Some of the core game mechanics fall appart in Orr. I think, ANet though to keep it the same throughout, however make it harder (in Orr) by adding more mobs and higher respawn rates – this is the simplest way, in their opinion, to increase the difficulty curve.
IMO, this is not the way it should have been done…
There is a difference between annoying and hard gameplay. The mob density can be as it is, HOWEVER, the CC time and respawn rates are not balanced. Combine this with the general RNG parameter for loot and you will find that players will lack enthusiasm to roam through these areas.
In general, as the gameplay harders the rewards should be better – yet due to having the same RNG throughout, in my expericene, my effort results in sub-par loot (i.e. blues and greens too often) in Orr.
Just yesterday I went from Orr to Hinterlands and found 2 yellows in less than 2hrs of gameplay, whereas I have roamed through Orr only to get greens at most.
This needs to be fixed ASAP. We are already seeing that players prefer NOT to go to Orr.

If I were to put in a coin everytime I saw a mob do this…I’d have myself a legendary by now.

@everyone Sighhh I got tired of running around in Orr lol. Time to try some dungeons. I will jump on Saturday morning (AUS time). Hit me up and will join guild for some dungeon crawling.
I am an offensive Elementalist btw so I can AoE alot of those mobs if you can get them clustered. Should be fun and interesting!

No, no and once again no.

The statistics are wacky tobacy because for 200hrs of gameplay I got 11 keys and 48 chests.
Don’t ask me how I managed this – I just play the game .

I agree. I am currently running through trying to just get all of these without bothering much to participate. This is not my cup of tea and I should not be “forced” to go through WvWvW maps to get a standard single player achievement such as this.

Yes, I agree. When you zoom out far enough on the map it should show which zones are complete. Or even, show up the completion status for each of the individual things – i.e. POI/vista/etc

Allright!!! Done with the PvE world completion. Started the WvW completion but to me, thus far, it’s more annoying that Orr lol.
The maps are like several zones combined, and then you have 3 world zones and one common one to go through and find vista/POI/etc. Oh and not to mention that you need to go through the enemy parts to get therse… I CBF TBH LOL!
Anyways, currently “grinding” in Orr for rare/exos so if you see me online in guild let me know and we can do some dungeons or run through Orr. I have not commenced any dungeons yet so I would need to do story first.
Ok see you guys around.

I want that baby quaggan plushie though…
Sorry but that to me looks liek either plasticine or porcelain.

Yes, it is annoying, however, you regain health as well when you pull far away enough from the mob(s).
Perhaps, not let the mob(s) regain health once it goes down below 20%?

Healing rain takes too long to conjure. Better off with d/d
That is because its use is for group type events. I was part of a zerg-fest on the arah event – and you can imagine what my healing rain was doing to the zergs.

I do swap attunements in PvE all the time. Reason being is that I prefer to pull in several mobs at once. It not only improves your awareness but once you learn how to work using this you do not have to spend more time taking one enemy at a time – especially in Orr zones.

Here are another 5 from me:
…your dog takes a dump and you respond with “That is one rich node.”
…every time you hear the word “grind” it reminds you of GW2.
…while sitting on the toilet you desperately search for TP on the TP.
…you decide to use the cooks discovery pane to make dinner for your wive/girlfriend.
…as the first person to stand on mars your first words are “The world explorer completion is still bugged!”

I have played for 204 hrs and got 11 keys.

Here are my next five.
…you nickname your annoying boss Trahearne.
…you kill a c0kroach (=kittenroach but word filter) with a flame from your deodorant.
…you help someone out and wonder how much karma you gained.
…you open a letter and are shocked to find no coin inside.
…your mum tells you to go to bed and you reply with “But it’s still daylight in LA”.

This is a true one for me:
…when you load up the GW2 forum webpage and your G/F says “Oh god…not this again!”

I do agree with you on the most part, however, the problem with this is that you get XP for uncovering areas within the zones and such. Chaning the timeframe of getting XP with respect to the players level will not help the gameplay.

Omg get him to follow you to Lion’s Arch! That would be sooooo much fun.

Zombie tree creature? I never heard of those mobs before – are you sure youre not mistaken? You mean the big veteran tree-like creatures walking around?
LOL the next thing we see all these methods of getting this done. By that stage it will feel like the ‘Getting yoshi methods in Mario 64.’ Now that was classic lol.

Yes, the CC can be annoying and it has happend to me on occasions. IMO, the ammount of time spent being “stuck” after being CC should be less.
IF, however, you get yourself CC and there are several mobs attacking you, you need to go defensive ASAP.
As an elementalist I go Earth shield the moment I get CC.

Welcome to all of the new additions to this guild.
My current status on world completion is – Cursed Shore to go! Personally, I dislike Malchor’s Leap. Cursed Shore is little bit annoying but overall I’m having more fun there than in the previous zone.
Will let you more as I progress towards the end of this zone but there seems to be quite a few players in this zone. I will most likely spend some time here so anyone wanting to party up – lets do it!

*Note: 100% map =/= 100% explorer
So true. Made me sad that after I had 100% map completion I still had like 59/60 Orr and 143/145 Maguuma or something like that. There’s no list or anything either that I can systematically check off where have and haven’t found.
This might help – http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/User:Bluestone/Explorer
That list compiles all of the area names per zone. Compare it with what you see on your map.

I’d love to see a deer zerg rush over Orr.
A veteran and champion risen discussing plants to invade the next waypoint in Cursed Shore.
Risen Veteran: "Whats that sound coming from Malchor’s Leap?’
Risen Champion: “Not sure. Sounds like a Zhaitan’s marching band. Maybe they defeated the enemies there and coming back all happy.”
Risen Veteran: “It’s not. Is that… deer?”
Risen Champion:“Oh kitten. Not this again.”
Risen Veteran:“What you mean, not again?”
Risen Champion: “Last time this happend, all we ate was deer for a year.”

You know you play too much GW2 when…
…you tell your GF/wife/parents that you are going to the local grocery store to harvest some items.
…you look at the high spike in your latest power bill usage.
…you decide to craft yourself a sweater with the logo “Proud member of a Guild Wars 2 guild”.
…you go to work and it feels like Orr.
…you dream of maiking out with your GW2 female character.
I’ll write more if you want hihihi.

I think the reason being is that the discussions derail within these threads which does not make it to be suitable for a sticky. Furthermore, although the OP is useful, there are still many posts within that are for/against – which a sticky should be basically all ‘for’.

You cannot completely remove grinding from any game. Otherwise the game would not offer long term goals for the player.
The problem is getting the balance right – i.e. grind/reward.
Partially incorrect.
The idea is to remove the grind but have long term progression.
People do not enjoy grinding, people do enjoy being rewarded however.
Take WoW for a PvE example, it’s less of a grind than this but it still feels highly rewarding.
Or take DAoC for a PvP example, not a grind but lots of long term progression through RR.
People do not like long term repetitiveness – it gets boring. You still need to do same/similar tasks to obtain some of the long/longer term goals, however, there needs to be balance with the lengh (repetitiveness) of the “grind”.

From that image you are not on top of the node, but beside it. The dot within the circle of your position has to be on top of it.
This means that, considering the picture you privided, the node is either higher up or somehwere hiding away.

The problem with the PC/console relationship is this:
These days many PC games are console ports, whereas, back in the good’ol PC gaming days the games were compiled for PC and if popular enough would be ported to console.

Been level 80 for quite a while now but progressing with world completion. Currently all I have left is half of Malchor’s Leap and Cursed Shore.
The agro distance feels longer than in previous zones. Like you need to be further away from a mob than normally so it doesn’t attack you. Plus the mobs are placed strategically well so that you need to either go all way around or aggro at least 2.

I don’t understand why such skills cause damage to the player activating them – they should not, full stop.
Are you asking for an explanation or just ranting?
Explanation: The problem skills transform the player, and some transforms are used for non-violent activities, so traits are stripped out at for those activities. ANet mistakenly applied the trait-removal to all transforms. I have no clue why, since you’d think that player choice should be respected in all areas of the game, but it’s ANet’s call on this one.
Rant: Yeah, this is really stupid bug. But we got dev communication and confirmation about a fix out of it, and it will get fixed. Hopefully the devs keep communicating. hearing from someone working on this is the only reason I’m not still screaming my head off in all the threads I can find.
I was definitely ranting lol. This kind of mistake should not happen. What is the point of using a particular skill if it will hurt the user in the first place…sigh lol.
Yeah, hopefully they will fix this soon

Depends on your play style.
If you prefer 1v1 more often then D/D.
If you prefer 1v2+ more often then Staff.
I think both of these are extremes of what particular gameplay style you like – while mixing scepters/focus/etc was probably meant to be something in between, however, either it does not work as intended, or, people just like to go either of the extremes.

Trahearne, IMO, does not act like a leader
- Yes hes got a big shiny sword (I have a massive bling on my staff)
- Yes he hasseen Zhaitan and lived to tell (I have also seen him via google)
- Yes hes green (I am blue, big deal)
- Yes he has knowledge of Orr (I have wikipedia)
- Yes hes the top rank NPC (I’m doing all the work)
- Yes he looks ugly (He wins in that department)

I am soloing Ruins of Orr, however, it is more difficult to do so than in previous zones – albeit, doable.
These end zones favour more towards team work and perhaps why many players do not play in these zones – they prefer to solo.
Its kind of an oxymoron if you think about it lol.

The issue here is that the introduction of new content is concentrated to one location – FotM. Anet pointed this to be a “bad” choice, however, with time this will be rolled out throughout Tyria.
Stop complaining already.
Too many players have rushed the content, have nothing or few things to do, so they find a somewhat easy method to continue on with this via FotM.
No wonder many are feeling they are grinding – stop doing ONLY FotM!
If instead the players went to Orr more often, perhaps, many waypoints wouldn’t be contested as often and overall the gameplay would be better for everyone.
I wonder if anyone remembers Orr during the 1st month after launch – I bet more players were there and bunched up to do events and such.
