As someone else brought it up, it meant to be help to maintain weakness, not to do the job alone, which makes sense.
I will explain this. It’s the exact same situation as the charr armors.
Charr armor clipping only affect a “few” players, because charr is the least played race, so it’s a low priority thing. Just as a note, thats why they are the least played in a mostly cosmetic based game, but whatever …
So if necro is broken, it will be low priority, since it’s the least (?) played class.
Business, my fellow brother and sisters. All about business and priority, there is no class favoritism, just priorities.I get the kitten covered end of the stick, im a charr necro…
Me too.
Me three. :/
We should start a support group.
Necro support? That thing is non-existent.
For the record my main is a cleric guardian and a dmg survival mesmer.
Holy porcupine … Why man, just why???
The build in question is FOUR signet-1 shout hambow with unknown traits.

Troll spotted!
The only transformation that can stomp during the middle of the duration is Rampage.
How surprising thats a warrior skill …

March 18th grand feature patch
- Finally we fixed a long lasting bug since beta, so now the so called Necromancer no longer a class, but a mob as intended.
Ehm wouldn’t be a easy solution to handle the scaling of the damage and the healing differently? I mean, lower the damage to the abyss and don’t bother with it, the heal is what we need from it anyway.
Transfusion can be changed to Mark of evasion if there are nobody who can provide regen. Tbh i have no idea for good runes. Maybe this 3 monk 3 water setup, to increase the protection duration, but i doubt that the investment worth it.
Going further into spite seemd pointless to me, the bonus healing power from the 15 point minor don’t even worth it. And i love Last gasp too much.
As i a mentioned, the sustain is great, you can facetank everything, if it can be blinded it’s even better, but the damage is so low, that in a dungeon your team will 4 man the whole instance.

Hi all!
Once again, thanks for the feedback!
We’ve been discussing elementalists quite a bit recently in PvP and one of the things that’s brought up constantly from feedback is the internal cooldown from Cleansing Water. This is something we feel is out-dated and we’ve been playing around with removing the ICD totally from PvP. We’ve got some concerns, but would love to hear some feedback on this.In general, we’ve got quite a bit more stuff coming. As before, we can’t say what these things are just yet… But there’s a bit of stuff that will shake up the meta. We’re really looking forward to it!
-Karl
There has been talk of new traits, weapons, and utilities, which would bring a little freshness into an otherwise stale meta. I’d be excited to see changes like this.
However, paying 25 skill points for every new utility or heal tends to drain the joy of seeing new additions. Not only does the cost seem totally arbitrary and ludicrous—only 5 points below the second-tier elite skills—it’s extremely unfriendly for new players/characters that don’t have a large pool of skill points to draw from.
110% agree. New skills should be free as every other ability in sPvP or Anet gave up the competitive scene idea suddenly … ? If yes, can you (Anet) balance around other game modes too pretty please?
Someone would be so lovely to explain why Celestial good at all?
It looked like to me like a 14/14/14/14/14 trait distribution. Good at nothing, but at least not bad.
@Mad Queen
Now im running around, using this well build thingy (not exactly the same as yours) and the amount of sustain it has is really impressive, BUT the damage is so low that it scares me. I’ve seen you in the latest Mari fight and the build proved itself but .. i don’t know .. Maybe i will give it a shot next time.
Nah, what happened with the “leaked living story” thread? :C The OP got deleted and the topic followed it.
Go to main cities, especially in Lions Arch and use the LFG tool. Half of your problems will be solved.
^You can dodge Moa easily.
Not if you are out of dodges, immobilized, or fighting several opponents at once (so you miss the animation). So it remains TOTALLY UNFAIR that Moa morph destroys ALL Minions.
Isn’t the Necro also the profession with the least Evade/Vigor/Aegis?
If 0 means the least, then yes.
Guardians are always balanced imo; thieves instead….I just can’t stand them and I don’t know the class well: I just know that if the first strike doesn’t kill you, thieves will just die or run away in stealth (both in PvP and WvW).
Guardians make the other classes feel unbalanced, and that’s I think because they don’t bring quite the same amount of team support as the guardian. If you have a guardian in your party (and who doesn’t?) he’ll be the primary source of buffs and healing, and your survivability improves a lot. But he also brings a lot of defense and offense to the table. This doesn’t make the guardian unbalanced, but it blatantly shows just how unbalanced the other classes are.
If the designers wanted to get rid of the monk after GW1, they shouldn’t have given all the monk’s characteristics to the guardian. If the goal was to allow all the classes to fulfill a similar support role, then they really should improve the support of the other classes.
For example, why are guardians also able to reflect projectiles? I can’t do that as a necromancer, but it’s an insanely powerful ability in PVE, which several encounters seem designed for. And it’s one of the primary reasons why people bring guardians and mesmers into dungeons.
I don’t want the devs to take that role away from them. But I want them to give the other classes also a purpose in dungeon teams.
If my necro can’t reflect projectiles, and the support of my class is poor, and my condition damage is capped… then how am I contributing to the team? What is my identity? What is my purpose?
I agree with you but that’s the kind of class diversity we’re aiming for: having a guardian in your team is a must (most of the times). The real problem is when, for example, three warriors become a must in your team or when there’s no space for a ranger or an ele in a Dungeon party, in a tPvP tourney or a GvG match.
That is THE problem. At least necros (and engis) have a role they fulfill very good in WvW and PvP, other classes such as Elementalist and Ranger (which can rely ONLY on the spirit build in PvP and on sword dps build in PvE) doesn’t have a reason to be played right now.
^^^
This.
Also it’s funny but it feels like every kitten party I’m in requires a freakin wellomancer to survive, if I don’t throw out my wells, everyone seems to drop fast, regardless of class or level of skill. AND.. If I EVER die.. people start dropping on boss fights, like I’m their shelter or something idefk..
Oddly enough, this is my experience as well. We might be running similar builds. Due to the mix of high toughness and constant up time of protection, my necromancer lasts very long when face tanking bosses, or overwhelming mobs of enemies. And the damage is decent as well, due to high power. And it seems to improve the survivability of groups as well. It really does feel that whenever I join a group with my well-o-mancer, survivability of the group simply doubles. And I’m often the last person standing, as was recently the case during the Marionette event.
Would you so kind to share this build?
Necro, in terms of PvE. There’s no contest.
Each profession has something that they bring to the group that gives them an advantage; The common Warrior have really great damage and good support. A Thief have great single-target damage, evades, blinds and SR. Every profession have something. The Necromancer seems to be by a fairly big margin the worst profession in this respect. Anything they do can be done better by other professions. Sure, there is Epidemic, but the very nature of Conditions and their Cap makes it generally much more useful to go DD. But at that point, you’d absolutely prefer a Warrior, or an Engineer.
And I’m not biased; I play an Elementalist, an Engi, a Warrior and a Guardian, but no Necro.
Until the design of the necro change from a selfish class to something else, or the content has meaningful amount of encounters where boon stripping and condi removal needed and other classes cant do it with less effort while provide other things or the damage becomes the highest, necro remains the underdog in pve. Move on.
I’m wondering if there are any plans to get rid of stun-locking.
This. Letting hard CC run unrestricted tends to take a giant poodle scoot all over pvp balance. Right now builds/classes with both plentiful hard CC and mobility are usually near to if not top tier.
Either immunity timers are needed or more optimally in the long term less CC needs to be handed out to reduce the spam. Also gap closing abilities without some sort of restriction are often doing double duty as escape tools. If a gap closer deals damage it should require a target to reflect its primary purpose.
Diminishing returns as in WoW? Well, the huge difference is that DR is needed there, the amount of CC in WoW is ridiculous compared to GW2 (eg: 20s fear vs 2-3s fear).
Just elites. Funny elites.
No, you don’t.
While it’s not directly related to the hideout, i have noticed something interesting today when doing a personal story on a recently made alt. In the order of Whispers introductory cinematics (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBJfE-C3T7E) there are two things that drew my interest:
with the words “It doesn’t matter where the dragons came from and why they awakened” the globe is shown with something that looks really like the power leylines. Major power leylines. This i already knew (something similar is in the order’s base after all). But just after that a chandelier is shown… a chandelier that looks too much like upside-down twisted marionette. And there weren’t any twisted marionettes at the time yet, right?
“Q: In the Order of Whispers lair, we can see a huge planetarium. But it doesn’t seem to correspond to Tyrian continents. What are the blue areas on it? Of what use is this item for the Order?
Jeff: The huge orb is the Order Threat Assessment Board, indicating draconic and other supernatural threats on a huge scale. Much of the globe has not been explored by the Order, and as a result that space is used as expanded views for the areas that they are monitoring, and the end result does not look like the “real” world outside to someone just walking in (think of walking up behind a programmer when their screen is filled with code).”

To not derail the thread to a warrior hate topic …
Look at other classes. Mesmer for example also has a disadvantage against conditions in theory (and in reality too), but they make up their weakness. Really resilient against direct attacks, lots of stealth and clones are just annoying even if you can spot it immediately, you still need to retarget the opponent.
So … In this case imo the class is really balanced.
Or necro. If you attack with conditions, you just empower your enemy and he will throw it back to you. Death shroud allows do absorb direct damage (to non necro players: it has some serious issues, its far from balanced), so defense wise the class is okay. CC solves the problem, they are really weak against it and it counters them twice. The agressive playstyle require attacking to build up defense and if you cant even attack nor defend yourself …
Or guardian is a good example too. Due to their blocks and heals they can mitigate a lot of direct damage and with their cleanse conditions aren’t a problem either for a while. They rely on boons, so removing them helps to destroy guardians and if you force them, to blow their cooldowns, they just melt with that tiny health pool.
But when a warrior just cleanse, cleanse, cleans, immune and if kitten hit the fan just runs away …
And PvE is another issue where conditions are a big problem, but in a really different way. There you cant really support with conditions. Soft cc meaningless, damage scales badly, hard capped and slow. And if some classes get damage bonus from something, they are simply self reliant, so this is further decrease the value of conditions, except vulnerability ofc.
Classes that lack condition removal were meant to have a harder time conditions vs say direct damage. This is also how the warrior should be put back to par.
If anything, I would look at WHICH condition gets cleansed. Would have to crunch numbers, but it could be the largest tick, most ticks, etc. Vs last one. The problem is the number of conditions you can take. However, if you nerf all conditions, the classes relying on one or two main conditions get hammered (opps wrong class).
Thats the problem with warriors for a few months now and other issues too. Dodged march is a good example how they should act in combat. With that (+ melandru, lemongrass optionally), they are unstoppable with soft cc (which is funny imo) and with their utilities they are quite resistant to hard cc too. BUT … When cleansing ire became the part of the package called “warrior” it went out of hand … You dont really need to bother with soft cc, so you can spam a condi cleanse every 7-10sec, which is really easy to land sometimes (longbow F1), so that bulky berserker is become immune half of the damage types. Great.
“Necromancer
• Summon Blood Shark—Minion: Summon a blood shark to attack foes with crippling crunches.
• Charge: Command your blood shark to charge a foe.
• Underwater replacement for Summon Flesh Golem.
• Empowered Suffering—Corruption: Torment yourself for every boon on your foe. Bleed and torment your foe for every boon they have.”
/walks away silently/
But but but that thing and THIS is .. what? I don’t even … Better go to sleep now. Too much stress for today.
Not to mention elementalists can’t even use any of their elite skills in the water.
Only Tornado (Whirlpool), but yeah, thats not an elite, i eat my breakfast with it.
Geez, i need to research the other classes more … Protection Injection seems to be sooooooooooooo good.
I want to silently grab your attention and throw in an interesting topic, worth to check it out.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/necromancer/Traitworks-Bloody-Questions
Dueling a GS mesmer is as cheesy as a hammer warrior against us. Counterplay.
Im curious. What is blaster dmg?
That way it would be like you slap the enemy and right after shout your nuts off with a shotgun. Nope.
edit: On a more serious note. If we have costly, high risk skills with really high reward, im okay with it. Corruptions wanted to be something like that.
But we never see any dev in the necromancer forum. Do they even know it exists?
Not so long ago Mark Katzbach closed a thread. It’s still something.
^
Thats why topics like this or Traitworks should be discussed here and deliver it right to developers via the Balance forum (lol …), before trolls overwhelms the constructive feedback with lots of whine.
And as a few times we pointed out, guardian outnecro the necro, only the theme is different. Greatsword itself is so well balanced and has great synergy which isnt neccesary true for us, also (imo) the most stable class in the game right now is guardian with true attrition currently. We should take a look at them how they work.
Or just Anet should step up, turn on the man mode and say “guys, necro is now a burst caster, end of story”.
I will just grab some popcorn and hope we got some 2-3 minute long CGI fight with two elder dragons. If not, i still have popcorn, so nothing can go wrong.
Priorities. Always priorities. There is no class favoritism, just priorities.
Guardian GS#5 has the exact same effect and i never seen that someone said it’s op …
This skill would be gated by 3 factor. Life force and 2 CD. And i bet it would be so well telegraphed and slow, only blind wouldn’t see it.
Copy the mechanic of Binding blades it should remove only the unique effect and the further torment application would stop along with the detonation and immob.
However get access to a aoe pull with every build is questionable, but we should be a attrition class for kittens sake …
log ins to guardian to outnecro a necro
You know Necros are THE Punked Profession. It is like the Devs sit in a room & think of new, more annoying ways to punk us.
- The UI Delay
– All the other Bugs
– Condition-based Interrupts that can be easily ignored
– Stupid, and I mean STUPID Minions (that often do not even attack)
– Only Profession without Practical Stability
– Only Profession without Blocks/Evasion/Invulnerability
– Only Profession without access to Vigor (as via traits)
– Only Profession without a #1 Arcing/AoE Attack
– Only Profession with a Weapon [Staff] that is pretty Useless against Downed OpponentsAnd yet, I am able to get over 106.7K kills in WvW with such a punked profession…..lol shakeshead
Blobbing and noob killing proves nothing. The exit is there. →
Thank you.
That was a cooling rod, not a core sample.
The core thingy was from Omadd’s machine.
Salute for this brave hero!

BTW, Signet no longer works on taco, wurm (still works on head phase trough) or shatterer, gj a-net making the few uses it had utterly worthless.
Holy porcupine …
Cross fingers and hope that something happens in the feature / balance patch.
It’s already a condi flip aoe field, so there goes the group support. More or less the dark field portion of it can be a bonus too. Not so long ago leeching bolts got buffed if i remember right.
