestion] Add More Hair Matching Dyes

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Crimson Clouds.4853

Crimson Clouds.4853

This would be fantastic- I have a purple-haired mesmer, and despite the huge amount of purple dyes, the only one I have found is a little on the grey-side.

However… different armour/armour textures/armour materials dye differently. The saturation and hue of a dye isn’t identical across different armour sets or even dye regions.

Subsequently, this means that even if they did add a dye specific to a hair colour, it wouldn’t necessarily be identical to the hair colour or dye swatch. This would be a major problem and require a lot of work to resolve.

[Suggestion] Bring Back Lore Books

Crimson Clouds.4853

I’d love this! It would be a nice bit of extra content- It’d be fun to run around and try to complete the book. I enjoyed reading the GW1 story/dungeon books- they added some nice flavour and depth.

I think it would be pretty neat for it to be very detailed, e.g. a few pages for each enemy. It would become more complete depending on how many of that particular enemy you have killed, or how many kinds of that enemy race you have killed (depending on their profession/skill set etc. E.g. Bandits have Bandit Cutpurse, Bandit Brawler, Bandit Cannoneer)

It would be nice for it to appear like a hand-written research journal- a leatherbound book with blotchy tea-stained pages. It would be lovely if it contained interesting lore, concept art, perhaps even sound clips from interesting/funny conversations.

Heart of Thorns Wish List:

I’m writing a wishlist of what I’d like to see in the next feature patch or expansion- a lot of my wishes are about polishing the game and improving player experience.

1) More “difficult” world boss encounters like Teq and Tri-Wurm
2) Increased skill/weapon flexibility. It would be great for each weapon to have two sets of skills. When it comes down to it, I don’t mind too much if there’s more choice!
3) Improve the current state of armour clipping issues (and hair/beard clipping). This would require a lot of work and a massive overhaul of all armour pieces.
4) Allow us to show a non-outfit headpiece whilst wearing an outfit!
5) I’d love to see a new race and two new classes.
6) A new zone with at least 5 new maps, diverse enemies and a really different “feel” landscape and environment-wise from what we have already. I’d love for there to be new lore and new intelligent creatures to learn about.
7) New mini-games/activities. I’m not massively keen on SAB, but it would be nice for it to be a permanent feature in-game.
8) More Dungeons and Fractals. Generally more endgame.
9) Scavenger hunt for new Legendaries… I have a feeling this might actually happen considering how they mentioned it (I don’t think it was scrapped, just postponed until the expansion)
10) New craftables- lots more variety when it comes to skins. It would be nice to see 500 crafting for Jeweller and Chef.

[Suggestion] Make Charr stand upright

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Crimson Clouds.4853

Crimson Clouds.4853

I seem to remember in GW1 charr were more upright, or at least the level of upright/hunch depended on what profession they were.

It’d be lovely to see charr stand fully upright with their shoulders back and head and neck up. I think the only way we’d ever see this was if the idle animation was changed. It makes sense for them to run all fours and battle stooped low and aggressively, so IMO it would be a shame to lose out on this. A fully-standing idle position would be excellent for fully showing off armour and weapons as well on a charr… I think it would be an excellent addition and a resonable compromise.

[Suggestion] Having a childhood

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Crimson Clouds.4853

I think people will find it disturbing to look at dying kids

This, it would cause a lot of PR issues, and even some legal issues in some areas of the world.

Although I somewhat agree, NCsoft have already made at least one game where you can make a child-like character. In Aion you can do this: you can make your character short in stature and proportioned like a child, with a child-like face and even wih a child-like voice and phrases.

I’m not sure what the PR response was like for this, but I’d assume it was neutral at worst considering you can still create a child character.

As it goes, you can kinda already make child-like characters in GW2. Human character creation has a load of soft-featured, round, child-like faces along with more child/teen-like body choices. The only thing that would ruin the immersion for me is that this “child-character” would still have an adult voice… which is a little disturbing :P

I certainly wouldn’t mind more customisability in the game. I’d hope that they would add new faces and body styles for all races. It’d be good to see more diversity and I’d hope that if they added the option to make your character look younger, they’d also add something to make your character look more elderly. I’d also hope that with the increased customisability there would be a choice of character voices as well in order to better suit your choices.

Sigil of the night!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Crimson Clouds.4853

Crimson Clouds.4853

As far as I’m aware it’s one of the most (if not THE most) powerful sigil there is when it comes to increased damage output. Comparatively, Superior Sigil of Force is only a +5% damage boost.

It’s a flat out +10% outgoing damage for a lot of dungeons and thus a lot of different foes. This makes it more powerful than e.g. Superior Sigil of Ghost slaying- (Superior Sigil of Ghost slaying is only really beneficial in AC, so you’d lose out on that extra damage potential in other dungeons/fractals).

Many of dungeons/fractals (especially more popular dungeons) take place during nighttime.

Having a weapon set with Night sigils on them and a second weapon set to use during daylight is much more convenient and cheaper than having a weapon set for every single “Superior Sigil of _ Slaying”.

Snip

heh yea i get people that have different opinions to me im fine with them heh
i have no problem being wrong or seeing someone who disagrees with me
however recently alot of posts seem to be more attacking the company and other people that post than actually adding anything relevent to the conversation
and then there are the ones that just dont stop posting the same topic multiple times(making the problem potentialy seem bigger than it is)
and it kind of skews what seems important to people
i mean i see a bunch of diffferent topics by different people but then there are some that are repeated over and over again by the same person

1) Some people don’t care about what other people think and feel, but feel that they need to broadcast their opinion all over the place and repeatedly to feel heard.

2) Not everybody is perfectly sane. A lot of people think irrationally. What you’re trying to do is rationalise the irrational, or you’re assuming that everybody is a rational thinker (which is probably what you’re used to).

3) There are a lot of trolls. Many are obvious, a few aren’t. These few will come across with ludicrous accusations/claims/conspiracies that are well rehearsed and have clever and well-thought out explanations. It’s easy for a troll to get fast responses by posting something like “We need mounts!”- people are so frustrated by these repeated topics now that they’ll jump straight in and post something angry with the deadhorse.gif . Trolls relish the attention and tension.

4) A lot of people come to the forums to complain about things if they believe that it may improve their situation. Very few players are going to step into the forum for their first time to congratulate (sincerely) on a development choice.

5) People like to complain. It’s often easier to complain about something than it is to praise it. Often people complain about something because its easy to find somebody who has a similar outlook on the particular topic or a similar one.

Welcome to the internet.

good point actually heh
still tho it dosnt have to be this way right?

Yes, it does. No matter how irrational, nonsensical, or downright self-contradictory an opinion someone might hold, someone else shares it. The internet allows all of these precious little snowflakes to find each other and roll up into a big ball of “justification for wholesale misanthropy”, which then bashes itself to bits against the other snowball that feels the opposite way.

A perfect analogy. Somebody is much less likely to have their opinion “converted” if they have already found like-minded people. “Multiple people can’t be wrong”.
