I’ve never once used the gate lever. Just do as Erus suggested and jump down from above.

its still bugged and it should still be reported about, even if you dont use it. Hell i didnt even know about the workaround, the first and only time id explored that zone was on my guardian for world completion in the first few months and it worked then.

If you look at the News page (left hand tab, top left of this page), they’ve just put up a behind the scenes look at Ms. Cox’s role at ANet. This line seems relevant to the discussion in this thread:

“For example, armor sets are now exclusively designed as in-game rewards while outfits are primarily Gem Store offerings.”

Thank. The. Legions. No really, thank the legions for that. That is how it should be!

Id rather wait till HOT and get a whole bunch of new armor skins for free just by playing, than have to buy any of them with real money, and i buy almost all the weapon skins that get added to the gemstore.

Personal Story Restoration update

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Dante.1763

Dante.1763

It’s been roughly eight weeks since I started this thread, so here’s an update. All major assets for the Personal Story restoration are in place in our development environment. We’re testing and bug fixing now.

While I don’t have an official release date to share at this time, I can say that you have a little more time to get your characters into the desired state of Personal Story progress. Please refer to the details in the original post when making your own evaluation.

You might be asking yourself why I don’t have a date to share yet. It’s because we’re looking at a few potential release dates on the calendar. We also want to factor in some wiggle room in case we discover any big issues during our testing pass or we encounter any other technical or resource surprises along the way. You know, game development stuff.

As always, thanks for your patience and support.

Thank you so much for that update!

ANET - Give us new armor skins, not Outfits

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

My preference is for armor to be released in the game and outfits to be released in the gemstore. I imagine they’ve got their artists working on assets for Heart of Thorns right now, and that’s why we haven’t seen many newer sets of late. That being said, the dearth of content/updates is really not helping maintain any interest in the game, and that ties in to the last armor set being lumi.

This is mine as well, id rather have armor be in the game and outfits in the gemstore.

"DragonHunter" name feedback [merged]

Inquisitor
This is my short proposal about how some easy adjustments to the ‘dragonhunter’ e-spec works for an ‘inquisitor’ e-spec. I have discussed the advantages of the ‘inquisitor’ name over the ‘dragonhunter’ earlier in this thread, so I won’t repeat myself: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/DragonHunter-name-feedback-merged/5078126.

Weapon Skills: Weapon skills need minimal tweaks, and even then, these changes not necessary for an inquisitor e-spec. I would just recommend renaming “Symbol of Energy” to “Symbol of Searing” and “Hunter’s Ward” to maybe “Seeker’s Ward.”

Heal, Utility, and Elite Skills: It turns out that the utility skills are more appropriate for an inquisitor motif than a dragonhunting one: e.g. Purification, Fragments of Faith, Light’s Judgment, Test of Faith, and Procession of Blades. So what of “Dragon’s Maw”? I don’t think that the animation needs to change, but it could simply be renamed to “Inquisitor’s Verdict.”

Traits: The traits would need to be given greater thematic cohesion for the inquisitor e-spec.
- Minor Traits: Virtuous Action, Defender’s Dogma, and Pure of Sight
- Adept Traits: Repenter’s Blood (Piercing Light), Zealot’s Aggression, Wings of Wrath (Soaring Devastation)
- Master Traits: Unwavering Zeal (Hunter’s Determination), Shield of Faith (Bulwark), Inquisitor’s Mark (Dulled Senses)
- Grandmaster Traits: Confessor’s Grace (Hunter’s Fortification), Faith’s Repulsion (Heavy Light), Foebane (Big Game Hunter)

E-Spec Weapon and Armor Skins: The inquisitor armor could be a helm that mostly hid the face, being reminiscent of an executioner’s hood. The inquisitor weapon would be a longbow made to look similar to balancing scales (of justice). No such longbow exists in the game with such a motif. What of the preexisting dragonhunter longbow? ArenaNet can sell the dragonhunter longbow skin on the Trading Post. The gloves could be integrated into a dragon-motif heavy armor or outfit.

Wow i like that alot! :O

This is the problem with ‘Power’ levelling.

People who ignore map completion as a way of levelling and go to EotM or wherever else have made rods for their own backs.

You can easily get 25% – 40% map completion if you’d levelled via map completing instead of the popular, ‘short term quick fixes’ to levelling.

Yup! My 12 characters(minus the one i just created yesterday) have all been leveled in PVE, with dungeons as well, but mostly pure map exploration, all have 30-50% done by the time they get to 80!

I feel like that is so many of these posts. There are some good suggestions, but then people make their post or points silly by arguing that it’s a bad name when it’s really a fine name, just not the absolute best that could be given (in the same vein that some of the other elite spec names aren’t really the best they could be).

Pretty much what Obtena said, just without the rudeness! its the(well most of the peoples in this forums opinion) that its a bad name, its not a fact really, just their opinion and i dont think it can hurt to throw out suggestions for a different one, they just need to be presented as the one you quoted, if they want to be taken seriously, why i havent really thrown out any more names, just listing a name isnt good enough.

Seems to me allowing access to the rewards people worked for should trump protecting the exclusivity of those rewards.

Some people worked for the rewards because they liked the skin, title, or pet, and wanted to use them on their GW2 characters. Others worked for the rewards because they wanted some GW1 bragging right that no one else really cares about.

ArenaNet, please think of the first group.

Read the last three? i think responses, they are very very true. The damage to this is contained right now, but if they enable the HoM it will be insanely hard to fix what is already a challenging fix.

To the person who quoted me earlier, you dont know me then(Obviously), i have this thing called patience. I waited 2 months for a class mechanic to be fixed, im willing to wait longer for a skin(yes a pet is just a skin) to be gotten. Maybe if someone had a compelling alternative inline with Anet’s concept instead of throwing out derivative synonyms for Guardian as a name, their might be something worth discussing. In fact, if people were less lazy and contributed with an approach like Nike’s thread where he suggests Dragonbane as a name, there is actually a change that Anet might give you some of their time.

Obtena is right though, even though he/she is a little rude. There have been compelling proposals(if i remember right) in this thread, but they where ignored by people just repeating “I dont like Dragonhunter, it doesnt fit”. If you want the name changed think of a new one and propose it like Nike did. Heck i even proposed my own in his thread, The Pyrshunter, Pyrs being an old english word for Monster/Giant/Deamon, and while obscure it follows what ANET was aiming for, and IMO sounds rather unique.

Your made up numbers dont make me any less upset. Because thats all they are, made up numbers. Lets say out of 3 million accounts only 10,000 got this bug.

Over the two months (lets say 62 days) they would need to fix 161 accounts a day (if it were only ONE person doing this) Lets say there working 10 hours a day, thats 16 accounts an hour.

16 accounts an hour/ 161 accounts a day is far more reasonable. I like my made up numbers better then yours.

Either way, I would rather them do this the easy way.. here it is.. UNLOCK THE HoM VENDOR! omg so difficult?.. Then when they make their widespread achievement/title remover, they can just tack on a skin remover and be set. Then they can take 10 years to fix this crap and not effect the people who actually EARNED their skins.

Id rather wait so those that didnt earn them cant use them period Im waiting too so i can get my ranger pets. But ya know what, id rather wait than have more players running around with stuff they didnt earn.

Ive actually played WvW a bit. It was somewhat fun, but it was also somewhat monotonus. Some of the things about the map design seem like they may have flaws, but the op here seems more against the very idea of change, or complexity within the large scale combat part of things (Terrain, chokepoints, objectives with varying values, coordinated assaults, etc) With that as the main complaint, i dont see how WvW can ever improve or be varied.

I was getting the same thoughts, but because of my limited WVW experience(Mainly because my server is like..on the bottom of the tiers, however you find that out), i really dont know. But i do know that the the new map actually sparked a bit of interest in me to give it another try.

The thing is that ambients are all over the world, so you need to cull a lot to prevent them from simply moving to the next spot.

Also, some ambients are a vital part of the game. They contribute to the ambience. culling them back would change that. And for what? some people misusing an option that is supposed to be a fun gag. I think that in this situation there is lil reason for compromising with those that ruined the gag in the first place.

Lets not let a few ruin it for everyone….i have 125 balms that i havent used yet, that i plan on using at some point. I agree with culling the ambients slightly. They might help the games ambiance but theres no need for 10+ frogs in a small area…nerfing the respawn times alone would help as well.

“Um” that youtube video was a link to an event that happened literally one time. That’s entirely not what I was referring to and I really doubt the dev team has time to personally take over every account that violates the rules and fling them off of a cliff.
If you’ve ever played GW1, you’d know about the giant demi-god reaper guy that was scripted to appear and hack away people who get banned. It’s THAT kind of thing that I was referring to.

Law abiding Charr should be fine. It’s the shady drifter Charr that hang out in back alleys and sell questionable goods that should worry! And I know it’s not a priority. I was just hoping they’d have something in the future maybe. But I guess it would attract some negative attention to make getting banned almost fun.

I vote to have a giant Quggan appear and devour them in front of everyone. Then yell out “Quaggon hates cheaters, Fooooo”

I’m going to call bull-gravy, absent proof. This does not fit my memory of the sequence. As I recall, ANet was surprised that people wanted more PvE stuff to do, which is why Sorrow’s Furnace was put in.

It started out as a complete PvP game with some minor PvE as a “tutorial”, but sometime during Alpha they figured out that people wanted PvE, that is why they added a whole freaking PvE storyline to the game (which was all in all bigger than the available PvP-types at launch).

Not only that, but they also then did two other full releases and an expansion all about the PVE, with some PVP included.

Saying ‘could’ care less means that you care, but have the capacity to care less, ’couldn’t’ care less means you’ve bottomed out with interests and have no lower to go.

“I could care less” is actually correct grammar. It’s the American way of using the phrase “I couldn’t care less”. It’s no less wrong than writing color over colour or honor over honour.

Limiting it to RNG was my problem, because there are people who could(like me) make every single one of those test hours and didnt get a portal drop, and then there are people like my dad, who got a portal drop in the first 10 minutes of being out in SW but cant make it because he works.

I’m not sure why you guys want hard content in open world, that’s asking for a nightmare of logistic. A bunch of casual will stumble onto open world hard content, wipe the group because the boss will scale and then the casual players will spend the rest of their gaming evening receiving salty insults, death threats or whatever other nonsense angry competitive gamers can do.

WoW has hard content but they put it in raid instances so guilds can deal with people not pulling their weight. But with world events, the hardworking guilds have no control over who gets to do an encounter so this is just going to ruin the community and promote elitism.

I think it’s about time Arenanet kills the “zerk-only” meta and introduces raids to their game so people who want really hard content can get it without ruining the community because an open world event was ruined by a bunch of newbies.

Much like Tequatl was when it was first introduced you mean? Now look at it, ive failed it once in the past 4 months, Once. When it was released it failed every single day. The people in this game can learn you know.

That’s interesting. I do think Anet would avoid such an obscure reference though. Perhaps something more nordic in origin? They have alot of dragon mythology.

Thats what i was thinking, but i figured i would throw it out there anyways! They do at that, ill look around when i get home from work!

What about þyrshunter?(http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/%C3%BEyrs#Old_English) Its old english for monster/giant/demon, it doesnt change the theme of the class it all, instead adding to it(imo). They wanted a “Big” game hunter, well in GW2 we have Giants, Wurms, Ettins, Jotuns, Mordremoth Hulks, Risen floating eyes not just dragons to go after, most of those can be seen as Monsters or even Daemons depending on who you where to talk to. To me at least, the word “Pyrs” Fits more than dragon because of its implication, though i have doubts if it would work in GW2.

(i know this is about Dragonbane, but i didnt want to throw it into the other thread….if ya dont want it here, i will delete it though )
