I am a huge fan of the tournament tickets we get each week. I would like to see them become a more common part of WvW.
Why not keep the tickets around year long? It really gives each server a better reason to give it their all each week
Well, for me, these and those from last season are just collecting dust and taking up inventory space. I certainly wouldn’t go out of my way for more of them.
The question is, what is the cost of Seasons? Once again another season has ended and are there less players or more players as a result? If less, will they return, do they return, or do they just fade away from the game? How do you feel about Seasons? Do they enhance and enrich the community or do they break down and reduce the community? Here’s a place to talk about it.
Thank you for the interest in evolving WvW. I feel scoring, in itself, simply isn’t a core issue with WvW. You could remove the score all together and we’d still WvW. In fact, without the “server pride” (the exact term get’s kittened) aspect, it would probably be MORE fun! I don’t have the metrics but, I’d say EotM attracts more players than WvW does now. More than likely do to the relaxed nature of not having to care about a score. That carefree fun is far more rewarding and valuable than any Seasons or weekly 1st place rewards.
Meaning is another issue that trumps score. Since the Mega Server, worlds themselves have lost much of their meaning. Players do not have a place of their own, nor do they have a secured way to communicate amongst themselves. These issues are more detrimental to the WvW population than scoring. Honestly, I believe LA should never have been turned into a Mega Server layer.
I’d much rather see threads about new maps with themes, Alliances with back stories and associated themes, than just a new scoring/reward system. For scoring in itself, breaking it down into 3 hrs blocks like EotM might help. Though with Season 3 winding down, I’m certain many players can tell you we all played WAY too much. There simply isn’t enough WvW players left in the game. Thus, we play over time which far exceeds the boundaries of “healthy” game play. I hope Anet considers deeply what behaviors their designs encourage and rewards. This is coming from someone who just played 12 hrs straight against BG and TC.

500 >250 soooo….. if I was a developer I’d leave whatever makes the 500 happy.
I’m ecstatic we get JQ and TC again, maybe I won’t be bored this week. Thanks Anet.
Anyway, TC and JQ why don’t you all 2v1 BG again? That could be fun for everyone, even for people not on a T1 server.
During season 2 the 2v1 was seen as a necessary evil by most (and just evil by some). Nobody really wants to do it again, and it wouldn’t even make sense with the season 3 reward structure giving out the majority of the reward based on the weekly placement.
If we really wanted to be evil, we’d just leave BG in empty maps all week long. Though the complaining would appear as endless as that of what the 2v1 created.
The fact that two post have already incorrectly called this as week 3, may show how much attention S3 is really getting
Turn out and interest is certainly lower than the previous Seasons. Heck, right now I believe there are less players in WvW than before Season 3 began. Though the feature pack appears to have soured the game for some players too. So, who’s to say if it’s seasons alone.
The overall problem is, few want a 24/7 tournament for weeks on end. This is a video game and people want to log in and enjoy themselves for entertainment. People would also like to play for however long or short they feel like playing. Seasons generally escalates WvW to unhealthy and not very amusing ways. Already during season one people asked to never have another season. After Season two I read on here people asking to never have another season. Hopefully after S3, we’ll not see one again like this for a very long time.
When the Mega Server system hit, I quickly posted that we require some way of communicating with our server mates only. I called it “World Chat” or something like that. I still feel it’s a requirement today.
In a game were customizable appearance is important, I’ll never understand how a Dev thought non customizable Outfits would be a good idea? Now, if we had another UI where we created our own mix and matched outfits from the sets we’re buying, that would work great!
Yes, WvW has always had a P2W component. Play on reset and you’ll often find players running every buff and booster in game, except swimming. Just target one and the buff’s span over half my screen! Add Legendaries, Ascended gear, and siege, and WvW certainly becomes more about “stuff” than skill. But, we’re all pretty much used to it since it’s always been that way.
BG vs JQ vs TC.* BG came out all guns blazing and absolutely stomped the two of us. Last tournament JQ and TC double-teamed BG with great success, but it seems we opted to play open season this time around.
Considering a few high level dev’s play on BG, even having that BG pin on the twitch stream, this pretty much sums it up…..
Light armor drop rates have been limited for a very long time. In the interest of keeping cloth prices stable, this reduction in drop rate more than likely effects the profession specific mechanism.
GG, EotM is probably the most popular part of the game. Leave it the kitten alone, it’s working! I swear sometimes I think players are their own worst enemy.
Now were is the next Fail Farm Event going to be?
Why would anyone be stupid enough to post it in this thread?
This reminds me of the mix and match discussion’s, pre-wardrobe. If we cannot mix and match, then please make these items into armor skins and not outfits and tonics.
As everyone else stated, Anet… you took the time to make one of the most useless items in game even more useless???? If anything happened to this tonic, I’d hope it would be to increase the timer to 15 minutes and removed the cool down. THAT would be time well spent on it. Something players would appreciate to see.
I don’t know what happened over at Anet but, the whole month of September they’ve been shooting themselves in the foot with a lot of players. This is just the icing on the cake if you will. Might have been better received before the season began. Not almost 3/4 of the way done with it. /sigh
I see people talking about difficulty and rewards yet, where’s fun in the conversation? Difficulty, challenge, and/or suffering are not inherently fun! Where’s the humor in entertainment too?
I swear players must have truly poor long term memory or something. Doesn’t anyone realize the OP has trolled various champ trains and events before? Oy! Stop posting as you are only feeding him.
GJ even catching this OP! Lag and general bug’s have certainly increased since the patch. I don’t recall ever having the client crash so often. Even on load screens the game hangs and I have to kill the process. Hopefully they’ll find something now to fix this.
TY for bringing this to everyone’s attention.
This is still a design issue when one or two antisocial players can ruin the game for an entire map. Obviously if a large group starts reporting you, odds are you’ve done something to warrant it.
Looks at OP’s post history is under a week old. All post are complaints of Coiled Watch. Hence, OP stop trolling and then coming on the forums to stir up more trouble. It’s really getting old.
Sorry to hear OP. Yes, I have 2 full sets of WvW gear with Travelers runes before finding out we couldn’t break it down too. Nothing we can really do but buy more runes at this point. I try to give constructive criticism for most things but, that upgrade extractor price deserves nothing nice to be said about it. It’s really that much of a rip off.
Honestly, this is one of the reasons I’m not even bothering with Legendaries. I’d never put a really good upgrade item in them. Now, if sigils and runes were made swappable, then we’d all be very happy.
Necro’ing this thread instead of making a new one. I just bought this on a whim of silliness. I’ve clicked for 15 minutes now and still haven’t gotten the Tiger. The wiki doesn’t state anything about rarities. Then considered that it’s all for 5 minutes of fun only??? I really do hope this item get’s a little attention considering it’s high price. Take the “mystery” out of it and make it a flat cycle thru design. Then increase the duration to 15 or more minutes please? I’d like to play, not stand idle clicking and more clicking.
In case anyone adds to the “waste of money” discussion, I’m aware of the cost. I gave up on Legendaries already so it’s no biggie. And, I had almost 400 Laurels just going to waste. I was looking for something to add some spice and QoL to the game.
How about a permanent Hylek Hue Potion! Where we can click it in inventory to cycle thru the 5 available states (colors) with a 6th state as being off/no color? For me, that would add value and fun to the quality of life in game.
I’d like to see the Hero’s Band and Polla make an appearance in the gem store. Also, the T-shirt and other original items. Many of us have bought additional accounts and it’ll be great to get them setup like our main acct.
Gaining money is far from luck based. I try to do fractals from lvl 20 to 50 and some dungeons and I end up getting well over 30 gold each day from the daily rewards, mob loot drops and salvaged materials.(700-1200g)
There still is a luck component, more so, earning rewards in game is biased towards Dungeons. As a WvW player, earning 30g takes far more time and effort than running a Dungeon.
when exactly will the price of them increase? This “Wednesday” is a bit vague. I’d be happier if there was a countdown clock on this.
I was annoyed by this the other night. It appears new instances were being created just to accompany Overgrowth’s population. Meanwhile, I hopped on 3 different Layers only to find Badland players outnumbered on each one. One instance was even created a half hour after the match began. Meanwhile the other layers were still outnumbered!!! At some point, if one color has outnumbered, no new instances should be created.
The only way to combat this is for players to take control and start “taxiing” themselves across layers. If you are outnumbered, just jump ship! I tried merging a couple of the outnumbered layers manually with a little success the other night. Once players begin to understand the concept, we’ll be able to manage EotM much better than Anet can.
btw… for the few who may think the “outnumbered” buff is worth it, it is not. Back capping your own little corner does not equal being able to run around the whole map flipping tower and keeps.
More than likely it’s out of greed or envy. The people that complain the loudest just don’t want anyone else to have anything.
That was a bug by all accounts… it will not be coming back.
Where in the heck do you think that was a “bug”??? It had a freaking UI!!!! That was no bug at all, it was a feature that was removed. More than likely it was screwed up when they made guild banks cross servers. Instead of fixing it, they just removed it. For WvW players, I think we’d all rather have guild access on the bl’s than the cross server patch.
Noticing in the new TP when you switch Categories, Armor to Weapon… etc., we lose any of the custom filters we’ve selected. Thinking it would be more useful to have them persist longer thru the trading session. Maybe have them statikittenil we close the TP window or manually reset them?
Just a suggestion, what does anyone else think?
“Stealth should, in my mind, break targeting AND any channeled skills.”
Here we go again. Channeled skills have to be compared to instant skills. Instant skills deal all the damage immediately, cannot be interrupted like channeled skills, and leave the owner free to move around, dodge, and use other skills. Channeled skills are strong against aegis, blind, and some other defenses but have a simple counter, an interrupt. However, channeled and instant skills work in exactly the same way when it comes to stealth. The target is only required when the skill starts.
Stealth doesn’t prevent damage from an instant skill. Stealth doesn’t prevent damage from a channeled skill that starts with a valid target. If you want to avoid damage from a channeled skill then don’t use stealth, aegis or blind. Use an interrupt. The game is balanced with this design.
Correct and I’m stating that this is flawed.
Stealth should, in my mind, break targeting AND any channeled skills. If I’m running forward and being hit, then stealth and run in another direction, there should be NO BLEEPING WAY I should still be getting hit, right??? Even on an theme and immersion basis, it should just be that way.
Let’s call it out, Ranger Rapid Fire was and Warrior Kills shot were and still are the biggest offenders in this regard. Basic combat flaws like this should be way up on the list of bugs/issues to fix in game. For my thief, the conflicting “mug” and “stealth and steal” trait bug should be fixed too.
I’ll be joining Strike Force [SF] on JQ and Driven by Fury [dF] on FSP!
LET’S DO THIS!
I’d like to say this was a great idea Dev’s. And, to express my excitement and extend my thanks to Josh for coming over to JQ. It was a rough start being stuck on a home BL but, that’s as bad as it get’s. Tomorrow on an offensive map will be a lot more fun!
Oh, and a reminder to all the Dev’s, DO NOT be shy to speak up! There’s so many roles to be filled in WvW, I encourage you to try them all out. Let someone know what you’d prefer to do. If you like havok, let us know. If you like zerging, let us know. We’re all here to have fun together.
(edited by DeWolfe.2174)
I don’t think this belongs in wvw subforum but w/e. I wonder if it has anything to do with the rumored upcoming free trail to stop gold seller.
If anything, we need more guild bank access rather than less.
I’m assuming this was a part of consolidating the Guild Banks across servers. This appears to be a removal of an extremely useful feature, instead of a bug. Because the option isn’t even there to attempt to click on.
Here’s where someone’s going to have to say this is about gem sales. No guild or personal bank access means we’ll have to use a crud ton of Bank Access Expresses now.
As a new player I am very sad that you would suggest such a thing. What do you think would happen if I started the game and saw so many colors? Obviously I would be confused and stop playing. Please don’t discriminate against new players.
LOL! Maybe Anet can make a deal with Gucci or Rayban and make official Guild Wars 2 beginner glasses? They’ll be available on the TP right below the “Get More Gold” button.
Keep reading that the recent changes were to help with player retention. Wondering if any testing was done with existing systems but, differing visual styles? I honestly think and believe if the game widened it’s artistic style, we’d retain more players in the long run. Bring in more vibrant colors, make some areas cleaner with more greenery, and add more fantasy flare. Make life worth living in Tyria!
An example is the Oasis in Dry Top. The Zephyrite airship and cliffs was another great addition. Create an 80 zone like Queensdale with champs and you’d have plenty of people flocking to it.
So was does everyone else think? Is more of the same going to be helpful (muddy earth tones with skulls, flames, tent skirts, and hobo sacks) or should the game branch out and widen it’s appeal?
Something that appears to have been overlooked is that, not every character should be a level 80. We require low levels as a supply chain for goods. Right now, I have old low levels which have been extremely useful. This patch froze all the utility skills as I cannot select a utility skill that I unlocked long ago. What kind of treatment to existing players is that???? Existing characters should not have been affected at all by this patch.
If anyone asked, I would have suggested unlocking a characters capacity sooner would have been better, not later. Removing low levels from WvW is in my mind a horrible choice. Heck, I leveled several of my characters fully in WvW. In the day’s before EotM and champ trains. I learned to play by doing.
Just looking at the server statuses and SoS is FULL. Then I remembered this thread and said “wtf?” to myself. Soo… if this whole thread was a political tactic, GJ Sos! You successfully pulled a BG
IDK what Server’s and maps you’ve been on, I’ve seen maybe a slight increase in tags. Nothing out of the ordinary really. I know I’ve had a tag for a very long time and never pop it unless it’s to briefly point out something. People need to learn to use them properly rather then have Anet add another control mechanism that can backfire and bug horribly.
Come check out the game again in a few months. A lot of players are going to stay on top of the Dev’s hard until the game get’s back on track.
Dev’s love troll’s, it’s pretty much that. Every event and large social gathering of players has had “holes” in the design to allow trolling. Great way to build a community, huh?
Want to prove me wrong Dev’s, then fix the holes.
I guess what raises eyebrows is when a single player account makes 500 post’s in a week all praising Anet. That volume seems to be unusually high.
Patch was pure disaster except guild part.
The camera “fix” was actually suggested by players for norn and charrs.
Looks like ANet still doesn’t know the term “optional”.
Or, like it’s been asked many times before, a Z-Axis slider. You know Anet, for the thing players like most, customization!
Wow, it’s like I just want to shake a person really hard. It’s just mind boggling that someone, anyone, thought these were good changes. I’m just noticing that all my low level Mesmer’s that I use have had their utility skills frozen. Even though I dumped lots of skill points into the characters, I can’t change the utility skill. Anet ever think I do not want all 80’s?
Not to beat a dead horse but, I will give it a few more smacks. That this patch is the perfect example of the lack of communication. Players are not adversaries to be manipulated and kept in the dark. We love this game and are here to help. We are your greatest support system. Let us in, please?
snip
Still explains next to nothing. People learn by doing. Gating isn’t going to get them to learn any faster. A better idea would be to have everyone start as a spirit in the mist to learn a little about Tyria, what the races are, then movements, and combat mechanics. Then after this tutorial phase, be born into Tyria if you will. Even now, if you’ve never played an MMO, you’re going to be a bit lost. So I’d say the changes shackled existing players, while maybe helping a bit the few new players.
These changes to low levels is…. is…. I have no words to describe how bad they are atm.
Yeah, except for colored pins and the finisher preview, this patch is such a step backward. 2/10 what where they thinking….
