You cannot see an entire expansion as an item in a cash shop.
Your view is incredibly twisted.
You said what i was going to say in like… 1/8 of the words..
Seeker, Sentinel, Warden. Amended my list because i want the paragon to be a thing for if they ever(Hopefully) bring spears onto land.
The only thing that needs fixing is the kitten proportions of the armor.
And it’s not just the tail, but the fact that most armor leaves the neck completely void of protection, and my god those boots are so freaking squished.
The stance doesn’t need to be changed. I like my hunched over charr – it’s how any non-Shaman (read: Monk, Elementalist, and Ritualist professions’ models) was in GW1.
Unless my memory fails me, while the wiki uses the standing straight up posture for mesmer models, they and necromancers were hunched over most of the time, stand upright only for a few spellcasting (much like GW2 charr).
You are if i recall correct on that, id have to fire up GW1 to confirm, but i do believe ya are right, especially the ones added in GWEN.
Paragon, Sentinel and Warden would be my three picks. Since we must narrow it down, those are what ill go with.
This is what charr is like in gw1, 99% of them. Pyre fierceshot is worst example.
They also move like humans.Did you not read any posts above? The shamans stood upright…
And quite literally only them, anything else hunched over, some of them worse than Pyre even.. Edit: With links, really go look through the wiki for GW1.

And most of the Charr mobs in GW1 consist of multiple warriors and 1 mage, Entire groups of warriors and rangers and no mages, and a few groups of straight up mages. Most of what i can remember fighting in GW1 was those annoying axe fiends, oooooo i hated those things.

Dont worry, it will come in the gem store for only 99 dollars a piece.
Honestly would not be surprised….
I’m trying to figure out the armor pieces from the video. It’s hard with dull dark colors on a dark though burning background. But it does seem likely they’ll put the Grenth hood back in the gem store …
Shoulders are Arah, i can tell you that much
See, hes a troll, everyone out.
I agree, the price of them has been exploding recently. They are at 8g already.
I found 3 Giant Eyes in over 8k hours of playtime. They are too rare for an ingredient you need 250 off for a single skin.
You need 250 of them for a skin? Well, that makes sense now..Sheesh, i didnt realize you needed that many of them, but kitten ! buff that drop rate or something!
Just thought about, if anything the fact that the shouts damage enemies is even closer to the Warhammer 40k Eldar Banshees than i thought, this is going to be epic!
No offense.
You obviously NEVER played Guild Wars 1, so don’t start like you know the race inside-out.
The Charrs that looked closer to a human standing posture were Flame Legion Shamans/Monks/Ele/Necro:

The Race is done correctly and fits the Charrs from GW 1. The only problem is that Anet always create armors on humans then export them to Charr without really working on the textures and models. That’s why I only play warrior on my Charr and couldn’t keep up with the leather thief. At least in heavy armor there are some interesting stuff.
If it wasn’t for the dudes playing 90% of the time human/norn females to see plastic boobs maybe Anet could have worked a bit more on Charr’s armor.
But since 2012 it hasn’t changed and even new added armors have the tail clipping issue.Yeah that Charrmour.
Gawd that brings back memories, i remember hating the charr then!(still wanted to play them) but they are awesome now! Awesome how time changes things! Yup glad they changed them to be even taller, they look much nicer now!
So glad i have on of everything at 80 xD
I like the charr the way they are, but I seriously think Anet got very lazy with the light t1 and t2 cultural armors. They need a rework.
T3 Cultural armor light pants first please. TAIL CLIPPINGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!
I expect more people would be satisfied leaving one post of their thoughts if others didn’t try to argue they are wrong. Then again, I’m probably wrong.
And it wouldn’t be a discussion.
Pretty much this yes, when other people come in and “NO YOU ARE WRONG” its going to lead to arguments. This thread could honestly have been kept simple and probably half is long as if people had came in had stated their side and then left.
1.) I dont like it: Reasons why.
2.) i do like it: reasons why.
that is how the responses in this thread should have been, but as always in a feedback thread there will be arguments that break out.
It’s sad that poor Charr and Tengu’s spines de-evolved over the time since GW1. :<
Thank goodness they did, because at least they can stand realistically now. In GW1 they woulda toppled over because of how top heavy they where. The tengu i agree with though, there was no reason to hunch them over that i can think of.
Nice negative and positive feedback guys!
I know the title is kinda misleading i dont want them to be reworked just add more creation options.
I realise they are PARTLY beasts but for me they seem to be very human in a way. I mean they built huge warmachines and cities. That is why I think they should also look partly beastly and thus the flame legion charr looks best imo. I did not post this to complain about how much I hate A-Nets design choice. I was just trying to get some feedback from you guys.Buuuuuuuut no matter what I just do not like the four leg running animation XD
They are not human at all to be honest, Yes they built citys..RECENTLY, until recently they lived in tents and ruins and places they destroyed and captured, they lived more like beasts than they do now from what i remember in GW1. All the things they built are recent Iron legion things and honestly without them id think we would still see Charr living in tents and closer to the Mongolians than we would now.
Edit: Them being the Iron Legion, the builders of the Black Citadel..and the seige engines and tanks and other things..Blood and Ash dont build those things, Flame legion certainly doesnt, only Iron Legion knows how to.
A simple toggle option that stays permanent would solve all your issues then. It lets those who want to run upright do so and those who dont not to. Plus it would be nice from a RP point too.
(edited by Dante.1763)
Well, i had no idea they nerfed this skill till i saw this thread! its no wonder why nobody picks up FGS now! D;
No thank you, while im a big fan of the GW1 charr, i much prefer the Charr in GW2, its why i have 11 of them… I do wish we could toggle standing up, but they dont need to be reworked. I like the way they run, i like the way they stand, i do not however like the flame legion charr at all, i find them hideous.
Im sure more than one of the fellow charr lovers will come along shortly and explain why the charr look the way they do. Because this isnt the first thread about it, and it wont be the last. If i had the links for the information i would post it myself.
Alright, I didn’t know about the repairs, but simply being able to constantly buy the premium ammunition with real money is P2W. The point of P2W is that, to people with loads of money, it doesn’t much matter that it is expensive to do; the fact that they could throw $10,000 at a game and be consistently better off than other players is enough for them.
GW2 is a Buy2Play game. There is nothing you can buy in the gem store that will give you an unfair advantage. The only exception to this is the ability to buy gems, convert those gems to gold, and buy as many legendaries as you want. They should have never implemented the legendary weapons being able to be sold on the TP (IMO), but they have the same stats as ascended weapons and everyone can craft those anyway. Still, where it counts the most for whether a game is P2W the most is when you are going up against other players in PvP. GW2 PvP is almost completely standardized, and the traits you don’t have right away can be bought with some gold, which you would get naturally from doing PvP anyway.
As for the making money part, League of Legends is F2P, and the only things you can buy there are character skins and additional rune slots. You can spend thousands of dollars on that game too, but none of it makes you any better in-game.
And thats exactly why they are nerfing premium rounds so they are close to regular rounds, they dont want people to pay to win, they want everyone to be on an equal playing field! Minus player skill of course, which plays a large part of determining who wins or loses a engagement(even gold rounds wont penetrate a tank driven by someone who knows how to angle their armor. I personally laugh each time i come across a gold slinger in my german tanks, because i know how to make them impenetrable from the front unless the person aims at my weakspots, of which their are few!)
I agree legendaries should never have been able to be bought for gold, it was a stupid decision that im very glad they are not doing for the HOT legendaries. And yes again despite never doing PVP i agree, there is no P2W there as you have almost everything unlocked(with the exception of a few amulets, runes, and sigil combos) unlocked from the start, same with everyone else.
Dont play League of legends, but it sounds close to GW2 then if all you can buy are skins and such with real money!
My dad plays it. Throwing money at the game repairs your tanks faster without using the in-game normal currency and allows you to use the top-tier rounds (that can only be bought with the in-game special currency), which lets you continually use the best tanks all the time with the best shells. It’s so blatantly P2W. He doesn’t buy stuff though.
That is actually wrong, i play world of tanks(26k battles). There is no repair time in world of tanks, all you have to do is have the proper amount of Silver(Regular currency) to repair a tank and its instant, at least on the PC version, i wont play the xbox or mobile versions. You can also not use gold to repair tanks, again at least on the PC version.
The APCR/HEAT/HESH gold rounds(The special currency) are available to be bought for credits as well now(Shells come in two purchasable forms – standard and premium. Standard ammo is always bought with credits. Premium ammo can be bought either with gold or for a large quantity of credits. Premium ammunition usually boasts enhanced capabilities verses the standard ammo available for the same gun. Premium rounds should be used sparingly though, as their great expense makes indiscriminately firing off premium rounds an expensive endeavor. From: http://wiki.wargaming.net/en/Ammo), at least they are on the PC version.
Edit: They are also looking into nerfing “Premium” Ammo so its much closer to the standard ammo and gives less of an advantage to people who buy those shells.
Now, throwing money at world of tanks does allow you to buy premium vehicles(Which are worse than or equal to tanks of the same tier, usually worse.) Which earn 50% more credits and can use crews from the same nation and vehicle type without a penalty.
So it does have a slight pay to win factor..but its nowhere near as bad as other games. And it certainly shouldnt be used to show why GW2 has no pay 2 win factor, as unlike GW2 its a free to play game and they need to make their money somewhere.
How about no to the OP. Sorry, its not a good idea. This does nothing to address the meta, in any of it’s forms, so no. Making EVERYONE suffer just means the status quo remains the same.
P2W? Bro, have you played World of Tanks or Heroes and Generals before? You’re saying GW2 is P2W? Do you have any idea how off base and hyperbolic you sound to us?
I’m a fairly invested Heroes and Generals player. I’ve spent at least 120$ just getting my account baseline playable. You have to pay for every bullet you fire out of a rifle, every shell out of tank, every grenade you throw.
If you think GW2 is p2w you have no idea how much worse some games are. Honestly it’s insulting considering how little GW2 actually costs compared to the shear amount of content available for free.
Shame on you. You can’t save $50 up by the time Thorns comes out? You’ve had literally years now to save up. You still have several months to save the $50 if you even tried.
Way off topic, but PM me how WOT is P2W please…
And yea i agree with the rest though!
They are hunting, but that does not make the pact soldiers “hunters”. There are subtle distinctions with what a profession is and what a hobby/job is.
If somebody types a lot for work, that doesn’t make them a “typist”, but they are typing. A construction worker that goes fishing on the weekend isn’t a fisherman, but a crabber up north is. The class names are their professions, meaning that what they do is their way of life. The minute the dragons are all dead, all of the pact soldiers stop hunting, but they are still soldiers.
Edit: Along that vein, when all the dragons are dead, the Dragonhunters will probably have a “well…now what?” moment that any villain has whenever they defeat the good guy (a la Megamind (2010)).
Oh i know that, but he stated that the pacts purpose was not to hunt dragons, when it was formed with the sole purpose of hunting down the dragons one by one, thats all. I agree that being a soldier does not make you a hunter.
Its why i do not like the name Dragonhunter(like the french version better to be honest), it does not fit the theme of the skills that they use with the exception of one skill, and a weapon and armor skin, now if every skill had some sort of dragon effect, dragon in its name, or something similar, i would almost agree with the name Dragonhunter. As it is, it just screams out quite a few of the names listed here, it uses light to do things, so its a more aggressive guardian, i still dont think Dragonhunter suits this specialization. Unlike some though, ill still use it just so i can use a longbow…that better than the Ranger(IMO the person who said that Dragonhunter is doing what the ranger should have been doing from the start is correct).
Your edit, i laughed, i really did! xD
It’s not. Try again.
“The Pact is the union of the three great orders of Tyria: the Durmand Priory, Order of Whispers, and Vigil. The alliance was founded in 1325 AE by the sylvari Firstborn Trahearne and his trusted friend with the stated purpose of defeating each of the Elder Dragons, one by one, starting with the undead dragon Zhaitan. "
Id say they are dragon hunting if their entire purpose was to defeat all the elder dragons. One by One, that seems like hunting to me. Hell check the verb form of the word, hunt.
1.) To chase, or search for, for the purpose of killing.
2.) To chase or search for with force or hostility for the purpose of finding(Usually followed by Down, example given was, “They hunted him down and hanged him”)
Sees like they are hunting dragons to me though.

They never said that Heart of Thorns was going to be needed to pay for in the first place >….>
Ahem
Q: Is the expansion “buy to play”?
A: Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns is a paid expansion to Guild Wars 2, but once you buy it, there are no subscription fees. This means that you can continue playing and access future updates for Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns with no subscription fee.
https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/105801626-Guild-Wars-2-Heart-of-Thorns-FAQ
Sooooo..yes its buy to play…and you wont get elite specializations or quite a bit of the new stuff that comes with it unless you buy it. WVW and the new pvp game mode not included obviously!
No thanks, i like Trahearne. He could have used some better lines, but i like him over all. Plus he never once stole the thunder of my character, for as long as i can remember(basically since the first time i finished the campaign) hes Deferred all the choice making to me, and gives me credit when i do things, unlike Kormir.
Exactly the way WoW used to work, although they had a much larger gap at one time and look what a mess that was.
How long does it take to make all that ascended armour and weapons? Just wondering how long a new player would take to get those stats.
It entirely depends, i have two people in my guild with less then 700 AP that have almost fulls sets of ascended armor, while i myself with 9.4k have 3 ascended armor pieces, on my entire account. Just depends on how badly they want and or decide they need it, and to what extent they are willing to go to get it.
What if they redesigned them, so that they looked a lot better with better effects?
After all some of those with them say the stats are not important.
Not even then would those i know stick around, they crafted it because the stats are slightly better and they currently have nothing better to do or better to spend their mats on. As for improving them, thats unlikely to happen(Highly, Highly unlikely), look at how long Charr players have been asking for armor to be revamped so it fits them(Aka: Since the game has came out.)
Edit: Again its about the backlash, if ANET decided to pull Ascended armor stats it would be huge amount because of the massive number of people who crafted it because it was BIS.
(edited by Dante.1763)
It’s never a waste of time discussing something like stats. If people didn’t discuss game issues then they would never get any feed-back. What they do with that feed-back is another matter.
Maybe you would like to discuss your cat, well if you have one.
The biggest point that anet has to consider is the backlash from players who crafted it. Be it from the amount of gold they chucked at it, to the massive amount of time. If you look at the current thread about traits, i can tell you this would be way way worse. if they do this, i know many many people who would leave the game, not because the stats matter(lets face it, i wish our armor was still like GW1 armor), but because they lost something they put so much time in to get. Much like if ANET decided to just pull the Obsidian armor out of GW1, how would you have felt after putting in so much time for something?
GW1 dungeons were a walk in the park as well. Like in every game if you run meta. It’s the same everywhere.
That is what i was thinking, have no idea though, i ran builds i found fun sometimes they worked others they didnt, but that was all part of the fun for me. Except for VS farming where i did run a meta build.
I like both of them really, hybrids would be nice but so many people in this game refuse to learn what to do and or not listen to those who do. Wasnt around for the Marionette so i cant speak for that.
I do however want more dungeons, after coming from GW1 where the dungeons where a challenge(Sorry, i didnt run the meta so i have no idea how easy they could be if it made a difference) To the ones in GW2…its depressing..also they where much much better designed i think.
But the game was meant to have easily obtained BiS gear.
You know, that quote about how by level 80, all players, even casual ones, are supposed to have BiS gear.
Easy stats is how the game is meant to be.
Actual quote would be nice.
Hes referring to the three year old manifesto now that was already outdated the day the game was released.
Are you wearing the aviator cap?
and all the mats you using to make the asc. gear you could have sold for even more money (or used for recipes for other skins you really wanted) if you didn’t have to get the asc. gear
Woopty doo? What am i going to do with that money, really? I dont need a commanders tag, i dont command things, it would be nice for open world events sure! But i dont need one. As i said a few pages back im making ascended armor because i want to, for the achievement, nothing more. I dont care about the stats(they are minor and not important), i find most of them uglier than hell(and thats important in an appearance driven game).
You might find this shocking but i dont enjoy hoarding money. I have the three legendary precursors i want already(The Minstrel(yes i have the legendary), The Chosen, and The Lover), none of the super expensive skins are very appealing to me(Aside from Infinte Light which ill craft when i get enough lodestones), so all i have to spend my money on is mats(which i wont) and buying lame skins, and other stupid things(which i do).
There is nothing wrong with ascended gear, its there for those who want it, and isnt needed for those that dont want it, outside of high level fractals which makes sense. It doesnt matter at all in PVP, and in WVW its minor the same as it is in PVE. If you want it, spend the time to make it, dont rush to it and use all your money, make the armor set slowly as you get the mats doing whatever you enjoy doing(Dont know about PVP here(Then again it doesnt matter in PVP), but i know you get a decent amount of materials from salvaging stuff in WVW and PVE). But do not take away something from those who have already spent a crap ton of money(if they chose that way) to get. Look at the backlash anet is getting on the trait system because of how expensive traits are. Now imagine that, but worse because of how expensive(if you buy it) an ascended armor and weapon set is.
Also heres a little thing for everyone! http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/2mgibt/why_ascended_gear_is_a_big_joke_in_pve/
(edited by Dante.1763)
Thats odd…im gaining money while also gather materials to craft my ascended armor…i dont buy anything for it at all…while im out exploring the world or doing whatever i want in whatever zone im in i gather everything while im out there, i dont skip mobs etc, the amount of loot one gets doing that is pretty impressive! Sure im not anywhere near as much money as i could be making, but im having fun doing it and thats all that matters to me
wouldn’t that be a 1 in 8,28 million chance?
huh, is there a 28th month?
Think he used the Month, Day, year format… 8/28/2015…
And whats wrong with them?
Because hard mode, and all the anti elemental defense we get on enemies in HM. Ele hate was also really supported by balance devs like Izzy. I eventually 7 heroed all content and not bothered looking for a group that needed an ele.
Searing flames eles was the only good thing eles were good for…. if you had a team build to capitalize on it. Otherwise it was discordway and sabway that never needed an ele.
I was even butting heads with meta then when I was a 7 year GW 1 vet.
Also ele’s long cast times etc, allowed every class to beat them even rangers pve or pvp.
Nightfall says hi with all its mesmer enemies!
Ele was the most frustrating class in GW 1 to play, and I did it cause I wanted it hard and to be different, but being different meant not many groups wanted you. Unless the group catered around Searing Flames, her only good build.
Hm, i never had many problems really in pve, with my ele in hardmode, i dont know why of course. Could be i ran a E/P Build of my own making…
I never once used a meta build in my GW1 7 years of playing..for well any content, heck even my searings flame build(which i really only ran for a few dungeons) was different. Never had a problem finding a group though, thats just me i know everyone has different experiences!
Meeeeh, back in MY day I ran across all of Tyria and Cantha (friggin CANTHA) and Elona with my two legs and LIKED it.
Seriously.
So much run. So much.
Never once wanted a mount. Still don’t. Even LESS necessary now.
This! And it felt so much bigger too!
I was the GW 2 ranger equivalant in GW 1, but as an ele. GW 2 comes around and eles are pretty much the most sought after and rangers are the least wanted. A total reversal!
Pardon what? Eles where bad in GW1? why then did so many people want searing flames eles? Off topic i know, but i always felt their was no real off class in GW1, at least when it came to PVE, i never ran into it anywhere near as bad as i have in GW2 with the Ranger.
Yeah, the whole special treatment thing doesn’t really happen (at least not to most of the female players I know, including myself).
And the only time I’ve really been hit on in-game
Yup doesnt really happen! Thank goodness! I get tired of people saying girls dont exist on the internet..but oh well!
Only time ive been hit on was in GW1, it was very very…odd..to say the least.
Its the necromancer!! Woot Woot!!
Sorry for breaking your immersion, but I’m going to continue killing people with my planetarium scepter and eagerly await the use of staff as a melee weapon.
So that i can beat people over the head with my lantern staff! (the crossing)
Be prepared for further astonishment (you’re sitting down, right?):
I only have ONE character!
Excuse: I’ve only been playing a couple months. I have others planned but it might be a while before I create them.
GASPS How could you!!! :O But really, i know everyone plays differently and so long as ya are having fun theres nothing wrong with it, i just enjoy making new characters…ive also been playing for almost 3 years now..and its the one thing ihave left to do…
Told ya it would end up here.
So i cant tell if you are serious or not, but just in case…
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Mounts-merged/page/19
This is where this thread is gonna end up regardless!
How about, Referee! Its a high concept!
Can i take the guy in the fourth picture home?
That’s what his outfit seems designed for.
Just to clarify, I’m not judging anything in any of those pictures for worthiness, just for ridiculousness in combat situations.
I suppose I should remove the Norn. He could be carefully calculating his look to inspire awe and terror.
;-)
Oh i know that, but by far and away that outfit isnt to bad, so long as its on a mage class.
Otherwise… that norn though, is by far and away not the weirdest? ive seen. i have nightmares of this one…wish i had taken screenshots but he wouldnt stay still. he was a clown..a CLOWN..a giant..multicolored..clown.
What’s ridiculous about the 3rd picture? That’s a manly man. Did you not see the beard?
The scowl. It’s clear that someone with such a manly beard and dreads, that adonis physique, and impeccable fashion sense, would be very happy.
Can i take the guy in the fourth picture home?
As for this topic, most of the weapons used now arent going to be realistic for combat at least when it comes to greatswords, swords and a few of the other weapons…
