Exotic weapons??

in Players Helping Players

Death Reincarnated.3570

I would suggest playing the game. By killing mobs in high level zones and gathering wood/stone/food it moves you along the road to an exotic weapon. Here are the benefits:

- Money from selling items.
- Salvage items.
- Gather wood and stone for crafting.
- Possibility to find Rare/Exotic items which can be kept, sold or salvaged for Ectoplasms (required for crafting exotic items)

It doesn’t matter how much data we give ANet – this will never be completely fixed.

Why?

There are too many variables involved in determining how and when DR hits. The only fix would be to remove this silly automated anti-bot system and go back to the traditional method.

If ANet is actually trying to fix this, then they are wasting their efforts and money – something that could have been used by having people ban bots and such from the begining.

Balance is the key here.

The moment a concensus grows that the players begin to feel they are spending too much money, usually indicates that the body which the money flows to is being greedy.

This is what you call high discount?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Death Reincarnated.3570

Lol you guys going to fall for that one as well?

Just check the gold to gem exchange rate (http://www.gw2spidy.com/gem) and compare it to before this sale came on. They employ a similar sale gimmick like at your local supermarket.

Just to give you an example:

Gold to gem before 3 day sale: ~1.65
Gold to gem during sale: ~2.1

BL Salvage kit before 3 day sale: 300 gem
BL Salvage kit during 3 day sale: 210 gem (30% discount)

Now go DO DA MAF!

The only true 30% saving would be if the exchange rate were the same – which is not because it is manipulated. Just because more people might be exchaning gold for gems does not necceseraly mean the exchange rate should go up – it only goes up because the company “adjusts” it to make more profit.

Takes me few minutes to kill a vet karka.

Like someone said – condition damage with dodge/stay away works like a charm.

This will not and should not be nerfed. It takes well some time to kill one solo and the Op was obviously playing his charactger well. If they nerf it it would just show that they only care about their money. There is nothing wrong in this video that would suggest exploit.

Changing of Armor Runes

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Death Reincarnated.3570

Death Reincarnated.3570

Well I finally crafted myself a full exotic set for my Elementalist. A whopping 1100 power and 900 condition damage…whoohoo.

Anyways…

I added same 6 superior runes to the gear and then bought an aqua breather from an NPC in Orr. It had some stat bonuses and a minor rune attached. I thought, why not add another same superior rune ?

So now the total says 7/6 in RED! Is this meant to be? Also for some reason the stats on the aqua breather do not add to the total.

Can anyone else confirm whether this is happening to them? I think both are bugs.

Perhaps increase the total superior runes to 7 holds instead of 6?

Cheers,

D_R

Probability takes math, cold unfeeling calculations. Luck makes you feel special, or cursed. They have absolutely nothing in common.

You win $50 million in the lottery, and you’ll feel pretty lucky right?

The odds are 1 in x number of people who bought the ticket.

The probability is 1/x

That’s what they have in common.

That is NOT how the lottery works. It is based on the statistical number of possible combinations that, say for example, 6 particular numbers will be drawn out of 45. It has nothing to do with how many people buy tickets.

Based on the fact that OP had so many items, it would have worked in his favour to sell as many of them on TP. I’m sure he would have made >100G

To answer your question. It is common for developers of any game not to admit their mistakes. If DR will go or another fix is implemented we most probably never hear about it.

If it ever gets fixed we will definitely know of it. A rush of posts from players stating they are not feared by the DR boogeyman will make it as obvious as the ammount of complaints currently floating around the forum.

ANet has, on several occasions, written that they need to take care of their “economy”; therefore, DR is certainly part of the economy (i.e. TP). Simply removing DR at this point will most likely break the economy, the problem however is similar to that of ‘thermal runaway’; the longer this continues the worse it will get.

The moment someone buys a legendary it will pave the road for the seller to make more legendaries – end result is the seller becomes richer and can control more of the market. ANet gets a fraction of the money, however, gives more power away to the seller.

Now do we really want this to happen?

Poor code implementation that is trying to work effectively in a chaotic system – COMPUTER SAYS NO!

How do you ger rid of the Permanent DR?

Death Reincarnated.3570

This happend to our guild leader a week ago! I know its very frustrating because same thing happend to me yesterday, excatly same thing! What you need to do right now is do NOT enter the zone your farming in for atleast 48 hours. Do dungeons/fractals, explore maps etc. Thats how he got rid of his PERM DR. I’ve had my perm DR for 24 hours now, and I’m still planning on going for another 24 hours just to be sure.

I can support this. The moment DR boogeyman started to haunt me I had to swtich zones that I have not been to for a long time. The problem here, however, is that he (boogeyman) would find me again so I would need to switch zones again. It does help out but it seems like you just should not play the game for 24hrs.

It feels like the DR is forcing me not to play the game for a certain period of time – I am a grown man and don’t need a mother-like figure telling me to get of the computer…

January updates - Any sources?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Death Reincarnated.3570

Death Reincarnated.3570

Hey guys,

Just to help provide some clarity on this, we’ll be releasing within the next couple of weeks a high level summary of our big plans for the first half of 2013 to help provide more transparency into our plans with the game going forward. This will include providing more details about our goals for the game, information about the stories and features that you’ll see in the Jan/Feb/March releases.

To set expectations accordingly, the January release will be a relatively small release that sets the table for the stories and features we plan to roll out with the Feb/March releases and beyond. Also, there will be no new race, profession, or new region with these larger Feb/March releases. One of our major goals with these releases is making our existing world as strong as possible, ensuring there are reasons to go to all the locations in the world we’ve already built, and strengthening the core game we’ve provided. In saying this will be an expansions worth of stuff in these releases, we’re talking about the number of new features that will be rolled out across PvE, WvW, and PvP in early 2013, which usually you’d only find in an expansion for a traditional MMORPG.

More details and specifics to come in the next couple of weeks, but I hope that helps provide some more insight into what to expect at a very high level.

As an Asuran crafting artificer would say – “Hmmm, Interesting.”

A new explorable region/zone would have been nice, however, seeing as you are suggesting that the PvE will be strengthened, I am glad of this.

Thank you for the update.

Thoughts on rarity and gold.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Death Reincarnated.3570

Death Reincarnated.3570

ANet is just as greedy as any player within the game who is willing to do anything to be the best or have the best items.

This game has gone from pure entertainment/enjoyment to a marketing gimmic that revolves around making money viat TP and converting real cash for gems.

Just look at the headline when you first go to GW2 website – “For a limited time, buy Guild Wars 2 and get a free upgrade to the Digital Deluxe Edition (a $20 value)…”

And here is what’s wrong with this picture:

i) Real currency is placed on the bonuses (i.e. free upgrades) which reflects back on the TP and gems.
ii) One of the free upgrades is a ‘Summon Mistfire Wolf Elite Skill’. This you can unlock at a later stage and considering it is quite easy to level up it is worthless.
iii) This “limited time” offer has been on before christmas. Furthermore, I specifically recall that this offer would end BEFORE christmas. Now for some reason it is still up there -weird huh? :P
iv) When a company begins to provide upgrades at standard price, any logically inclined person should know something is up. I’ll let you think about this one…

The balance has been tipped off between gold and rarity. Yes, many players are to blame for manipualting the game mechanics but as the saying goes ‘a stick has two ends’.

What the Orr.....

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Death Reincarnated.3570

Death Reincarnated.3570

Orr to me looks like several shades of grey stuck on a ferris wheel and spun around.

The mob density at some parts is ridiculous. Majority of the DE’s are not tackled – and ones that are are zerg fests because players found a decent reward method – yes I know of two, but will not say because it will get nerfed.

The reason why players do these DE’s is because they feel that this is the only rewarding place – and bucket loads of players cannot be wrong!

Then there is the respawn rate issue and overall unrewarding system that makes players not want to be in Orr – even in groups/guilds, so the core mechanic of Orr (i.e. group/guild/team work ) does not work here. If that is broken then this is a serious issue, and one which has not been fixed for quite some time now!

I totally agree that loot drop improvement would be better. Point is, MF gear is an illusionary mechanic that makes people believe they can get better gear than others – wake up people! This boat is over filling with like-minded people so the net result will NOT be better than without MF – remember, in ANet’s eyes, the economy cannot be broked by overuse of MF!

Killed a veteran octopus thing in Frostgorge Sound – got nothing

Then there are countless other veterans throughout the world who DON’T always yield loot.

Seriously, however you (ANet) have patched this, was a sloppy job. Perhaps the fix was meant for DE vets/champs only? If that is the case then, in my opinion, it is just not adequate.

No wonder I never see the two veteran giants in Orr being tackled!

Perm bans for snowflake exploit kinda harsh?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Death Reincarnated.3570

An exploit usually results from bad game coding to begin with.

In this case, the exploit manipualted the TP to a greater degree. The result was harsh but what is interesting is how quickly ANet responded. Just shows how pedantic they are about their TP and economy.

I bet if they didn’t make money of of it (TP) then they would not respond as quickly. And hoenstly they are at fault to begin with – not sure where it was stated but ANet said they pretty much made a mistake with regards to this. Players just seised the opportinity so in this regard, the penatly was slightly too harsh in my opinion.

My opinion on MF: “MF gear is like a fly drawn to a BBQ area – the fly likes it but humans don’t.”

The concept may have been sound, but in reality due to the TP, DR, and RNG being constantly manipulated (i.e. “adjusted”) by ANet, it makes it worthless for the majority of titme – that is untill the humans leave the BBQ area.

Crappy reward system and introducing new tier items into one spot is what has made the GW2 world hollow. Two bad decisions that will haunt ANet for ever IMO.

ANet puts too much focus on TP and player focus too much on having the best gier. What is funny is that both parties deny its NOT TRUE.

So the sad reality is it’s the players who have succumb to ANet’s vision that have ruined the GW2 world to a greater extend.

Strange seeing i though Anet said they made a mistake forcing people into fractals then turn around and add to the problem of the empty world with the monthly

Their mistake was introducing the ascended tier items into one dungeon – FotM. It is a poor decision. Considering the issue FotM has at the moment – nothing should be tied to running it, especially monthly achievement.

Serious question about what MF does for you

Death Reincarnated.3570

My Theory (2c)

i) Based on a brobability roullete you can obtain the following rarity items: white, blue, green, yellow, orange. This means that you technically have a 1 in 5 chance to get any rarity item. Although this ratio is adjusted with the higher the rarity the less % out of 100% of getting it.

ii) However this is further split because each mob has it’s own set of possible items it can give: bag of items, scraps, different crafting items, armor, weapons, and nothing.

iii) Hypothetically speaking based on chance out of 100% you could get the following distribution of items:

- 10% nothing
– 10% scraps
– 20% crafting items
– 20% bag of items
– 30% armor/weapons/items
– 10% others

iv) When hitting on the ‘20% armor/weapons/items’ this is split up based on the rarity. Lets assume that this 20% is now 100% roullete.

- 45% white
– 35% blue
– 15% green
– 4% yellow
– 1% orange

Therefore in effect to get a yellow/orange item you have the following brobability: 5%/100% X 20%/100% = 1/100 = 1% chance

v) When ever getting the ‘20% armor/weapons/items’ this is also split up into the following categories which can have their own percentage probability:

- Trinkets/items
– Weapons
– Armor
– Other

So effectively, as per point iv), getting a weapon is also split up and therefore have a much lower % than say an item. Then we also have the fact that there are differnt items of the same rarity which can be influenced on several factors as described below.

vi) Naturally the distribution percentages can differ and other variables can play a part in this. The above distribution values can be affected by the following:

- player congestion per zone
– zone level currently in
– TP wanted/selling item ratio
– other

Conclusion

IMO, the best way to increase your chance of getting better items is to kill mobs in zones of low traffic and ones that can only drop few different items.

Lack of communication during holidays

Death Reincarnated.3570

Work is work, regardless of where you work at. Christmas/New Years is a period where everyone should enjoy some time off and relax. Who ever suggested that ANet representative/devs should communicate more often with us at this moment is, in my opinion, completely wrong.

@ CC Charles (Community Coordinator)

I am glad that you have taken the time to respond to us and it is good that our concerns/issues/discussion are passed on to the appropriate parties/people.

As per below quote:

- Put patch notes on the launcher so I don’t need to hunt them down. If a change is made that has a large impact on a proffession, try to include a few notes so we know why you guys felt X needed to be buffed/nerfed.

…we never give precisely which changes/modifications will come until we are 100% sure of them.

A patch launch/update is as official as a game lunch. This is the perfect time for the devs to provide feedback to us. It will provide us with what was taken into account and implemented. Furthermore, if these changes do not work as we, the players, feel they should we can write back and continue the discussion. Lack of such simple information can suggest to us that the input (i.e. changes via pathces) made by devs used minimal effort. It is, perhaps, a mentality thing, but, taking the time to add information to the patch notes creates another communication bond between both parties – and that is a good thing!

:)

Why have people banning cheaters when you can have an automated system do the job for you. It follows the same principle like many other real life things do: eg. Go shopping and instead of going via the check-out-chick, you have a PC say ‘Thank You, Come Again.’

Risk and Reward NEEDS to be appropriately scaled towards the level content – not be the same throughout the entire game. RNG/DR just makes it unenjoyable to play high level content.

Just yesterday I had nothing but whites and rugs for an hour then suddenly 2 rares, IN A ROW, followed by 3 greens…IN A ROW!!! Seriously, however the no/crap loot mechanics are applied is really getting annoying.

The guild I’m part of is a casual one and it has solid numbers Perhaps the guilds who have lost players lost interest in the particular aspect of the game or just dislike it. Too bad becuase there is other things to do other than running FotM.

Just Reached Level 80 -- Now What?

Easiest is to complete your story, do all dungeons in story mode, level your craft and work towards crafting a good rare equipment that’ll get you through exploration modes.

That is if you can get a group to do the Arah story dungeon (last part of story mode)… Last few days I’ve spent an hour or so trying to get a group together; either no-one comes or they want to do EXP mode…sighhhhhh.

There is lots of things to do post lv80. The problem is it can become tedious and boring. My advise is to mix the tasks up – crafting, mob killing, dungeons etc. Travel across zones and harvest/kill all on your way. You will get the $$$ and b e able to sell on TP and craft items from lower tiers that you have missed (or give the items to your alts).

Remove 'no loot' probability from mobs?

And this is the problem. Because there is the probability of getting nothing, players will tend to not bother withthe more difficult mobs/events.

The risk-reward system is askew towards higher risks. I have gotten nothing countless times when killing vets/champs. Why should I bother if I will not get rewarded appropriately?

For those who say that they don’t agree because will run out of inventory space – you can do several things with loot which you normaly do anyways, regardless of how much you get it.

The biggest mistake, in my opinion, is the fact that there is a chance of not getting ANYTHING from a task, especially one that is high up on the RISK (effort) scale.

As an example: I had a run through Orr yesterday and got nothing from 14 mobs straight! How is this meant to be “normal”?

Hi Everyone,

In my opinion every kill should give loot. I do not understand the concept behind the probability of not getting anything; unless it is to keep the “precious” economy in tact.

What do you think? ANet, please change this.
