My teammates rush to far, get farmed there, decide to afk at spawn rest of the match.
Pretty sure reporting them for “botting” won’t do anything. Why do you people even queue if you just gonna afk at spawn anyway? Also, why can’t be something done about such crap?
It is enough that i constantly have 4v5, having 3v5 because people don’t feel like playing is just extra that is really not needed.

I hardly doubt that acro is most used traitline…. more like power/crit in pve and trickery in pvp. Wvw is probably SA.
I think stats allocation across trait lines is ok but some traits are indeed quite misplaced imo and/or useless/crappy.

Why am i not surprised? The only thing Anet was good at all this years is finding way to nerfs thieves (pretending it is a buff) and screw up other classes at the same time… while completely ignoring huge issues that plagued the class since launch.
Watch it, teleport/terrain bug will be still not fixed. Last refuge will still get thieves killed. Will still get hit mid of dodge/evade with 22 ms latency etc….
Oh and certanly they will make sure that engis are on the top of the food chain as always and celestial classes can collect points while drooling on keyboard because Anet apprently has 0 understanding of risk vs reward concept.
The more i look at xpac the more i want to say “eff this game”.

basically telekom is too cheap to extend the node that causes bottle neck every evening hence why telekom and 1&1 (reseller from telekom) customers get lag when they get routed to frankfurt (where gw2 server is located)
supposely telekom has plans on expanding their capacity but it probably will take them another 128340238402842834 years before they actually do it
so yeah, welcome to the club

Started dungeon myself, found people via LFG, got kicked after last boss died so i didn’t get reward. Trolls at it’s best. No way to prevent it besides making full premade which is not possible for all of us.
Can’t even report those players because team chat doesn’t save names once you got kicked out of team.
At least when you were dungeon owner, being kicked also caused everyone being kicked.

I think it’s time to step back and consider what some of you are saying… Because it’s completely illogical and just helps spread misinformation.
(Weapon strength) * Power * (skill-specific coefficient) / (target’s Armor)
This is the equation for base damage. You can add protection, vulnerability, damage modifiers, etc, into it too, but those are also all multiplicative, meaning if you double for instance power, the total damage is also doubled. Add a 10 % modifier, and the damage goes up 10 %, add protection and damage is reduced by 33 % – pretty straight forward.
Now taking from wiki, we get these damage coefficient for some of the dagger skills:
Backstab: 2.4
Shadowshot: 1.25
Full auto chain: 0.56 + 0.85 + 0.85 = 2.26So as we can see, backstab will always deal almost twice the damage of shadowshot (provided it hits from behind of course), and the damage is still around 6 % higher than the damage dealt by the full auto chain. You can make claims that backstabs hits too little, but if it hits like a wet noodle, you can be sure the rest of your skills will do the same. Adding protection and high toughness doesn’t magically alter the skill coefficients.

the thread is not about builds really.. just backstab in itself… i feel like correlation between dmg it deals and costs is just not justified in current meta (which apprently is desired by devs considering they didn’t bother touching it for 1 year now, lol @ might nerf)
giving flat dmg buff to bs would be wrong as it would just push thieves too much over other zerkers hence suggestions that would rather affect tankier targets

Sure sure, we have wvw, we have pve where bs can pull nice numbers once in ages…
I am talking about pvp. Certanly thieves can still get relative high backstab numbers on squishies. The problem is you don’t see them so much in pvp really. Most of the classes either play celestial or are just generally tanky/have high uptime on protection/weakness.
Most (high) backstabs i see are around 4-5 k. Celestial classes can do actually more dmg which kind of kills whole purpose of going zerker on first place (and thieves don’t have alternatives really).
Might sound a lot but it is not if you consider the set up time and requirements:
- getting stealth /blow CDs or a lot of initiative
- get behind the target
- mostlikely eat a lot of aoe dmg/CC while trying to get behind the target
Meanwhile given the set up time and execution time i probably could have done double dmg by spamming auto attack, even with sb… So what is the point of backstab? The risk/costs are just too high imo.
Maybe specialisations will change it but highly doubt it (inb4 traps spec is all thieves get) so few thoughts on it(brainstorming):
- maybe make it that crit backstab has xx% chance to ignore protection/certain amount of armor be it via rune/sigil or trait
- make ferocity more meaningful and maybe allow characters with high ferocity do more dmg if target reached certain armor level
- reduce backstab requirements? add trait that doesn’t require to be behind the target (lowers skill cap but really what is the point of skill cap in this brainless meta?)
You would say, omg u cray? You want thieves to do more dmg vs tanky ? But but but… yeah exactly isn’t it why zerkers give up everything for dmg anyway? Seeing them doing as much if not less dmg than celestial is just dishearting and makes me question Anet decisions. Seeing as Anet has 0 interest in changing celestial meta (which we had for 1 year now) i think it is time to ask for changes for thieves or zerkers in general.
tl/dr: My point is: backstab should be actually worth the amount of time/recources it requires. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Well, Medi-Guard burst is not really an issue because it takes time to apply the burst and it can be countered with a stunbreak. It’s not INSTANT damage. Plus DPS-medi Guard defense is comically weak, at least in the case of a glass-cannon Thief, you have stealth/Shortbow/Shadow Step to gtfo if things go bad; a DPS Guard just has to take it to the face, so imo Guards aren’t really a “problem.”
RE: the OP, yeah Power-Claw Necros are pretty obnoxious, but they are susceptible to Boon Strip. If you don’t happen to HAVE Boon Strip, well then I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

there are quite few classes that do more dmg than thieves but thieves are the best roamers in pvp due to mobility, stealth not to mention valuable stab steal daze that can interrupt stab stomps/rezzes

I don’t have bad days, i have bad teams sometimes when i am consistently 1v3 and my team gets farmed at spawn point.
Certanly i am not best thief out there and can still improve a lot but issue with thief in general is that they can’t hold points so if your team doesn’t hold them you can’t win matches no matter how amazing you are.

Using your screenshot as an example:
You can’t judge a network solely by its ping. All a ping is really good for is checking if something is accessible and how long it takes. All those x/25 don’t really mean much because pings have a low priority and can be simply ignored, as seen with hop 9 and 11. Only dropping a few pings is more suspicious, but even then it could just be ping specific throttling rather than an overloaded router.
What you want to look at is the number next to the |. That shows a ping that was lost in between two hops – actual packet loss. Hop 6 to 7 doesn’t look too good, which is the EU-NA link.
But what if your pathping shows no problems? That’s the problem. Throttling doesn’t affect pings but forces you to drop packets. Throttling is a cheap alternative to network upgrades which are needed due to high bandwidth services gaining popularity. The rise of HD streaming (Netflix) for example destroyed older, highly populated networks.
Your pathping shows a route from Germany to the NA servers. Since there is nothing wrong with the NA servers, if you are experiencing problems with them, it’s definitely outside of ArenaNet’s control. You however appear to be on the EU servers, so I’m guessing you either transferred or pinged the wrong server.
at the least it would be fair towards people who have not yet bought the game and have no idea what they will be getting into
Posting an update in this thread wouldn’t change that. As for profits, it costs ArenaNet when they have to issue a refund, but scaring away potential customers is even worse.
