Just try to step into other’s shoes for once, imagine all 3 Knights got this anti-direct damage instead, and you run a full Berserker build, how would you feel?
Tried condi build. Later realized power is better. Retraited. Now happy.
Good for you!
People should still be able to run condition builds without being punished for it.
Change weapons.

What about the laser one?
Only the big holograms shoots those things on the floor and the small adds at the end. What else should i avoid?
So i should attack ALL of the mobs? Big holo, 3 smaller ones, 18 even smaller and the extra adds at ultraviolet holo? Jeez …
Is it bugged or i missed something tricky about this?
If i am lucky enough to not get shooted when entering the Breachmaker it doesn’t matter that i evade the laser beams from both big holograms and from the smaller ones in the last phase, i still dont get credit.
Same with the attunements. AFK / not attacking the mobs doesnt work.
It appears that the new bosses are completely immune to condition dmg and instantly reflects it back to you.
I spent about 500g, and a month of my time fitting my necro out to be a condition user. I have to literally stand at the boss OOC for 10+ minutes and do nothing. My options seem to be respec or be worthless.
If you want to make things that are strong against conditions then just make them immune, the reflect is crippling to me, every weapon I own and even my auto-attack applies conditions, my only option is standing there OOC for most of the fight.
I saw my first knight just 2 minutes ago. And logged off. If Anet doesn’t want me to play my favourite profession (ranger), then I won’t play.
Are you unable to auto attack?
Condition reflect seems to be a bit random, poison and blind isn’t speciality for an Ele, however i often get it on me and Fireball doesn’t even a finisher.
Okay, and what can condition users do that power specs don’t do better/have done already?
Sure, you can swap a few traits and change gear, but when, in the history of GW2, were Zerkers forced to do this?
By the logic of most retorts it would be perfectly fine if Anet made a boss that reflected every crit back at its source, or even just all Power damage. “you can switch to dire gear, cry moah!”, “respec, pick the lowest dps weapons with the highest condi output”
Yes, that’s the best option. That’s what people are complaining about!
Also note no mechanic in any of these fights actually favors condition specs. Neither condition damage nor duration factor into the shields, just spamming application. That’s 1 weapon/utility swap for a power spec, compared to a full respec for condi.
This logic fails kitten the fact that every condi skill has a direct damage part while not every direct damaging skill has conditions on it.
Swap weapons and try to be effective.
Why you are upset about the Hounds when you have an Earth elemental? That thing can face tank almost anything even in high level fractals, not only single open world mobs.
Racials are just for flavor. Accept it and move on.
It happened a few hours ago. Out of curiosity i tried a full pvt Warrior on these new events. 3.3k armor, 28k hp, so yeah its pretty durable just by stats.
What happened? The Knight just walked by me casualy and slaughtered all the squishy characters while i was able to sit on max hp and dealing 1k crits.
How that debuff works? Couldn’t watch it yet.
Also I wish people would please stop suggesting I switch to a direct damage weapon when all of my crits provide bleed AND burning and do absurd amounts of damage to me. I tried using main hand dagger and I quickly had 9 stacks of bleed and 60% burning uptime which was about 2k dps on myself and about 1k dps on the knight… that is a completely unreasonable suggestion for my spec.
You can swap traits out of combat, change Dumbifre to Close to death.
You can negate the auto bleed proc by
1, Slow attacking weapons, like staff or DS#1 or Lich form
2, With Soldier, Dire or Valkyrie gear.
3, Using cleanses such as Well of Power, Consume conditions, Putrid mark, team mates
4, Get close to other people so you can benefit from random condi cleanse flying around
5, Watch the ground for Healing springs and Purgins flames.
Also i wish people would please stop whine, beacuse you and many others fails to understand a simple mechanic.
Edit: Using the least amount of conditions has the advantage that you don’t kill anyone in the group by accident.

Simple question, do the Knights scale up if the more players are around them or not?
Like the Engi’s complaining they have nothing to do. Wth guys? Why aren’t you packing elixir gun, support turrets, elixirs, med packs? Be a team player for phase 1 and then do what you do on phase two knowing, without you there more people would be downed or dying in one stage and the other would take forever.
Except being a team player to support some other ignorant players won´t get the Engi the boss-tagging to even get loot (and probably scale the event up)
Be social and get a party.
edit: just did it now on necro too. No problem at all in zerker with staff and axe is fine too, but the damage is pathetic even in the burst phase after Ele … :/
(edited by Dalanor.5387)
Easy, switch to ESO in April, all problems solved.
^
See this guy? A true necro always want to hurt themselves. Give this man a cookie.
srsly guys really? As a warrior, I inflict Bleeding/Vuln on myself from this because I have 100 percent crit chance and I have traits that bleed/vuln on crit. Also fire from my bow or auto attack bleeds with our rifle, do you hear us complaining?
1. Don’t use burning on the boss while it reflects conditions.
2. Don’t use rifle as a warrior.
3. Equip healing signet.
4. ???
5. Profit.
ps: Triggered combo fields effect will be applied to you, no matter what.
*Spoilers* MIND BLOWN right now! A++++ ANet
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

- Anet, the story told nothing to us!
- Wait for the next, it will be good.
- one patch later
- This still doesnt explain anything!
- Wait for the next, it will be good.
Try with invulnerabilites after she starts to throw granades.
Ranger with passive bleeds, kills self yay
Don’t forget Guardians: Virtue of Justice can’t be turned off, so they end up burning themselves every five attacks. But they can shout moral support from the sidelines, so it’s all good.
Use it once, forget it for 25seconds.
Just roll a warrior.

Wake up from a year old meta.

Major knee-jerk reaction to the fight.
There are stages. Melee handles DPS and condi players should be supporting them instead of stacking damage. Phase 2 the condi players stack as many unique conditions as long and as high as they can to make the boss weaker.
Try adapting to the fight instead of jump-the-gun raging because all builds cant face-roll win the encounter the exact same way.
I remember all of the QQ from zerker players that Wardens 3 in Marionette couldn’t just be face tanked and 4 required moving around and weapon swapping.
Put on your big kid pants folks, after a year and a half Anet is making you learn how to actually play the game.
Please explain to me how I as a condition necro am supposed to “support” the melee players?
Also explain to me why a condition user is necessary to stack conditions when power builds apply the same conditions and reach the cap without any condition user help?
I literally CAN’T play the game. any action at all from my character results in the application of conditions that down me. Please explain how I am supposed to do anything other than just stand there.
Here is a list of necro utilities that I can use to “support” my allies:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/List_of_necromancer_skills#Utility
Out of the 20 utilities:
4 are minions that die in 1 hit from the knights AOE
4 are personal defense and do no damage
12 apply conditionsI await your all knowing power to enlighten me on how I need to L2P.
Follow the golden rule and don’t play with conditions in PvE. Problem solved.
So basically don’t play necromancer, the class that revolves around conditions.
Or use axe, dagger, staff, death shroud, lich form, well of power, well of corruption, ranged minions … you know … power stuff.
I don’t think you realize how much of that stuff is condition heavy do you?
Do you even HAVE a necromancer?
Actually that was my first character and i have 1000+ hours in it, thank you.
With the exception of axe auto every option can be used to deal damage without any condition and the vuln from axe wouldnt kill you either.
@Freekpalmer: Flamethrower or Rifle. You have options to choose from out of combat and swap out Granade kit.
@Shiren: +1, but without any dedicated condi user, the boss will be bath in every condition after 2 seconds anyway.

Bwahaha, thank you and thanks for Arachnid for this post! :’D
Just give more people fuel for the “GO ZERK WARR OR DONT PLAY” spam
Don’t be narrow minded casual and just change to power build.
Conditions were never viable in PVE, especially in zerg events, wonder when people learn it.
Agree, but people never learn just whine.
Also, engi has flamethrower.
ps: Didn’t tried it, but summons can be immune to aoe as against Golem Mark II.
And still no reason. How naive i am that we should get any meaningful information …
Condition build on ele? Wut? Stop complaining please if you don’t even have a decent build …
Use your proper elite as an ele which won’t die in 10s. Problem solved.
“They may have various effects, such as condition removing or changing to a bear form, but they are all projected to be fairly weaker than their counterparts from professions that are specialized in similar skills.”
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Racial_Skills
They are weaker by design to not make a racial choice mandatory or overpowered, simple as that.
Don’t go hybrid or condi in pve.
From a balance standpoint every racial is fine except Become the Snow Leopard. This skill, even if an elite with a high cooldown, gives such an amazing escape tool that it makes thieves cry.

You see the interesting thing about pets vs other minions, is that for the most part your not really punished that much for the loss of other minions, because for the most part they are a momentary boost to their base power, or confined only to utility slots.
- Clones and Phantasms while being a core mechanic, are rapidly created and destroyed and can even be traited to use conditions on death, and are only used while in combat. They also covey the benefit of looking like you.
And so their limited AI does not hinder them beyond standing out from the player.
- Turrets are stationary, so they don’t suffer from any of the movement problems with AI, thou they do have some targeting issues. They also can be traited to do damage on death.
- Elementals are fairly powerful if simple, but they covey the benefit of having several elementals ties to only a couple of skills.
- Minions suffer from many of the same issues as pets and for the same reasons.
However they can also be traited to deal damage on death, but at the end of the day they are optional.
- Spirit Weapons fall into a similar category as above, trading power for longevity.
When taken as a whole, most summons are either optional, or temporary in nature, usually with some sort of benefit that can be traited for on death.
The Ranger pet however doesn’t get these benefits, and you have to suffer from every problem the comes with having them out at all times.
If they die, you lose a hefty chunk of your damage output, and there is never an upside to this.Of course unlike optional minions the add to your overall power, minus utility slots, pet’s subtract from your power in order to equalize the overall amount.
So your weaker by a fairly considerable amount if your pet either dies, or is unable to function because of AI issues, which by now we have all experienced.-
So, how about taking a page from other more successful attempts at AI minions when discussing pets?
Such as perhaps instead of being permanently out at all times, they functioned more like a cross between Elemental summons and Phantasms.
You summon them, they do a bunch of damage or support/tanking for a short duration, then go away. If they die, they can be traited for on death effects.
While on cooldown or in storage if you will, they have some other skill the becomes available for the F2 slot, like the Engineers utilities skills. That way you could fix several problems in one foal swoop.
You wouldn’t have to worry about pathing, since they are temporary the likely won’t be around that long.
Pet death is not longer as crippling as it is, so them dying in AOE due to not knowing not to isn’t as much of an issue.
The damage percentage they take from the Ranger can be given back, at least in part, taking the new design of pets into account, ala clones and phantasms.
As long as they can then reliably deal the damage they need to, or whatever role the pet is meant to, then being temporary would be a much greater asset then being permanent.
Give this man a cookie.
Passive conditions
Seriously:
What about conditions is so passive? They don’t last that long, you know? You use skills to apply them.
Sssh, you will ruin the fun.
@OP: I have to ask, this was in hot join or not?
I just want to throw in that Necromancers was advertised also as a attrition, sustain based class and it became a ranged condi nuker. Just sayin.
On topic:
This whole sustained damage thingy should be throw out in the window. Every class should(!) have options to play a more spike oriented way or give up some burst to get some extra sustain from their builds. Of course condi builds are slower by their nature, but with a main hand axe ranger is already in a decent position with it.
Don’t go hybrid or condi in pve.
the content that actually challenges you and puts your skill into test is not very rewarding (PvP, fractals, etc…) yet the mindless content designed only to keep you playing the game endlessly like a drone is the most rewarding (dungeons, LS)
And people log back every 2 weeks for their shiny. Working as intended.
Found a pic of the player with the most achievement points in GW2. Here he is enjoying the LS.
Doesn’t matter had s … shiny.
How much gem would it cost that is acceptable by you?
1. Debuging topic.
2. Guys, are you watching the ranger CDI? Im rather pessimistic about the changes now IF we get on these conversations in the near future. :/
tl;dr of that topic:
Players suggestions → Reaction from Anet.
Fix AI. ? Can’t and / or don’t want.
Remove AI. ? Can’t and / or don’t want.
I used Feedback to support my allies with projectile reflection, but i didn’t geared and traited for defense, oh wait …

Don’t forget, that warrior isn’t overpowered, just a bit overtuned, but they actually in a very good spot now with guardians. They just overshadows other classes and points out while they are underperforming.
Even if guardians for example aren’t as versatile as warriors and can’t use that many weapons (less choice = less diversity), but in their role they are beyond awesome.
Fix AI. → Can’t and / or don’t want.
Remove AI. → Can’t and / or don’t want.
Is this still the situation in the past few days or something actually happened that i’m not aware of?
Don’t offend “pve players in better gear”, that makes you only pathetic.
You used a bad build, even possible that in a bad way. See above and try builds that are actually working. End of story.
#officialgrumpynecro
I still have no idea how he managed to lose. I wish i had that much CC and heal on a necro.
I will just drop these here to not mess up the topic with a wall of text. I hope somebody finds something useful tought from a non-ranger. And don’t give up guys!
I don’t want to sound offensive, but your build is bad, your attitude is bad, your thinking is bad. Take a rest gesho. Farewell!
All I see on this topic is alot of necros that dont want to get nerfed
All that necromancers see are bad players who loves to complain.
It’s funny because the gear grind here is worse than it is in WoW.
Ugh, nothing is worse than the grind in WoW. Raid for months and months hoping against hope for your item with a teensy tiny drop rate chance to drop, then when it finally does, you have to roll on it against all the trolls that want to shard it in front of you.
All this is before you can play the current content. Then 6 months later they drop a new raid and you have to do it all over again!
Gold raids weren’t popular where you played? Simply buying the stuff you need and earn money while raiding was the best gearing option i had in a MMO.
