That being said, we’re trying to offset some of that random chance by implementing systems like our new laurel system (and other additions down the road) to help give players more opportunities to earn specific rewards as well over time. This gives the capacity for those exciting “jackpot” moments of getting a big reward, while also helping provide a more clear long term timeline when you can earn the same reward for those who don’t hit the moment-to-moment jackpot since for those who are extremely unlucky, it can be very frustrating.
So, in other words, DR bugged RNG and ANet couldn’t fix it or didn’t want to fix it, and instead opted to add new systems such as Laurels to offset this bugged feature (DR)?

Killed few vets/champs and all I got was junk, scraps or low level jumk. Nothing more insulting than getting a porous bone from a champion I tell ya.

Colin Johanson. I (we) appreciate the work ANet has done with regards to this, however, the only logical solution to this debacle would be to remove DR code for a certain period so that players can respond back with their “perceived” loot findings. Otherwise, we’ll keep on running in circles. This is my opinion and one which seems to be shared with others. Is it that hard to remove the DR code? Or you don’t want to?

I got a level 80 Ele that since then has acquired 300+ trait points.
I would have liked the cap to be lv100, however only for the character and not items/tiers. This would most likely result in these also needing to be upscaled, therefore…

I’m Australian and had no problem getting the daily done. I didn’t even have to try, it just happened naturally while I was gaming
I love it when the natural order of evolution…occurs naturally.

It is not hard to find some online buddies via this game. All it takes is…wait for it….’hey mate you wanna do this on a more frequent basis?
The problem is, majority of players prefer not to engange in finding online buddies. What ever the reason may be, there is plenty of group-based activities within this game.

This is my take on what I do with items based on particular rarity:
White – Salvage
Blue – Sell to Vendor
Green – Sell to Vendor, or, to TP if profit higher (but this rarely happens)
Yellow – Salvage for ectos, contenplate whether to sell in TP (if profit good)
Orange – Sell to TP or salvage for ectos (hardly keep any unless this will be part of my fial gear).
The risk vs. Reward is simple based on what I generally do with my items:
- Killing normal mobs (minimum white)
- Killing Veterans (minimum green)
- Killing Champions (minimum yellow)
Killing vet/champ from DEs should also yield better RNG towards yellow/orange than in general case. Furthermore the RNG should be scaled base don the mobs level – higher level better RNG towards yellow/orange tier items.

Actually about 15% of the population finds making money very fun, irrelevant of the uses of that money. Ever gotten unnecessarily rich in a single player RPG like Skyrim?

I don’t see an issue with the revamped daily quest, and it doesn’t take me longer than before.
Dodge is part of GW2 core gameplay mechanic and a tactical manouver to prevent the enemies attack from hitting. Also, it is to make the gamer engange the game more actively rather than spam attack/defense buttons – like traditional games of this genre have done before.

Agreed. Risk and Reward should be balanced. At the moment it is skewed.
Giving each participating player at least one rare, with the possibility of a exotic, will not crash your economy, but will make the gamers more happy due to the risk they took and reward they got.

Went to Orr yesterday for an hour.
- 10+ whites
- 6 blues
- 0 greens
- 1 rare (an orb from mining, sigh)
- -1 exotic (it’s not a typo)
- 36 bones
- 10-12 crafting/salvagable materials
- about 1/4-1/3 nothing
Oh and not even one of those chests dropping from mobs. I have no idea how this looks on the mob – share a pic?
So from the looks of it, this patch has not improved my loot….uuuuu Star Craft 2 has dropped in price

1) Remove DR and drastically improve RNG.
2) Remove gold/gem fluctuation and adjust TP so there is less incentive to use it.

Sounds like people hate dodge daily as well? How hard can this be…seriously
i) Ettin – dodge before he pounds it ground.
ii) Vet. Oakenheart – dodge before it pounds the ground.
iii) Minotaur – dodge before it rams you.
iv) Troll – dodge before the ceeling falls on you.
v) Dredge – dodge before he shoot you.
There is one thing that makes me wonder though. I am an elementalist and if I use ‘Lightning Surge’ or ‘Gust’ during the mobs attack will that count towards a dodge? Just curious…

Seriously? IT’S A KITTEN MMO!!! Player/player interaction is what makes it an MMO and bound to happen throughout. Furthermore, your suggetion implies that you do not wish to part-take in group activities, especially those at the core level, which this game is full of!

@ wildcode.5403 I know they should not be visible unless you have not uncovered the area, however, when exploring zones for the first time you could uncover the area and not go to the waypoint; which would show up on the map as a hollow square. The issue I’m having, and whether this is a bug, is that the entire map (apparently) is uncovered, yet these two do not show up on the map!
I know it’s not a biggie, but, still, the map should have them on as hollow squares if you have not been to them lol.

Patch Notes
- In PvE, if a player is awarded loot by killing a creature and the loot is of uncommon rarity or higher, a chest will appear that contains the loot that would previously have been on the corpse. If the rarity of the loot on the creature is lower than uncommon, the loot will remain on the creature’s corpse.
ANet: Based upon my experience and that of other posters here, it appears the PvE Loot Chests are not working as intended. Would you please look at and if at all possible fix this – also, I can’t help but wonder if the chests are being missed. An update to make these chests more obvious might be needed?
Also – Should we expect all blues + higher; &/or all greens + higher; &/or what in the loot chests? All my blues and 1 green were all looted from the mob corpse and I didn’t see any loot chests at all. I used the Alt key for most of my kills to make sure I wasn’t missing chests.
It seems the issue I was having with drops has been resolved with this patch so far. I feel much better and I hope it continues.
This is good news, Drew, but lets give it a few days to see if Diminishing Returns triggers on you and reduces your drops again. Also – please let us know what your experience is with the PvE loot chests.
Has anyone found a rare or exotic in a PvE loot chest at all?
A final note for this post: The patch notes indicated nothing about Champs/Vets being changed and I can confirm from my personal experience that at least Vets are still dropping nothing.
I think what they have done here is add another piece of code based on the RNG. Make the ratio (i.e. RNG) between junk and not (i.e. chest) better towards the non-junk item. This means that your chance of getting something of higher rarity has now improved when compared to before. This is the simplest method, because instead of changing code more, you are essentially adding another IF that encapsulates the already written code.
Then give this code a pretty face (i.e. a chest) and run the RNG within it to give an item from blue rarity upwards.
Simple and effective, but I wish the minimum rarity within the chest was green…not blue.

Try checking your system timezone…it might be showing what looks to be the right date/time, but with the wrong timezone setting it’d be completely off when compared to any fully specified datetime.
e.g. I’m in Melbourne Australia, my current timezone is GMT+11. If you had your clock set to a US date/time with an Australian timezone, it’d look correct because the display doesn’t show timezone normally…but the full time would actually be something like 16-19 hours out (ahead of when it actually was – you’d see tomorrows stuff today).

The combo killer would have worked more effectively if that silly 20% chance of it happening was instead 100%. It resulted in many players beleiving it is broken.
Combo killer, should be based on having to use two different attacks which create an overall different effect whilst killing the mob. Currently the most sucessful outcomes are when an elementalist is part of the equation. Furthermore the combos have a limited combination number, however, many more attacks can be combined to create a combo kill.
So overall, the issue surfaced due to lack of suffcient combinations and low outcome percentage of 20%.

Either I am blind, or, I cannot see these when I view the map. I have not claimed these waypoints yet, however, they should still be visible right?

I dont know why they dont have open test servers. They obviously can’t test their releases properly on their own.
That may be true. However, a better resolve would be, IMO, if ANet developers actually played this game often enough. If they cannot afford test servers then individuals should be continuously participating in this game.

They probably didn’t make it account bound because players would exploit this. Dailys don’t take much time to do, in general. Players can make a character, do the daily, get reward, delete character and rinse’n’repeat.

ANet has provided more variety with the dailes. Sure some may be buggy, but overall most are simple things you do within this game yet are not tedious/gridning, provided you know how to minimize the effort/time.
Underwater combat – how hard is it to kill x ammount of enemies underwater?
Crafting – how hard is it to refine 10 items?
Revive – how hard is it to let an NPC die x ammount of time and revie it?

In my opinion, there is too much incentive to use the TP so that one can progress with their game goals. The below quote has merit and puts my opinion well in perspective.

(1): +28 Condition Damage
(2): +15 Toughness
(3): +55 Condition Damage
(4): +35 Toughness
(5): +100 Condition Damage
(6): 5% of Toughness becomes Condition Damage
I have another 5 or 6 spares to make more of these runes – if I get other armor.

May I suggest, as per Aproposs Of Fire.4056 above post, that each one of us runs Cursed Shore for an hour when you first log on and for three days in a row? Post your statistics.
I am intereseted in the ration between junk/nothing and not; i.e does it increase at the end of the hour, what is the overall ratio etc.
