Absolutely not. Tutorial instances drive players away, and do more harm than good at keeping their attention.
A good way to introduce players to new things, is done incrementally as they play.
You also have to take into account the various players. There are some that are new to the genre, and veterans, and even some that are new to gaming and very casual.
Sooo….. fighting the elemental in Sheamoor, then waking up and left with no instructions at all is better? There’s absolutely nothing now, no direction at all. That’s going to turn people more than a tutorial with an option to move past and skip it.
I swear players just assume WAY too much of others whom haven’t played before.
this game demands mechanically well-rounded, and fast twitch game play.
No, no, no, no, and no. The heck with this fast twitch b.s. Watching a fight that last a few seconds because everyone is in Zerker is boring as heck. The longer a fight last, the more skill and precision is required.
I’m glad other players are coming in here and clarifying this is, if it even is, an sPvP issue. As I see it, ALL burst skills need to be toned down. Thieves burst in WvW is still too high too. Instagibbing is still taking place in WvW. Thieves should never have been able to do that in the first place. No build should be able to output 20k in under 3 sec.
Oh, for the Golems… learn to where to park them. Legendary defenders still rip apart players in an instant.
This is still something I’m itching to do. It should be a end of the week thing or certainly been a seasons reward!
All professions can use a celestial build. Those 3 are particularly strong because of might stacking, not so much healing. For all celestial gear, especially runes, they need a little bump in specs for Pve/WvW. I think each piece should give +1% for Boon duration, +1% outgoing condition duration, and -1% incoming condition duration. Then say +/-2% for the Chest Armor piece and Single handed weapons. That would be a total of +/-15% which would be a nice boost for a whole celestial set. It would help out all celestial builds a little bit without stacking more base stats.

How is layer arbitrary when it’s a far better visualization than shard? A layer would better represent that the mega server created another whole map. It’s easier to visualize the Mega Server stacking as it expands and contracts in size to accommodate players. Not that the mega server split a zone into fragments. Which is what a shard is, a fragment of something.

Shard??? ick… layer or instance is a far better terms to use than shard. For the suggestion, it’s very hard to quantify what’s “best”.
To be honest, I don’t believe any of us are qualified or understand fully the development time and cost required for the game. I’d love to have more content too but, I can see why it takes so long to create.
I disagree. GW2 has had very substantial updates, especially during the 1st year. There actually was a lot of content being put out, but the temporary nature of living story makes it seem otherwise. Not only that, but they had multiple teams working on it, instead of on more traditional content such as classes, races, traits, etc.
How much of the content then and now was created before launch?

There are a considerable number here who legitimately share some of the ideas in the OP.
There are a considerable number here who legitimately disapprove of the ideas in the OP.
^See what I did there? Unless you can post actual data, please leave your opinion as your opinion. You did well in your other posts though For me, I believe exclusivity only breeds negativity and feeds snowflakes.
We’ve been asking since launch for the Dev’s to give up on the ridiculous idea of having profession and armor weight “looks”. Just like we’ve been asking them to get rid of hobo sacks. NO ONE, even in sPvP, is using them as visual cues for fighting. Unless they completely delete Asura’s from the game, since they are the size of a tic tac on screen, their concept of visual cues is utterly flawed.
So dev’s, I know you made non interchangeable meshes for each armor weight. We all realize how hosed the future of customization in the game is because of it. Outfit’s are your intermediate solution but, we should have a long term plan of merging all skins really. As outfit’s are not even close to as good as mix and match armor skins. The dyeable channel’s of outfits alone is far too limited.
You already created have enough skins, you just have to recreate and reintroduce them across each weight in the game. Seriously, do we have to necro the mix and match thread from earlier in the year?
Why is it that every time I find a thread or post that’s really out there, it’s from someone with no post history?
I believe what the OP may be referring to as “Cheese” is the burst capacity. For me, I believe it’s been an issue for far too long. When you can burst down an opponent faster than their healing skill animation takes to proc the heal, there’s a serious problem in design. Think about it, have you ever heard or read a complaint from someone whom lost in a 1v bunker bunker fight? Not really, no. Getting burst down in under 3 seconds, now that you’ll hear rage about.
Running around Gendarran Fields for 30 minutes already trying to do events. Absolutely fabulous experience (sarcasm) running to events, only to have them already been nuked by the “comfortable” level of players in these Mega Server instances.
30 minutes for just one part of the PvE daily. Yet, how fast can an sPvP player get their daily in? This system Still needs to fairly balanced across the play modes. Also, a dungeon category added for instanced play. That includes FotM to that category.
Sometimes I find the choir to become completely lagged out. I can enter and not get a single note right and get ejected. Go right back in and it’s perfectly fine and I have no trouble hitting the notes. So if you are having a lot of trouble, try resetting it by exiting and reentering. Also, I find the “upper” choice to be the easiest or simply the most pleasant to play.
I was thinking, maybe this would be a good time for some civil disobedience. If they want to make us play PvP, then let’s play PvP. Let’s join whatever matches are required to clear the daily, and then just /sit until the round is over. Win or loose, repeat as necessary until the daily gets cleared somehow, or you get too bored to continue. We don’t want to PvP, we don’t want to WvW, but if they force us to do it anyways, then the least we can do is not provide a fun experience for any of the other players until they give up on the idea of controlling how we play.
Just make certain you tank to the Nth degree.
I think a large part of the problem with the new dailies is how it feels, as a player.Dev’s, it feels a lot more like a control mechanism than an incentive or reward. Which, and maybe it’s just me but, player in a video game should never feel like they are being controlled or manipulated. Do better dev’s, do better.

They should never have started putting unique items in game. And, Omni infusions are a complete and utter joke. You’d have to be super wealthy irl or plain nuts to waste the resources on those. I’d never spend the gold on any of the Agony with extra stats. Just ridiculously priced for content that’s not worth it.
Completely agree. Let’s add getting rid of the unique classification as well.
Today’s PvE of Fractals or Fractals is kinda bs. There’s no other word for it. Instances play like that shouldn’t even be considered PvE. Make Dungeons and FotM another category all together because they are certainly different game modes.
I remember last year we had a lots of sales in the gem store. This year seems quite sparse in comparison. Anyone know if there’s going to be sales this week? With such a long list of items player’s have asked to be reissued to the Gem store, surprised not more has been done.
It’s light armor trickster top and ascalonian bottom
Because there is no community creations in game. “In game” being the key words in that sentence. Creativity is also mostly stifled for control. The dev’s are heavy handed when it comes to forcing a handful of cookie cutter appearances. Unfortunately, this all stems from the bad idea of typecasting professions into certain appearances. Mostly due to trying to force an E-Sport business model.

^Necro level OP. plz nerf

If anyone hasn’t seen this, it’s so worth a look. It’s absolutely hilarious, more so if you’ve done this too. I used to get teased that I probably could have bought a legendary with how much I’ve spent upgrading.
Merry Christmas Everyone! From my instance to yours
I can understand the OP’s annoyed as an Atag during a LR fight really isn’t appropriate. It’s a large distraction which can do more damage than any individual hacking. I feel GM’s should not be seen by players. If one showed up the other night during our epic 3 way in JQ Hill’s, you’d have all three server’s raging for certain.
Why anyone would even hack this week for a paper Bay, I just don’t understand at all.
When it comes to Retal and Immob, the question should be if they enhance or diminish the fun player’s having? For the most part, I’ve only heard and read complaints on them. I really cannot see how they were ever added to the game really.
Just noticing in Snowball Mayhem a charr’s paw prints are facing the opposite direction of movement. Just fyi dev’s
I just ran my lvl 20 Mesmer from LA down into the Straits. That was before running to that skritt for the fry pan. This shouldn’t be a problem to get done.
Snowball Mayhem is the best PvP in game. Yes Dev’s, it’s better than sPvP.
I like the Aspect Arena better.
….You think you’re tough huh???….
That was the voice over Kiel said at the beginning And yes, I spent a good amount of time in Aspect too! There’s just something about Snowball Mayhem that I can spend hours on end in there though.
It’s WVW, just do what I do, take a necromancer and fear uplevels off ledges. Or take a ranger and pointblank shot them off. There are some epic videos on youtube of players knocking off 30-40 players using fear because they’re too lemming to pack stun breaks or cleanses.
You’re the person knocking back the vet’s and champs out of the AoE aren’t you???
It’s a funny niche rune to use in WvW, but not a lot of use for it outside of that.
Certainly are correct in that. Though I had this stack of badges collecting dust so Armor for these runes it was
yup, still bugged
More than likely the Dev’s put in blues and greens for the lulz…
LA will get rebuilt. Just hoping it’s a wonderful amalgam of new! Pieces and themes taken from each race with a foundation of DR. LA was too dirty and dank for the hub of the game.
You don’t speak for the community. In fact, a toxic thread like this is a part of the problem.
Snowball Mayhem is the best PvP in game. Yes Dev’s, it’s better than sPvP.
It’s pretty simple, if players are stepping on each others toes, then there’s simply not enough room for them. The simple solution is for the Dev’s to provide enough room for the players. In this case, room equates to the amount of viable places with ambient clusters. Moving Ambients to the home instance at least makes the farming capacity scalable to demand. Unlike the mega server which requires far to many players before it begins scaling.
Heck, I’d even BUY GEMS to place a good few clusters of ambients in my home instance.
Great, now the dev’s have to include Sentries into the siege cap. They obviously have a health pool and absorb the enemies attacks. It’s especially good at exploiting the AoE cap.
It’s a cute and funny use of badges, I’ll give you that.
DeWolfe — I’m sorry you’re inconvenienced by this situation, but honestly, it’s the best overall. The restrictions aid greatly in account security, just as early chat restrictions reduce in-game advertising of money-selling sites. I sure understand your frustration, but the limits will lift in a relatively short time, and ultimately, the player experience is better for having them in place.
Thanks for understanding.
In total agreement with this policy and wish other games did the same. This pretty much cripples gold sellers and removes a well known tool that account hackers use to empty accounts.
Anyone that would want this removed so they can get a title, that has no actual value is, imho, just unbelievably self-centered.
Peace.
There’s plenty of reasons to want to transfer funds to an additional account. This one was my first to trigger it while making a character with a “gold” theme so <insert vulgar remark>!
For a hackers and gold sellers, if you are that nefarious, this would be a speed bump at best. It’s also the fact that there is zero information of said limitations anywhere in game or on the wiki. Hence my original complaints if you read it at all….
Bring back the Consortium Harvesting Sickle, Dreamcleaver Logging Axe, and the Watchwork Mining Pick please? I believe those are still the best of the best when it comes to unlimited gathering tools.
Let’s remember that all of this is simply a form of communication. If you understood what he wanted then it’s good enough.
1: I do enjoy the living story format. Some episodes were a bit brief for those of us whom play too much
2: A counter offer would be a monthly skin contest. Where user’s submit art or renders of things they’d like added to the game. Then we player’s get to vote on them. The winning one get’s put in game or on the TP a couple weeks later. If on the TP it’s for a reasonably low price, devs.
3: Some key binding presets would be nice. I do it with 3rd party software but, an in game option would be great. Like one preset for each profession.
Who dares bump my thread???
Syzygy above has the most accurate info on this. It’s not a 3 day wait and guild banks do not work for amounts greater than 1g. I ended up withdrawing 1g at a a time from my guild bank.
For the off topic question about the armor, I’d buy the Profane skin set if it included that low level set of armor from the deluxe. Freak’n awesome for re-rolling alts.
I think the Maize was a brilliant idea and works wonderfully. It’s takes a virtually useless in game creature and turns them into a useful form of production. Especially for those of us still hunting that mini!
I have my favorite spot and only farm it when alone there. If someone stops by I simply freeze while waiting for them to move along. If someone perks my trolly radar I’ll either go elsewhere, use the tp, or simply get up and take a break.
If there was a tight group of 3×3 ambients in our home instance I’d happily stay in there when farming. We could use more to do in the home instance.
To the OP, I hope they DO NOT close this as being able to communicate with those on the other teams has value. I usually don’t but, just the other day I rekt’d someone unusually hard. I assumed something was up and after whispering it ended up they were not WvW players and just there to get map complete. Which I gladly give others room to do so. Even gave them tips to use Millenium and GW2score to watch for when the POI’s will become available for them. Another was the other day I noticed an enemy had a certain level of buffs and I whispered and we chit chatted for a bit. Even, in EB while transform RP’ing we talk with each other.
So no, not everyone is obnoxious or rude in WvW. The Block function is there to handle players on a case by case basis. Please do not ruin it for everyone because of a few bad instances. Follow Gaile’s advice and it’ll all work out.
Ooh.. something else I thought of, Polla and the Hero’s band would be nice to bring back too. Pretty much there’s a lot of things that simply need to be brought back for this Wintersday.
This thread has been hijacked by off topic discussions of elitism, dungeon runs, and gear choices. None of which is actually about the topic of a performance meter. As I keep saying repeatedly, there’s more to this game than running in an instance. WvW and sPvP players could use a performance tool especially.
