RE: complaints that Tybalt’s character being a bad fit for a spy outfit: The only mission for The Order of Whispers that I recall even using any sneaky spy moves was the escape with Demmi, (which the player handles by using stealth to knock out the guards), so IMO there aren’t enough instances by which to judge Tybalt as a bumbler for all time. He’s taken out so quickittenhat the general sense of attachment to him seems to me a testimony to his character’s development.

People have been talking about Trahearne in this thread since 9/27:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/story/I-too-dislike-Trahearne-Spoilers/first#post396378
I don’t like him enough to talk about him in yet another thread.
You can also try for a different pet by putting in four mini pets.
Assuming there’s no bug at play, you retrieve the “cage” from your mail. Once the cage is in your bag, double click it to open it. You should then see three pet icons in your bag. Double click one to make it appear at your feet. Make sure you’re not standing near something that could obscure your view of the pet.
If you click the “gear” at the top of your inventory bag the pets will automatically go into their part of your personal bank’s collections storage (scroll all the way down… they’re in the bottom segment) unless you’ve got them in a “safe” or “invisible” bag that prevents auto storage of the contents.
Duplicate pets stack. You can put duplicates into the Mystic Forge to try for a new, different pet.

Facebook is a mess. I try to avoid it at all costs. If news is posted there, I will probably never see it.
And then bots… oh those dirty bad names. Maybe bots would be less effective if they couldn’t farm naked? If they had to react to ground effects? If they couldn’t take on groups of NPCs/mobs? If they were detected and removed?
I wonder if introducing weapon damage on death would help here. Admittedly, it may increase our repair costs – but if a bot can’t swing his sword because it’s broke, he’s not killing anything. Just a thought..
Or maybe a character that is naked but continues to try to fight ultimately gets eaten by a pack of rogue wolves. Quel drama!
Can’t you all understand that anet is happy with bots ? botters buy game accounts in thousands . Anet do not care for one time buyers like legit players !
If this were true, then banning accounts very, very quickly would make more sense, wouldn’t it? Just sayin’.
I have received many of the “fine” stones as rewards for finishing all of the content in a zone. You can purchase both types of stones with gems in the gem store.

Apparently, Jemmi, you are the only one.
I thought, on meeting Tybalt, that his character was so richly rendered that he was destined to be around for a long time. Go figure that he’s dumped and replaced by Trehearne, who has the charm of a potato.
How exciting! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us!
Thanks, Colin, for giving us a peek at what you have planned!
OP,
Did you see the sticky at the top of the “Players Helping Players” forums section (where this thread resides)?
If you haven’t, you may benefit from reading through it:
P.S. For the record, I’m having fun on my 80 doing many of the things outlined in that stickied thread.
Because it’s fun.
Also, I levelled via pve to 80 before pvp’ing, so I can’t vouch for this firsthand, but it is my understanding that access to traits is dependent on level & the more traits you have, the more powerful you are.
Those who know for sure, please verify or correct me if I’m wrong.

I agree that turrets stay up far longer than necessary. I have travelled through areas with turrets piled on top of each other every 10 yards or so. Whoever had placed them was nowhere to be seen, but the part of the zone I was running through was littered with them. Seems to me they really should poof when their owner moves far out of range.
Hi, Jenna! I think we’d all be surprised to find how many of GW2’s players have similar situations. Thanks for spelling it out so nicely, and thanks to ArenaNet for providing us with such a good entertainment “fit”.
Without a doubt, yes.
I agree with Craven, 100%. Getting the 100% exploration achievement is meaningless if you haven’t met the requirements. There are many, many other achievements you can do. People need to understand the difference between “want” and "need’. This is not a “need”.
Furthermore, the achievement, as is, is all kinds of do-able by anyone that wants it. Dying a few times isn’t the end of the world.
I loved Tybalt.
SPOILER ALERT!
I thought, when I first met him, and he said that he’d been finally allowed to work “in the field”, that he was going to turn out to be the Master. When he went marching off to his doom, I was pretty verklempt.

I’d love to be able to throw four chests into the forge to upgrade it. I’d even buy keys to open something like that.
While I agree that the forums are overly negative, being positive for no good reason isn’t any better.
You thanked Anet when you bought their product. Allowing them to keep their jobs is thanks enough for many of them, I imagine.
Tsk tsk.
Saying “thank you” is always good form, and appreciating something someone has done, whether they were compensated financially or not, is reason enough to do it.
This map has been HUGELY helpful to me when I’m missing a POI or any other component to 100% completion in a zone. It also shows some other interesting stuff, like location of chests and hunter pets:
Your posting proves once again that you might never guess that the two characters “over there” are a couple celebrating an anniversary. Everyone we run into has a story. Congratulations to you and your husband!
So what you all are saying is what separates GW2 from other MMO’s is a lack of raiding?
If gear progression isn’t what GW2 is about, then why the hate for raids?
Raiders wouldn’t get more powerful stats than you, but I’m sure you’d still be up in arms if they got cool looking gear that was difficult for a coordinated group to acquire.
/sigh
I would prefer that the game follow the design philosophy that has been in place all along without trying to retrofit/shoehorn raiding into it. I just think it’s hugely disrespectful and presumptuous for people to try to do a wow makeover on this game.
Besides, it wouldn’t stop with the number of people or rewards… the next set of demands would be LFR and dps meters and mods like DBM, and oh noooo… we can’t do 10 man without the trinity, etc., etc., ad nauseum.
No, I don’t and won’t miss it. I’m seriously done with raiding as it existed in WOW.
There’s still so much to see and do… zones I haven’t touched yet, crafting to level, and I want to experience play at higher level on my alts of different professions. I will be busy for some time yet to come.
At the risk of sounding goofy, I am actually disappointed if someone “releases” before I can get to them to rez them. OP, given the situation you describe, I would have been surprised/disappointed, too, at the response you got when you needed that rez. I’m hoping this was a fluke and that your future experiences will be better.
OP,
Since you have so many, what would be really nice is if you could edit the wiki to include the names of every dye you have. Anyone having the missing dyes would be able to tell at a glance and could add the names, too. It would be a great reference for a lot of people.
I think the underwater worlds are beautiful and interesting and while I will particpate in underwater DEs, I would enjoy them more if the things I need to perform underwater were more easily accessible. Unlike my other gear, my speargun and breather tended to lag far behind in level (more the breather than the speargun) and I never saw an option to fill my second weapon slot until very late in the game.
Hickeroar,
“Dynamic” does define what I see happening when an event triggers. For example, an npc talking to a player, kittensponds with an action, which triggers another action, which results in an event beginning is all a dynamic process… like dominoes are dynamic in their tripping the next in a chain to fall. They are “scripted”, too, because these chains are laid out in a particluar way or way(s).
So, maybe the difference is just a matter of semantics.
There’s a lot of this “You’re stuck in WoW thinking! Think new!” I think it’s a futile argument. The thing is as the OP says that traditional quests are gone, we all agree on that, yes?
Now, being a new revolutionizing game in itself is not a good excuse to remove something quite essential to this genre (and don’t tell me it’s not an MMORPG :p), unless you replace it with something new and revolutionizing and preferably better. The problem here is that what they put in place instead of quests is (in the opinion of some, at least) not better, it’s actually just even more boring than traditional questing. It’s nothing to do with thinking outside the box and what not, it’s a matter of whether something is interesting and fun to play or not. Quite simple ^^
That’s actually not what people are saying, they’re saying the story and lore is there, you have to look for it.
That may be, but my point was just.. Is it more fun this way? That’s basically what the matter is about I think.
People aren’t stupid after all, we can all see things are done differently here, there’s no need to keep telling them to think new.
I think maybe you’ve mistaken some of these enthusastic replies for finger-pointing somehow. I know that wasn’t my intent, and I’m sure it wasn’t anyone else’s. The enthusiasm is a byproduct of fun, so yeah, it really is fun (and mostly because it is so intuitive and different), but like anything maybe somewhat a matter of personal preference.
Well said, cesmode! I spent time on the raiding treadmill and when I was done, I was really, really done. But I’m not done, as you said, caring about my character’s gear, learning her class, etc. I hit 80 this week, and like you I have yet to touch several zones. My alts (two in their 20’s and two in their low teens) allow me variety when I want it in terms of profession and invariably, when I’m playing them, I get to see/do an event that I didn’t see the first time through.
As the OP said, there’s a good six months worth of stuff in-game right now, and ANet promises more to come.
Ah, Pluckerpluck. I’m sad that you’re sad. I must say, too, that curiosity leads me where no signpost is posted! Even in WoW I couldn’t help climbing on a boat or Zep just to see where I’d end up. Go on… get out there and wander around a bit. You might find it completely liberating!
Break out of that box, OP! Cohesion, schmohesion! When an NPC runs up to you, begging for help, that’s where you go! When you wander within reach of heart-text, let it inform you that there are things to watch for locally. The map’s list of objectives will let you know how much of that zone’s content you have left to discover. There’s all the direction you need to spur you on, let your feet and imagination do the rest.
So nice to see some upbeat threads this morning! I concur, OP. In my case $70 + a couple/three standard-of-living (dyes and bank space!) gem purchases and I’m good to go for the forseeable future.
Keep having fun!
Apparently some form of sticky targetting is forthcoming. As for Combat Mode and the like, the last thing I want to do is become dependent on mods again.
Enjoyed your account, Wintyre, and my experience has been similar. This game was obviously designed to be appreciated best by not-in-a-hurry players.
These doomsday prophecies certainly have become commonplace shortly after any launch, and especially in this case don’t bother me in the least. I’m delighted to give ANet time and space to see how their plans manifest into being. That includes their notion that a monthly fee isn’t necessary to finance growth… and provide routine, timely maintenance.
Also, seeing a hiring notice doesn’t necessarily mean that there was a last minute wait to fill positions. These days, turnover is something every business experiences as the workforce tends be much more mobile than in the past.

I assume you’re talking about karma items like the ones on the vendor in the Lion’s Arch pirate jumping puzzle. I think these are primarily intended to use as skins, but the option to buy them at 40 can be had at a premium. There is so much other gear on the “normal” karma vendors to be had at that level for a much more reasonable price, this seems to me to be the only reasonable explanation.
Woman following man with bomb: “How long is the fuse?”
Man with bomb: “How fast can you run?”
Divinity’s Reach, hands down. While Hoelbrak is beautiful, I’m a big fan of the splashes of color and old world architecture feathered in Divinity’s Reach. It’s a place that feels immediately like someplace I want to call home.
What a fantastic thing it must be to have that kind of talent, and to have the opportunity to work with many others with equal skill. GW2’s art team has done an amazing job! This article has filled me with anticipation about what’s in store for GW2 with future content.
I love the “why dont you go back to wow” posts (because lets face it, that’s what you’re really saying).
My response is simple: if I’m feeling a void here and ArenaNet doesn’t find a way to fill it, that’s exactly what me and many, many other people might do. I think “dont like it? then leave” is a poor response to concerns like this. And I’m quite certain ArenaNet would like to figure out a better resolution than “just quit the game”.
So let’s keep the conversation productive instead of trying to get me to leave the game
but this is the problem. you miss the gear grind. I hated it in wow. stopped playingmy toon as soon as he hit 80. didnt like the pvp and raids because of the gear grind requirement. GW1 didn’t have it, and that’s why it was my game of choice.
either they add a gear grind to keep the interest of players who can get that fix elswhere but allienate everyone else.
they add a gear grind, you’re happy, i’m sad.
they don’t add a gear grind, I’m happy, your sad.the difference is. you can go back to wow for your gear grind. Those of us who do like the GW moddel don’t have that option.
How would the WoW forums respond if they suddenly became full of ex GWplayers saying “I hate the gear grind. I want max stats at 80 so everyone is equal for pvp”
Bet all the wow players would call me out and tell me to go back to GW.
I think you and i could benefit from some term clarification. It SOUNDS like you hate the “gear grind” because it becomes a requirement to have good gear. I agree that gets annoying. In WoW you can’t leave your character sitting for two months without his gear becoming trash.
So that kind of gear grinding would make you very unhappy.
But would it be so bad if there were ways to get slightly better stats or sigils? Maybe dungeon tokens get someone a cooler rune set for armor that offers something unique? Maybe a way to unlock more skills? You can still do dungeons and questing and WvW just fine with exotic gear, but i’d certainly like something in exchange for logging in and earning gold. Right now I’m finding money a little useless (this is music to your ears if you dont have a lot of time to play, but I’ve been farming and have nothing to spend it on)
I’m glad you clarified. There’s more content planned. Really. Until it comes, you’ll have to find a way to keep busy, here or elsewhere.
I think what you’re seeing is a direct result of the dynamic grouping that happens in this game. Objectives are all shared spontaneously so people aren’t seeing the need to group. Grouping offers you a way to track your party, other than that, there’s really no need when you can accomplish what you need to with anyone that happens to be doing the same basic thing.
I’ve never really been a melee class player and I’m having a lot of fun with my Charr warrior alt. She primarily uses a rifle, but her secondary set of weapons is a pair of axes. It’s the best of both worlds! I’m just trying to point out that you can play these professions so many ways… you can’t really pigeonhole them strictly to their standard definitions.
I bought my Alienware M17X R4 in July. I simply could not be happier with this computer. These laptops are designed for gaming. They can and do take the heat. They’re also every bit as upgradeable as a desktop rig. Haters will come out of the woodwork about this, so your best bet is to do the research. I highly recommend the site, notebookreview.com, a fantastic resource if you’re shopping around for a laptop for gaming or any other purpose.
A large part of the community doesn’t feel the same way, too. I can’t believe you said, “Give me a reason to log in and grind.” Ay yi yi.
It’s been my observation that often people who claim to be hounded or persecuted via in-game chat have usually contributed pretty heavily to their situation.
They’re just not needed. Besides, I can’t imagine Lion’s Arch or Divinity’s Reach cluttered up with scads of mounts.
I can’t get the second team to follow me. Trehearne is following, but not any of the rest of the npcs. I’ve restarted this four times. I’m done until something official in the way of help is posted.
I’m curious about this, too! The holidays are approaching quickly!
