I’ve had similar problems with the physics engine, scripting in Second Life. The solution there was to thicken the mesh involved.
From occasional camera glitches, GW2 mesh appears to be one sided, a single plane. That makes it hard for the engine to catch collisions.
All 3d meshes are made up of single planes. There is no such thing as volume in 3d.

For the millionth time, it’s already confirmed that you can’t have two elite specs in the same build. The entire reason elite specs are restricted to your #3 spec slot is specifically so you can’t take two elite specs.

The main players in 5 vs 5 teams typically are necros and mesmers who play mostly condi.
If you look at 5s teams, the main players are Thief, Mesmer, and Ele, because those are the only 3 classes that have 100% representation in 5s. Many of the EU teams have dropped necromancer from their lineup. NA still uses necromancer almost constantly, but NA has always been known to be necromancer heavy.
Also necro is taken in 5s for it’s boonrip and down cleave. If power necro offered the same amount of boonrip as condi necro, teams would be running power necro over condi necro since power necro has better survivability and is more flexible.

Of the nine classes in the game, thief is easily the class that dies the least, because it’s mobility and get-out-of-jail-free cards allow it to disengage any fight it’s not winning.

Of course it has a ICD, if it didn’t it would cause you to apply burn at a 1:1 ratio with torment. In other words scepter 3 would be applying 7 stacks of torment, and 7 stacks of burn which would be so busted overpowered.
The burn on torment trait in it’s current form adds reasonable dps to the spec without being insane.

Yeah, don’t make it sound like Legendary is some prestigious thing. Or like Bronze is terrible. The skill floor between these is probably quite small.
I’m sorry but the skill gap between Bronze and Legend is enormous. Players just never realize this because the matchmaker keeps them in a bubble.
I’m in plat and have played against legend players on several occasions. I’ve also taken 5-stacks of new players into unranked to teach them. I’ve seen the full range of skill in this game, and the skill difference is massive.

I doubt you’ll find a good necro with PoF footage. The people in the current demo version seem to just be the ArenaNet partners, which are primarily people like WP.

Tether has 12s CD so it will probably connect on every second/third burst. If it proves to be too overpowered either the leash range or cooldown can be increased.
It generally looks like a big, middle finger to Thief and Daredevil.
A better change would be it only pulls once then expires. This is a passive trait, it shouldn’t offer more CC than every other CC on the class put together.

Mageblade Tether looks so broken OP. Just think you tether someone, then use greatsword to zoom halfway across the map, and that poor soul is going to be yanked after you the entire way.
Not to mention mageblad tether is probably going to result in people getting stuck in walls literally every match.

1) Some of the elite specs will be come meta, and people will whine about power creep.
2) Some of the elite specs (looking at you scourge and deadeye) will not be meta over the old elites and those classes will whine about the expansion being pointless.

Pulmunory Impact wont be much of a concern for probably the first month, since all the thieves will be using Deadeye, but yeah, same deal.
I’m pretty sure deadeye will be just as brutal to scourge. Even with Deadeye’s reduce mobility compared to daredevil, it will still be able to run necros in circles while being able to rain 2k range damage on us.
Honestly deadeye will probably be harder for necros to deal with than daredevil.

This is false.
WP claimed reaper was going full power because he believed that Deathly Chill was nerfed.
However it wasn’t nerfed. WP was ignorant of the fact that Deathly Chill has always been 1 stack in sPvP, and that Heart of the Mists (the area that he was previewing in) uses the sPvP version of the trait.
From what was shown in WP’s video there have been no changes made to reaper.

As a duelist maybe, however it’s total glass. The barrier mechanic is weaker for personal survivability compared to shroud. We are going to be even more vulnerable to being tunneled.
Basically it’s going to be glass boonhate cannon for us.

I’ve seen at least one core ele in platinum, he was running a s/f FA ele with a mender’s amulet, and was utilizing the build as a 1v1 point holding build much in the same way scrapper engi is utilized. The guy I duo’ed with reverse engineered the build after the match and found it to be extremely effective.

I’ve seen at least one double d/p duo in plat that focused on deathballing people the entire match. It worked too.
Double thief certainly isn’t optimal, but it’s no worse than double anything else.
Also the premise of this thread is quite ironic, considering that thieves are probably the most prolific trash talkers in the game.

The argument I’m only applies to pve scenarios, pvp scenarios are a different thing, and those self condi are more harmful than it would be in pve.
Corruption trait line is straight up suicide in PvP.. If they do something about the self harm on self then that might become a viable option. I would love to use it in PVP since the damage from that trait line is about the best damage option a Necro has. But maybe all that boon corrupt + condi bombs from Corruption skills would be considered OP?
Taking 3 seconds off of corrupt boon is never going to be OP.

Not really. Drastic changes only occur around balance patches, but there are often shifts in the meta between them. Guardian and Necromancer in particular see a lot of shifts.
Examples of meta shifts that where unrelated to patches:
-the rise of LB druid in s5-s6
-the sudden appearance of power necro in s5.
-the perpetual popularity war between symbolic guard, meditrapper, and burn guard.
Also meta is largely caused by perception. For example power necros where almost never seen and generally considered trash up until Nos started streaming himself playing power necro in s5, and then suddenly 3/4ths of the necros you encountered where power.

I will elaborate on my original post, I don’t mind thieves having a viable condi spec, but my issue is with how easy damage application is for condi thief vs how difficult applying damage to a condi thief is.
Due to the natural stickiness of thieves combined with the insane number of cover condis available to condi thief, results in condi thief having both strong pressure that is extremely easy to apply, while the same time the enormous evade uptime that thief has makes applying damage to a condi thief extremely difficult.

We’ve tried to fix this via map art changes a few times, but people seem to just find another way in. I’m just going to add kill planes to the bases on Kyhlo.
Can you also make players in spawn invulnerable? There have been problems with certain classes using ranged AoE on the spawn at start to put people in combat so that they can’t change builds or worse get them stuck with a half-selected build.

The PC character quit their position in the Pact and by extension their position in their chosen order.
The PC is no longer bound by their order and could join a new order at their discretion.
As for the Charr, the Charr PC was transferred out of the legions when they joined the order, thus nullifying that connection.

When I did the self doubt fight I didn’t realize you could interact with Eir & co, and I determined the claws to be undodgeable.
I just facetanked the self doubt and killed the boss anyways, took a lot of kiting tho.

A thief running a realistic condi build will be applying 5 condis when they dodge due to the combination of lotus training, and procs.

Again the OP has stated in multiple threads now that Thief Dodge alone provides 5 Unique Condis, JS, #witchhuntisstrong
Most thieves that I have encountered run vuln sigil which has a trivial enough ICD as to make almost every dodge apply 5 condis.
Also 8 condi is entirely within condi thief’s capabilities.

applying 4-5 unique condis with almost every dodge roll and can do spikes with upwards of 8 unique condis being applied at time. It’s as if the thief has a permanent plaguelands at his location.
I would like to see lotus training be changed so that it no longer applies 3 unique condis baseline.
And before the “but condi thief isn’t even as good as d/p” starts, I will point out that condi thief is strong enough to be meta, it’s just overshadowed by d/p. But at least d/p has a skill requirement to it while condi thief is easier to learn than warrior is.

No PvP build should be using master of corruption. With that trait you’re giving the enemy 2 free cover conditions every time you use a corruption skill. Never mind the fact that those self-condis can be pretty brutal in their own right.

You’re talking to a wall. The only thing humans focus on is problems, no matter how trivial those problems are, or how well off the person already is.
No matter how hard the devs try, players will always find something to complain about. And this is a good thing. The fact that players are never content is what drives all the improvement in game design that the industry has seen over the years. In a game with submachine guns, assault rifles, grenades, flamethrowers, etc…a bent stick with a string attached and a pointed stick projectile seem thematically off.
To be fair it wasn’t until the 1800s that guns actually got better than longbows.
The reason bows where dropped for guns is because wielding a longbow requires years of training to master, while a man can be trained to use a gun in a day.

You do realize that machine learning is still a highly experimental field? Developing a machine learning matchmaker would require both a research team and many years.
Also you should probably do some research of your own. Glicko is hardly new to the world of team games, and there has been much research done on the effectiveness of various matchmaker algos in team games. Honestly my own research tends to indicate that ArenaNet’s setup is sound, however it’s plausible that there could be bugs.

And every one of those balance patches included sweeping nerfs to every other class. Thief got slapped in the wrist in the previous balance patches, while at the same time everyone else got gutted. And lets not even go into how much thieves have profited from the introduction of sigil of absorption.
Every single balance patch in the past year has put thief in a stronger meta position. Thief has the highest leaderboard representation of any class, with only guards and scrapper even coming close, and those two classes only because they are the only two classes that can survive a thief. We are at a point where double thief is common in platinum.

Carrion is not a hybrid. You’ll be doing the majority of your damage in condi damage.
Moreover it’s not even about stats, it’s about build, and there is no way to make a build that does equal power/condi that is actually effective at killing people.
