This is about sPvP, not WvW.
Did you read the discussion at all about the huge gap in effectiveness of the thief in WvW and sPvP?
Also, thieves built for it already deal 20k stabs in WvW, like me.
But even then, it’s harder to play than anything else and only works in specific encounters, so should it not be rewarded for what it does well?P/D dire perplex is MUCH stronger in WvW than any DPS build on a thief, too. Ask almost any well-established thief which is better at roaming.
Any ideas hwo they can increase thieves effectivness in the cPvP, but not affect it in WvW?

good thieves are very few, even in the higher brackets. but when mastered they are a force. for example, a mastered s/d thief is the best 1v1 and nearly-immortal spec. but it’s very hard to play.
a mastered s/d theif is the best 1v1? lmao. no. What kind of players have you played. Thief is perhaps the worst 1v1 class overall.
also, anyone who thinks thief counters ranger… it does not. it is not a hard counter to ranger. Its a soft counter at best in team situations…. 1v1 duel power ranger team build should beat thief team build, although d/p thief is better vs ranger, its still one sided. If i can get on a power ranger for the first and dominate thieves who have been playing for a while and considered good thieves… then thief does not counter ranger.
actually d/p has relatively easy time vs power ranger (given no spells bug out)

The only reason you think this is because you probably have never dueled a decent power ranger.
ummm. i 1v1 plenty of rangers… only reason i ever die to them is either because of teleport bug or i had no cds from previous fights….

So i should stop playing a class I want to play( not for the daily) to play something I dont want? this daily thing is causing a lot of the problems to the matchmaking. they should just give random class dailys to everyone and not the same so we dont suffer team of one class.

What you said prompted me to look into your record. You’re currently running 35w/32l for the ranked arena, and 131w/141l in unranked, both of which are healthy w/l ratios.
Was it thief in particular that you were having difficulty with? Maybe someone here can share some tips for others having trouble with the profession.
Ever had an idea that people maybe don’t want to play particular classes nor will be good at it no matter what…? Especially if their mmr is actually relative high due to how well they play their main class?
Tip: I would suggest to learn about meta builds, then try them out. Main issue with “new” people to PvP is fact they try to achieve something with PvE builds which are horrible and bring nothing to Conquest matches. Also try to study your weakness and learn which scenarios you should avoid with certain classes, e.g. your team will be mad if you will assault far defended by turret engi all the time while failing with it (you should just let him afk there or zerg him down with numbers).
Except thief is not something like ele or engi where you can respec into meta build, roll your face on keyboard and collect points. Yeah, let’s force people to invest hundrets or hours into class that don’t want to play to be able to finish daily………… not to mention, they won’t be able to carry game due to class imbalance/game mechanics.
Prime example: i would consider my mmr relative high since i am facing top 10 all the time. Would i actually do daily and switch to classes i don’t perform well i probably would never be able to win any matches because i would have to rely on my team to do amazingly well and carry me. Why not rename daily into “carry me daily”?

First run a ping test to another random non-gw2 server in Germany (I think the EU servers are housed there?).
Always worth doing a few basic diagnostics to see if you encounter the problem before ANet’s servers.
eu servers are located in frankfurt, when i did tracert during lag i still had 22 ms….so no idea where lag comes from when it happens
Somewhere after about ~300ms is when this starts to manifest I find.
Perhaps your connection has degraded recently.
Might be worth running a few basic diagnostics to see if you can find an issue, maybe give your ISP a buzz following that, they can run some tests and offer advice too.

But on my Mesmer (blink) it’s something different.You don’t move at all, not even a slightest bit towards the place you wanted to blink.
Utility is used while you’re still standing at the same spot..
the bug is in the same category, exactly same thing happens to shadow step, especially if you got terrain bug that prevents you from porting on stairs, differently textured surfaces etc.
i wouldn’t lie if i said that about 1/3 of my matches are blowout (no matter what side)…. how does it work?
but you can’t deny the fact that as trade off for all that moblity thieves lose survival (a lot of it in fact) and dmg (ranged especially)
I think we can all agree that in comparison the rangers options for swiftness (in ANY of our builds) come at more of a drawback for less performance than nearly any other class out there?

has to use F1 spell for gap closer

The fact that you should have to ignore a turret engi and let him have a point just strengthens the idea that they’re too powerful. No class should be able to singly handedly hold a point like the current turret engis do. Not even bunker guardians or warriors in their prime were as effective.
To all the people defending turret Engi by saying that it’s bad at everything and only fills one role, I think the real question should be, why should AI builds be even slightly viable? they promote passive play and don’t give players any incentive to get better at the game, which is my definition of kitten build.

Honestly though, it would be probably better idea to create own thread asking for critique or post on pages like deviantart and ask for critique there since there are quite few professional artists who might give you advice or two.
I am in Brazil, and here we have poor connections, but I use BattlePing for alternative routes and I did not had this issue before. I have an avarage of 130-170ms ping.
according toi devs they changed how game interracts with lag and movement spells hence the port bugs

Let’s see. This is how it should work (it doesn’t). Class that has to mele the most, gets highest mobility. Class that has to mele the least, has ranged attacks for 1500 in rabid fire succession, gets the least mobility.
I have to run 1500 further than you before I can start attacking, then I am in the middle of the kitt, have less mobility than you, less stun break with practically no escape and you come to ask for mobility buffs?

i actually have faced 4 turret engi + 1 bunker guard team before… worked really well for them
2-3 sets of turrets at mid with guard, 4 engis roaming with 4 crates and still 1-2 sets of turretsIf they won then I got nothing to say. Maybe the loss wasn’t your fault so I won’t say l2p issue; but maybe for your teammates it is. Only way that team comp would work is in the lower (lower than low) lvls of PvP.

any buff to ranger moblity would follow massive nerf to range and ranged dmg in general… there is reason why thief ranged options are laughable
You do realise Engineers have permanent Swiftness and Vigor and are capable of throwing Grenades at 1500m? Oh and they also have Slick Shoes for a full burst of speed and if using a Rifle, a Leap as well.

it doesn’t happen as much when you play with decent latency (20ms) but still rather annoying as game feels less responsive… for w/e reason when i am stuck in BP aftercast i can’t use steal or inf. signet…. :/
