Here are my tips
- Usually a good contrast is important as it gives definiton to certain parts of armor.
- Having different shades of the same colour gives a nice flowing look.
- Try to stick to few colours only. You do not need to look like a rainbow.
- Use the same colour set throughout all armor pieces.
For example
1) Start off with brighter colours at the top and tone it down towards the bottom. Say yellow and white top, then mostly yellow, red/orange and white towards the bottom.
2) Using differnet shades of blue whilst using white. Light blue at the top, darker blues in the middle and light blue at the bottom. Play around with the ammount of white colour from top to bottom.

Yeah I like it. I’ve been in the situation where I went out of my way to rez someone and just as I got there, the person respawned…sighhhh
Perhaps right click on fallen team mate in mini-map, left click (On my way to revive you). This sends the message to the fallen one, he gets it and a shiny dot appears on the mini-map with your position. That way the fallen one can see how far away you are, which direction and whether its worth the hassle.

I wonder if people acutally pay attention to the popus stating information about the zones status.
Take the ‘Secrets in the Swamp’ meta event. Whenever I go to this zone, most of the time I read ‘The swamp lies dormant’. However, on occasions I read ‘Drive back Underworld creatures by destroying portals in the Heartwoods’.
These events need to be accomplished in order for the meta-event to continue towards finaly battling a boss.
Here is the link – http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Secrets_in_the_Swamp
The issue, and perhaps the bug with all of this, is what triggers these initial events. Or, maybe people just don’t pay attention lol.

Obtaining a legendary is still one of the hardest achievements within the game – as it should be. This is a long term goal. Many players are arguing that the finish line is way too far and the obstacles are too great to jump over – I think otherwise. The obstacles are the same for all of us.
Yes, there is an element of luck involved (i.e. Mystic Forge). However, this is all part of the game. A player may have some luck at one point, while another at another point while progressing towards obtaining a legendary.
People always have a choice. They just tend to choose the simplest anwser.

Hmmmmmm…
IMO, too many people rush to be the best and have the best in a game. Once they reach a certain plateau that requires too much grind/effort to jump the hurdle, then they begin to complain. Too often such changes to accomondate these complaints result in the game being put off balance for the rest.
A game can offer so much and GW2 has offered (offers) lots. The problem is that the mentality of a gamer is to pursue to be the best, regardless of the theme/type, so once enough players reach a certain high plateau, the game developers need to cater for them – and what best way than to add content which makes it even harder than before to gain something they have not acquired yet.
This is the only logical progression that gamers and gaming industry takes. Things just keep getting harder so that only select few can “boast” about having it done. The only problem is, by that time, majority of players would have moved on because they got bored with it.

My Gaming Background
I’ve played online FPS games for about 12 years. Mostly RtCW and then switched to RtCW:Enemy Territory. In between though, I played the following:
- Call of Duty series (switched to it from RtCW:ET)
- Command and Conquer series
- Track Mania
- Doom
- Counter Strike
- Many other FPS/RPG/Driving games
My Opinion on GW2
This is the first time I have attempted to play an MMO-RPG. Perhaps some might ask me – why the switch? Well I still have the swiftness/accuracy/reaction of an FPS player, however, I got fed up with the childish and haxor infested CoD community. Furthermore, my lifestyle changed and I could not afford to put so much time/effort into FPS games anymore. So I decided to try a more recreational/casual game.
I never really understood the hype about WoW and I got turned off from trying a MMo-RPG due to a simple reason – why the kitten would I pay for the game and on top of that pay a monthly service fee?! So I decided to try GW2. GW1 got a good response from the community and thought this might be even better – so here are pro/cons on the game.
Cons
- Game bugs. Yeah, some of them are annoying more than others, but wish that ANet representative put little more incentive/effort in addressing the issue(s). I’m sure they are busy and are doing what they can, however, the biggest issue within a gaming community is LACK of constant communication between them and the game developers/representatives. Overtime players tend to feel left out and thus tend to vent their frustration/rage/QQ on the forums. Which is not good for either party – it’s what happened with MW3 lol.
- Camera movement. This perhaps is my major gripe with the game – Nothing more annoying than the camera zooming erratically. Example – battling a mob in the field with some bushes – turns around and suddenly camera zooms because it moved over a bush…like what the kitten?!
- Probably others but these are common amongst players and really don’t need to be posted.
Pros
- Game design is beautiful and the overall gameplay is really cool. I enjoy questing and doing objectives/achievements. There is so much to do within the game. Because I am a completionist, I tend to get drawn in and try to do all of it at once; however, I know that with this game I don’t have to because the tasks are spaced out well.
- Gaming community behaviour is really good thus far. I enjoy seeing team work (it’s why I enjoyed/played RtCW:ET so much). The events within the game are great and it caters for players with different gameplay focus.
- This is a good game for me because it fits with my lifestyle (which is important), there are aspects that want me to play it for a long time (completing/achieving), and I enjoy being amongst this community, which MMO-RPG games heavily rely on.

They don’t. Think of gems as real world gold. You can exchange money for gold (and vice-versa) all the time, however, it fluctuates – similarly within the game.

Name: Death Reincarnated
Main Character: Einsteintenious (Elementalist)
Current Server: Crystal Desert
Interested Activities: Completionist – everything involving PvE
Active:From Australia – Mostly thursday evening and saturday day, sometimes other week day nights.
Additional Comments: I’m not a noob at this game but I’m not the best. I will help out when I can but don’t expect me to own the mobs.
Are you willing to participate in Operation: UNION’S project, Y/N?: Yeah, whenever I can
@glitch
I think I received a Guild invite from you. Was the guild called something ‘honoured’? If so, for some reason not sure how to accept – there is no accept button lol. I never considered being in a guild since I like to solo and occasiaonly bump into players and work together.
I have a ‘Letter of Commendation’ to use up as well

From what I understand, people travel to a particular event then move on. Why not stick around the zone for an hour killing mobs and doing other events?
If you travel just for one event, afcourse it won’t favour you in terms of gold.

Just skimming through the posts…
What I noticed is that people complain about the T6 mat price. It sounds to me that people prefer to farm gold and convert it (buy) to T6 mats, rather than farm for it. If this is true then its logical that due to such high demand the price will go up.
Furthermore, if this process (farming gold then buying precursors) is used for other precursors then this will also cause prices to go up.
Sounds to me like, initially, people found an ’"easy" method to progress towards a legendary, however, TP saw this and bumbed up the prices.
Now people complain…again lol.

Ok Recently I have been getting slightly annoyed at the use of TP. Here are the issues/annoyances I am having.
1) It has to do with having the TP (press ‘O’) and my inventory (‘I’) simultaneously loaded on the screen. On the TP I search the name of an item/weapon/armor/etc. I do this by first finding out the name of it via hovering/clicking over the item in my inventory, then clicking on the search bar in the TP and typing the name down – sometimes if the name is too long I need to hover over it in the inventory again.
Once I am done I go to the next item (same as before), however, when I try to type in the next item in the TP search bar, suddenly any keystrokes I make will involve my character in the background. I need to quit the TP and restart the search.
2) Whenever I quit the TP and reload it, it always goes back to the “official/initial” page. Why does it do that? Not sure about others, but I would rather have the same page load up when I turn the TP off and then back on.
3) Is there any way to copy and paste item names? Some of the item/armor/weapon/etc names as realy long and it would save time when looking up the item on the TP – right clik item, copy name, then paste.

Yeah, my dye-dropping-rate seems to be normal as well – 1-2 per 3 hours of gameplay.
Perhaps, the rate increases with increasing level? Some higher level mobs might have a higher % drop rate of dye?

How can u calculate the global cooldown?
I mean, how u can say 0.5 0.5 0.5 is 2.5 ?This is an example autoattacks GS guard. Each attack lasts for half a second, but the entire chain lasts 2.5 seconds. This bug have all weapons and professions.
Did you take into account the activation time of the attack chain? Perhaps its 1sec, therefore it would equal to 2.5sec in total?

See this is whats interesting – you get Eternity from putting two legendary weapons and two other prerequisites. So why cant this be upscaled to 4 Legendary weapons?
Yeah sure it can give back 1 legendary weapon, OR, it could hypotheticaly give something of higher value. I have not found any information about this being the end point of crafting at the mystic forge.
Perhaps there is something with this and maybe someone is willing to gamble lol.

When someone is trying to achieve a goal which requires X ammount of this and X ammount of that, they need to farm for it. The term “farm” can now be applied to situations where a player needs to move about the map in order to get the required items – not sit in one spot and chop down the same tree over and over and oveeeeer.
Just look at the ammount of people “farming” events and such on ’Malchor’s Leap’ and ‘Cursed Shore’.
ArenaNet has tried to reimage the typical grind/farm system, and it has worked to a certain degree, however, there will always be “exploits” in terms of farming objects ASAP for an achievement such as a legendary weapon.

Hey,
To me teleporting costs are insignificant because I earn enough dosh from selling loot when do things around areas of a map. However, I do agree with you on that teleporting within each zone should be free – at least the first couple of times.
The cost its self is scaled based on the level of the character. Similarly the cost of fixing broken equipment is scaled based on the quality of it.
In the end the ammount of dosh you earn from doing things offsets the cost of traveling.

@unknowable.8470
U can still use a broken hammer for nailing, so theres no point in fixing it… ey?

Hmmmm it makes me wonder…
Assuming that, for example, adding 4 of certain tier items does not give lower tier items, I wonder if one would get a legendary weapon or some epic/godly/unknown one.
Would be interesting if the outcome was a weapon which could be used across all character types.
Here is an idea for ArenaNet…if they have not already began pondering about it.
Or perhaps this is the ultimate grind!

This is starting to sound like a broken record – grinding.
Any game will always have aspects of gridning – its called achieving exreme challenges (AEC). There are certain high end achievements that require to be grinded in order to be achieved; otherwise it would not separate the commited players with the rest.
The point is, players reach a plateau of game completion and when are introduced with a challenge that is too high for them, they complain and moan and lash out its going to be grinding. You need to put effrot into something to get a result, the more effort you put it the higher the reward. Simple.
The entire game system is not grinding, just some aspects of it which are mostly associated with AEC. This is normal for any game who will reward players that are willing put that extra effort. Yes it can be tedious, but really, this occurs in real life as well – eg. work projects and long term outcomes.

As pointed out above by Jefferey Vaughn, logging out, moving to a different zone and dying (being in ‘downed’ state is ok) will fail the achievement.
Peviously I logged out and was like W…T…Kitten?! However, I finally managed to get it last night – albeit, after 2-2.5hrs. I am currently trying to get 100% world completion. so with that progress it took me 3/4 of Fields of Ruin zone/map.
Here are my tips:
1) Chose a higher level zone/map – it will give more XP per kill etc.
2) Complete everything on that zone – Skill Points, Vistas, Points of Interest Renown Hearts, Dynamic Events.
3) If a particular map is complete – Do as many Dynamic Events as possible.
4) Farm everything in your path.
5) Kill as many mobs as possible, but, here is the trick/boost – kill mobs in places where you think there would be not much player traffic. Mobs who have spawned for ages will give bonus XP. When I was doing that map, I was getting 300-500 bonus XP per kill!
6) Try and take on stronger enemies (i.e. Veterans). These give more XP.
7) IF you do not want to stay the entire course of Renown Hearts, and I know this may sound anti-helping to co-players, just do a fraction of it. If you know the event will be successfull, you should get at least silver medal for completing it.
Hope this helps.

Yes, that was the jumping puzzle with the vet near the skill point and vista across a small gap onto a pillar. Took us a while to figure this one out lol. We were running in circles around the skill point. Then, I thought, maybe need to go down further. One path lead to another and we got it done
@omerk.2709
Thanks for the inventory tip – I might create bags with more slots then. One thing I could recommend is to have a spare ‘Bank Access Express’ item in your invetory just in case it fill up or you want to transfer some good items to it.

I had a nice time working with another player trying to get the same skill point/vista near Breached Wall Waypoint in Diessa Plateau. Took us good hour to figure out how to get up there and work through the enemies. Mind you when we got stuck the mobs were spawning too often but luckily there were two of us.
We pwnd the skill point up there by defeating the VET, then suddenly my game-buddy went AFK. I jump across the ridge to get the vista but he was still AFK. At that point the VET respawned and killed him. I waited till he came back, which he did, and asked you need rez? So I redid the whole trip to get to that skill point…killed the VET, rezzed my online-buddy and soon after parted our way.
Tis was a good moment and honestly I had fun!

@Logun.2349 I understand where you are coming from. Basically by introducing this new gear tier, players need to conform to a particualr method of gameplay to obtain higher rewards.
What I don’t understand is this. To obtain the curernt exotic/legendary weapons, players do dungeons. With regards to Ascended gear tier, you still need to do the Fractals dungeon, don’t you? Said that, this is only a fresh new addition and perhaps more dungeons and end game content will allow for players to not be forced (i.e. conform) to a particualr method fo gameplay in order to obtain these Ascended items.
I think we shouldnt jump to conclusions as yet. Time will tell.

I think it also depends on how the person likes to play.
- If you like to slash and pound at the enemy then ‘Warrior’.
- If you like to atack enemies from afar then ‘Ranger’.
-If you like to inflict conditions and Area of Effect (AoE) then ‘Elementalist’.

Fair enough that this event had its flaws – particularly reffering to lotto-loot (ill call it ‘lootto’), however, some people are starting to behave like little kids with the way they present their complaints.
This isn’t the end of the world. Some players got very lucky. Thats it. ArenaNet can learn from this, and I’m sure they will.
I still recall getting my first rare staff from a fallen mob. Yes I would like to get better items but I know there are many who have also unique items and kudos to them. I will try to get what I can from my gameplay and, honestly, I couldnt care less that others have better loot than me. This is about me having fun and not trying to beat others by having the best loot – did people forget that?

Ok, I’ve re-read this – https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/linsey-murdock-unveils-new-high-end-ascended-gear/
Now regarding ‘Agony’, ‘Fractals Dungeon’ and ‘Ascended gear’. It all ties up with ‘end game content’ as quoted from the above link:
“As we release more new end game content in the future, you’ll see more Infusions and Ascended item types being added to the game. Eventually, you’ll be able to kit yourself out with a full set of Ascended gear and high end Infusions to help give you the edge in end game content.”
So what is this ‘end game content’?
If it is for the purposes of PvE ONLY then really it is all just extra content thrown in to keep things interesting.
I would actually wait and see what kind of stats are produced by the ascended gear. From what I understand, legendary weapons are just cosmetics, however, Exotic weapons currently offer the highest stats. Now with the introduction of Ascended, this would topple over Exotic stats. (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Item)
People were dissapointed that Legendaries had stats similar to Exotics, so ANet introduced more game content with new gear level. Sounds like they are giving people what they want and yet many are still not satisfied.

My advise.
Anything that crosses your path (i.e. gathering, killing enemies, doing hearts, finding vistas, points of interest), DO THEM!
The way I approached the personal story was to actually complete the zones/maps first before moving on with the story points; which allowed me to be several levels above the next part of the story.
You may feel like you are grinding, but the rewards will come – in bucke loads of XP hehehe.
As for crafting, well, I would suggest reading up on it rather than me or anyone writing a book here. But basically, the more you kill enemies the more crafting materials you will obtain – which equates to more crafting and thus more XP.
GL.

The reward should be as awesome as the event itself – Apprently, many were dissapointed with the reward.
I hope ArenaNet take this into consideration since it will (most likely) deter many of those players from attending similar events in the future.
Do not click this link!
Ok here is a POV.
Why are people so overly concerned with the introduction of this new gear tier?
If you dont wan’t to do it (obtain, gather etc.) then don’t, simple. Or is it because you know you will do it but could not be bothered with another task?
If the latter is the case then why bother with it?
See, its a loop.
There are lots of tasks/goals/achievements to do in this game. All of which require “grinding” to complete. This new ‘Ascended’ gear tier is no different.
The point is, people are drawn towards completing stuff but hate to put in the effort – well tough luck my friend(s). The higher the reward the more effort needs to be put in.
I don’t see anything wrong with the introduction of the Ascended gear. Its not demoralising, however, what it does is add more content and cater for those who want to use it.

Once you hit high player level, go back to the starting zones of each race. These events can be easily soloed.
Do not click this link!
One time events should only be run once per account, this way the loot quality can be bumped up and it won’t hurt the TP. Yes, there is a probability factor with regards to what can be looted at the end of such an event, however, there are also several counter arguments why the loot is soo random; clearly mentioned several times herein.
The OP has made some valid points with regards to the win/loss ratio. ArenaNet has clearly described this to be a unique event and thus the point of a such an event, IMO, is such:
1) Bring players together to fight a common enemy.
2) Provide unique content.
There are several other points that could be included, however, the above two points sum up, what IMO are, reasons for introducing such events.
So now, taking these two points into consideration, then naturally at the end of an event there is the reward – loot. Majority of people will not deny that the primarly reason for doing such an event is obtaining the reward(s) at the end of it. Furthermore, people “hope” that the reward will be unique enough since this is a very unique event – which ArenaNet has clearly pointed out.
Then the biggest “loss”, which IMO should have been avoided, was to allow the loot to be randomly generated as it always is for any general event within the game. This, IMO, will hurt ArenaNet with regards to future event of such caliber. Why? Simply because people who were dissapointed previously might not want to go through a similar risk/reward scenario.
There are a lot of statistical variables that can be discussed herein with reagards to the risk/reward system used in this event, however, reading through this thread, the general consensus is that people are somewhat dissapointed with the quality of the loot they obtained from this event.

D_R

With that in mind, it usually means that players should be more aware of the enivornment they are in. Concentraiting JUST on the boss itself is a silly strategy. Yes this boss is tough, yes there is strategy, but more importantly TEAM WORK is required to beat this baddy.
