Thing is, neither incremental rewards nor RNG are going to please everyone. Someone is always going to prefer the other option.

Thats why im glad they went with both for the new silverwastes area…those who get lucky can get lucky, those who dont can still get it! it might not please everyone, but having both be available would! If i could do tequatl every day and get a token and when i get X number of tokens to trade in for a skin(Not the physical weapon)

All my complaints would be gone. For everything else in the game, theres gold farming. All my exotics? Gold farmed for them since RNG does not give me loot!
Without any complaints, but this item? i get its an ascended item, but in a year shouldnt i have gotten at least 1 ascended chest drop?

Thats the thing about this game in particular, you can get most of the “Rare” loot if you put in the effort. But there are a few things that you cant get through effort and those few things drive me mad when im after one of them.

[Suggestion] Outfits system improvements

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Dante.1763

Actually, plenty of people have suggested that if they release an outfit, just release it as an armor skin as well, so people who like the outfit can buy it, and people who want the skin can buy it, and they make that much more money by appealing to both crowds.

It would require a little more in the programming department, but it would please everyone.

They would also probably start charging 1500 games for them. 700 gems for the outfit, 800 gems for the armor. And it would be tied to a certain armor weight as well.

Teq’s Hoard was a token attempt to cater to the "rare loot via specific content’ crowd. I wish they were tradable, I would have sold mine.

I would have bought it in an instant. Ive done him every day basically aside from when i was taking a break from the game(Usually a month) which isnt often and still havent seen one or any ascended drop..its the sole reason i cant enjoy this game as much as i want to. I want that one item for my character..and i cant get it, because RNG is so kitten stupid. Hell there was someone in map chat who linked 6 of them…That made me happy. /sarcasm.

If i had two separate accounts i would to this myself as well, that way i would have something to back up what i say too, regardless of what the forums think. Its ANETS attention you need to get, not the forum goers.

So I bought a new account, has less that 2k AP and like 150 hours or so on it? Has about 90% account MF. Let me list off the items I have looted off of just random mobs through his travels to get some world completion done.

Dusk
Tooth of Frostfang
The Hunter
Howl

Now let me list stuff I have gotten from dungeon chests

Dusk x 2

Now let me list what he got out of Silverwastes

The Energizer
Carcharias
Rage
Truth x 2
Dreadwing
Stardust x 4
Tinwail
Charrzooka x 2
Kymswarden
Resonator

yeah, I don’t see any problems at all.

I hate you even more now Im in the same line of thought as the person above me(Hopefully) 9.2k AP and 3.5k hours, but i posted what ive gotten in another thread… If you ever feel like spreading the wealth keep me in mind! Ill be mindlessly trying to get a sunless chest from Tequatl…

Ele 1 runs a odd healing build for fun, Ele 2 is going to run a celestial fire earth build.

Outfits? No thanks.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Dante.1763

Well I’ve purchased 7 armour skins from the store and zero outfits.

If they continue with just outfits then I shall not be buying anymore.

Outfits are a waste of time as you can’t customise them, and changing the limited areas with colour doesn’t really achieve that.

And there are players like me who are the opposite…i have bought 2? armors from the gem store…no 1 one armor and the other was a gift, and almost all the outfits. I do think they need more armors, but i can understand why they arent making them if they are selling more outfits than they ever did with armor. ANET is a business and to them, the gem store is all about the money.

Frankly id rather have outfits in the store and any new armor set added in like the Lumi and Carapace sets

The thing is, there are rude, irrational players on both sides, that instead of creating their own groups, will join others’ and attempt to force them to play their way, either directly, by scoffing at their groupmates’ builds or indirectly, by joining a group whose standards they do not meet and hoping not to get caught.

Human nature is disgusting.

Yup thats why i mentioned both sides doing it in my post. Both sides are guilty of joining the other groups and trying to force themselves into the group. I dont join zerker meta groups myself because i dont like the idea. I do however join the “Experienced” groups who expect you to know how to play, and i love seeing people who have no idea join the group and then expect to be carried and start raging. And vice versa happens when i do AC casual, “Everyone welcome” Paths.

Human nature is indeed disgusting!

This is true.

Its very true, and im not just saying that because im the one who said it. Each of these threads share the same element, no matter whos posting it. If the casual players(Sorry stealing terms) Dont want to have to deal with being called baddies or whatever then they need to create their own groups and not join the ones who want experienced players etc. Same with the other side, they shouldnt join groups that say “Anyone welcome” And try and take it over, which i have seen, and have had happen when i am up for teaching AC paths.

Edit: It really comes down to respect, and that seems to be lacking, BADLY among players anymore, in my opinion of course.

Yeah, it makes no sense to leave in the same dialogue/description when they clearly removed that part of the heart.

Unless its just broken and they need to fix it, otherwise they would have changed the dialogue…its just been broken since then.. and these threads keep showing up, and if they read the forums like they say they do. They know about it. if it was just the text they forgot to change i would figure we would have seen that changed by now.

Another thing that bugs me, why did they remove the heart bit where you turn into a sylvari hound, but leave the heart out in wayfarer foothills where you get turned into a cat?

to you it might not be a problem because you unlike some you dont have 6+ characters to gear up so thats a month per character now in my case i ll have 8 characters soon so thats a Minimum of 12 months to fully gear all of them Assuming i had all the materials required wich i dont so that easily bumps the time a few months up .

WRONG. I have 12 characters i need to make ascended armor and weapons for as well as backpacks. When i want to. I also have another 2 characters that arent level 80 yet, and another 2 when HOT drops that will be Revenants.

You dont have to grind for ascended armor, or weapons unless you decide that you NEED IT NOW!!!!

i have 4 ascended greatswords, an ascended dagger and an ascended sword, that ive made at my own time. Sure its taken me longer, but im doing it when i want to, im not forced to do it, which could be the case if ANET wanted to make this game like WOW, want to do new content, you need Ascended gear. Thankfully you dont.

I dont have any ascended armor at the moment, why? its not really needed, ill do it when i want to, when i feel up to it. At the moment im working on getting my characters that i play to have all ascended backpacks, why? because i want to. Thats the keyword, want i dont want ascended armor right now, i dont want full sets of ascended weapons right now. I want to finish my second legendary, i want to finish my ascended backpacks.

And of course this game is grindy or rather, it can be grindy, if you make it that way(it was grindy on release too, to some people. Dungeon armor? Do the same thing over and over and over again(Yay so much fun!), Map completion, ALL MMOs have a sense of grind to them) , its an MMO, they need to keep people playing. Some things are going to be timegated. However, most of the grind in this game is player created(My opinion of course, only grind to me is doing PVP).

There is also an expansion on the way. So dont expect any new content till then.

i think its unfair to say that as we’re not new players. with the new expansion coming, i think at least letting them know the basic knowledge of the game is good enough.

Hes getting at the fact they forced the NPE on veteran players with no way to shut it off. Its more than alittle annoying when leveling now, i mean i dont mind the rewards for leveling, but i dont need to see what ive unlocked…when i already know.

Actually not having it available at all times would be worse than keeping it on the market. Keeping at available keeps the price of sprockets down so people with one(I own one) Dont make as much off it as they could if it wasnt available. aybe i should harvest more so i can get stacks of sprockets and get rich quick….i mean ive had 236 forever and i dont plan on building the backpack for awhile.

Specializations. And Ranger pet?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Dante.1763

Dante.1763

There could be more pets, but they better not buff pets. Rangers are already one of the heaviest hitters, their pets can apply conditions as well as some DPS and they can revive them faster than any player can revive another player. I hope they add cool new pets, but they don’t need any kind of boost.

Rangers are hard hitting? Wow then these dungeon groups are plain stupid for kicking me in the past(hasnt happened since they fixed pets) But you get my point. If rangers where strong, they would be wanted for speed clearing groups, dungeon groups, fractal runs, etc etc. Sure they arent bad, but they arent the best either.

I think u’r underplaying the income form this pick. i was watching twich stream of a person using it and every 2nd hit on ore and wood got them a sprocket. Imagine therefore if u were doing lot of gathering , u’d be getting stacks of it each day at 2s+ each last time i looked, that amounts to a lot of money.

Dont think he is, players in this game who know how to make money, make money fast. I own the watchwork pick, i harvest everything i run by, i have 236 sprockets in my bank and none on any of my characters. To get that, ive filled up my iron(Can hold 500) twice, Mithril once, got platinum to about 100, and ive filled up on ori. I guess it all depends on how lucky you are with the triggers, ive never been lucky with it though.

Why not do a similar thing to outfits that they did to the headpiece skins in the store? Buy once, unlock for all weights. Warriors are able to wear “light” outfit skins, etc, so why not go that extra step and make everything wearable by everyone (bar racial armor of course)? I’m only half joking here. This would be fantastic for those of us who like to mix and match.

I don’t know anything regarding coding, so idk how difficult it would be, so please forgive me if I’ve suggested something that would be ridiculously hard to implement.

It would, different weights have have different physics i do believe or something along those lines, the actual material they are made of acts differently. When they where converting the old town clothes its why the went with tonics instead of making them outfits(I dont agree with this on all of the old town clothes, some would have been great armor pieces, but they wanted them available to every class.) Some of the pieces just didnt work with certain armor weights. Its been awhile since ive read the post, and if i could remember where it was posted i would find it for you!

I do think outfits should not be able to be worn in PVP however as it does hide the armor class from being seen without clicking on that character.

Edit: i do still love the idea of having them unlock as an armor skin for the weight of material they would be if they where an armor. It lets mix and matchers mix and match as if they had bought the armor, its 100 gems cheaper than an armor set and would be amazing! (Edit #2. And i would use this so often!)

How about a racial core specialization?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Dante.1763

Dante.1763

Racial PvE skills are already bad enough as it is.

They should have never been so different. They should have been identical in mechanics, and only look different in visuals.

For example, where a norn would “Become the Bear”, become a werebear and get 5 skills, a human would use “Avatar of Balthazar”, an asura get a “Heavy Combat Suit”, a charr use “Blood Rage” and a sylvari a “Husk Form”, and get a different-looking transformation, and 5 skills that do exactly the same but with completely different visuals.

Any racial specialization would also have to be the same: Identical effects, different visuals, effectively making it a ‘core PvE specialization’ equippable only in PvE and WvW, that affects only PvE skills and mechanics.

Picking a race should be a matter of lore and taste, not part of making a build.

Oh my goodness its nice to see someone else who thinks the same thing!!!

In some cases, this was the only way to actually get the skin if you weren’t able to complete that content.

This. It would be nice if they had added some sort of item that awarded like..1-2 random skins when opened(Double click to unlock type thing). And if you had the skin already, oh well!

The pvp community reminds me of what Obi-kittenenobi describes Mos Eisley as from star wars.
