If they unbound it from you then you would still have it in your skins and would have 2 different legendary skins with no effort at all.
Haha, I think it’s a cool idea.but with all the AI clutter there already is in WvW and sPvP I would not like them around. If you take them out of competitive Pop game modes I would be fine with it.
But honestly I would much rather have the devs working on the reward system overhaul, new PvP game modes and maps, new WvW features, new commander features, more legendaries, more dungeons, more endgame permanent content, better balance, more weapons, more skills and traits, and a lot of other major content this game needs before we add in moa pets :p
I wouldn’t go as far to say that the reason i didn’t reset my traits that much isn’t because of the fact I had to go to a trait vendor. It definitely was the main reason and I’ll be changing my traits all the time now. But trait templates would be really great as well and a further improvement.
I completely agree with what you’re saying and have understood it that way as well. I truly hope that the reward system overhaul they have been talking about focuses on making specific rewarding items achievable realistically in a way through playing content in the game rather than purchasing through gold showing that the company does care about the quality of the game rather than solely the revenue the game gives them.
I would much rather pay for the game through expansions or a subscription so that the company would focus more on the content within the game rather than what they can put in the game to improve gemstore sales. We all know that subscription based games are dying and the model hasn’t proved a successful one anymore so boxed sales and expansions seems the way to go. I definitely don’t think it’s too late to do this as the game is still a very new MMO being not even 2 years old.
I loved the video you linked about the past CEO of EA btw. It was a good watch.
I really wish game companies would choose the light side of the force and choose the gamer community over their own pockets. Even Ever quest Next that I have been highly anticipating concerns me since they are going the free to play model and could turn out to be another in game store focused game rather than the latter and could potentially ruin the long term game for that as well.
All you can do is hope.
Btw, sorry for bringing up a month old thread, I just saw you link it in another post and felt like bringing it to the light again.
Usually people save the best for last so let’s see what the blogs in April say before coming to rash conclusions. I’m hoping for the reward system overhaul but data mined info says that might not be true. We shall see.
Btw, I’ve read up on what this error means and it means that the data was corrupted on your hard drive. What they suggest is that you try running your manufacturer’s diagnostic utility on your hard-drive to confirm that it’s in good condition. Otherwise you might need to replace your hard drive.
Posting in the wrong subforum buddy
the man is desperate
He should post in the thread for tickets not being resolved I’m sure CC will get right on it
I would be doing the same thing he’s doing if I hadn’t been answered in over a week having tried contacting in every possible way as well as fixing in every possible way that he knows as well.
Cheese is when you have an extremely low skill ceiling with really high results. Such as hambow warrior or warriors in general. Or something like MM necro that is extremely passive yet extremely effective. I mean most, if not all, the meta builds currently are like this. (Hambow, S/P Thief, Decap Engi, Spirit Ranger, MM Necro, etc.)
Classes should be balanced like the Ele, which has a high skill ceiling to be effective.
I hope that the UNID’s price goes down after this patch with the amount that are going to be sold because I will then be buying them like crazy :p
Thief is good at every game mode lol. PvE=damage. Every class is essentially viable for PvP although Rangers probably have it the worst. PvP=Thief is part of the meta. Its pretty much required to have one thief on a team in high end tPvP. Then WvW=roaming and scouting although I wouldn’t say scouting is a great role at all and you don’t get good loot in zergs. But let’s be honest, the only classes that don’t belong in all game types are mainly Else’s and Rangers although Else’s a getting a little bit of love this patch and might make it into the PvP meta but who knows.
wwwwwwwwwwwwow. u have no idea aboutthis game. are you talking gw1? i think youlogged into gw2 by accident :P
I really hope your joking. Anybody, literally anybody can do PvE no matter the class. I have more hours on my thief than any other class and I never had any problem whatsoever with PvE content being high level fractals, LS events, dungeons, anything. They are actually really good at it because PvE is all about bursting down the boss as fast as possible and their attack animations are the most predictable attacks so you can just dodge whenever. Not to mention Thieves can skip through almost all the dungeon and help is teammates do that as well through SR or blasting combo fields.
Then we come to PvP where Thief is part of the meta. Almost every tPvP team will have a thief on their team for far point recap because of their mobility and the fact that they are great for 1v1 and they can jump into team fights and burst someone down that is at half health and then jump back out. Can a different class fill this role? Yes but nearly as good thus thief is usually the main choice.
Finally we come to WvW where thief is the #1 roaming class there is and I personally prefer roaming over zerging as its more fun imo. Thief is also great at scouting. The only thing a thief is t that great at is commanding and getting bags while zerging although what I usually do is spam cluster bomb to get my bags.
Please, if you are going to say I’m wrong support it with a counter argument. What I do agree on is that Thief is designed poorly and thus gets extremely repetitive and I wish Anet had designed it differently as thief/rogue/assassin has always been my go to class when it came to mmo’s because I love the stealthy burst playstyle but in this game there is no diversity with the play style with thief. It makes me sad.
Forgive me for bringing up a half month old topic but I’m sincerely hoping that the commander tag CDI that was brought up in this thread will have a lot of the ideas imemented in this patch. Its been over 3 months since the CDI and not to mention these things have been being asked since the game started as you can see a thread that was brought back to the living in the WvW section. Btw, did the second part of that CDI for commander tags mentioned on the last post that was supposed to be about “progression” ever get opened? I would love to take a look at it.

It will also make it so people won’t need multiple legendaries of the same kind for different alts so demand will go down because of that. That also means supply will go up for precursors seeing as you only need one to have it on all characters so the price could drop as well.
you will still need the real precursor, like transmuted precursors right now, those wont work for legendary crafting.
Of course. I’m saying that you will only need one real precursor if you want multiples of the same legendary since you can create duplicates after the wardrobe change. So more people will be selling precursors that they don’t need and less people will be purchasing them because they won’t need them if they have already created that legendary. That is if they don’t care about stats and only about look which is most likely the reason. Thus, supply will go up and demand will go down and so the price will go down.
I think you’re definitely talking about a legitimate effect. Though, I believe the effect of legendary weapons being more desirable due to use across multiple characters and multiple games modes will have a larger impact on demand.
This is all totally speculative at best!
Oh, I definitely agree that will have a big impact as well. BUT it is limited. Once the dust has settled and people have gotten their legendaries and such the price will go down imo regarding what I said. There will be a big “go get your legendary so you can have multiple skin” thing in the beginning, and then after awhile it will settle and the price will probably drop dramatically since there will be very little demand for them. But like you said, it’s all speculation.
I’m sorry but I have no memory of which specific thread it was, only that I saw it and read the devs responses. I can assure you that I did read it though.

Definitely not gonna change to the worse. The only thing that might be upsetting is the possible change to the PvP locker but we don’t know for sure on that yet. BUT, what there is to look forward to.
- New game mode and map (Team DeathMatch) starting on the feature patch, April 15th
- New rewards system to actually have progression in PvP starting on the feature patch, April 15th
- PvE skins can be used in PvP and PvP skins can be used in PvE so you can show off your legendaries and such, starting on the feature patch, April 15th
- New ladder system to replace the horrible matchmaking currently, maybe but probably not on the feature patch
- Gold is going to be the new game wide currency instead of glory and maybe another currency or token system, not sure
These are all great changes coming to PvP to make it a lot healthier and a lot more fun. Personally I’m really excited to see how the progression is going to work after this patch because the progression previously was horrible with random chests that gave you the same thing after every win and random rng chests every 10 levels. Hopefully it’s something great. Not to mention the new game mode that I will be playing heavily and will probably be used a lot for tournaments in custom arenas for 2v2/3v3’s.
If you are wondering about what’s all in the new upcoming feature patch on the 15th of April, click this link >>> https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/feature-packs/
The reason Anet has been keeping hush hush about things like this is because of the player base. I don’t know how many threads I’ve read about people saying Anet doesn’t keep their promises and so they’re untrustworthy and this and that. Then you see threads saying the reason the game is dying (its not) is because Anet doesn’t tell us anything by the same kitten people lawl. Hell I’ve seen both of these in the same post plenty of times. The community has already ruined any hopes for Anet to release future features imo. People have to understand that this is a company with deadlines and a budget and priorities and some things just won’t make it into the game. Its too bad.
I know that legendaries aren’t coming this patch, neither the precursor crafting. A thread came up about new legendaries about a week or so ago and one of the devs responded saying that they were working on them or something along that matter which pretty much guarantees that they aren’t in this patch. Same goes with precursor crafting. They said in a recent thread that their ideas have changed regarding precursor crafting and instead they are reworking on how the rewards are going to happen in the game which would be starting this patch. So no precursor crafting but possibly a better way to achieve them.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Transmutation_Crystal
I’m assuming they will be acquired through the same methods.
With out spending gems the only way is daily reward which you have a 0.26% chance… Sorry that doesn’t cut it. Only other way looks like map completion and you get 3 of the stones which will convert to 1 charge. Still should be other ways.
What about people that only pvp or wvw. This doesn’t help them out at all.
I have little sympathy because people who only play 1/4 of the game to begin with, shouldn’t be up-in-arms over cosmetics. If anything, this gives them incentives to step foot in some other regions once in a while. They got by up until now with the acquisition methods of stones and crystals….they can continue to get by.
I don’t know about you but I consider spvp 1/3 wvw 1/3 and pve 1/3 of the game so excluding 2/3 of the people from the game you have no sympathy for?
Also since to me it sounds like you don’t pvp did you know that they have had a pvp skin locker which is very similar to the one were are getting that is going to unify them? The pvp skin locker it was free to check in/out skins so we never had to rely on these so called transmutation stones/crystals and now charges.
Are you that ignorant that you would blatantly say screw you pvp crowd? Wow man please understand where some of us come from. I have 1000+ hours in the game and play all the 3 parts but some people like my brother only do say 2 of the 3 so you would kick him to curb???
You are obviously misunderstanding the whole system….. Ugh. I play pvp too, and quite a bit. In the old system it was storage of items. 1 item could be stored that you can “check out”. This system doesn’t turn all items into skins that you have to pay for. If you have the item you still have the item in the same way you do now. You have just been given the ability to “duplicate” the look of that item onto something else. You have lost nothing in this new system. They aren’t destroying your current items, or only dropping skins in the future.
Please read and understand the blog post before you freak out.
Dude please stay on topic. This post is about how to acquire transmutation charges. I know perfectly well what the blog post talked about and how both new wardrobe and pvp lockers work. Maybe you should have been the one to read my post in the first place before you go off on some tangent.
No no, you were in the wrong Arisal. Get over it and move on. There is no ‘winning’ over the internet.
Even if the PvP locker merges with the PvE, which they made no actual mention of, then so be it. PvP only people shouldn’t be able to switch their looks on a whim if the other’s can’t.
Alright.
1. I understand what you’re saying and he is overreacting a bit much and getting way too defensive.
But
2. It would change something in the PvP if skins weren’t still account bound in the PvP locker allowing you to deposit a skin and put it on someone else if you already have it and would be aggravating if that were done since for the past 1.5 years its been that way. Now if it were only charging to duplicate the the skin that’s understandable and would be true to what you’re saying that its not taking anything away and is only a really nice addition.
I was pretty excited at first.
Then I re-read the blog post.
Then I read it a third time for clarification. Then I read some posts that pointed out things I didn’t initially think of.
Then I spent some time thinking about how this change affects me and the people I play with.
I realized it changes nothing. The cost is still per use. Nothing changed except the user interface and some phrasing. People are going to use the same amount of ‘pay to make a change’ transmutation charges that they did for ‘pay to make a change’ transmutation crystals.
Pay per use is pay per use no matter the UI. This only really helps some people free up some bank space.
I believe I would feel differently if it were a pay to unlock and usage was free system.
Actually its a major change, not only to the UI but to your time and money as well. You don’t have to go out and spend months getting a second bolt anymore if you just want it for looks. You can simply use a trasmuted charge and get a second bolt in a couple seconds. That’s a huge change if you haven’t been reading the forums about people who made a second one complaining about it.
I mean, as long as the skins I’ve already unlocked are free to use infinite times like they already are I’m fine with the new system but if they lock all my skins I’ve unlocked behind a wall that I have to pay cash to get them back I’ll probably be pretty aggravated.
Expect to use the transmutation charges. We’re paying to use these skins in ALL areas of the game (whether you want to or not), and not just pvp. There’s pros and cons, I’m ok with it — we make enough gold in PvP now to not have it hurt us too much anyway.
You really think they would charge us for all the skins we’ve already unlocked? Wouldn’t make sense when the devs were saying to unlock as many skins as possible before the patch. I mean every single time I put a new piece on a character in PvP I will get charged? That’s ridiculous.
It will also make it so people won’t need multiple legendaries of the same kind for different alts so demand will go down because of that. That also means supply will go up for precursors seeing as you only need one to have it on all characters so the price could drop as well.

Just wait a week. It will be back to normal if not lower since people will only want one now if they don’t care about the stats and thus there will be less demand for them and more supply making the price drop.
I really hope they don’t charge us while in sPvP to change skins or use different ones on different characters. This hopefully will only be a PvE thing.
If You Can buy one legendary and have the skin on All weapons of the same type… Horrible idea. I quit if that happens. If This is only possible With skins bought from the gemstore then its ok.
Bye bye
I hope they are a bit (cheaper) but who knows.
Parenthesis cause it put the word kitten there in between my 2 words, lawl
Oh God, another one of these threads starting. You get the legendary stats. Other people who just made one, just get the look on their second or third. But YOU get interchangeable precursor stats. Please…..
Ya, might wanna finish reading before you make assumptions
He’s talking about the full patch notes. Not a notification linking you to the forums. Tbh, I think its a good idea because it brings more of the player base to the actual forums. Otherwise I think there would be a lot less people here contributing.
Would make gear cost even more and is kinda pointless regarding stats except for personal looks and might be a bit much in general.
your example is poor, dhummfire and incendiary powder can be avoided by condition immunity too, but these are OP traits.
Your example is poor. You compare a condition on classes that have INSANE burst access to conditions. Remove both of them traits and they would still be fine due to the fact they have just so much access to conditions. While the Burning is doing good damage, the Burning itself is no threat what so ever. Its all the other conditions that are given as well.
Hell i have played condition builds on both of them classes and havent needed to take either trait. Because they are just another condition. Nothing more. When you have insane access to poison, Confusion, Cripple, Bleeding and such Burning isn’t needed. While the damage is nice it isn’t a requirement to do well with either class.
Where as 1 blind with a 5second cool down as a Grandmaster trait is rather meh. Like i said, i would rather have a trait that boosts Burning. An increase in Damage would be very welcome. We already have the trait for increased duration though on D/D it isnt needed what so ever.
Seems pretty hypocritical. Burning can be removed via cleanse as well. We’ve been screaming for more survivability, not more damage. An added condition is better when you talk about cleansing than a stronger burn because if they remove a condition via cleanse you still get to keep one being either damage or survivability rather than none.
Tell me, what does Blind do? Oh yeah, it makes an attack miss. As in, not hit you. Which means you don’t have to hope to survive it. Blinding Ashes is very much a survivability trait.
Huh? That’s what I was saying lol.
And @arm, yes that’s the one real thing I’m concerned on. Is controlling it to hit your target and not all the minions/phantasms/clones/pets. We shall see. Otherwise I think its great.

I think the solution Nike posed in his thread was a great idea. Allow Elementalists to be able to equip a second weapon but only switch to it while out of combat. This goes for engineers as well I suppose. This would help Ele’s and Engineer’s in 2 ways. First being the on kill sigils. It would make them viable just like any other class. And second, they/we wouldn’t have to open up inventory to change our weapons every time we’re out of combat and wish to use a different weapon for a different situation.
I think people are underestimating the trait as well as overestimating thieves. There is no reason a thief will wait it out while you’re sitting in Earth because the best time to pop Earth is when you see them go into stealth (D/D and D/P). If they choose to wait they will run out of stealth waisting it. There’s no reason for that, they will still attack you since back stab has no initiative cost and it will save you from crit. The only other attacks they have to use is auto attack which isn’t enough. I don’t see why people are thinking thieves will kill us when we are earth attuned or wait it out when they only have auto attack besides back stab.
Then you have pistol whip thieves (S/P) which will he just as easy to block since pistol whip has a decent animation time once you get immobilized from teleport so you can either break free and get out of there or if you have no condi cleanse left you can switch to earth before they start doing damage with the pistol whip attack. We will have multiple defenses instead of just condi cleanses to get out of the thieves spam.
I can’t wait to use the trait personally and see how well it truly works.
ALSO, to the op. I believe you are quite wrong when it comes to the ability being OP as it requires skillful active play. It is not like diamond skin where it is passively active the whole time. You must time the use of it by switching to earth attunement. People are overreacting and under reacting in my opinion.
It seems like this thread got hijacked :p but I think D/D Ele will be extremely more viable than it was before especially since the buffs they mentioned were specifically for Dagger main hand. I would look forward to switching over to Ele and you will have a lot more fun clicking 20 different skills than just one or two on thief.
Oh and, play Elementalist! Ele>Warrior. A lot more fun when you have 20 weapon skills instead of 5
One of the big questions is how you like to play games. As that will probably help you out with your main goal. Do you like to be competitive in games against other players to try and be the best? Or do you like to explore and interact with the world and specifically do content that you aren’t facing other players? Guild Wars 2 as well as pretty much every MMO out there are extremely goal oriented. There are 3 different game modes in this game and they are PvE (the open world/dungeons/fractals/world bosses), WvW (Open World PvP/PvE sieging and capturing other servers castles and keeps and such), and sPvP (Arena style Domination and soon to come Team Deathmatch).
One thing you should know is that gearing while leveling to 80 isn’t that important. And if you have a choice between different stats like on the personal story, always pick the stats that have power, precision, and crit damage. Why? Because while leveling the only thing you really need to worry about is killing mobs faster and those stats do that. The other stats that you can get don’t really make much of a difference while leveling. Also, don’t be spending your hard earned gold buying new gear every level. It’s not needed. Every 10 levels or so it would be wise to upgrade if you have gear that’s 10 levels lower, otherwise it’s not a big deal. You want to save your gold for when gear really matters, and that is at level 80.
This link here is a great guide to a lot of the things Guild Wars 2 has and gives some great starters tips as well as telling you how sPvP and WvW works and how to get there. http://intothemists.com/articles/general/new-players-introductory-guide-to-guild-wars-2/ Just scroll down past the Professions part.
The game really starts when you hit 80 because that is when you can participate in everything the game has to offer and also start being competitive in WvW. There is a lot of lingo attached to MMO’s that you probably won’t understand either and this link helps you understand some of it http://almarsguides.com/eq/gettingstarted/mmorpglingo.cfm
Note that some of that lingo does not go directly with this game but most of it does and I would take it all in or just look at it when you hear someone say something you don’t understand. I had that problem for a really long time when I first started getting into MMO’s.
Lastly when it comes to stats they are not a big deal while leveling. But once you reach 80 they are extremely important to know what you’re going for. Some of them are connected to others such as power, precision, and crit damage. I would go through all of them for you but my post is getting really long already. Message me in game! I love helping people out and will explain anything and everything that you ask and will give you suggestions on how to play the game.
Ya I wondered that. Oh well, meh
Chilled C&D = 5 initiative
1 initiative per 3 seconds
C&D CD = 5s x 3 = 15 seconds. This is actually good to point out. I think when people describe reducing initiative regeneration (myself included), they don’t consider the actual math behind it. I believe the intent is actually to reduce the amount of initiative regeneration such that it effectively works out to a 66% longer cooldown like other professions have. For instance, a 10 second cooldown should become a 16.6 second cooldown.
As such, the math that I believe should be used is that a chilled thief would regenerate 1 initiative every 1.66 seconds, rather than reducing the regeneration rate by 66% to 34%.
This effectively works out to approximately 0.6 initiative per second, and thus could be considered a 40% reduction in initiative regeneration rather than 66%.
Reworking your calculations, this creates the following:
Chilled C&D = 5 initiative
1 initiative per 1.66 seconds
C&D CD = 5s x 1.66 = 8.3 seconds.
I’m down with that.
Ele’s Do Not Lack Mobility
In fact: Ele’s are way Op atm.
Over-Excel/Extreme:
Bursts, Aoe’s> Meteor Shower> 8k-20k+, Mobilities, Heals,, Fire grab> 12k-20k+, Invincibility>Diamond Skin, Invisibility> Mist Form……..
Seriously,
what is wrong with this picture?
(and yes, this build is still viable till this day)
Lol, I really hope you’re joking. Showing a video of short clips with a guy fighting noobs getting hit by churning earth not even knowing what’s going on. We’re talking about semi decent players here. When semi decent players see RTL they dodge and put it on a 40 sec CD which also ruins the rest of that simple combo of updraft to burning speed since they dodged and aren’t in the same spot anymore. Not to mention you mentioned Diamond skin. I laughed out loud. Please stick to a thread where you know what you’re talking about instead of sticking you’re head into a thread saying that the most underpowered class is OP. Lawl.

I would settle for initiative to be reduced by 33% instead of 66% to make it fair. Otherwise elementalist’s need to be not effected by chill regarding attunement swaps.
Thief and Elementalist are faster and sacrifice less.
I’m sorry but elementalist’s are far less mobile than warriors. An elementalist can never catch a warrior who is running away or a can outrun a warrior coming after them.
This is regarding blinding ashes, the new fire grandmaster trait for Ele.
I’ve seen several Ele’s post these questions and I’m curious as well.
- Will the trait proc on minions/phantasms/clones/pets? If so, our fire skills such as the MH dagger are kind of chaotic when it comes to aiming. Such as drakes breath and burning speed and could potentially be wasted pretty easily if so. Especially on clones since it would just proc and they would blow up and dissapear anyways since they have such low health.
and
- Will this only proc on one target? If I were to use drakes breath and burn 2 foes will it only blind the first person that is hit? Cause like I said skills like drakes breath have a pretty wide radius. It would be nice if the blind would proc on the foe we are targetting if this is not the case.
Anyways, I understand if it doesn’t, I was just curious along with some other people. An official answer would be nice but discussion is welcome as well.
1. Earth is a Defensive Attunement. If being in a Defensive Attunement allows you to become an offensive threat at the same time, it’s what you call imbalanced. You are an Elementalist, not a Warrior. You can’t have the best of both worlds.
2. You switch to Earth Attunement when you predict an incoming burst. Think of Stone Heart as an Active Defense mechanism. This trait will reward skilled players who uses their skills and trait advantages selectively based on the situation instead of spamming all available skills.
3. Elementalists have been crying for more survivability for a year. Here they are; Blinding Ashes and Stone Heart. Blinding Ashes gives you a defensive mechanism while going into a full Offensive trait line. Stone Heart rewards skilled elementalists who actually predict their enemy’s moves and manage their attunements properly instead of spamming available skills.
From what I see it seems like people want an “easier” access to survivability that doesn’t require player skill at all.
I agree to an extent. Two things I think need to be addressed.
1. Other classes need to be brought in line like the elementalist. Right now I think Ele are pretty much completely balanced if the traits turn out like I hop they are going to be. That is, only builds that take one of these grandmaster traits in fire and earth. All the other builds still completely lack defense so one of these traits is a must. Other classes like warrior can get the best of both worlds and that is why Eles are weak, because they are balanced and other classes are not.
2. The Eles base HP needs to be brought up to around mesmers at least because even if these other classes were brought in line with speccing for only offense or defense (or of course hybrids which would not get the best of both worlds) then Eles would still be below par because the HP difference is massive and we don’t have stealth and evades like a thief does.
tl;dr I agree but other classes need to become balanced in the way Ele is and also Ele’s base health needs to be brought up to around the mesmer’s because even if the other classes were balanced then they would still have an advantage because the Ele’s health is so low compared to others and we don’t have stealth and constant evades
How long does it take gw2skills to update their trait system for the new ones usually? I’d like to theory craft but I feel like they won’t update it till at least the new runes come out. Would he nice if they released the new runes and not wait till the 15th to do so
I’ve been thinking the same thing. It kinda sucks that we still don’t know the exact data on the ferocity changes (whether they’re rounding up or down on the 6% buff to celestial). Otherwise, I wouldn’t see a reason why they couldn’t update the calc for proper build crafting. I would imagine they will wait for the patch rather than adding a bunch of tentative information to their site.
Right? I could spend hours/days going through the new runes and changes. Its exciting. Currently playing the new Infamous Second Son till the new changes come out. I just want to see everything already lol. Playing the game right now just isn’t that great cause all I can think about is playing with the new traits and a new build and weapon set maybe. I wish they would just come out with the info so I can sit on gw2skills playing with everything.

Was hoping anyone else would have something to say on this subject. Its of course endless amounts of work I’m guessing but is needed if thieves are ever going to go anywhere imo although I understand all the new feature patch announcements are getting people attention more.
