Woow, this was an unexpected response.
I haven’t done the new dailies yet, however I tend to get fair few combo finishers – why? Because quite frequently I tag along, or some tags along with me to fight few mobs.
As for the crafting…seriously how hard is it to craft few tier 1 items and sell them?Am I missing something here?

Another one bites the dust.
Seriously, everytime players find an activity that is popular, it gets nerfed.
Correct me if i’m wrong, but, I’ve read that an ANet representative said it is easier to create faucets than sinks:
a) Either the developers are not carefull and mindlessly add income sources to the game.
OR
b) These have been added accordingly, yet, in ANets eyes, any popular activity equates to overuse, which inturn is a no no.
In the end no activity will be fun and we all shall conform to running around zones mindlesly.

Just logged in yesterday to do my daily. In two hours I got 5 greens, 12 blues, fair few whites, about 15 bags, and 6-10 scraps for salvaging. Now one may think, not too bad…well the other half of my stuff was garbage/nothing.
Hows that statistics! Half of the mob kills resulted in nothing or garbage, and this was done on a zone I havent been to in ages – Harathi Hinterlands.
ANet stop kittening around – either fix this or admit it’s part of your TP manipulation scheme.
Enough is enough!!!

1. MMOs are fantastic for this, especially GW2. There is nothing I can think of in the game that players can’t decide to enter into the market for because everything in the game you can just go get, there’s no stopping you.
You can in fact not get a legendairy without the market, the droprates are far to low, even if the precursor was obtainable.
This is the sole reason so many people try to manipulate the market.
And this is what ANet wanted to accomplish – by making the games core aspects focus on using the TP. Keeping the economy balanced = manipulating the economy. If ANet were to leave the economy be, then the only one who would lose out on this would be…you guessed it, ANET.
The rich will get richer and poor poorer. It does not matter how the source is manipulated – all it does is change the rate which this gap extends at.

The problem is too much emphasis on using TP to get precursor materials for a legendary. Those who have gotten hold of plenty are controlling the market since the influx is not high enough.

Mine will be short’n’sweet.
- Fix DR (remove it preferably)
- Less emphasis on using the TP

My 2c.
We have three varaibles – demand, supply and quality (the last one is based on what you can do with the item, i.e. for how many things you can use it). Now using the TP picture of the lodestone provided by The Blue Ace.2850, one can draw a relationship between demand/supply and presume that the higher the demand, whilst lower supply, price will increase. This “hypothesis” breaks down when we introduce another variable, quality, to the equation. This can be clearly observed by taking into account how many recipies can be made using the two lodestones below:
Crystal Ldestone – http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Crystal_Lodestone
Corrupted Lodestone – http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Corrupted_Lodestone
One can clearly see that due to more options available for using the ‘Corrupted Lodestone’ the price will be higher. This quality factor is then echoed further on as a particualr product of utilising a lodestone may be more valuable and more demanded, whilst taking into account supply of other co-products to produce the next item, and so forth.
Therefore, it is because of the quality factor that there lies a disparity between the costs in lodestones, not just due to supply/demand. If something has high quality and low demand then the price would be much higher than that same item were to have low quality.
All of this is taken into account when managing how (often) the items can be obtained. Looking into the cost of Charged Lodestone, IMO, making it more acquirable would not drive the cost down much because players know that it is a high quality item. What it would do, however, is allow more players to obtain particular items down the track.
Hope this makes sense

I think it is safe to assume that DR was implemented to do more than tackle botting – i.e. manipulate TP/economy (see quotes from my post on page 17).
If this is corrent, then it is also safe to assume that it (DR) will never be removed. Furthermore, everyone seems to agree that since November 15th patch this issue escalated, whereas, it would seem, DR was implemented before that (see my post page 17).
Here is some more data from me – Ran Orr (lv80 zone) after not playing for several days. In the first hour I got 4 greens, 2 blues, several bags, few bones, and couple of porous bones. In the next hour things just went the haywire – over 20 porous bones, 1 green, 1 blue, 3 rag/cloth, and 4 crafting materials. I purpously ran in select few areas with high mob density. Clearly one cannot ‘farm’ in this game.

The real question is to what extent a single actor can influence the mass-manipulation-fest we call market for his advantage. And here I agree with John Smiths assessment that the GW2 market seems to be pretty resilient to that sort of manipulation.
~MRA
It’s resilient because it has employed Mr. DR to manage its bank accounts.
A single ‘actor’ can infact be a group working together. A single person would not be able to manipulate the market to a large extend (unless that person was a millionaire), however, a “mafia” type group could potentially do so.

The only feasible way at this stage, IMO, is to go old-school with anti-bot measures. It has a prooven trck record if done well.
DR may have been good in theory, but in practise it’s the legit players that are getting the short-end of the stick. Plus there is the speculation, that DR was not only introduced as an anti-botting measure (i.e. economy/TP “manipulation”).

Yet another reason why DR has not helped the cause.
How long does it take to do the P1 and P2? I never bothered to speed run dungeons, however, am curious to know the time/reward frame.

Just looking at OP’s video.
It looks like the character image (i.e. cosmetics) has been changed only. Like you said, you don’t get any speed boosts using the broom. In theory that is still a mount lol.
The thing is, in gameplay practise, players acknowledge that mounts are objects that change the characters motion in some way. ANet may not add those kind of “mounts”, however, cosmetic based ones such as the broom or a flying carpet, still count as mounts.

The TP is just one way to get an item – it’s fast and convenient, but not always the cheapest.
For the most part it is the only logical/sensible way to get items; and this is wrong. Sure, it creates shortcuts for gaining particular items if one feels lazy to obtain them via the game. However, it should not encourage the player to use it constantly; otherwise you will get market manipulation.
Overall, more item dropping in the game world will results in less market manipulations. Although, it may impact on how much $$$ ANet makes out of this. This is fair, however, a balance is crucial. At the moment the TP is out of balance and being manipulated in several areas.

You need to find activities within that game that you enjoy doing. Have you tried joining a group/guild with friends or others?
As for which character to choose – try and find things that you have in common or you aspire to be (want to become, hero for example). Role playing games are a fantasy and people create their characters based on what they would want to be. Use that and orient your gameplay around this. It might help you be more motivated, otherwise, sadly this might not be the game for you.

John Peters, Game Designer (October 5th 2012)
Quote 1 - “Guild Wars 2 is a game about freedom. We want you to be able to explore the world and engage in a huge variety of activities, focusing on whatever best suits your tastes.”
Quote 1 rebuttal - Right now and since October 5 2012, many players cannot do this!
Quote 2 - “Some players have run into “diminishing returns” thresholds we put into the game…”
Quote 2 rebuttal - ‘Some’ is currently a serious understatement.
Quote 3 - “…it’s not our intention that normal players should ever run into them.”
Quote 3 rebuttal - Many players are running into them, very often and very early during their gameplay.
Quote 4 - “…we’ll fix those (bugs/imbalances).”
Quote 4 rebuttal - It has been well over 3 months now since you commented on this John. How much more time do you need?
Quote 5 - “It’s important to have a safety net in place. It would be bad for everyone if, for example, a group of players learned how to speed-clear a dungeon in 5 minutes, with full rewards each time, and then repeated that continuously.”
Quote 5 rebuttal - Players do this anyhow – FotM. Currently the only reasonable reward system within this game (in their opinion). Also, it sounds like those players would be getting all of the rewards which are projected globally (i.e. to everyone within an area/map/zone/server). Players will do things within the game that makes them feel they are rewarded accordingly, and in many situations it has caused ANet to nerf it.
Quote 6 - “When one activity emerges that’s order of magnitudes more profitable than anything else in the game, it forces everyone to either engage in that activity or get priced out of the economy.”
Quote 6 rebuttal - So the best way is to nerf the rewards for that activity? Rubbish, in the end this will make all of the activities unrewarding and cause its reward/goal to be pushed further back in relation to time spent. Also, it sounds like the other reason for DR is to have the reward system more balanced – which, apparently, is not what DR was functioned to do. “Two birds with one stone.” as the saying goes.
Quote 7 - “…we have no desire to stop farming. Farmers are a part every online economy and when they are doing normal game activity they do not cause any harm. If a player finds a normal game activity fun and would like to keep doing it, that’s fine with us.”
Quote 7 rebuttal - This (DR) has effectively done the opposite to what you are saying. I want to farm lodestones. I effectively can’t. I want to farm karka shell. I effectively can’t. I want to farm "X’ item. I EFFECTIVELY CAN’T, BECAUSE OF DR! These are all reasonable normal game activities within an MMO, and one cannot effectively do it because of this AND the fact that RNG is involved.
Quote 8 - “Initially we have to rely on smaller data sets, instinct and some guesswork to find the correct cut-off. What this means is that some players are going to bump into the edges of these systems for a while as we get them sorted out. Please bear with us while we gather more data and lower the safety net until it’s only providing critical economy protection.”
Quote 8 rebuttal - I would presume that “time” is one of the cut-off variables. Bumping into the edges of this system is what players continuously do. Furthermore how long are we to ‘bear with you’ on this issue? I really hope that the upcoming update fixes this, otherwise you can say goodbye to a large portion of the player-base.
Quote 9 - “I hope this helps to explain why a game like this needs systems such as this to protect its economy. I also hope it gives some insight into our philosophy about botters (BAD) and exploiters (BAD) vs. farmers (GOOD). Thanks for your support and we will see you in game.”
Quote 9 rebuttal - It sure does help explain why you have employed DR into this game, but, it does not help the games cause, and it has not for over 3 months.
Am I the only one who thinks that ANet is using DR for more than just against botters? Within Johns post there are some clear indications how DR works and why its there – which correlates to how loot drops (should) occur and how this helps the TP work as ANet intends it to.
Furthermore, ANet’s motto ““Guild Wars 2 is a game about freedom. We want you to be able to explore the world and engage in a huge variety of activities, focusing on whatever best suits your tastes.”, clearly falls apart whilst DR has been implemented. The sheer number of complaints about this issue and lack of adequate resolve for over lengthy period clearly indicates, to me, that ANet is incapable of tackling this issue.
GG ANet.

I have been confused ever since I found these two.
Honestly, from the thread title, those 2 were what I was expecting the OP to bring up.
Natural Vigor – Ranger class. (Wilderness Survival is a trait line for the ranger that focuses on defensive combat maneuvers.)
Adrenal_Implant – Engineer class. (Tools is a trait line for the engineer that focuses on use of utility kits and endurance.)
Both classes function differently, therefore similar/same traits bonues may differ with what level they are avilable at.

So whats the purpose of the wheels on the attached image? Is that not a mount?
Back to the topic. Please don’t make me go Mr-English on you all….you asked for it.
Mount (Verb) – to get up, climb, onto something (i.e. horse)
Mount (Noun) – an act of mounting (i.e. horse riding), something available for riding (i.e. bicycle, car)
In both cases, the term ‘mount’ is associated with getting up onto something and/or/not riding it. It does not state how long or restrain from what object can be mounted. As long as you are on top of an object then you are mounted on it.
Class dismissed.

Because each servers has players from various time zones, your suggestion you implicate that certain players would mostly see day OR night. Remeber, majority of player-based plays in the evening/night during their local time.

The new currency earned from daily and monthly category completion is an account wide currency that is visible in your inventory, next to your karma. No inventory space required!
This sounds good, but, have you considered that players will take advantage of this and farm across all alts to get something for their main?
Few other things on the agenda
1) Conversion ratio between AP and Laurels – any info on that? Perhaps 50-200 AP per 1 Laurel?
2) Will the conversion occur automatically and remove the AP or will we have something similar to the gold-gem mechanic (i.e. buy/exchange)?
3) Are there many players with a large number of AP that might be affected? What is your perceived threshold for this?
Cheers,

Most players are infact complaining about SKILLED players and seems wanting toremove skill from the equation for battle resutls…..
And this is where the kitten hits the fan most of the time.
I’ve seen this happen on many occasions. Noob players cry that they are getting owned, but forget that perhaps the other player has better skill, equipment, played for longer, knows good tactics, is in a guild, etc.; so many reasons to counter this argument.
In the end, ANet is just looking at numbers, and if it fits into their “nerf bracket”, they will step in.

It wasn’t a counter-argument.
What ever the prices may be, in 10 months time who knows how many players will still play GW2. The upcoming update might break or make this game. IF, this update makes things worse then really what is the point of undertaking goals that can potentially take over half a year.
The game needs to draw im players and encourage to undertake lengthy goals such as the legendary – at the moment it’s certainly doing the opposite.

Right now farming is more annoying than rewarding. One cannot concentrate on a particular area/zone to farm a particular item because DR is haunting you and you will end up grinding.
Players want to do particular things within the game, however, have this huge barrier dropping constantly infront of them (i.e. DR), while ANet continuously says “…we want you to play the game how you want to.’.
With all the constraints put in place, ones own gameplay definitely looks like a singular and narrow path toward a goal.
I can find particular items I am farming for while keeping on the move. So I find your statement more aimed at laziness on your part.
Sorry I meant some particular items (eg. lodestones). No, I am not lazy and do travel alot. However, some items can only be gotten from a particular zone/area, hence with DR looming it makes this an unenjoyable farming experience to say the least.

Just to clarify something, ascended gear is not meant to be related to FotM only. It was rolled out via this dungeon, however, this new gear tier is meant to be obtainable (eventually) throughout GW2 world.
This is the next step ANet has taken to allow Ascended gear to be more readily available. The question I have is – Is this the ony method they (ANet) have added? If so then, IMO, more could have been done.

Grinding and Farming are two similar descriptions, however, vary with respect to the context you use them in.
Grinding – Relentless, tedius, repetitive and often unenjoyable gameplay towards an achievement/goal.
Farming – Repetitive and less inclined to be unenjoyable/tedious gameplay towards an achievement/goal.
Overall, in terms of repetive gameplay that is unenjoyable to the player, ‘grinding’ would be higher up on the scale than ‘farming’.

I grinded out the 420g that it cost for me to buy my Dawn. Why can’t you?
I did it hardcore over a week and a half. If you don’t want to grind you can get it in a month.
A lot of people can only play a few hours a day, if that, and not necessarily everyday. Let’s say you can play two nights during weekdays for an hour, then 2 hours on sat and sun for a total of 6 hours a week. At your estimated 3.5g/hour, it would take 20 weeks to get a precursor. And that’s only half the battle.
So is there anything wrong if alot of people(casuals) take 10 months to make legendary(going by those estimates)?
Except in n those 10 months the price will double, so they will still be exactly where they started.
Price may double, but who knows how well the game will be doing in 10 months time. D3 was hyped up to be really good and it’s not doing so well after 8 months.

You will need to look into the following parameters:
- Zone played in
- Time of play (GMT)
- Time spent in zone
- Activities undertaken
In the end there are too many variables to look into to make this experiment as accurate as possible. What you will get from your table is the average. What you need to get out of your data is clearly showing the variables that control DR and when it kicks in; this has been already pointed out several times.
Basically, DR kicks in because of repetition of a particular gameplay style. Your best chance is to keep changing your game play, especially in line withe the ones I wrote above.
