New "Mark as Junk" feature

When you right click on an item, add a “Mark as Junk” option. After marking an item as junk, pressing the “Sell Junk” button at a sell vendor will also auto-sell any junk-marked items.

Junk-Marked items will have a little trash-bin icon on the corner to indicate you’ve marked it as junk at some point, to avoid confusion and mistakes.

The marks can be persistent, remembering the name, and quality of items you’ve marked, so future identical items remain marked. For example, once you mark that white dagger for auto-selling, you’ll never have to mark it again. Future drops of it will be marked and can be sold with a single button press.

If you want something more mobile, go shouts

Banners are the only set of skills in the entire game, that restricts your mobility so drastically.

It’s not an issue of them being less mobile than shouts, its an issue of them being less mobile than anything else in the entire game.

Anyone who thinks that MF does not hurt the group for selfish gains, is most likely lying, and probably hopes the system goes unchecked so they can continue to leech.

Power, Prec, Tough, Vit… all other stats help the party in some way.
-Power/Condi/Prec add more DPS, meaning mobs die faster.
-Tough/Vit extend your own survival, less time your party needs to spend picking you up and less danger they have to put themselves in to do so
-Healing/Boon+ is obvious

Magic find leeches one of these stats and instead gives you bonus loot. So now you’re down roughly 1000 power. Thats a big chunk of missing DPS that the rest of the party must pick up the slack for. Or 1000 toughness, now you’re going to get KO’d easy, and someone will have to spend time and take a risk to help you.

“But I’m so good that I do better in MF than most players without it!”
First of all BS. No you’re not. Get over it.
Secondly, even if that were true, you’re still performing less than your best. However good you are doing in MF gear, you could be doing even better with non-MF gear. You are underperforming, willfully, for personal gain.

Your magic find % appears as a buff, and provides it’s bonus to the entire party (divided by the number of players present).

Here’s my take on a rework of this skill:

-Reduce the cooldown to 60 seconds.
-Remove the duration. Instead, have it drain 1 strike of adrenaline every 1 second. When the adrenaline runs out, the transformation ends, and the cooldown begins. Can be cancelled early by pressing 0 again.
-Allow all skills to function normally (6, 7, 8, 9)
-Add an F1 Burst skill. No idea what, but obviously this skill will drain all remaining adrenaline, ending the transformation after use.
-Remove the stability buff. Instead, while in this form gain 1 stack of determination every 3 seconds, up to 3 stacks max.

What do you think?

Too many people complain about the good events. I’ll be honest, the first southsun cove sucked huge kitten. But IMHO that is the only mini-expansion that has deserved the sort of flaming that seems to pop up every time ANet releases… well, anything.

Wintersday was tons of fun, and that CTF snowball PvP game was epic.
Molten alliance was fairly enjoyable.
The southsun cove part 2 was sorta meh, but not bad by any means; Crab toss was a bit underwhelming but nothing that warranted angrily storming the forum with bricks and moltov kittentails like some people did.
I missed 95% of the halloween event so cant comment there.
Superadventure box was unique and retro-y.

So far dragon bash seems like a nice little mini-expansion, and dragonball is easy enough to get the hang of. Not quite as cool as the snowball pvp (see what i did there?) but still fun.

What Can You Do With A LB?

I backpack swap a longbow for WvW. You’ll never kill an individual with it in a 1v1 or 2v2. But in a zerg vs zerg, its our only real source of ranged AOE.

I tried a hilarious self-made build once, with 30 discipline, TWO longbows (for adrenal swap and sigil swaps), signet of fury, and zerker stance. Basically I was spamming my Adrenaline skill nonstop, trying to tag everything in sight.

I got a lot of WvW loot bags that day.

@Daecollo: No ones saying a banner fix would be a magical cure that would make warriors suddenly super viable. But banners are plain “broken.” Not so broken they’re unusable, of course. But what they are is….

Clunky: Ever try to manage 2-3 banners in WvW? Hell, even in a dungeon moving from fight to fight or across a large room? Picking them up can be a huge pain, especially if you run more than 1 at a time.

Glitchy: Half the time when you quick-drop a banner, it starts your weapon-swap cooldown.

Time Consuming: Compared to any other support skills, banners cannot be easily and simply used. They must first be summoned, then picked up, and THEN their ability can be used. Then you must put it down and resume fighting. Want to use it again? Go ahead and pick it back up, then use the ability, and put it down again. Compared to Shout warriors and guardians, who can even use their support abilities WHILE swinging, this is a monumental waste of time.

Half-useless: Yes, my suggestion scraps the #5 ability, slamming the banner for a blast finisher. So what?! Unless you HAVE the banner in your hand already, you’re never going to be able to run over to it, pick it up, run into the combo field, and #5 slam it for a blast finisher in time. The combo field will have faded by then. And even if you did, the time spent is not worth it. You’d have been better off just auto attacking with your weapon. If you’re waiting to summon it for a blast finisher, you’re wasting time that it could be out and providing bonuses. Same goes for standing around holding it, waiting for the chance to blast finisher it instead of fighting.

Ground Items: Aside from the clunky nature, this means they interfere with other fun mechanics like those scattered ground items all over. Metal bars, planks, moa feathers, and some gun/weapon/misc items you need to pick up and carry around during events.

Banners: Powerful but clunky and requires you to babysit them. They get left behind, lost, stolen. You waste time picking up and dropping them constantly.

My (reposted) suggestion?
Have them work using a toggle on/off system, somewhat like engineer toolkits. When toggled on, the banner is displayed on your characters back, and provides its passive bonuses to allies within range. Your #1-5 remain unchanged however, instead the F3 and F4 buttons become available. F3 is Inspire (functioning exactly like it is now, banner #3), and F4 is the banner specific skill (currently banner #2). Only one banner may be active at a time, and toggling off/swapping banners will incur a 30 second cooldown. Banners can no longer be dropped, lost, stolen, etc.

For the elite banner, which functions slightly differently…
F4: Nearby downed allies immediately rally, CT 2, CD 240, Uses Ground Targeting.

In light of the arguments and some warriors expressing their desire for banners to remain as-is, I’ve decided that it would be win-win if this proposed functionality be available via a trait.

I have a love/hate relationship with banners.

See, they’re great support tools, but you spend so much time managing and babysitting them, you hardly have any free time for actual fighting. Or else they get left behind/stolen. Thank god they at least fixed the item-pick-up-autorun bug a while back. If only banners worked more like the engineer toolkits, or the engineer toolbelt, they might be way easier and more fun to manage…. sigh

Shouts on the other hand, always originate from where you are. And they’re insta-cast.

Unless you get your kicks spending all day picking up, dropping, resummoning, and carrying banners instead of actually attacking and fighting while insta-casting your support skills/aoe heals, a shout build is MUCH more fun than a banner build.

FIX: Those RNG boxes everyone rages about...

First off, RNG is RNG. If you buy a properly advertised random box and it doesn’t contain what you hoped for, tough. You bought your lotto ticket and it was not a winner.

Now that that’s out of the way…

ANET, a token-currency with a 100% drop rate inside each gemstore RNG box, that can be spent to buy the random drops, might be a happy middle ground.

That way, people can gamble with their RNG boxes, but there is still a threshold where they are guaranteed to get the item they desire.

This probably would ease a lot of the kitten.

I’m so tired of people kittening about gambling and losing.

RNG is RNG.

People dont gamble because they like to gamble, people gamble cause they like to win.

If people were smart, they wouldn’t waste money on random chance. Yes, you could possibly win the jackpot, but odds are you will not.

Statistically speaking, gambling is always the incorrect decision. Here’s a very simple example: If you play just Black or Red, your odds of winning at Roulette and doubling your bet is ~47%, and losing is 53%.

This means, statistically speaking, you will end up losing money. And Roulette actually has some of the the LEAST unfavorable odds. I dare you to find a casino game with odds that DONT favor the house.

Spoiler Alert: They dont exist!

But why then do casinos exist? Why is there this gambling in the world, be it an airport slot machine or a box of randomized loot in a videogame?

Because people buy it. And as long as you are willing to spend your money, they’re willing to sell it to you.

ANET did not mislabel or misrepresent, they clearly stated it was RNG, thus your only gripe should be with your own decision.

Consider yourself lucky you likely only wasted a pittance, and look at this as a learning experience. It’s a much cheaper version of the lesson thousands of people learn every day at Las Vegas.

TL;DR The people who complain about the problem, are the cause!!

I feel the longbow should be a range of 1200 by default.
Please, remove the two longbow traits (bowstrings and burning damage), and replace with a trait more consistent with the other weapon traits.

Longbow Mastery: Reduce CD’s by 20%, and increase longbow damage against burning or immobilized foes by 10%.

Why?
Well, its a LONG bow. Why is its range short? The ranger longbow is 1200 by default, with a trait to boost it to 1500. That 1500 might be overkill for a warrior but a 1200 is fair.

@daecollo, 50% is a giant heal, something more along the lines of what anyone would expect a guardian to be doing.

I dont get where you see 50% healing on mending. My mending is worth about 6k, of my 20k healthpool pool. That’s 30%.

Plus, there’s a bit of a catch to that statement, compared to a guardian. You can effectively multiply a classes healing by their ability to mitigate damage to calculate their sustainability.

For example, if a guardian can heal back 6k and maintain protection for an extended time, they’ve taken 33% less damage. Throw in an aegis or 2, and that 6k Guard heal, is now the equiv of an almost 8k War heal. So not only can certain classes heal for more raw numbers, those numbers are effectively multiplied by their other defensive mechanisms as well.

A large part of warrior sustain issues are not JUST the unimpressive raw numbers, it’s the defenses we employ to mitigate, that are lacking.

As an experiment, my Guard friend and I both wearing Knights gear, took turns and GS facetanked a Champ mob. No dodges allowed. Less than 30 seconds in I was on the verge of death. The Guards turn came, and he was able to stand there and maintain himself indefinitely without breaking a sweat.

Only the devs know for sure. All I have to go by are a few vague statements about making adrenaline and burst skills see more use.

From that, one can assume that means less of an incentive to sit mindlessly on an orange bar and more of an incentive to use burst skills. Speculating even further, a nerf/removal/revamp of passive adrenaline skills, a buff to burst skills, and possibly even effects linked to earning adrenaline.

Now, that’s a lot of speculation with minimal evidence, mind you, but it paints a very pretty picture doesn’t it?

currently Adrenal Health grants 360 hp per 3 seconds, if wiki is to be believed. which seems better than Regeneration 130 + (0.125 * Healing Power) per second.

360/3=120 hps. Regen is slightly stronger.

Now it does have the advantage of being a trait and not a boon, but you need to sit on your adrenaline for it to function. The devs have stated they wish to make adrenaline more usable. Thus you wont be sitting on adren, you’ll be using your bursts. In that scenario, adrenal health would be useless in it’s current form.

It really blew my mind when I first realized I wasn’t just unable to find where the duel button was hidden… but that there WAS no duel button. WoW (IMO, a worse game though not for lack of duels) even had them back in the old school days.

I’m all for adding in a duel option.

I’m also all for adding in an “auto-deny duels” checkbox for those who want nothing to do with duels.

Incoming Burst Revamp

Rumors for a reworking of burst skills seem all but confirmed, and so here are my thoughts on an ideal (IMO of course) version of the system:

Rework: Berserkers Might/Fury Traits: Removed, and a weaker version of the trait rolled into the base adrenaline system, +2% DPS/Crit @1 bar, +4% @2 bars, and +6% @3 bars.

Rework: Adrenal Health: Every time you earn 1 or more strikes of adrenaline, you gain regeneration for 2 seconds. Stacks duration.

Rework: Adrenal Surge: Heal, and gain the Surge buff, which causes regular attacks to generate an additional strike of adrenaline for the next 10 seconds.

Rework: Mending: Heal, and remove all conditions. Each condition removed grants you a strike of adrenaline.

New Defense Trait: Steadfast Rage: Using a burst skill grants you 2 seconds of protection per adrenal bar spent.

I’d also really like to see a new F2 burst skill implemented, based on your offhand/2handed weapon. Below are some suggestions I cooked up a while back:

Greatsword
F2 – Blade Cyclone: Spin in a circle, releasing a fiery shockwave that damages and burns nearby foes. Combo Field Fire, {2/3/4} Seconds, AOE Range 600

Axe
F2 – Dismember: A quick strike that hacks off a chunk of an opponents armor, leaving them more vulnerable to attacks for a short time. No damage, applies Vulnerability {5/10/15} for 10 seconds, Range 130, CT 1/4

Mace
F2 – Dustbowl: Slams your weapon into the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust, sand, ice, or dirt, blinding and confusing nearby foes for {1/2/3} seconds. Combo Field Smoke, {2/3/4} seconds, AOE Range 450.

Sword
F2 – Trailblazer: Charge forward, striking, burning, and bleeding all foes in a line, and leaving behind a trail of fire. Combo Field Fire, {1/2/3} seconds. Range 900.

Longbow
F2 – Infused Arrow: Charge an arrow with intense flames, before launching it at an enemy. On contact, the arrow will explode, knocking down all foes within 130 of the blast. CT 1.5

Rifle
F2 – Covering Fire: Lay down an extremely rapid fire volley of bullets, striking foes in a tight cone every second, for 5 seconds. Every hit has a 10% chance to inflict cripple for 1 second. CT 5/Channeled.

Hammer
F2 – Unheaval: Slams the ground, damaging foes and creating a ring of upturned earth thats impassible for {2/4/6} seconds and obscures ranged attacks in or out. CT 3/4.

Shield
F2 – Shield Wall: Enter a stance where you block all attacks for {1/2/3} seconds, but may continue to attack and use skills. During shield wall, damage you inflict during is reduced by 25%, and generates no adrenaline.

Warhorn
F2 – Shatter Eardrums: An instantaneous sonic shockwave that dazes all nearby foes for {1/1.5/2} seconds. CT 0, Range 450.

Think about it, if you’re coming off as somewhat of a troll to a fellow warrior with a similar viewpoint, imagine how others must feel? I have heard these rumors of warrior change, and let me tell you, that’s not a greatsword in my pocket.

A burst revamp would be very welcome.
Sitting on 3 bars for +12% DPS and 9% Crit is mechanically sound, but uninteresting, and adds little gameplay. I think it’d be better to roll in a weaker version of the effects baseline (say 2%/4%/6% DPS/Crit?) and replace those talents with something more interesting, that either encourages or allows for more uses of burst skills. Adrenal health will need a rework.

A much needed sustain buff is coming, hurray!!

Condition removal is slated to increase slightly
Overall good, I don’t really mind our “weakness” being conditions all that much, every class needs something they’re poor at. Condis are sort of our silver bullet, and so long as we get solid sustain, I wont be kitten if that remains so.

In PvE, any good player can avoid 90% of all damage by just knowing the fight, and keeping their finger on the dodge button. This has nothing to do with warriors specifically, and should not be used as an excuse as to why they dont need survival/sustain.

And because we cant effectively trait for survival/sustain, we may as well spec pure DPS as an alternate means of survival, which is why you see so many zerker glass cannons out there. Dead mobs dont hit back.

IMO:
Warrior base damage needs to come UP slightly
Warrior full-zerker damage needs to come DOWN slightly
Warrior base survival needs to come UP moderately
Warrior bunker-build survival needs to come UP drastically

Out of all the posts in professions section, warrior section is the only section where people are endlessly posting their ideas to replace/improve

I noticed this myself recently. The other profession forums mostly talk about their builds, individual skill uses, teamups with other classes, and finally their cool kills/teamplays/whatevers.

Warriors forum is flooded with posts about how to improve the class and make it more fun, balanced, and viable.

The natives are restless, ANet.

Almost every warrior around plays a full DPS build. I’m not surprised they die so quickly. But having high damage and low survivability is balanced. What’s broken about warriors is that there’s nothing else going for them.

That’s exactly right.

The reason you see so many glass-cannon warriors is because if we trait for damage, we can do sick damage. But die easily.

But if we trait for survival, we… still die very easily AND now we do terrible DPS.

Warrior and enemy reviving

You failed to mention a key factor: What was your 2nd weapon?

When dealing with an enemy rezzing, you have three options: Quick/Stability-spike the downed player, down the rezzer, or CC the rezzer.

Hammer is fantastic for stopping rezzers in progress
F1 Earthshaker: stuns, which interrupts rez.
#4: AOE knockback, which interrupts rez
And #5 Knockdown, which interrupts rez

You can generally Stun/Knockback/Knockdown, pop stability, and spike the downed guy before his buddy can return to rezzing.

If you were running Rifle, you can even use #5 which is a knockback, and then spike.

[BUG] Forceful Greatsword+Rush Bugged

GS #5 has always been buggy, in more ways than just this latest cooldown glitch.

Rush is just very gimmicky (AND FRUSTRATING) with its hit detection. Most times when I rush players, the swing is slow to go off and will miss entirely, or be easioly evaded. And when I rush large targets (or graveling mounds, test it in AC EXP), often it will stop and “run-in-place” just outside of melee range, before the skill times out leaving me standing there like an idiot.

On the other hand, the Guardian GS charge skill (#4) is highly responsive and virtually always hits successfully. It also blinds foes, and is a leap finisher. Same cooldown as rush btw.

Can our Rush work more like Guards leap-of-faith? At least in regards to how quick and responsive it is? Please?

Kitten and harvesting sickle animations

I find the sickle “hacking” animation is somewhat odd. Who stabs their plants? And the water geyser is alright, if not a bit strange and out of place.

But the casting time REALLY should be set to match the normal harvesting sickles. It’s just frustrating.

Warriors have a higher base HP, but that’s not much of an argument for, or against buffing healing signet. A high base HP protects versus spike damage but only counts for an extra 2 seconds of survival in a sustain battle, in which some classes can regen and survive nearly forever.

Healing signet is (supposed to be) all about sustain, giving up burst healing for steady recovery. In that sense, I feel the pros and cons should be as such:

Pro:
Passive HP Regen
No Cast Time
Highest HPS heal skill

Con:
No Regen when on CD
Poor burst healing
Weak versus high poison uptime

Why are we a glutton for punishment?

My biggest issue is that even with 30 points into defense, it didnt make me feel survivable, it only made me feel SLIGHTLY less like im wearing paper mache. I’m not a zerker build either, btw. Why is our sustain so poor?

I’ve tried a full bunker warrior build before. It’s inferior to a full guardian/elementalist bunker in every way that really matters.

The sustain was much lower than needed to survive even a single average opponent for very long. The only opponents that cannot wear you down quickly, are other bunkers. Some ele, engy, and guard builds can bunker 2-3 opponents for a prolonged time, AND possibly even score a kill on one of them.

And therein lies the main issue for warriors, our Sustain, IE, prolonged survival and health recovery.

Having a high base HP is great for spike/burst damage, but does not translate into survival during long fights. Any battle lasting more than a few seconds.

Going for bunker on Guard for example, grants you the ability to mitigate and recover a certain amount of damage, done via Toughness and Protection reducing damage, and Healing. A good bunker build can mitigate the DPS of many opponent to around the same level of HPS they can generate.

Going bunker on a warrior, however, requires complete devotion, and still yields inferior results. You must go 30 defense for survival. You must then go 30 tactics for shout or banner healing. Neither the banner nor shout healing produce enough HPS to get close to the level of sustain required to be a true bunker.

I don’t personally feel our condition removal is as bad as everyone says. It’s not amazing, sure, but I think it’s exacerbated by the lack-of-sustain issue.

Even in PvE, with my defense build, I feel the lack of sustain when doing dungeons and fractals. I take hits decently well (3.5k armor) and have no shortage of base HP, but I have a very finite supply of said HP over a fight lasting more than 5-6 seconds. Yeah I start with a lot. but once that HP of mine is gone, it’s not coming back anytime soon.

To give you another example, roaming in WvW the other night I faced a thief. The thief would hit-n-run me. We would each get about 25-30% of each others HP, and then he would vanish. About 4 seconds later, said thief would hit-n-run me again. The 2nd hit-n-run I was back to about 75% health, but he was already 100%. We each got about 30% off one another again, and he vanished. Lather rinse repeat. See below.

Timeline (slightly overgeneralized)
Hit-n-Run#1: War 100%>70% vs Thief 100%>70%
Hit-n-Run#2: War 75%>45% vs Thief 100%>70%
Hit-n-Run#3: War 50%>20% vs Thief 100%>70%
Hit-n-Run#4: War 25%>Down vs Thief 100%>70%

I’d love to have a polearm weapon, but the current warrior weapons are in a state of imbalance and I’d also love to see them fixed as well.

You make a suggestion to help warrior do better or more reliable damage, the criers will ‘correct’ you that Warrior needs more healing.

I may be one of those criers, cause I think our (greatsword) damage is alright as is. Our sustain is whats really lacking.

I’d like to see an F2 ability too but something totally different, I think we can be glass cannoney enough if we want already.

I’ll be direct, no dancing around the issue!!

1. SUSTAIN STILL SUCKS
We lack it. We need it. Suggestions:
A. Warrior heals for each strike of adrenaline earned (excluding skills like zerk stance)"
B. Healing Signet buff, passive + active
C. Access to Protection via Defense tree and Shield offhand

2. BANNERS STILL SUCK
Not cause the effects are bad, but cause they’re clunky to use, like most ground items.
A. Change them to work like an engineer toolkit. Toggle on/off. Wont affect 1-5.
B. When toggled on, F4 activates specific ability (Banner 3)
C. When toggled on, F3 activates inspire (Banner 2)

3. BURSTS STILL SUCK
Some burst skills are solid (Hammer) others never see use (Greatsword).
A. The bad ones need to be reworked.
B. A new burst skill based on OFFHAND (or twohanded) added to F2 for more options and variety.

4. TRAITS SYNERGY SUCKS
Our traits often function poorly together or not at all (with a few exceptions). They need a pretty large overhaul to get them to a perfect state.

5. WEAPON BALANCE STILL SUCKS
A. Greatsword rules all
B. Axe is solid
C. Hammer sucks except for 2 buttons
D. Sword is Condition based and thus worthless
E. Rifle is all power but has a bleed on auto
F. Longbow range is lame (Hello, LONGbow?)

6. CONDITIONAL REMOVAL STILL SUCKS
I really don’t need to go into why, do I? No? Good. Suggestions:
A. Using a burst skill breaks stun or removes 2 conditions if there was no stun
B. Mending: Heal and remove all conditions, curing an additional ~800 Health per condition removed (essentially identical to necro skill)

^ My thoughts on a banner rework.

Short version?
-Sits on back when active, toggles on/off like engy kits
-Gives AOE bonus and F3 + F4 when “on” does not change weapon 1-5
-F3 is inspire (swiftness, banner 3 currently)
-F4 is banner specific ability (banner 2 currently)

No more clunky time wasting drops and pickups, leaving behind, stolen, etc

I have to say that I like your ideas on the banners – my favorite warrior skills. But I cannot help but wonder if these changes will make them overpowered.
Isn’t the price of all the advantages a banner give, the “clunkiness” you describe?

I have actually considered that.

To compensate, the stats on the banners I suggested above are slightly lower than the ones on the live banners. For example, live is 170 healing and 10% boon duration, while the one I suggested (tactics banner) is 100 heal, 10% boon. My suggested duration on inspire was reduce from live to compensate for its ease of use too. Finally, only a single banner can be active at a time, whereas before you could drop 3 banners and warbanner and get all the buffs (in theory anyway, though the reality is they get stolen in WvW, left behind in mobile fights or when AOE-death-rings appear, etc).

In my opinion (yours may vary) they’d balance out fairly nicely.

Why not “Heal when you gain a strike of adrenaline?” grandmaster trait. Would actually give us a reason to use burst.

Love it, as does most of this thread.

Also probably need a clause to limit it to a single strike worth of healing when it comes to quick adren boosters like weapon swap, fury signet, zerker stance, etc.
