Have you gear grinded enough for Tequatl?

It basically requires some specific types of equip. Precision and critical damage don’t work at all toward tequatl, and condition damage is quite useless too due of the scale of the event – as stacks will be always capped, so you aren’t actually doing anything.
More than a gear check, is a gear type check. In an open world event, with people basically taken at random.

Yep, and the one they listed not to bring is one with power as a major. Though personally I prefer soldier’s (done world bosses all year) which is another with power on the major trait. So maybe that guild would prefer rabid or carrion over zerker? Luckily maybe everyone else there was geared right, this guild was the one holding everyone back hehe

20s – 1g (For food to kill him)

McDonalds? Would take time but I’m sure that food would take him down.

As for the gear, I have 8 char in that, seems very common, maybe more of an excuse to create a guild like many try and fail to do.

One of my guildies has access to it. AFAIK he hasn’t used it yet.

That sounds random. If that’s the case, probably mostly being tested on banned botter accounts…

Or how ’bout uh
Guest to a server still trying to get teq for the first time and trying hard
Get in position – make it in out of overflow
Hit teq a few times
Pull back, find a safe spot
Go AFK – relax
Wait for teq to fail (you know, like with Scarlet?)
Collect/farm your dailies requirement.

It’s probably not too smart to “test” a tool without too many folks in the test… not sure what’s up here.

That’s called in-house testing. This is called we don’t have in-house testing beyond rough concept testing.

Well what I think is why can’t they just require pre-event chain participation to get the final drop from a boss?

90% of people come in at the last moment and whack the boss a few times then collect a full loot drop. Then turn around and cry how easy it is. Yet if they were there actually participating in the pre-event chains, would they still be crying how easy and boring it is? Then they pick up and zerg to the next boss ready to drop. Or go back to their champ zergs to farm gold for gems.

Now we are still stuck doing pre-event chains with 5 people, but praying a massive zerg shows up at the last minute so they can link all the exotics they got, and we didn’t, just so we can maybe succeed the event.

This is fail.

find a busier server to guest to. It’s free.

So become a nomad so farmers can have their new shiny farming content? So I gotta quest to the servers in Europe, screw my guild, screw the people I do this content with every evening that I meet up with? Hope we have 50 people to do fire ele or whatnot there? Guest here guest there guest guest guest. Sounds more like something a zerg farmer would suggest. And it’s not just they are doing something else? These people are not online, even my guild was emptied out when I logged in, and there is usually quite a few when I log in every evening.

I even went to teq, onto the overflow. I saw how many people were there, then plus a full zone we overflowed from as I got into that from the overflow. There are a lot of missing people in this game, unless they all guested out, but I doubt that. That’s not a lot of people really. Then you put it like these zerg farmers are going to stick to this revamped content, but I know better, they will get bored and anet will lead them to the new patch, leaving a broken husk behind of what used to be our game.

Yep, logged in, nothing left to do, logged out. I mean I can go to teq and watch it fail over and over, or I can go to something like fire ele and hope a huge wall of zerg farmers come in once the fire ele pre is done and whack-a-mole so we can succeed. Went to other boss events, temples etc etc and no one is bothering any longer. And certainly, as I play more after peak, I won’t be seeing any game content any longer apart form JP’s. So I’m usually playing at this time, already grinded my daily, now dusting off another game to play. wtg anet!

Paitence much? New big huge fight comes online, and everyone goes to check it out. In a week’s time everyone will be doing other events as well. The game keeps changing. What happens on patch day, stays on patch day.

No, it’s not like that at all. If you did bosses around midnight server time, regular, you would know there are often maybe 10 people at such events, and on one of the populated servers I’m speaking about. I went to a boss event tonight around 10pm server time, no one bothered to even show up as they do every night, around 20 or so around that time. If they did, we probably couldn’t do it anyway. If things go back to normal as you suggest (we even did it during invasions), then we are going to need a lot more people to do it. You think that is going to happen? no way! This is just the latest zerg farmer content patch.

This is flat out the same zerg farming crud anet has been dishing out in recent patches. Zerg farming, gear progression, grind. What happened to the original intent of the game? Friggen liars, man. False advertisement.

UMAD that Teq had 10.000.000hp and now 5.000.000.000? This is all anet’s good for, increase HP=higher difficulty. Originality/Mechanic to battles isn’t something known to them very much.

I don’t give a crud about teq. I’m speaking about the rest of the game that is being wiped out to accommodate the zerg farmers who scramble to pile up gold to buy gems and make anet happy.

I honestly feel sorry for you guys. I’m finally enjoying doing the world bosses and excited when I see one coming up. Before my mind was thinking in Ben Stein’s voice every time I saw one coming up… “Oh boy, boss fight, need ecto.”

Why? Because you were grinding something yesterday? today you have something new to grind? Tomorrow will be something else as soon as they patch it in? Like when many were grinding invasions, you were doing boss events and temples with us? Doing full chains with us? Or zerging in at the last moment to whack-a-mole and claim your ectos? Now you are standing at fire ele, wondering where everyone went? Wondering why less guildies are on now, if any? Trying to find something to do? I honestly feel sorry for you guys.

Just flubbed Teq/Wurm/Taidha on my server. We got Fire Ele, though. I’ll be honest, I’m actually HYPED to fight these guys now … whereas it used to be: Loot/Plunder/Rinse/Repeat. We’ll get these S.O.B.s

Actually I don’t even need to log in and whack-a-mole to tell you it’s the wrong way to fix it. They should be working on the pre-events, calculating your chance for final loot drop by your participation in that.

The problem is that 90% of players just come in at the last moment to get a few hits and collect as much as someone that spent 20-60m doing the chain, that always do the chain. I’ve been in plenty of pre-event failures, it’s just not as noticeable since the game is more set up for zerg farmers and big rewards with little effort. Make the mole harder? At some point people that do the chains will just not bother any longer. And if they make each part of the chain drop high-end loot then it’s just another zerg farm event which will eventually be replaced by some next up and coming zerg farm event.

The game is B2P, you can get EVERY single bit of content in the game for in game gold. Yes its true you can. There is NOTHING in the gem store that actively forces you to purchase it to progress content. There is nothing in the gem store you cannot get by simply playing the game.

Okaaaay… can you point me to where the unlimited continue coin drops from? …other than from gems? That, is a content item, not something to just pretty up your pixelated character with.

Though GW2 is not an “F2P”, they certainly do seem to be shifting towards a reliance on the sale of gems over releasing a paid expansion. Where is mention of an expansion? That was how they were going to make money as a B2P, right? Or is that from gems now? That is something that f2p’s rely on. Most mmo’s have mention of the coming expansion by first year end. So, the OP is just sensing what a lot of people are.

Well… there is an android game, an RPG, where you buy the game and the game plays itself. I think you just pick the name of the character, then he starts playing. You just check in on him now and then to track his progress, dungeon completions, his loot, his interactions with other… players. So yes, probably the future of GW2… or 3

Good Looking Staff for Guardians?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Daywolf.2630

IMO if you go with traditional looking Guardian gear and colors as I did for a long time and of these staves look good. Except for the last one, I have used all these skins with my Guard:
Corrupted Branch
Seraph Staff
Monsoon
Aureat Staff
Ebon Vanguard Staff

When I got my molten bracers I went non traditional with my guardian armor and now use Emberspire.

I can see the Toy Staff looking good with certain armors for the guardian too.

I used vanguard when leveling on my guard, but really I think you need dark armor to make ebon hawk stuff look good. Like my Norn warrior is in Armageddon abyss/yellow detail(of some type I forget) and the transmuted ebon GS and hammer matches that well.

Emberspire? So you’re that guy… no j/k I have one on my fire ele from early on, some people use it.

And don’t forget pact weapons, if you like dark, the skins are less used but look pretty good. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Pact_Quarterstaff

Legendary as a sign of unskilled player?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Daywolf.2630

so I think I’ve done better than you since I gave rather than sold I’m not counting lodestones

Thing is I don’t have 3000-4000 hours to play in a year. Of course some are going to have what I mentioned plus multiple legendaries, but the rest of us gotta plan how we sink our time into the/a game. Some went for a legendary/s, others went for game content. And yes, I’ve given stuff away, but loadstones just rot in my collection apart from making destroyer weapons.

But what I listed is just from normal game play, shouldn’t be anything special really, just balanced game playing without an obsession for long term grinding on a weapon. But to those that whipped out the CC# to buy mats for a legendary, I’m sure anet is appreciative.

Pugging and teamwork aren’t perfect bedfellows.

I don’t see this game as that complicated. I can name games that make this game look more like toontown online in comparison. Seriously. But still, to someone that has been speed running CoF1 constantly for six months, and within a party of two or maybe three classes, er must have been a shock to see parts of the rest of the game once that farming got nerfed.

Though this game is simple, it does take participation outside of constant farming to really grasp it on a whole. Knowing how to play all classes (or most) really helps in that, because it’s so simple you quickly pick up on what people are going to do most often. I’d much rather be in a pug with people that understand the game than with a group of honed CoF1 farmers nearly experiencing the game for the first time outside of that dungeon. But hey, added challenge I guess, keeps my eyelids from drifting down.

Expect? Expect nothing normal from this game, you will be better off Yet, I do feel I contribute to teamwork in a pug or most any group, since I’ll take a long hard look at class composition of the group and choose the right class/build to play for any given group or situation. Sort of like an anchor I guess. Need a tank, a healer, buffs, melee, ranged, more DPS? Covered. Only full ascended gear has me worried at this point.

Most guilds I’ve been in, majority of players are farming alone and doing solo world map completion with one or two characters built for after legendary mats/gold. I don’t knooow…. /me shrugs

Tired of reading this crap

Make your own group, and stop worrying about how others play.

You can show hostility, but it’s what you’ll see. Even if they don’t call for links, less people are going to put you on their friends list for regular groups, even if they are not elitists. You’ll see the difference, just like when you may build stacks of bloodlust, and others will see the difference as well.

As for me, I hunt chests, from bosses, temples, JP’s, whatever, so don’t start thinking I’m just getting my copy and paste ready for the lfg tool. But when you add it all up, that’s just how it’s going to be. Especially as the game becomes more and more grindy as it has been becoming. Been at this mmo gaming for a very long time, I’ve seen it all happen many times over.

(Also, I solo it legitimately, killing shades and evading AoEs – I don’t use whatever current exploit there is to ignore mechanics. And I’ve never done the entire thing solo, a couple people usually show up half way through and die or at the end.)

Nah, it’s not so much an exploit, you still get hit. The shades just don’t bother with you for a little bit so much, not until they start spawning in added waves which you really need to finish off the priest before that happens (no time to WP once). Same can be done by standing at the communion point, but then it’s a little harder to dodge the AOE’s as it is to just shuffle along the coffins. If you look at the coffin stack, it’s set up for players to jump up there. The added risk is that if you fall off the back you need to WP out, or if you are lucky/unlucky, the priest will join you there heh

The commander issue isn’t too big of an issue where I am. That said, I do think there should be a way for people to vote to suspend the tag for 24 hours.

Yeah, not even 5 minutes. It can be a tool to grief guilds as well. So you have a guild with two or three full groups and they are running with some tags in WvW (and even guild missions) since squads don’t mark other players (fail). In the end, no one would have tags, which I think is the motive behind the thread. I see no issue with commander tags, and if the people complaining would just sell off their mats they are farming for a legendary weapon, they would have the gold to get one themselves.

I went to that area once. I saw all these contested areas and tried to clear one, died about 20 times in a row, left, went back a few more times and experienced the same thing and then never went back.

Well when they release the lfg tool, I think it’s going to be easier to find other people interested in doing temple chains. Currently, it’s mostly about going to the zone and waiting to see if anyone else will join in, if they haven’t given up and left already. And that’s just concerning those that will actually participate in the chain as opposed to just zoning in at the last moment to spank the last boss a few times and claim their hard earned rewards. And sadly, there are a LOT of those types of players

The problem though is that the zones are not soloable to completion. I’d love to see someone try to solo the Balthazar shrine to get the skill point. It’s freaking hard to do duo and it respawns very fast. Not to mention the Area affect burning that just randomly happens when you stand still.

If all you want is that skill point (my thief has gotten it while contested actually) then look for a server that has just completed it and guest there. Last thing we need is more content getting nerfed, really. Really, I’d rather that zone be taken up to full 80 and made a bit harder, harder like old pre-nerf cursed shore, though I know that will never happen. And really, if you are not at level 80 and in exo gear, I’d just skip Orr map completion until then. I, like many people, completed cursed shore first then worked backwards.

Anyway, there is a website, don’t remember which, that gives you the status on all temples on every server. Find one open, when one is, and guest. My server, it’s open every couple days or so. My last attempt was two days ago, but was late and we lacked numbers for the final stage.

hmmm… yeah, seriously I doubt it has anything to do with being on the anet thank you list. Not even sure if MF has anything to do with it. I do know though, at least by the consistency of the key drops, I’ve gotten most of them running temples in cursed shore which I do a lot, off of minions. The most recent one though, I did one of those spontaneous invasions, dropped off of an aether minion in gendarran. All I got was a scrap, MF booster and random change bottled thingy to throw on the stack of change bottle thingies in the bank.

But 100 players following the other commander on the map. He led them all up to the top of the castle then he started to shout “jump!” and they jumped. In the time it took for them to jump from the top of the castle and hit the ground dead at the bottom, they could have had enough time to vote my tag off. Sounds promising…

I’d hate to fight a Warrior with GS, Hammer & * (axe/shield or such). Or a Thief with S/P, D/D & SB. A mesmer with GS, Staff & S/F. It would just give so many options, and too many OP builds, that I think you couldn’t really balance around it.

I’d want a build swap (armor and traits) option a lot sooner than 3 weapon swaps.

GS, hammer and rifle, all I use on my warrior. And really, the rifle is the weakest since the build isn’t for it, but there are times you just need a fall back to ranged. But say my warrior vs. my fire ele, even warriors current 2 weapons vs the 1 for the ele is cunningly balanced. If I could swap short range to long range on my fire ele on the fly, warrior toast no matter how many weapons he’s swapping. Of course there are conjured weapons, but then that takes up casting slots and not so easy to use/cast on the move. But yeah, huge damage. Then there will be cries to nerf my fire ele, and I just won’t stand for that! :P

Yep, money and time invested. Might have even bought some gems. But then I’ve spent $40-60 for games and tossed the cd/dvd onto a nameless stack an hour later. Other times… well I bought like Quake1 on launch day for ~$50, still have it installed. Albeit it’s migrated to my Nexus7 now, but still using those same core files from that original disk, and had it on every hard drive since I broke the seal.

What do you do with BL chests?

Funny because I keep them, but haven’t had a key drop for months, lots of chests NO keys at all.
Then I bought a few gems with cash, and hey presto a key dropped within 15 minutes.

What a co-incidence…………………….

Hmmm… interesting. I can’t confirm that though, I bought gems the first month of release, but yes I get BL key drops. They do track whether or not you ever bought gems though, now you will get perks in the in-game mail from anet.

with gemprices this high ppl rather spend some cash than change gold for gems….

And an odd point about that, have you ever actually checked the prices for selling gems and then checked the prices for buying them with gold? I don’t mean just look at the chart but actually enter the forms for buying and then selling (if you have some). It’s a difference that would make a carnival carney proud hehe
Excuse me while I go drop another unlimited continue token in the jukebox.

So, in other words, another NPC has quit the game? But taking a middle ground here regarding the lack of depth, that’s pretty common with mmo’s early on in their run. I’m more concerned about the future of this game, the direction they seem to have changed to.

Some mmo’s were excellent early on though, then took a hard turn downward (e.g. SWG, EQ1 etc.). Then others that started out mediocre yet over time polished and improved to the point that they have/had 1000x more subscribers/players than they did at launch (I won’t mention such games here).

But for GW2, that’s something you must determine for yourself and your future with the game, what I think about staying or going is of no matter. I mean I may be critical in my posts on forums, have my own opinions of things, but I only post in hopes of improvements to the game I play. Today I play, can’t speak for tomorrow since it’s not tomorrow yet, yet I can determine for myself when it’s time to stay or go since I’ve been playing mmo’s over 15yrs and some of those for 6+ years on a sub. But to stay or go will have nothing to do with someone else’s opinion.

Happy trails.

I do agree with some of your points, but there is nothing in the gem store I ever feel like I need in order to complete the content. Or in order to enjoy the game. Nothing is stopping me from experiencing the new content every 2 weeks.

Well I put one recent example, seems clear cut. But they didn’t add the continue tokens until recently. They are willing to do it though, by that example, and I’m sure none of us know how far they are going to take things like that in the future. I’m not out the door yet, all I can do is wait and see how far they take it after testing the waters. Some have no problem with it, and I understand that, but that wasn’t how the game was pitched from the beginning, which is fully misleading to those that did buy the game on the merit that what was told to them by anet. What was it? Fool me once shame on… something something

I mean come on, how is making micro-payments to access a dungeon whenever you want b2p? Is it b2p-b2p? Buy it once – buy it twice? Buy it again and again? hmmm…

We grind to 500 by putting the lime in the coconut. Then it’s allll about those imitation Twinkies that got stuck on the shelf. Hey well if the money gets tight, they can always get a sponsor, like Domino’s Pizza, craft your ascended pizza while at the same time place a delivery order.

I also destroy them on sight with alts but on my main i just keep them stacked (he has the most space anyway), the way I see it taking up 1 inventory slot is worth saving me 2-3 seconds of deletion time every now and then.

He has 237 BL chests atm and I’ve only had 2 keys drop; been playing since launch lol.

I think you need at least 80-100 MF to see them as drops now. I got them early in the game more often, but mostly stopped other than from personal story. So like I’d get them most often from dailies before they changed dailies to work on ascended trinkets. Back then I had about a full bank bag full of stuff from BL chests, mostly from doing dailies. For drops, I think they mostly started drops when they put in the scrap tickets. Only in MF armor did I see a some BL keys drop from that point. When MF armor was removed, I didn’t see another drop until two days ago as I got my account MF up.
