The different time zones would lead to mostly pvd.

But team composition out of NA+EU+CN (CN is china, CH is confederation Helvetia, I.e. Switzerland ) would be the only way to make 24/7 meaningful.
And for the Ping: move the match every 8 hours to a server in the region that currently has primetime.

EotM in EU currently has a big problem:

The SFR side always generates new instances, and the 2 non-SFR sides are spread equally over all these instances, having underpopulated buf and being unable to fight in all instances.

Solution Proposal

Always look into the EotM-Section of the LFG tool, if you want to play EotM.

  • If the is a party <your-color>-<IP> join it and use this to join the instance that has the forces of your side and then leave the party to free the space for the next joiner.
  • If there is no such party, join eotm, type /ip (use the last 3 digits) and create a party <your color>-<IP>

This way the non-SFR sides may be able to really play EotM, at least in Prime time.
AND all the SFR-EotM-WTJ will be bored to dead on most maps and hopefully spread out to other servers again.

I win when i am red, blue or green. Color doesn’t really matter. Just kill enemies every time.

That exactly is the problem, SFR attracted not only WvW wtj, but in the meantime even more EotM wtj (personally know several of them). Whenever I am in as not the same color as SFR I’ve outmanned buf 100% of the time.

But as usual ANet isn’t able to make a game mode that isn’t at least 3:1 imbalanced.
A pity otherwise EotM and WvW would be fun, so the game is dead. Hopeless as not-SFR side, boring as SFR-side.

What i do not like on the removal of white swords is that (uncoordinated) participation in a camp-flip becomes more difficult. I am running now quite often to a camp just to see it flipped before I reach it. This was better with white swords.

Since several weeks I’ve permanent Outnumbered-Buf in EotM.

I know balance in WvW is hard to reach as it is based on fixed teams, but it should be much easier in EotM, as teams are close to random, make them total random but balanced would be much better.

It’s like random PvP would be always buggy and sets up all matches 5:2 or 5:1.

The modal dialog is totally cosmetic and has no functionality behind it.

Yes, exactly this is what I don’t like on it.

Currently forging 10 superior siege needs 50 clicks using your method and 60 if you click the dialog away.

It would need 14 clicks, if the dialog never appears and the items would not reset automatically.

It would need 2 keys ‘1’ and ‘0’ and 1 click if you could enter an amount.

I would prefer the last, the 2nd would be ok, the current is pure annoyance.

PS: And this does not only apply to superior siege, but also to runes and sigils and …

But I still think it should be logical! Why is the Fort Mariner WP in LA still blocked? Mordereds influence on the waypoints has been handled. It should work again, his tendril has disappeared as well.

3) Auto-targetting

Difficult to make screenshoots of that. So here only a description:

I noticed, that the FIRST attack AFTER I manually selected a target with left-click still goes to the OLD (or an auto-seected one, in case there was none) target. Why?
I mean I selected this to shoot at it, and not to shoot on something else!

Another problem with auto-selection: It seems to love to select covered targets behind walls, that cannot be shoot, instead of the bad guy that attacks me.

And a third related problem: My ranger has 1500 range, till 1200 range auto-fire works well, but above 1200, I have to press 1 again and again to keep firing.

2) Trade-post

I want to sell something I see figure 1. I would love if the system would remember what I usually do (offer 1b below current offering), but it’s ok. It has some nice features like auto-adaptation to changed Inventar and others.

Figure 2 is again bad UI-design, an modal-blocking Info dialog (with the additional problem, that the to long text of the german localization, makes the buttons nearly inaccessible). You have the hints for such info’s you do not want to see (and especially not click) this dialog again and again.

Figure 3 since the last patch (before it was better) I will be back to the 1st screen, EVEN when there is nothing left to sell

I am aware that a well-dosed annoyance (like falling into a hard to see pit if you do not watch your steps) is vital to game design, but I still think that
annoyance in UI-design only indicates bad programming

Here is my Top 3 of Annoying UI-design in GW2:

1) Mystical Forge

Figure 1 is mostly ok, I only ask myself: Why isn’t there a way to say, that I want to do this 10 times and not only once?

Figure 2 is the most annoying part in my view. A modal dialog for information-display without a choice. That’s a no-go in UI-design. If if would contain the “repeat n-times” as in crafting, ok, but just forcing me to another click is bad.

Figure 3 shows another problem: the fields have been automatically reset Why? There is a reset button, if I want a reset. It should stay as it was, just reduced by the consumed items!

Summary: The bad design forces me to many bad UI-interaction, better design is very easy!

People always seems to be under the impression that everything can be solved by just throwing more money at it. That is rather often not the case.

Another thing to keep in mind is that based on these forums alone there are many different suggestions and several of them goes against each other. So which ones should they go with? Which ones are even possible to do without basically rewriting the game?

There is only one good reason to not transfer to the TOP-Serever:
If all do there is no one to fight.

But the following may be an optimal strategy for everyone ( the transferee and the not transferring ones):

If we assume we have enough player to fill 6 (3) server:
Always transfer to the currently 6th (3rd) server.

You will be we’re the action is, and most important, if all do it will result in balance, I.e. Interesting fights.

they should start by fixing the current wvw system . they don’t want change it . ok we know and accepted it after 2 years , but there is not any excuse to not fix the broken or stupid mechanisms.

I hate such uninformed claims of this matter. People make these claims and never offer a lick of evidence to support it. I play in NA, and I know for a fact that all 4 maps on the top 6 servers can have a queue on any given day. SO these irrational claims of something being broken or unpopular come off to me as cheap accusations that players make because they don’t get the changes they want, regardless of how it effects everyone else.

That 1 out of 17 tiers MAY have queue on all maps for a few Hours does indeed look like evidence that everything is fine to me

EotM was designed as an overflow for WvW. Perhaps you should only be allowed to enter EotM if all four maps on your server are have a queue.

Obviously more people have more fun in EotM than in WvW, that’s why there are there.
Obviously it’s never a good idea to force people into something that gives than less fun than something they are doing.

So stop the complains about EotM.
It’s there
It’s more attractive than WvW
Stop trying to force people into WvW that don’t want to be there anymore

Admittedly WvW could have an advantage over EotM, namely competitive play.
However it has 2 design error that negate that:

  • it does not adapt it’s capacity to varying demand, I.e. Queue in the evening, empty maps at other times.
  • absolutely no balance of the most decisive resource: man-power, neither in total nor in it’s 24/7 distribution.

If those 2 are fixed it likely regain its advantage of competition, and this advantage will attract player. But as long as they aren’t fixed it’s pseudo-competition is only a source of frustration that let people avoid it.

Shutdown WvW and server
Add EB and BL maps as choice to EotM game modus

make 1-3 times a week competitive matches Guild vs Guild vs Guild, where a match is 4 hours on one (random) map (out of EB, BL, EotM), scoring as today, glicko for guilds.

100 people for 4h should be managable for guilds (capacity 500) if your guild is smaller, form a competition-guild with other guilds or guildless people.

Then we have 24/7 fun/training-ground, and really competititive matches 1-3 times a week.

2) I would assume that in some cases that is because they are planned (or already are) used in Crafting or MF recipes, which doesn’t work that well with currencies.

Geoden and Bandit-Crests in recipes? Hard to believe, but should that be the case, they should get a material field in the bank, shoudn’t they?

As Said in the scoring Diskussion, the scoring should Chance from the current “i’ve more” to “i do better/equal/worser than man-power let expect”.

If you have 70% of the manpower in a tick you need 70%of the ppt or you make minus. If you have 10% of the man power you need 11% of the ppt to make plus.

Or alternatively strict manpower balance: no one can field more people than in the mean of ALL MATCHES currently want to play. So if 190 want to play in T1 and 10 in T8, the mean is 100, 90 of T1 sit in queue. For sure for this we should reduce server and matches with the current numbers this doesn’t make sense. And maybe even two permanently separated leagues, the small scale league and the blobber league

New trend in EOTM?

I was running Edge Of The Mist for fragments to complete my armors (which i did, yay), and i came across something new to me. We got farmed. It became obvious anywhere the train went, there would be a zerg there waiting for us. People explained it thinking there was a spy doing this to annoy people.

While this is bad karma and you’ll go to hell for it, not much can be done about it. I’m just wondering, does he get anything out of this? Besides annoyed peoples? And is it common?

SOme more fights would be cool, unfortunately (in EU) the color balance this week is 100 blue, 70 green, 20 red (usually when SFR is green not blue it is 100 green, 40 blue 20 red) so for red there is nothing to fight just: get something without being farmed to often.

Fix the balance in EotM, ANet, not really difficult to assin a new player to the smallest team and ignore its server and its color

In fact it will even help WvW if server membership isn’t respected I. EotM team assignment, a lot of people moved to SFR for easy EotM farming.

Back to action. Admittedly easier with robots, just turn them on but also possible with humans (motivate them). I am not native English, but I think “reactivation of reservists” is a common phrase in English.

Not much left to destroy, or how many healthy server in balanced matches do you see? But maybe a redistribution and reformation phase help. Also people to bored by their current server to play may be reactivated.

I would say its time for

free transfer

as a very short term solution. We don’t need server merges, if we are able to leave the nearly dead server and to experiment a bit to find a new home.
The restriction to you cannot play in the current match running while hopping should be enough for a while.

Shutdown the finally empty server after a while.

Maybes it’s a good idea to also permanently separate the server into two leagues.
- massive blob (map limit as now)
- smaller-scale (map-limit 40-50)

Everyone, every guild or even every community can move around till we found a new setting that fits all needs.

In the end it’s important that we can play and not that we are proud of some name.

Personally I would enjoy moving around for some weeks, looking at T1 – T8, EU and NA, … over 2 years on the same server are enough. In fact to much I rarely enter WvW anymore.

The Key of eotm’s superiority is of course that – due to dynamic maps- you do not notice a difference if 300 or 3000 or 30000 are currently playing EotM.

Hard to reach in WvW especially as the proposal to freeze the borderlands outside prime already had more opponents than fans.

In fact I would propose that competition in WvW is restricted to a few (1-4) times 4 hours per week, rest of the time it’s free play without scoring.

You all seem to assume that people would “go back” to WvW, if rewards in EotM are reduced. I am in doubt. I will never again play anything that has 24/7 matches. 4h are much better.

Replace it by something different.

Especially something smaller than 24/7 on 4 maps, a format that requires 160’000 people (each plays 10h per week) evenly distributed over the 24h and the 24/27 server to fill up all the match capacity of all the 8/9 matches in NA/EU, i.e. to have balanced matches.

Was never working and will never work.

I usually go to EotM to get my daily 10 kills (most of the time solo, farming reinforcements), it’s 10 times faster there than in WvW.
While I kill my 5 dollies or flip my 3 camps I usually do not see any enemy in WvW.

So yes it’s more PvP area than WvW at moment.

If you defend enemy can’t cap. It’s good reason.

That’s a bad reason to defend, you cannot cap it while it belongs to you

There is a defense event, and kills give a bit as well, but the game design is clearly offensive, capping gives much more than defending. So if there is an easy and fast opportunity to defend, take it, if not, come back 5min later

It’s intend is to give a light-headed, more action-based exirirence to those who:
- did end up in a queue.
- don’t like the 24/7 pressure in wvw.
- don’t like the slow, strategic approach in actual wvw-maps.
- prefer action-filled matches in WoW battleground-style.

- think that the scoring is non-sense in WvW
- hate the imbalanced matches in WvW
- don’t like the arrogance of the WvW-player and commander
- find 24/7 nonsense
- don’t want to hear commanders shouting in voice-chat
- don’t like calls-for-scouts, attendance checks, …
- bored of empty WvW-maps outside primetime
- enjoy the variance the imbalanced map design brings (I like red, if it wouldn’t have outmanned buf 80% of the time I would love it.)
- want that WvW in its current shape dies-out to make space for something new, but still want to play a bit from time to time

The Main advantage of EotM is: it scales to different amounts of Players.

When 300 want to play you have one full map, if 30000 want to play you have 100 full maps. (At least when this bad side assignment based on WvW color is replaced with “a new player joins the currently smallest team”, currently (in EU) you have 2 maps when 300 want to play: each with 90 green vs 25 red vs 35 blue)

WvW on the other side always have around 10’000 slots for player, if only 300 want to play they hardly find each other, if 30’000 want to play 2/3 sit in queue.

And the main disadvantage of EotM is: Winning or loosing a match has zero meaning. That was a great advantage of WvW, but nowadays, with the imbalanced matches, it has no meaning remaining as well, winner/looser known before the match starts makes competition inexistent as well.

If there would be more balance there would be more fights. But if you always have outmanned buf you aren’t really looking for fights. And if you outman the other and play to much on fights you sit rather sooner than later alone on the map.

You probably know the WvW matches and scoring is to bad to be competitive.

Competition between 300 and 100 is just senseless.

We do you argue scoring should be in a way that it helps you to have stronger opponents? I mean this is punishment, facing enemies that out-number you and not loosing ranking, to face better balanced servers. As long as the competion isn’t fixed, scoring has only the following point: It determine your opponents.
You know, instead of being punished by being outnumbered at rank 5, I would prefer to drop down to a rank where the majority of our players (the prime-time) isn’t outnumbered anymore.

But we have this night and day crew, that keeps us at rank 5, this week even in T1

PS: This my point of view, neither Elona’s point of view (where I am) nor an SFR-players point of view.

You mean you are a small server with a bad prime-time only in it’s current ranking place due to a better night shift?

You would loose ranking, drop down to a place where you meet an equal primetime, such that the majority on your sever can play a more balanced match.

1. So you expect it to dynamically change the ppt every time a person comes in or leaves WvW? How do you expect it to do this without issues or errors?

No idea how ANet will implement it, should they ever do it.
But maps always know how many people are on them, or queueing wouldn’t work.
Will be rather easy to extend that to sum up the man minutes spend in a match during each tick.
As a tick has 15 minutes dividing the man-minutes by 15 gives you the mean population during the last tick.
If you had programming at school, you can do it within your first year

2. What do you propose to do about the players?

None of your cheating proposals convince me to be a good idea.

If you force your people of map, everytime you are not leading you loose badly, as without people you will fall back even further instead of turning the tide.

There is already an AFK mechanics, stacking inactive people will not lead to many man-minutes. If you manage to convince people to keep their char in game, either the AFK manager need to be improved, or you can be happy that the enemy spends its time with such non-sense instead of attacking you with all those people. As said above I would count a person for every minute in WvW as 1/15 person, if it spend 15 minutes it manage to count as a full person, maybe additionally any AFK-kicked during the period is totally excluded.

In any case the possession of objectives determines how many of the available point you get, not those manipulations, they can only boost the total that is distributed between the servers. Whatever you do with those manipulations, you cannot (as every side is limited to around 400 people in match) reach the current state where you get can get 695 points for free.

I took the tower as an example as your proposal says “40% of objectives” and a tower is an objective, This idea will even screw it more up then it is now. All it says the server thats able to field more players will get more points regardless theyre good, or not.

PPT is objective wise and from player stomps – adding points for having more people in the battle is redicilous imo.

I do not see where you get the higher populated servers have an advantage in my proposal.

Let’s assume manpower is 30 vs 10 vs 10 and tick kitten : 120 : 120.
The server with 30 people controls 65% of the objectives as today he gets 65% of the available points namely around 32, the other server control 17% of the map they get 17% of the available points namely around 9 points.

Total people in the match, where did you took the tower from?
30 vs 10 vs 10 likely gives a high share of total 50 points.
400 vs 300 vs 300 likely gives a more balanced share of the total 1000 points.

Even “weak” servers manage to have a well filled prime-time, they are weak in off-time, Currently the strength of a “strong” server is its off-time, but as it’s off-time the amount of players and therefore the resulting points is low. Therefore the result will be more balanced than today.

Day or Night who cares. The amount of points per player is the problem.

I propose: you posses 40% of the objectives you get 40% of the points.
And the number of points is the number of players in the game.
So when there are 100 (sum all sides) player you get 40 points for your 40% of objectives, when there are 1000 players you get 400 points for your 40% of objectives.

I cannot see how anyone night player would be discriminated by that! they are worth 1 point whenever they play.

u can use it and can be help full … but is all ways destroyed befor u get any real use out of it

In EotM the oil placement on the towers is much better, there it is really useful, and I killed more than one Zerg with it and as commander I avoid attacking on the oil side.
