Waiting For Death [WFD]
@ Borlis Pass Server
Enjoyed reading your post, marlborz.
If they’d just add fishing, I’d be pretty content.
I don’t know why expectations for rewards are so huge when it took all of THREE DAYS to complete the content.
This is a great resource when shopping for a laptop:

P.S. I have had my Alienware M17x R4 for a little over a year and love it. I’d buy it all over again. It’s definitely not “crap” and after all the research I did, it was and still is great value for the money. It may not be everyone’s cup o’ tea, but it doesn’t deserve to be dismissed out of hand, either.

I have been hunting all over these forums for deadline information for the new content.
I have to do these things in increments and I need to be able to plan ahead. It’s very frustrating to have to beg for simple, straightforward information like this every time temporary content is added.
Actually, that’s been there for some time. I was levelling an alt maybe a month or six weeks ago and saw the see-saw there and remember thinking that would be a really cute real-life wood-working project. I don’t remember sitting on it, however… or maybe I did and the sitting animation has changed. Anyway… your character CLEARLY loves that see-saw!
I tried sitting in multiple other positions on it and he sat normally, but in that one he went weird, maybe he does love it. Hope he doesn’t love it enough to get splinters. That would be an awkward trip to the potions merchant.
LOL! Awkward, indeed!

In hope of its’ being helpful to someone, those having issues might compare the steps they’ve taken to the steps in Dulfy’s walkthrough:

Good luck to you all.
The alliance is a false sense of equalization.
Those 3 servers are not going to remain in the same place forever.
And if AR and BP have to team up to fight EB, they do not belong in their tier, period.Unless you’re trying to keep those servers forever in a twilight zone.
I agree, we do not belong in the same tier. If you ignore the Ebay trolls and read the posts from the more respectable, mature players on their server even they admit to being able to field as many, or more, players than AR and BP combined at any given time. On top of that they tend to make really big, strong pushes on a few select days very late at night which gives them huge point boosts. This keeps the causal WvW players away because the inequality is really quite boring. We have clearly hit a ceiling with a reject T4 server, and considering we scrapped our way up from T6 we are greatly outmatched here.
All this has made WvW pretty dull, and to top that off Ebay has proven classless in their role as the dominant server. I’m glad to see that players from other servers have also noticed and I hope the reputation of “most loser group of winners” sticks with Ebay. No matter how great their margin of victory, I’ll never have any respect for them.
Sorry but BP is getting a taste of its own medicine in Spades.
1st week the match up was close with everyone being friendly and exclaiming GREAT FIGHTS!
Then BP pulled their nightcap and proceeded to talk all kinds of kitten about how Ebay sux.Bragging about PvDn a victory.
What you are experiencing is repayment for your behavior then….if you don’t like it maybe your “classy” server should change it’s ways….
The first week we went up a tier we took 1st place and you didn’t expect us to brag about it or enjoy our moment of glory? You see, there is a big difference about being excited about doing a little victory dance about winning in the forums and being disrespectful to the losing servers week after week after week.
BP has its share of forum warriors that act disrespectful towards Ebay, but they are a minority and a very, very, small part of the server. I regularly read disrespectful things from Ebay towards BP in the forums. Hey, Ebay is winning and you all have the right to brag about it, but constantly putting down the other servers, saying they are all unskilled, that they are dumpstered, etc. is classless and makes you the most loser of winners that I’ve come up against.
Kinda glossing over how bad BP & Co. acted aren’t ya?
We remember and guess what…..you deserve everything we do to you.
Please. You were the sleeping giant that first week, kitteny and sure that your neglect wouldn’t get you into trouble. The fact that you so grossly underestimated your opposition and as a result lost the game stung so badly, you’ve never forgotten it, and apparently never will.
its not the fact that we lost the first round, its their trash talk after.
we remember the trash talk, its motivation to never let that happen again.
Perspective is a really funny thing. From where I sit EB holds the trash talking trophy. It’s almost funny to hear you claim to be so sensitive. You lost from neglect, of all things, and that’s what made your ears/eyes bleed when someone dared to do what you do routinely: Crow.

Is the flower a backpack skin?
Historically, traps have always been a cause for concern.
Can you post an image, please?
We are not planning on adding a new currency to handle Ascended items in WvW.
So basically you’ll just have to play WvW for 1000 hours to get a chance for a drop. Either that or 2500 Badges.
Typical RNG.
It’s obvious there will be some sort of criteria for earning currency for ascended gear as it’s silly to believe they’d be given away. I’m an extremely casual player and have badges galore piled up, so this news makes me pretty happy. Hours would be ok, too. Drops, not so much, but whatever… I just want some sort of plan laid out so we can start actually getting some gear.
You reported someone for talking to himself?
For those at work or who haven’t seen what it looks like in action:
This video was up on youtube of someone using the sonic tunneling tool in L.A.:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-REn7ttU7g
And it is not supposed to go through or under walls, buildings, etc.
This dungeon is part of the Living Story. It is designed to be part of the story line. Once the story line moves on (in three weeks) the dungeon will be redundant in terms of the story’s time line.
ANet is doing something different from other MMOs with their Living Story. It is presenting the story with timely components. Enjoy them while they are here, then prepare to move on to the next thing.

I’m always amused by complaints like this. People act like the chat box is pinned to their foreheads so the have no choice but to read it. I’ve grown so used to tuning it out, I don’t see whispers half the time. Trolls like the person OP complains about thrive on attention, as has been said umpteen times in this thread. Ultimately, people obsess so much about shutting someone up that THEY become the trolls thru their control issues.
I would think a non subscription game is held to a different standard than one that requires a monthly subscription. The non subscription game should not be expected to keep up with the ravenous appetite of pve players who are used to getting that from subscription games.
I think the level of content GW2 provides and the rate at which they add more is pretty awesome, given they don’t expect me to pay them monthly to keep logging in. I certainly never expected 10 man or larger instances or raids. That’s not how the game was described at inception, so why would that expectation be there?
Huh. On my laptop (i7, 650, 8G ram, HSI) I don’t experience that. I hear that people sometimes do, and I usually write it off to underpowered systems or a poor connection (or at least a poor path to the servers). I don’t find that happening to me. I figured if it was a problem with the game itself, EVERYONE would experience it.
If the OP is on a high population server and there are huge numbers of players (more than on your server), that could have an effect on performance from server-side. I have a nice, fast computer on a medium pop server and don’t experience issues. I can see how population density would be a factor.
Maybe through all this id make a suggestion to ANet, put in a surrender emote or a plea to be left alone emote, something which is clear that a player doesnt wish to engage in battle anymore
It’s nice that you had second thoughts. I don’t know that giving them signals to beg for passage is such a grand gesture, though.
Hang in there. Color rotations are incoming.

Now that’s one hell of a battleship.
Each and every man willing to go down with the ship if need be.
I was watching those red tags stack in the water, waiting to see what y’all were up to, when the scaffolding went up. So did my eyebrows. I then called to my brother to come to the top of the wall to verify what I was seeing. That Rambleship was quite a sight (evoked the Vikings for some reason) and brought some comic relief in the heat of battle!
This is the internet. The endless round of accusations and insults will never stop.

“Soon™”, he says.
Sorry, but I will never buy that oft-stated excuse for poor behavior. It does need to stop. Whether it ever will is something completely different.
Lokos (rocky) and a couple other [GH] witnessed people using warping exploits this week. Just because they saw this doesn’t mean it’s an attack on the whole server.
I’m not talking about what they said they saw. I’m talking about what’s being said in posts here on these forums. This incident has been reported. ANet is surely looking into it. This endless round of accusations and insults needs to stop.
I wish they would lock the thread. This one primarily features a couple of people campaigning to get a commander banned and endless attempts to denigrate the integrity of an entire server. Shame on you whose only contribution to these forums is nonstop bitterness and paranoia.
Honestly, it seems like there’s still the opportunity for this game to have an attitude of sportsmanship. No need to have a CoD-style troll fest.
Are you kidding? You’re asking whether there are rules against your opponents being unhappy with you spying on them. Your post is a troll post.
Consider rotating reset times between the various time zones every three months.
That’s the only way I can think of that would come even close to being fair for all of the different zones involved.
Personally, I’m in the US, Midwest, and the reset time for me goes from inconvenient (currently I’m trying to get dinner on the table at reset) to awful (I’ll still be at work).
If it’s bad to ask such a question then we’ve all been bad at some point, hah!
Not “all”. Please don’t generalize. The only time I’ve taken a port from a mesmer is when s/he has offered first.
Posts about lag or other technical issues should probably go in the technical support forum. Also, it would probably be tremendously helpful to the technical support staff to include some details about what you’re experiencing and when, which OS you’re using and a description of your hardware. All of this info is necessary to properly troubleshooting any performance issue.
This is a well known problem that has absolutely nothing to do with a players hardware. This is an Anet server side problem. They have admitted in the past that their servers cannot handle the amount of skills being sent to them and there is a huge bottleneck.
The thing is, you don’t know for sure whether or not it is the player’s hardware. You can assume, and maybe you’re right, but what if you’re not? There are a lot of computer users that don’t know much about what’s inside the box and will never get their problems sorted out if they don’t go to the right place with their questions.

I already know that the 4 WvW maps are required for 100% map completion, but what’s this about jumping puzzles? as far as I know the jumping puzzles don’t contain any objectives needed for map completion.
getting WvW map completion used to be easier when there was more movement within the rankings. now things are very stratified, and while it’s still possible to get map completion even if your server gets the same color week after week, it’s definitely harder now, especially if you are stuck as the weakest server in your tier.
I saw another post indicating that Arenanet may be considering some kind of color rotation scheme that would help with this issue.
-ken
p.s. the most difficult jumping puzzle isn’t in Eternal Battlegrounds, it’s in Southsun Cove.
Jumping Puzzles are not required for world completion. I think the OP is referring to one or more of the Vistas which require jumping to access. WvW is not the only place where this happens. Some PVE Vistas are set up this way, too.
For the OP: I’m not a fan of dungeons in general, but I will have to do TA upwards of thirty times if I want to earn my legendary. That’s the way the game is designed, and as has been said previously, part of being rewarded involves having the tenacity to slog through everything required, including the stuff you don’t necessarily like.

A system like this would only lead to massive tampering of the rankings/matchups by external forces.
And a metric kitten-ton of griefing.
But would it? If they keep the gem cost up there, it should be enough of a deterrent to stop that kind of behavior. Maybe also add a timer like the switch servers or number of times/servers you can guest on. I don’t think this would be that big of a problem. I’m not sure enough people would use it to be able to really mess with the rankings. Even if they do they also get the benefit of either getting more real money or draining more gold out of the system if people use it to get gems.
It’s already been demonstrated via problems we are currently having with a troll on my server and at least one of the servers we’re competing against, as well as reports I’ve read from multiple servers elsewhere, that cost is not an issue when it comes to players trolling or attempting to manipulate battle outcomes.
People have paid for multiple accounts, paid to transfer, paid for commander hats, etc., to accomplish their desire to control, manipulate or exact revenge when they don’t get their way.

In the end, this would just be a gigantic can of worms. Way too many potential abuses and problems for it to be feasible.
Lepew has provided the definitive answer.

That was a great read, Aidget~! Kudos for painting a most entertaining picture.
Awesome! You never can tell who it is you’re helping.
Also, your sig reflects the message of your post nicely.
A huge variety of armor and weapon skins useable no matter what I’m doing in the game. not too easily obtained, and a way to “learn” or store great quantities of them would be a pretty good carrot for me. Just as an aside, carrots come in bunches, so hopefully there would be plenty of other incentives with time, as well.
Also, on a side note, it’s kind of funny to see that for all the talk Kalkz gives of his super PvDoor skills, BP has spent each and every night on the bottom of the tally charts.
This may be the first time anybody has ever bragged about their superior PvDoor skills.
I was just pointing out something that seemed kind of funny after his repeated posts on this thread threatening golem rushes that would have the ground shaking and the weak of heart running for the hills. As someone who likes to sleep at night rather than spend it bashing pixel gates down, it’s tough to brag about something I’m not part of.
Don’t worry though, you shouldn’t have too look to far to see someone bragging about superior PvDoor skills. I mean, you have the loudest of them all on your own server.
We do love our Kalkz, who does much to bolster the morale @BP. Kalkz operates with a unique mix of ADD and yes, loudness, which comes across to me as a cheerful sort of bravado. He really is fun to run with.
It is my hope that though it is hard (if not impossible) to detect. there is some humor mixed in with all of the barbs tossed his way.
BP and AR only 3 points from each other.
Has that 3 pt gap closed or widened?
The groups I’m in seem to move from point to point on the map pretty efficiently and only use the WP to cut across the map infrequently. I don’t think a change is necessary.
I agree there are problems inherent to allowing people to obscure their identity, even if it’s just a character name. When this option became available on another game I played, paired with the ability to move from server to server, just as you suggested it became a haven for people who did everything from being verbally obnoxious to cleaning out guild vaults. I would hope AN has looked at all the potential pitfalls before designing their approach, but I guess that remains to be seen.
Has it been verified that a name change would remove a player from your followers or contacts list? If not, then adding a favorite commander to one of those lists might be helpful, though you’d probably wonder who that new name belongs to when a change happens. Still, the account name would not change so that may be enough to connect the dots.
I belong to a really tiny guild, so when I go in I look for a commander’s insignia and head for it. After awhile you get to know the commanders and their individual styles and you may choose to run with one over another.
As for joining a group… once I’ve caught up with the commander I can click on him to get the “join squad” prompt. You can do that from the map, too, by clicking on the blue insignia. Make sure “Squad” is checked in the list of chats available on your chat box. (You can see the list by clicking on the little gear at the top left corner of your chat box.)
Most servers have a website. You might google your server name to find yours. You can get to know your fellow players better by participating in your server’s forums, and you may even find that your server hosts their own VOIP server. That’s probably the best way to get the scoop on what’s happening in game, and to communicate while you play.
Hope this helps!
(edited by Debsylvania.7396)
I played for about 5 hours last evening, until midnight-ish CDT, and ran in groups varying in size from 30 to 60 players. Mostly in BP Borderlands, but for a little while visited AR’s as well. Had a grand time, it was like playing a new game, really, finally getting to see things more or less in full.
A few spoke up saying they were there to see the effects of the changes, and I’m sure there were some that got their fill, or will soon, and won’t be back regularly… it’s hard to predict. We’ll see soon enough.
Can I trouble someone for a score update? Long day at work and curious.

Rank 6 is also “Assaulter”.
It only has this effect if you allow it. If it feels like a chore, don’t do it. Skipping it when you want to be bothered is not going to cause your mmo world to crashing down about your ears. Truly.
I want to keep my fall damage reduction trait, thank you very much.
My forum experience would be greatly enhanced if I never, ever, had to see posts made by particular individuals. Would you please add the ability to ignore someone, effectively making them disappear forever?
Thank you kindly.
