Cutting to chase, posted on lfg.com for COF speed runs path 1. Got a group and first thing they did was ask me to post my gear??? I didn’t think it would matter since I’ve got full exotics so i posted. They kicked me right there after one of them posted Boom on the party chat? No explanation just like that. I had to whisper them and ask them what there superspeacial armor was? And they said were zerkers and your not one.. that was it. Enough said some of us don’t use zerker armor in wvw. Cof is a viable quick solution to the money issue that gw2. Zerker elitist if your on lfg.com try getting people who in their description post DPS WARRIOR. And another thing its called a mesmer, be nice to them and get one to play COF with you. If you have a good mesmer no excuse for not running cof path 1 under 10 mins (unless you’ve never done it before) ….

You joined a team with “COF farm war zerk only gear check” or mostly something similar without reading carefully.

They aren’t elitist, you were just too lazy to read.

This is mostly my pve setup. I stay out of 1v1 combat in wvw anyway and usually travel with the zerg.

If it’s for PvE, full Berserk works fine, and you can mix in some Knight or Soldier gear if you’re not confident about dodging or if your build lacks heals to keep up you through your encounters.

These mixed gear will also works great for WvW, even if you’re always with the zerg, being full Berserk means you’ll be spending more time outside the battle zone than in, since you’ll be getting hit by some nasty AoE…
(think 3~4k Meteor Showers crits, 700ish damage Arrow Cart Rains, etc)

With some defense you should be able to save yourself from any “surprise” hits like these…

For example, I got a full Berserk set for my Elementalist just for WvW and I regretted it. I thought it’d be a good idea having 50%+ critical chance at 100% critical damage, but 13k health and 2000ish armor feels like I’m being attacked by 20 everytime one Ranger or Elementalist auto-attacks me…

I see. I was just wondering what the potential tradeoffs might be and if the increased dmg is worth it or not. I mostly sit in the back with shield/sceptor in wvw anyway in zerg vs zerg situation.

I think crit chance has a good synergy with empowering might which then works with AH to heal myself more, which is why I wanted to start thinking about going berserk.

Not having any traits for the first 2 lines may hurt my dps a bit I think.

Also I am thinking of using soldier runes in my berserker gear, mostly for the shout remove condition ability.

Not sure how advisible that is.

Oh, and I forgot to add…since we were on teamspeak, we had a ton of coordination abilities. Good luck to PUGs who have to type everything when these new nerfs require this much coordination…especially the Ghost Eater..

Don’t worry, this is only the first day of the patch.

You will have to give it a day or two before the real flood of whining and cries of “elitists” come in when people start requiring lvl 80s only in AC dungeons.

I could go to the Cursed Shore and do 2-3 events and get just as much of a reward as I can in one of these dungeon runs.

If you’re talking about DpS, Berserk wins by far obviously.

If it’s about 1v1, Berserk is one if not the worst setup possible. You can kill other Berserk or undergeared/underleveled players, but equal players (with average skill) with any decent defense will outlast you easily.

I think it’s a good idea to have a gear for challenging content that you might get hit often and you need some health/defense, and a full berserk when you’re used to it and want to rush through it.

My guardian’s been around a long time and through many different builds and does fairly well in teams so far but I always feel it is lacking in some areas.

I have full berserk on 3 of my characters and they’ve all been doing pretty well and have been thinking of switching to berserkers on guard too.

My traits are, 0/0/30/30/10 (ah, emp might, superior aria, 2h mastery, purity, retri armor, ret subcon)

So my question is this, does full berserker trump pvt mixed with knights in this build?

I will still have about 15-16kish hp with full berserker gear, and I am thinking of still using soldier’s runes to maintain my ability to remove conditions with my shouts. (Instead of dps runes or gems)

I thought about going meditation build but I like to support my team more with AH/Shout build.

Could this work? Is there anyone out there that has a working berserker AH build?

I personally use a mix of Valkyrie, Knight’s, Berserker’s, and Cavalier gear. I focus mainly on Knight’s, and Beserker’s. My hp is kinda low but with 3k armor, over 2900 attack, 46% crit chance, and over 70% crit damage before i use buff’s i find i rarely need more than what i have when combined with the rest of my gear. I can deal with my hp being just under 14k while not using my offhand set in which cast i gain quite a bit of toughness and vit. I could gain more hp but my armor would drop below 3k if i changed out my rune’s. With buff’s i can hit over 50% crit 80% crit damage and almost 3200 attack. Are there better setup’s out there? Ya but i’ve found, for myself atleast, I last so much longer with atleast some balanced stats. Only thing i wish was my hp was higher but i rarely find myself needing any more than what i have.

Yes, it’s my fault, somehow. It’s that it?
If it were they would’ve complained before wouldn’t they? At least said something at some point. They just randomly kicked some light armor player.

Yes, that would be the logical conclusion based on what you said.

If you were doing well and the team was still failing it stands to reason someone else was the weakest link, yet they specifically removed you “somehow”.

Obviously your improbable scenario is still possible to some degree but any reasonable person from the outside looking at your story would doubt your version of events.

Abusive party kick

Hi all,

I was doing fractal 32 just minutes ago and at the last fractal we got the Volcanic one and we weren’t able to finish the end boss (the shaman). At this point out of the blue the party lead and one more kicked me (I’m a D/D ele and we were pretty mixed: Me, R, G, W).

The party kept going without me and got someone else instead as I couldn’t rejoin. The party lead mentioned “he’s sorry – he didn’t kick me and they already failed and getting out” – but he was obviously lying as I saw his status was still inside the fractals.

I think they failed in the end with the replacement as well – given the time I saw them listed inside the fractals after I was kicked… but this is some horrible behavior and made me feel really crappy.

Can I in any way report abusive kicks? I did my fare share all the way to that last boss of the last fractal and was helping with D/F projectile protection at the boss as well. I feel really let down atm and not sure I should ever party with people I don’t know… but then I won’t have anyone to do fractals with(

A real abuse kick would be kicking towards the end while the team is succeeding so their friends can get reward.

First PUG dungeon, party kick at boss

I’ve been playing the game mostly solo and doing dungeons with a group of 3 other friends. Today I needed to get my last dungeon run done for monthly so I decided to try to PUG it.
We did really well, learned some new tricks like speed running, no wipes. We got to the last boss and when he was down to about 10% hp the party was kicked back to the entrance all of a sudden and the leader invited his friends.

I don’t understand how this is allowed to function this way. Kills grouping outside of friends/guild (has for me).

After talking to one of the other guys, he said this is common and only thing you can do is add the player to your blocked list.

That story is fishy.

It seems to me either the party leader rage quit for some reason you aren’t telling us or you are not being honest about what really did happen.

You do need some sort of reflect for that encounter to not suck. It’s understandable if they only have 1 slot left and no guards or mesmers.

It’s usually about an hour, maybe two hours, give or take.

Since the last major patch I noticed you can run the paths again with another char immediately and still get 60.

Your builds are mostly bunker/support. You lack any credible dps and that team will suffer in alot of events that require dps.

Even in terms of support the builds are inadequate. They are far from “ideal”.

Anyone with less then basic lvl 80 exotics deserve to be kicked.

That’s a bit over the top.

If it’s your first character then unless you max relevant crafting and have enough coin saved to craft your exotics there’s no other feasible way to get lvl 80 exotics aside from doing the dungeon, which you would exclude them from.

When I ran my first dungeon I had full exotics on too since I maxed crafting prior but it’s too much to expect everyone to do that.

Not everyone wants to do crafting in this game, and for those people they need the dungeon runs to get their exotics.

Why is it that the dungeon host holds the power to kick everyone? Why is their time more valuable than everyone elses?

All 4 of us wanted to give the boss another go but the host, “nah”. Just logs off. Kicks us. Voids 2 hours of work. This is completely stupid.

Because the dungeon host has to have the flag to go into the exp dungeon. So once the flag person leaves then the team is kicked. This is not a great system but that’s why it’s happening.

So today I was playing on my level 25+ elementalist in Brisban Wildlands when I got into a chat conversation with a guy who said he was planning on using level 35 rares until level 60 and then get another set of rares. Now you can make rares last many levels but in my experience around about level 50 mark is when your level 35 rares start becoming inferior to even blues, let alone greens.

So I commented that I hope he wasn’t planning on doing dungeons. But he then commented that he had a thief who was using level 35 rares in CoF and insisted he wasn’t dragging down his group because he was dying less then the others and that he knew how to make it work with his builds and stuff… Now I firmly believe skill + build > gear but isn’t this a bit much? I mean, surely a level appropriate blues and green would be better then level 35 rares in CoF!

Am I missing something? What do you guys think?

This is because people usually lvl so quickly that they very quickly out lvl their current gear and it wouldn’t be efficient to always craft/buy gear for your current lvl.

This is another reason why most people don’t like having lower lvls in their pug team because regardless of their “skill” level their raw numbers usually can’t compete even assuming other things being equal.

If I wanted to do a quick run, I wouldn’t accept lowlvl chars either. they slow the team down. 80s can do that as well, but it’s harder to see. a full pvt or worse mf player can’t be identified easily but is a hindrance in an easy dungeon such as AC.

I agree in general with your points, except I don’t agree that full pvt gear player is a bad build. It depends on the class and the build in question rather than the stat combo itself. (In fact that stat combo is very useful for certain guardian builds)

I am not here to argue about the effectivity or ineffectivity of 80 only groups. I do speed runs daily and nightly of high level dungeons in only level 80 groups. However I’ve also brought friends on low levels, players looking to do their first run, and have been brought through dungeons pre-80 myself (sometimes 7 levels under). I am simply trying to give players who want to run a dungeon pre-80 the chance to do so without the hassle of being kicked from group after group after group because the players advertising couldn’t be bothered to explicitly state they were looking for 80s only. If you want to debate or argue the issue, go do so in a thread that does exactly that. This is not the place for it.

I am perfectly on topic. The topic of this post is “Not Yet 80 and want to do a dungeon?” and I was talking about the roadblocks that may exist if you want to as a sub 80.

I was talking more explicitly about strangers in pugs as I made clear, not friends or guild mates.

I was also talking about the reality of the situation, not what people should do in a perfect world.

The reality is people in general don’t want to be in pug teams with non 80s for exactly the reasons I explained.

Regardless of how you or I personally feel about it, the general consensus is not going to change as long as there are no systemic changes.

I suppose it would be better to say with more attention being brought to 80 only groups lately.

People tend to do runs faster and with more success in an all lvl 80 group when it comes to pugs. This is a consensus formed from experience from the majority of the community. That’s why you see far more 80s only teams running dungeons.

If the fact was that low lvl teams did runs better than high lvl then the opposite would be true.

There are some experienced low levels, but since people are strangers and there’s no real way to tell someone’s ability when you first team up the rational thing for people to do is to lower the chances of failure by setting some standards beforehand.

I’ve seen more braindead 80s that have caused more chain wipes than I’ve seen 38s.

Just because someone is max level doesn’t mean they are not an utter failure. And vice versa.

Your second statement seem to be not consistent with the first.

If level has no bearing on how well a person does then why do you personally see lvl 80s cause more wipes than lvl 38s? Wouldn’t your example imply that lower level is better?

players that skip dungeon parts are not ‘skill-less’, for me atleast, its because they’ve already done the content before and the reward for re-running it isnt worth the effort
(to be clear; im fine with either skipping or clearing; i prefer skipping due to it being a higher effort:reward ratio, but if someone wants to complete the content; i dont complain)

Oh pls don’t come here to tell big part of the community that what they do is wrong bcs they aren’t doing like you want. Im in no obligation to to make your gaming experience more enjoyable at the cost of my own. I run mainly high lvl groups bcs that’s how i like it and i suggest you find a way to enjoy the content too w/o bugging others.

Because I have a ranger that runs dungeons and I’ve teamed with rangers and never had any issues with them that were due to class.

Thanks- yeah- I was upfront both in chat and in group that it was my first time. Was able to get the story for CM done. We had some wipes but it was fun overall! And I did get the group finally by using GW2LFG.com- I cant stress how easy it was with this. Thanks for sharing.

That’s what my warrior is. Our guild does dungeons everyday, might as well bring the most efficient available. I still enjoy my Mesmer, Ranger, and Engineer, their places are just elsewhere in the facets of the game.

You get kicked/denied for being a Mesmer? What universe is this in?

And I’ve seen plenty of Guardians in CoF with the run still being faster than 4war 1mes.

My fastest group was 2war 1guard 2mes. We took out Slave Driver before first Time Warp ended. We took out the Effigy before the 2nd Time Warp ended.

Obviously a universe full of evil moustached dopplegangers. Where necros are in full zerk gear and thieves are only viable in bunker builds.

Guardian is almost a necessity everywhere else :|

I made this thread cause I just started doing dungeans lately and there is some big problems that I would like to address with them.

First problem that really annoys me with the dungean is the fact when someone leaves the party at the end of it or whatever it is that they do you get kicked out of the dungean instantly. I seen people rush to the chest get it leave before i get to it and I am kicked out without any loot. Simple fix to this is you get 60 seconds to run around after that person leaves or whatever it is that they did before you get kicked out.

Another problem I have with dungeans atm. Is how you just run past mobs. Why are they even there if there is no point in killing them imo. Plus half of them are so annoying to kill that its almost makes more sense to run past them. Like some mobs in AC how they just complete stun lock you out and 2 shot your guy for the most part.

Another problem there is no dungean finder this is a huge one imo. Its extremely annoying and challenging I feel like most the time to find people.

How each dungean has completely different loot badges for it. I don’t seem to quite understand that one. I could see making some of them different but not every single one all this does is force you into farming dungeans that again most people don’t do so odds are you won’t be able to farm it anyway unless you have a group of friends that are wanting to farm it for a long time.

Guess if I can think of anything else I’ll post it thanks for reading I guess.

New to the Guild wars games (been playing GW 2 since release), however, I have never done a dungeon. I am a very casual player and only get a few hours a day due to work and family commitments.

Now that I have gotten a Ranger to 80 and my Guardian to 75- I have been interested in doing a dungeon run (if nothing else to complete my last step for the Feb. Monthly).

Here is where I falter- as most players are terrified to run a noob through a dungeon…I am having a bit of a time trying to go on my first run! :-)

I play on Whiteside Ridge (European Server) and am looking for some assistance to school me on the finer points and to help through some of the dungeons.

If anyone is interested let me know- send me a PM. I have my own guild (just me and my daughter) but would be willing to join a guild for the dungeon runs so they get credit.

Appreciate any advise or pages I could go and read about the dungeons as well so I can become somewhat familiar with them.

There’re no problem with people guiding new players through dungeons. Just mention that it’s your first time in the beginning or ask questions along the way and people should help you.

The problem most people have is if you don’t say anything and you end up not doing what you are supposed to and that causes the team to have problems or wipes.

There are also online guides and youtube videos you can reference before hand if you want to go in with some knowledge, but for the most part people will help if you ask for it in the dungeon team.

So I finished a dungeon, and I stayed in the last cut-scene a bit, and my husband left right away cause he saw it already.

He was dungeon leader… So when he left, we all got kicked and no one but him got the tokens or time to get the treasure. I don’ blame my husband at all, he felt bad too, even though he shouldn’t.

It is the dumbest system I have ever seen. I’ve also experienced trolling with it in past dungeons where the leader was having a bad time and he was like HAHAHAHA and just left and kicked us all out after being in there an hour.

This HAS to be changed. It doesn’t even seem on purpose. Really clunky and stupid.

People don’t like to hang around long after the boss of each exp run. He might’ve thought you already skipped the movie, got the reward and so he left the team.

So, on a lark today I joined a group running TA explorable. This is my first dungeon in a while, since I typically run with my guild and for the past month+ I’ve been busy with irl things and they’ve been busy with other games.

This is also my first dungeon since I got a new router, and (spoiler alert) not the first time something bad has happened to me running explorable mode on a dungeon. Last time I did, it was AC, and the dungeon refused to end after my group beat the final boss on our path, resulting in us having to unceremoniously leave without a reward or a conclusion after about an hour of waiting around for an event to trigger.

So today, I notice that I get hit by several seconds of lag occasionally in combat, my character running around, failing to execute attacks as friend and foe stand eerily still before a sunburst of numbers and effects explode onto screen to make up for what I assume was a momentary hiccup in my internet connection. But I don’t disconnect, right? No big deal.

Then during a fight with a mob right before the last battle of the dungeon, my internet cuts out and I get dumped back in character select. I go “no big deal”, log back in, jump back in the dungeon, and tell my group that my internet crapped out, can they wait until I catch back up with them. When I try to teleport closer, game says I can’t- they’re in combat, which means I can’t teleport at all. So I hoof it back to where they are, because I think “gee, maybe I can at least help them with whatever enemy is making it impossible for me to get closer”.

Which is fine and dandy until I run into a mob that they didn’t kill on the way to the end of the dungeon and the lag hits again, followed by another disconnect. When I log back in and get back in the dungeon, my character is dead, and they’re still in combat (at the other end of the dungeon!!), so I cannot respawn unless I log out, log back in, decline the prompt to enter the dungeon, and respawn at a waypoint in Caledon Forest before getting back in the dungeon and running to them from the start.

By this point, my party is fighting the dungeon’s boss without me, and not answering any of my messages.

I die again on the way to them (really, guys, thank you for skipping the mobs, that was really thoughtful), have to log out to respawn because they can’t send anybody back to rescue me (or won’t), and by the time I get back into the dungeon, they’ve beaten the boss and completed it without me. I get no event, and no reward while everyone else is patting each other on their backs for a job well done. All I’m left with is a sense of frustration and disappointment, wondering why I even tried to catch up with my party after the first disconnect.

I’m not really looking for advice, since I know half of it will just be “lol get a new router”. I just wanted to vent and share a story of how the new dungeon teleportation rules screwed me over unexpectedly (and how the group I ran with didn’t help, either.)

What’s the deal with warriors on any sort of farming run bailing when there is a ranger in the group? Literally the only class I see instabail and they always ask, “Ranger?” and upon answering yes, they leave. As if it’s 100% impossible to clear an instance quickly without 5 zerker warriors. Now this is absolutely the only complaint I have towards this community. Coming from other mmos this community is kitten near perfect, everyone is nice, everyone helps people out and no one is a jerk for no reason… except in dungeons.

There’s no issue. Rangers have no problem in teams.

Seriously? It’s a level 35 dungeon, not a level 80 dungeon. You might want to do some research into how scaling works. Once you’re done with that, dig up some classes on how not to be ignorant and rude.
That last sentence goes for all of you trying to justify why you are, or would be, a prick.

The fact you would think that you can just shows you have no idea what you are talking about.

It doesn’t matter what the lvl req of the low lvl dungeon is. The fact is those dungeons are scaled for way higher. No one said it was impossible to beat that AC dungeon with 35s, it’s just going to be a pain and waste much more time, which I am not going to bother with.

I owe you as a stranger in a pug absolutely nothing except my own contribution to the team, and I expect nothing less in return. If you can’t contribute to my expectations (which are pretty low for pugs) then I won’t hesitate to leave, kick you or second the kick.

You can cry “elitist” all day long from the mountaintop but at the end of the day you’ll still be kicked and I’ll still roll through these dungeons with a good team and get the reward.

It does not misrepresent anything. It does not apply to that situation, but it is still applicable in general.

Now you are denying it even though it’s clear for everyone to see up a few posts.

I’ll give you one more chance and reason with you before dismissing you as a dishonest kitten.

You used an argument against kicking someone who is sub lvl 80 even though the lfg post does not state 80s only against the poster above, when he CLEARLY stated that he did in fact label his post clearly.

That’s called a strawman argument, because your own argument is so weak that you have to concot a fantasy argument that you would win against rather than the actual argument you’re faced with.

For the record, NO ONE here so far has argued in favor of kicking someone for being sub 80 when the team is NOT clearly labeled 80’s only.

It would be like me saying well you are wrong because the earth is round. (when you never said anything about the earth)

Using distortions like the strawman argument is the height of dishonesty in any debate, so you are either ill informed or you are dishonest when you do something like that.

Joining a group that does not specify ‘speed run’ or ‘level 80 only’ is not lying. If the party does not specify such a requirement, there should be no problem.

there was an lfg post today of someone taking ‘anybody’ (newbs, underleveled etc). I joined with an alt and we pretty sucessfully pulled three newbs through AC, explaining as necessary. I also did a story run with 4 completely new players and afterwards we went to do explo. for 4 firstimers I was really impressed we only wiped once at kohler (yes, I forced them to do him, as practice ;-) ). I did a bit more explaining before each encounter, so they knew the most important tells etc and we never had any problems (except the one wipe). I hope they’ll return the favour one time and take a few newbs with them as well.

both runs took nearly an hour though. they were enjoyable etc, but the time needed is extremely high, in comparison with an experienced group of 80s. after doing two runs with new players, I wanted to do a few quick runs with experienced people. made a specific lfg post and got a underleveled 5 sigil warrior with only bow and another warrior which mostly stayed on bow. still did the run, it was catastrophic. took about as long as with the players admitting to being new, only of the ‘pros’ one warrior always complained. ie against killing kohler, even though I mentioned no kohler-skipping in the lfg as well.

and that’s the problem with many of those people complaining about so called elitists. instead of asking for help (and there are always people willing to help, if you take the time to ask) they join a group by lying (explicit or implicit) and then they whine when they get kicked by people having had enough off this incredibly egoistical behavior…

I’m not sure if penalizing 80s even more would work, players will just complain and find other excuses not to take sub-80s.

Some will but most people won’t.

You don’t seem to get that most of the current “excuses” are valid which they would not be if what I propose actually happened.

I’m just pointing out an easy and feasible way for devs to resolve a large portion of this issue since they’ve already adjusted the scaling system so it’s something they have experience with and can implement quickly and with relatively low risk.

Your idea is too arcane and might have alot of unintended consequences. (Such as exploits)

Again, this thread is not talking of the speed-runners. This is talking of people simply looking for a group. Dungeons are designed to be run at level. Unless you specify ‘80-only’ or ‘speed run’, there is no reason to exclude others.

People will still do it. What are you going to do about it? Tell them they “should” not do it and hope they won’t?

That’s the furthest thing from an actual solution.

Sure made sense, thanks for those tips. I’ll probably try searching for a semi hardcore guild before going into dungeons, because I HATE pugs even if I am the noob atm I had enough pug nightmares in WoW. And I don’t have time for that s***

I have both armor and weaponsmith at 400 (well weapon at like 396) and the draconic is a mix of zerker,knight and valkyrie with gems that for the most part give power precision and crit dmg and the krait axes are zerker aswell

My traits are 30,10,15,5,10 i believe (cant look em up as im writing this)

Not sure you need 30 points in the strength line.

I think you just need enough for berserker’s power trait.

You could put the rest of the points saved into tactics and arms so you can get the banner/shout and forceful greatsword traits. The boon duration increase and the hp helps alot, especially if you have forceful greatsword trait since you can get 25 stacks of might. (If you also have increase boon duration runes)
