Crafting booster not work?

in Crafting

Posted by: Cush.4063

So I was told by someone in LA that he used a crafting booster and it got him to level 80 by crafting. So, I thanked him for the information then proceeded to spend 20g on weaponcrafting and used the crafting booster and it didn’t give me anymore than the 7 levels I was supposed to get. ?? I’m pretty angry because I wouldn’t have spent that amount of gold or time if I was just going to get those 7 levels AND I used the a nonworking crafting booster. Was this guy making it up? If so, what do crafting boosters actually do? It says it will increase crafting exp gained by 50% on criticals. I assume that every couple things I craft I will get a critical hit like in fighting and it will increase the exp 50% more than it normally would. but I’m sitting at exactly 7 levels higher. Help would be appreciated and if it was a bug then I would like my 20g and crafting booster back. I was about to purchase several more of them off of the gem store but it seems pointless now.

Its not bugged and the booster works like you described. This means that you need less mats to level your craft to 400 because you gain more craft exp. But regular exp arent effected by a crafting booster.

Yes, I responded to my initial post but if that’s the case it’s so extremely minimal that it doesn’t matter in the slightest as I had to use each one of my materials till the very end to get to 400. I didn’t get there with any less or any faster.

So I looked it up on google and people are saying that it only boosts your crafting exp in crafting levels. Thus it should save you money correct? If that were the case then why did I craft up to 400 using a crafting guide and get to the last part in the guide and it boosted me to 400. I didn’t get it early or anything. Waste. Don’t buy crafting boosters anyone. They’re worthless.

Was weird. The other day I did my daily PvP before reset and didn’t get a laurel but then did it again after reset a couple hours later and did receive a laurel. So I’m not sure if I just missed seeing it the first time or what. But I def agree that they should add a daily for WvW instead of combining it with PvE and reward it with a laurel. Goi g to take me forever to get my ascended trinkets for all 3 of my characters otherwise. Currently have 2 on my thief and only have 60 laurels to spare. Granted I wasn’t doing my daily everyday before but now that I need them it kinda blows.

Reputation System

Cush.4063

This kind of system has obvious drawbacks.

You can take a look at reddit since it’s pretty much the same thing.

Voting should be based on quality of contribution. In an ideal scenario, a comment that provides quality should be highly valued, even if you disagree with it. But more often than not, comments that you disagree with end up being ‘downvoted’ or “-1’d” because they don’t like that people don’t have opposing views.

That’s why I figured you would have to have a certain positive reputation to be able to down vote and it would be implied that you should only down vote someone based on the way they post. Not what they post about. Such as:

“You’re a kittening idiot, warrior’s are OP and if you are too stupid to realize this then just quit”
^That would be down voted and:
“No, warrior’s healing signet is too much, they have this and that while other classes don’t have that many options”
^That wouldn’t be down voted.

BUT, I understand where you’re coming from. I just figured that someone who has gotten a +5 would be a reasonable person on the forums and not a troll that would down vote someone just because they disagreed with them but rather because they are flaming them unreasonably.

Not gun’ happen. It doesn’t make money…. if it was with gems though…? :P

You’re probably right. 100 gems to buy in seems fair and more along the lines of what Anet would probably do if something like this ever happened. Although a gold buy in would be a good gold sink and a lot more players would participate including myself.

Reputation System

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Cush.4063

Cush.4063

gesho.9468 brought up a good topic, or at least I thought it was, in the PvP subforums. Figured it would be better off here so here it goes.

I think a reputation system on the forums would be great for many reasons. One of the main reasons is giving the community the decision if what someone posted in response to another player was offensive to them. If it wasn’t then no harm done right? If it was, then -1. It would also give credit to people who are making great topics that the community agrees on as well as showing that that person with a good amount of reputation has a good post to look forward to and sit down and read since his reputation is great. Of course there would need to be ways to prevent abuse and I think a simple system could easily do that.

  • In order for you to give someone a bad rep (-1), you need to yourself have a good rep. An example would be that in order to give a -1, you yourself would need to have a +5.
  • In order to give someone a positive rep you need to be in the positives yourself (+0).
  • You are only able to give out one rep a day
  • You can only give one rep per post

This would prevent:

  • People trolling and giving people bad reps because they can
  • People with bad reps giving someone a +1 on a terrible post because they’re being a troll
  • Prevent people from spamming the reputation button
  • Prevent people from repping the same post to get it noticed

Another suggestion would be once you hit -5 you get flagged and a moderator can evaluate your posts and see if you’re needed for punishment such as not being able to create your own threads for a certain amount of time, being able to post only once every 10min, or a temp ban.

I dunno, what do you guys think? I think it would be a great system so that us, the community has control over if someones post was negative or not rather than getting infracted for things you don’t agree on. For example, awhile back I was infracted for calling someone a liar. I thought it was a little bit over the top to get infracted for it. But hey, that was a long time ago and I was just using it as an example. Post your thoughts.

In my opinion, I think this could clean up the forums a bit. In this I mean, not by keeping people from posting things that they don’t like about the game and would like to change. I mean, in the manner of their post. A lot of people, when they are angry, they post in a very unprofessional manner which then makes other people angry who respond, which then starts a debate of angry individuals with extremely unprofessional rage hate posts. I myself have gotten sucked into it at times and would love for it to change.

add reputation to forums

in PvP

Posted by: Cush.4063

Cush.4063

This probably should go in the general forums but I agree. I think the users should have a bit of control over when they feel like someone was being disrespectful to them rather than the moderators having full control. I got an jnfrqction for calling someone a “liar” once. Lol. That was it. If that person felt that I was offending them then they should be giving me or someone else the -1. Of course to make it not abused they would have to make a limit of one over day or something of that sort.

EDIT: Actually a good way to make it so trolls don’t come in and give everyone -1, you could make it so that you have a certain reputation before being able to put a negative rep on someone else. So say you need to have +5 before anyone can do a -1 but everyone is allowed to +1 if you have a rep of +0 or higher.

Buff Thieves, make Stealth break on damage.

in Profession Balance

Cush.4063

There was a point in time last year I believe April/March where they were going to put a effective cooldown on stealth when you left it (reveal when you leave stealth regardless of attack) this would have been interesting to see implemented since it clears up some loose ends in their implementation.

They have put the revealed debuff in game. Its 4 seconds I believe.

But again I say. I wouldn’t mind a stealth nerf at all if they buffed the thief in a major way giving it more diversity with another mechanic to use. I main a D/D sPvP thief, I changed from D/P because it did feel too cheasy for me not needing a target to stealth while also laying down a blind field at the same time. But I’m tired if relying on the one move that gets me damage which is backstab. That’s all main handed dagger thieves rely on, getting that backstab. Do I think stealth is severely broken? Not really, maybe very slightly. I would agree that by missing or getting blocked or w/e it should unstealth you…….as long as we get some major changes to the class with diversity so I have more than one thing to rely on. People call me noob all the time in PvP when I go stealth and back stab them. What they don’t understand is that’s the only thing I can do to damage them until I get them under 50% health. If I had more options I would take them.

Sorry, I didn’t see your post. But I don’t really understand what that means. Could you elaborate a little? When you say software requirements for queue all I can think of is being required to have windows 8 to enter a queue lol. If you could elaborate a little on what you’re implying a thread should discuss regarding queue I/anyone would be willing to make a thread for it.

There’s a gold requirement to get a commander tag in WvW. Although anyone with enough gold can get it, your lucky that rarely anyone abuses it. Think if everyone could get a commander tag on start and not get to understand what it means first? Would be hell in WvW. there’s also a rank requirement for siege and such. Tournament play should have a rank requirement. I think rank 15 would be fine.

Until you have ai that are unpredictable and act more like a player, people will always find loopholes and tactics, and figure out how each boss attacks, etc. That’s why you play PvP, because its 100x more challenging then PvE. No matter what happens ever, PvE will always be figured out and super easy once you do until AI themselves are improved. That’s why I’m looking forward to EQN as they teamed up with story bricks and shpposably revolutionalized the way AI works. Go play PvP.

Then I can sell 5 or 6 more and then have to wait again for the error to stop. Who else gets this? Its aggravating when trying to clear room in your inventory to continue a dungeon or leveling crafting or anything really. I wish Anet would fix the bugs in the game but it seems too much to ask.

Good roaming build?

This is a pretty basic roaming fresh-air build:

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fEAQJArYhEmgbzR5gjDIkHwwJwCiHWQDwhlC5AA-jUyAYrASWAoPgJfBxknyaVrIas6FMVJRUt3ATIgRLAA-w

Mainly: High damage, high mobility. Utilizes the currently-broken critical damage stat-line for more damage output. The armor set for this build is likely to be changed when the ferocity changes come in on the next balance update.

Edit: THis build has 15.5k health. But with defence against guards (5 stacks) you should be hovering around 17.5k which is survivable in most cases.

Good luck.

Thanks a bunch! I am nervous about celestial though since there’s been a large amount of threads saying this next patch is going to kill it. I guess we’ll see. If anyone has any other builds without celestial I would be interested. Thanks!

I only have 60g currently and on my thief I spent a little over that for a full set of travelers runes. I’m currently running D/D 0/0/10/30/30 but if s/d or s/f is more viable that would be info much appreciated. What I’m really looking for specifically is gear setup since that’s where I’ll be spending my gold. Thanks for any replies! And again, I’m looking for something that has good power for roaming so I can 1vx and also support me with some hp like soldiers amulet would give me 20khp in sPvP.

Thanks guys! This really helped me understand how it worked. I looked at it as the whole server playing the game and playing their character throughout the whole game rarely breaking the chat from RP. Not specified small groups hanging out in one area coming up with stories. Unfortunately the way I thought it was looked a lot more intriguing and fun but I can see most people joining an RP server not caring if its RP and not participating so it would be extremely difficult for most of the server to play the same game at the same time :p.

I get so tired of back stab. K just recently moved to Ele for this reason. Thieves need something more than stealth backstab. It gets so boring after a long time. Its the only move you use to get that good damage output. The only other viable spec without stealth is s/p. If there could be a way to give thieves another great mechanic and nerfing stealth without breaking the class I would be all for it. Give us diversity! In Nm way am I saying that stealth is broken, I’m just saying that I got bored of the same kitten thing after awhile and I’m completely open to meeting it as long as we get something great that works.

Haha, sorry I just have never really seen it. I got curious finally after reading the thread about skin color and people talking about creating their characters with certain ascents. When you join an RP server and play it do you act like you’re the hero and your character in chat? I mean instead of regular talk do you portray your character in the game a certain way? “The great jungle wurm is attacking the blood coast, we must save it from destruction! Hey John, as the bard do you mind playing some epic battle music to get our warriors inspired and ready to fight? I shall lead us to victory!” Ha, in all seriousness I’m really intruiged. I’ve always seen RP servers on different games and always wondered how it is you play and act with your friends on the server.

16gb Corsair Vengeance Ram
Evga GTX 770 gpu
2 TB Hard drive.

So you’re system seems overall better than mine except the GPU is one step lower. I get around 30fps in big zerg fights and around 70fps in LA and other parts of the world. Even in the work fight I drop no lower than 25-30fps. To drop down to 8 seems really off to me. I don’t think its a GPU problem though.

Anet is planning something big I’m sure of it. They’ve only hinted at it in the last several interviews/blogs. As far as your suggestion goes, it wouldn’t work. There’s plenty more the game could give us but multi passing is definitely out of the question. And when you relate it to balancing issues, WvW is PvP as well. And you can’t leave out the PvP crowd in it as well. So PvE gets a whole revamp and PvP gets left in the dust? There would be an outrage. Just saying. But anyways, there’s going to be a big update nonetheless.

New Player: first PVP thoughts...

in PvP

Posted by: Cush.4063

Cush.4063

Great first constructive post! Seriously. For being a new player you’ve named a lot if not most all of the problems people have been speaking up about. I agree with all of them except for one. That one is the downed state. It’s a great game changer and could be very exciting with an audience and it is definetely very satisfying finishing a stomp on someone, haha. But especially with thief, you have a really good stomp skill. That skill is stealth and another one is blinding powder. If you’re a D/D thief, you can use Cloak and Dagger to stealth on them, which will also blind them if traited, and then they can’t attack you because you are stealthed, thus they cannot target you. With a D/P build you can throw Blinding Powder down which makes all of their attacks not hit you and miss thus leading to a successful stomp.

Now to your other points.

  • Everybody has been screaming about new game modes and the devs say they are working on new maps and game modes with the maps being specialized for the game mode. They will be out sooner or later, hopefully sooner as it has been awhile.
  • Condition damage is an extreme problem is sPvP right now and is dominating it. It’s a problem for everyone and most people on other classes run condition builds because it is so powerful so I completely understand where you’re coming from. I hope to god that they find a solution to this soon.
  • Finally, particle effects. Everyone is aware that the particle effects are really a bit much and you really can’t understand what is going on most of the time. Even the shoutcasters for tournaments don’t seem to call out specific skills and I’m almost completely positive that this is the reason behind it. It’s just too kitten hard to see what’s going on a lot of the time.

Oh, I did miss one point. You said sPvP isn’t friendly to thieves. It depends on how you look at it but there is almost always one thief in every organized team. That is because a thief is good at decapping far point and jumping into a point to make a quick kill. With thief you really have to understand that it’s not your job to hold points. Each class has it’s own job, or at least should. A thiefs job is to jump in when timed right to finish off someone real quick and then back out if you are taking damage. As well as like I said, running over to farpoint because they have the best mobility and decapping it and sometimes capping it as well. Thieves are great in 1v1’s. Some other things a thief is good at is taking down the treb or holding your own treb. Things like that. Hope I helped and we all hope some of these issues are resolved as well

Random fact of the day world bosses and wvw aren’t organized because there’s some blue chip. If that were actually true you wouldn’t see smaller groups wiping much larger groups in wvw from time to time. Any real organization is due a voice chat program, which do you need a commander tag… nope you can run around with a call target on your head and have the same effect.

LOL if they spent 100G for a tag they know what they are doing, if they are wielding multiple legendaries they must be extremely knowledgeable, and if they paid $$ for gems to convert to gold and buy a tag well… thats it they are the elite of the elite.

Your nearly a year to late mate, I bought my tag with the left overs after making a legendary….just cuz.

LOL in the wise words of Ace Ventura " how selfish of us, lets do all the things that YOU want to do"

I don’t know what server you play on but more than half the people in my WvW don’t listen to the people who tell them to go on team speak. They all just follow the tag. So that’s bullkitten and you know it. If there weren’t tags then WvW would be a mess. Most people are too lazy to get on ts or download it. They see a tag and follow it. Not to mention almost ALL world boss events are done without ts and are following and listening to the tag. The only ones I can think of that people go on TS for are Tea and the Wurm and that’s probably only half. Stop trolling.

The AI needs to dodge for PvE to be fun

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

There are better AI that reside in the game. They are located in the “heart of the Mists”. The class specific trainers there. They use the abilities of each class and are a much better fight/are extremely more fun and you don’t know what move they are going to do next. I’m pretty sure they don’t dodge though but the fact is that they aren’t doing the same moves in a rotation and are tougher to fight against. I also wish more mobs besides the few in the toxic events had a downed state as it is a lot more satisfying to finish your foe off and it also makes you vulnerable to other mobs around you to make the fight more active and using cc would make a lot more sense so that you could finish the downed foe much like it works in PvP.

A commander tag is there for a reason. Otherwise WvW, World bosses, etc
wouldn’t be that organized. I’d say 90% of commander tags purchased were because those people wanted to help ad lead other people and they know what they are doing when they tag up. Yes, they paid to get it but 100g is still a big chunk of gold to be spending on just a tag. It also means that they’ve spent a good amount of time in the game and 90% is imo a safe bet that you are doing the right thing by following them and listening to them. You could say that you can make 100g pretty quickly but almost everyone is going to get optimal gear and things they want for their character before they spend that much on a tag. I mean what do you get out of IG boring the commander? An unorganized chaotic fight. What do you get by listening and following them? A much larger percent at success and organization. I think that choosing to not follow a commander because all they did was spend some gold for it is extremely shallow when all it does is guarantee a much higher rate at organization and success. The comments in this thread alone show how most of the forum community is, which is a bunch of people who want everything their way and are extremely selfish. Buy yourself a tag if you feel that way. Its only 100g right? I don’t even have a tag.

EDIT: and obviously everyone is taking the thread title the wrong way because he said “ordered”. You all know that you can’t be “ordered” in this game, all a commander says is obviously a suggestion. I would be kind of aggravated as well if o were telling people how to have the best chance at success, cause that’s what everyone wants is success, and nobody gives it a chance.

Woah! Surprise! The trolls weren’t the first ones to post in this thread and tell you how horrible the game and empty it is when it isn’t. Seriously, I’m really surprised. I sometimes feel they spend every waking moment looking for a thread to rant their hate towards guild wars 2. But no, the game isn’t dead in the slightest. Pick a good popular server though if you want to see more people while leveling. Enjoy!

I'm getting tired of dumb party problems

I’m only on level 4 for fractals. Yet I know how to do every single one. You know how I’m such a low level in fractals yet know each map? Because of the most ridiculous problem. The party leader leaving. Multiple times I’ve had this issue where I’ve spent hours doing a fractal to come to the last boss or something where either the party leader DC’s or another party member DC’s and the party leader doesn’t want to wait so leaves. Why does everyone get kicked? Why? It puts a fire in me I’m so angry when this happens. Obviously it just happened again at this very moment which is why my post is in rage. I can’t seem to progress in fractals because the party leader leaves and I just spent an hour or two doing it and it’s not really motivating to give it another try from square one. This should be a major priority to make it so that when a party leader leaves that someone else gets assigned the party leader just like every other game out there. /rant

between this server
( jade of quary, sanctum of rails, blackgate, Tarnished coast)

Black gate has the most and is full atm I think. Then jade quarry and sanctum of tall. Tarnished coast is probably next. Here, look at the rankings and they can usually tell you which are the highest populated. https://leaderboards.guildwars2.com/en/na/wvwmain

I agree that it should give footsteps ;P. And mercury, I wouldn’t assume that the turning of the page is up to par with footsteps. I think it would be up to par with, say the Twilight Greatsword where the sword leaves trails and has an aura itself. Or how the Incinerator gives the burning effect on people when they die and when they are hit.

The PvE people whined long enough. I mean they already have everything geared toward them, why not make it easier. It’s hilarious. Rank 30 isn’t even that bad.

The desert side definately has a much bigger advantage over its passive effects as well as bosses and powers. AI turrets, Lord’s room has an elemental bonded by other elementals that stack close together and respawn, have the workshop which gives you the little siege bugs for “free”, green gets kodan but you have to pay 25 badges for it. The siege bugs can take down a wall in literally seconds if you are in a decent group. Desert>all others. It’s like they have a handicap or something. Those AI turrets are powerful, I saw my zerg get hit by one and get knocked down and right when they were getting up they got hit by a second and then they were about to get up again and they got hit by a third, lolol. Half of them died. Lucky I wasn’t in there with my uplevel or I would’ve died after the first or second shot and been finished with the third.

About 50% of total accounts have less than 1,000 achievement points.

And 90% of total accounts have less than 3,000 achievement points.

take that for what you will.

I’ve been playing for 4+ months now and I’m not even at my 2500 mark. Believe it or not, when you don’t try and get achievement points all the time they don’t come that fast. The games only been out for a little bit over a year. And I’m addicted to this game, I play 4-6 hours a day.
