It’s a devourer nest. They all look like that. Presumably they kill the males and make a nest out of their corpse? I don’t know.
The purple stuff is the eggs.

In Frostgorge Sound, with NPC Rojan the Penitent:
“Everyone fights… or something.”
Oh good, I’m not the only one. For ages I though he was trying to be profound but failed at it.
I think it should check how many are presently in the party, and the required number of votes should be equate to a ‘majority’. In a group of 5, at least 3 votes. In a group of 3 or 4, at least 2.
I’d agree with this.
With only two in reality all it takes is one person wanting to kick because there is usually someone who just hits the button because it’s there.
I’m always a bit wary if there are two from same guild in fractals or Arah because you get people who kick right at the end so they can sell the spot or bring in friends.
You can report them for this though.
I don’t think they’re that bad unless it’s a large open world boss event where the cap for conditions is met without even trying (swap out to direct damage in these or you really are leeching the event unless it’s an organised go at the wurms), you are having to take out objects or you are speed running a dungeon where mobs should be dropping too fast for your conditions to really kick (though for speed runs Zerk is usually specified as a requirement anyway so you shouldn’t be joining those groups). For PUG groups they are fine and can even be great if you’re able to pull of well timed Epidemics so long you aren’t stepping on the toes of another condition user.
Though in general yes power is a much safer bet for group PVE but when you are soloing it doesn’t mater, do what you like. I use conditions because I like using them and get bored of being direct damage on all my characters.

Yep, it’s Sigil of Geomancy http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sigil_of_Geomancy
I have a few of those on my weapons. Creates the ring of earth that applies bleeding on weapon swap.
Well since my Sylvari already has the green with a purple glow and thorns thing going on yes I would like a backpack out of that.
It has always puzzled me that we dress ourselves in the costumes of our hated enemies. Karka tentacle backpacks, scarlet backpacks, aetherblade outfits and slick packs…its like the allies winning world war 2 and then dressing as the Reich.
Trophies! You remind everyone you killed them by walking around in their bloody remains.
I don’t think they want you to be able to circumvent jumping puzzles with abilities and it wouldn’t have much use outside of that so your not likely to get it.
I don’t mind NPC’s having skills the PC’s don’t. I would assume my characters can do more than actually have as skills. With NPC’s you don’t have to worry about balance, breaking the maps or skills that are just hard to implement in a way that would be useful in game-play. I would also assume NPC’s are also not locked in set classes.
It would be cool if you occasionally had things play out differently in the story depending on what class you play because of special skills like what the NPC’s have but that would take a lot of work on ANets Part.
Although it seems weird to me that necromancers can summon bones and undead out of nothing now. My necromancer doesn’t feel like a necromancer, they’re a summoner with an undead bent. It would have been less random if there was actually the skeleton of something there for her to manipulate.

I don’t mind locking the achieves until a second cherry pick run where you pick which part to do. I do mind locking them to alts. Once I’ve seen the story, it should be my choice whether to do the whole thing again or not. Had I known this lockout would happen, and what the achieves involved (hard to know before the first run through), I would not have used my RP main to do the story as he’s ill-suited to many of the achieves. This despite my always starting LS content on him as he -is- my story main.
Once I’ve gotten the lore and experienced the tale, I should be able to go in on an alt to work on the achieves. The rewards can be tied to playing it through on green and not offered on purple, that’s fine.
That’s the way it has always been. One characters Personal Story is not another characters Personal Story, so equally there’s no reason you should have access on an Alt. It’s not an ‘Account Bound’ progression, simple as that. You can’t jump a level 1 alt character straight to Zhaitan; it makes no sense.
If anything it is more about the role play aspects, keeping the story into the limits of each character.
But the PS was also to help guide you through zones, speed up levelling, get you decent gear for your level, introduce you to dungeons ect and the only achievements where for actually doing some of the quests. It also had branching paths and more opportunities for dialogue choices so it wasn’t as boring to redo. The LS is being done post 80, it’s mostly the same things every-time with some race specific dialogue and it dose have achievements. I don’t want have to go through it again if I want to use a stronger or more just suited character for achievements (Anet please stop giving more reason to not play my Necro ). Story wise even if I didn’t actually do X LS segment with a character because I felt like playing a different one at the time it seems odd that they would presumably have being sitting somewhere with thumb up their kitten while all this is going on.

Just a warning if you want to use the tier 3 cultural armour chest piece. The weapon placement is like if you were using the bottom skirt half as well and so hovers a large distance off your characters legs depending on what body type you use. If weapon hovering and tail clipping doesn’t bother you than you have a much wider range of armour than I do.
I’m still using the tier 1 cultural armour (with tier 3 boots). It’s not very sleek although I suppose if you can find and actual black dye for it (black= brown on this, and I have no good black dyes anyway) then it could look like something that would obscure your shape in the dark and you could hide things in it shrug
I use to have a combination of stuff and still have it as my “I actually need some defence” set (I have Whispers and Priory together with the transmutation trick to get around order restrictions).
The latest cash shop outfit looks alight in preview (minus the helm).

It was like with all the races for that group of faces.
I don’t mind too much, it’s was probably a resource/ time issue and the different textures do make them look different.

Agreed. The whole “Grind” of it is just down right stupid. Bleh.
what grind? You are bored one day, hey gonna go snag one of those achievements. There is no pressure to do it within a 2 week period now.
Lets say its “take a break” fun. Or in my case, hatred. But thats for other reasons.
It forcing repetition. The fact that there is no “pressure” to do them isn’t the point. If you want to do them you have to deal with arbitrary restrictions which just make the process slower without adding challenge.
I think that there is a significant difference between offering an incentive to repeat the content and forcing one to repeat it.
But adding incentive to replay by locking out things is a bad way to do it. It doesn’t encourage redoing it because you want to, it just adds inconvenience and frustration for achievement hunters. If the achievements are challenging (which is a good way to extend content) then you’ll get people repeating it to get them anyway. They could offer alternative paths if they want a less arbitrary incentive to repeat or keep giving you (small) rewards on repeat.
I think one reason why they may have done this is that in Season 1, a lot of players did the Living story content just to get the achievements. The Living story was seen as just another way to get more achievement points and not as a continuation of the story. Perhaps by locking achievements during the first run, they are trying to encourage players to play through the content casually as an adventure without any pressure of completing achievements and to watch all cutscenes. I actually like this decision for this reason but I understand why many people dislike it.
Perhaps but I don’t know that it will actually help. I generally watch the cut scenes unless it’s a co-op and others want to skip. Its not like watching those cut scenes stops you getting the achievements. Anyone who was ignoring the story before will probably still be ignoring the story.
(edited by Demented Sheep.1642)
The reason as to why Trahearne is loathed by so many is written out at length by many players over in the Living World Discussion and Lore Discussion sub-forums. The short version was mentioned up above; we do all the work, he gets all the credit/glory/rewards/titles after having done nothing.
The players want their spotlight as the hero (we did the work of one), but all we got was barely a footnote as being “Random Person #2,319,575 that may or may not have done something to help Trahearne, the Real Hero, to save Tyria.” – Trahearne needs to cozy up to a wood chipper and not return to our story to steal our glory and trod all over our sense of accomplishment from our saving Tyria.
Here is a good image that goes around the forums that accurately displays what happened and how it affected the Players behind the Player Characters.
(contains spoiler for end of “personal story” with fighting Zhaitan – the spoiler is the “fight” itself as well as the presence of Trahearne…who spoils anything he makes himself apart of)
Where on earth dose this keep coming from? When dose he take credit for killing the dragon? He gets to be leader of the Pact which is probably because otherwise you’d be stuck with them since you can’t really have the Marshal kittening off to do other things and because you belong to one of the orders.

At the moment this is a mild inconvenience but I don’t see the point of it and it has the potential get really annoying. It feels like it serves no purpose but to artificially extend content. You already have a whole bunch of dialogue that you can’t skip which is fine the first time but you have to sit through that every-time you play the mission and its impossible to actually get the achievements without sitting through it at least twice. You can’t just switch to a character more suited for a particular achievement or you just feel like playing at the time because otherwise you have to go through the whole thing again to unlock them for that character. Personally I think it should just unlock the story mission account wide when any character of yours completes them and you should be able to get achievements from the start.

Something seems to have messed up somewhere. I had massive lag as well and when I asked map chat about it everyone who replied said they were getting the same. It got to the point where it was unplayable (3 second delay in skill activation). Fortunately it’s only dry top.
Jumping puzzles can be fun extra content but don’t like how there becoming the main thing is some of these updates. I like platforming games but frankly this game just isn’t built for them and the design of the puzzles isn’t great especially the bamboo sticks jutting out everywhere. There is a big difference between what you actually see on the screen and what it actually is, you end up with the cam ridding up your characters kitten (especially if you are playing a charr or norn) and I don’t know if it’s me, maybe it’s from lag but the aspect skills are a bit buggy especially the lighting pull one. If I wanted to do lots of platforming I would play one of my games that was built for that.

I don’t know about Canach (didn’t play that LS) but Aerin and Scarlet probably aren’t coincidences. Aerin didn’t seem crazy in the last LS (or even soundless since makes reference to pale tree and dream). At least he didn’t seem crazy in the ‘having conversation someone who isn’t there and homicidal’ way, he was just excitable. He also isn’t a major villain. He is already dead.
I’m guessing Mordremoth is either the creator of Sylvari (pale tree is a rouge dragon minion perhaps?) or is just able to corrupt them where Zhaitan could not because they’re plants. If they are going to be introducing him it makes sense to do some plots with the Sylvari going off their rockers. It might also be linked to ley lines and whatever magic the zephyrites had.

So uh, bring on the skimp! I’ll be here in the corner eagerly awaiting some male battle lingerie, sculpted bare midriffs, hotpants, tasteful thongs and whatever else they’re bold enough to give us. Final Fantasy can do it, so you can too, Anet!
O_o
Dear, sweet, merciful Dwayna. I…used to think I was a fairly progressive dude, but if that is gender equality then…. No. Just no.
But seriously. I don’t even object to those armour styles, I simply would not wear ‘em on either male or female characters because it’s just too far over the top for my tastes. I don’t think we need this kind of forced ‘equality’ though. It’s perfectly fine for males and females to be attractive in different ways. Vive la difference!
Funny of “attractive in different ways” tends to mean guys don’t get sexualized overtly and instead get ‘strong’.
Guess what? a lot of girls would like that “forced equality”. If we have deal with your kitten you should deal with ours.
(edited by Demented Sheep.1642)
It dose encourage teamwork. Ideally you should have smallish teams on each boss and kill them at the same time.
What it doesn’t encourage but people still do is zerging the same boss. Teamwork doesn’t mean everyone doing their own thing in the same place.

And god forbid you get made uncomfortable. It only women who should there to be ‘make your own kitten material’.
If your going to do skimpy at least make it so for both although at this point I would say some more armour that actually armour or covering on girls and skimpy on guys is due.
Personalty I want more elegant stuff and while I like the trench coats more that aren’t for medium without making them underboob or having fishnet slits down the kitten would be nice. The only one I want ‘skimpy’ medium armour for is my charr.
I wish they hadn’t put a boob window on the latest gem store one.I’m not uncomfortable with male characters who expose their skin, fur or leaves. However, in contemporary fashion ‘revealing’ just does not work the same way for males.
Uh huh, So because hairy dude with genitals hanging out of the bottom of loose tshirt looks like terrible guys can’t do skimpy?
There are plenty of ways to do skimpy that aren’t that.
Skimpy and male just ….do not sound right together. shudders
Would be cool to go shirtless, or at least hide the chest armour.

While I agree and want the option for female toons to use some of the male armors (male heavy phalanx at least), I cringe at the thought of seeing male human light classes in the female starting armor (you know there would be someone who runs around in it).
So? I cringe at that on female as well. If a guy wants to run around looking like an idiot in high heels and ribbons to, why not?
(edited by Demented Sheep.1642)
Secondary power set? I assume they meant the fact that you multi class. Basically you wound have your starting class and then you could pick a another class after a certain point. You end up with their skills and some of their attributes but not their primary one and still have to use your first classes armour and runes. For example you could be an Elementalist/Monk. You would have both elementalist and monk skills but would miss out on being able to invest in the Divine Favor stat which increase the effectiveness and duration of buffs and heals.
Guild Wars 1 had that from the start and that was how it was designed to be but I don’t think such a system would work in Guild Wars 2. It doesn’t seem to have been designed with that in mind and they would have to rebalance everything. In GW1 each class had it’s own attributes and you had a limited pool to invest with so it would be easier to balance than in GW2 where every class uses the same stats.

“I loved that little fellow” when a minion dies.
My male Sylavri cracks me up not because of what he says but because he sounds a bit….hmmm posh? don’t know how else to say which was amusing when he had glowing blue leaf mohawk.
It’s a cat, human, bear, cow, crocodile?
As a new player I was a bit surprised when I was landing matches with people ranked 40-50 and even 80 (based on finishers I see them using). How dose their matching making work?
I know I’m new and therefore not great so I would rather be matched with other people who are new so I can have a chance and not be screwing over veterans. I know better than to double cap but I do run in circles/take the long sometimes because I don’t the maps that well. I’m still learning the tricks, still tying out different classes. I imagine it must be almost as frustrating to be on a team with a newb as it for me to die repeatedly to same person who can down me in 3 seconds.

4 lvl 80s. 1 has map completion and another is 80% of the way thru.
I don’t get why anet puts champs on some of the SP -_-
(Tough luck to those who wants to solo)
With Mega servers chances are at least one other person is going to be after the same SP anyway or there will be others willing to help.

If they put a bank in sPvP, you port into sPvP, deposit your crap, leave the mists, and then you are exactly where you were. This is not the case right now, you either use WvW or sPvP as an intermediate step to get you to Vigil Keep (or one of the 5 home cities through Vigil Keep), and then you can port to whatever is closest to where you started off.
For example, you’re farming CoF like crazy. You have a full inventory. As it is now, you could port to Vigil Keep (or anywhere with a bank, doesn’t matter), OR you go into either WvW or sPvP, use the free portal to Vigil Keep, then take the WP back to where you were. Unless there is a bug I’m unaware of (very possible), this is the only way to reach a bank, and it involves paying at least one WP fee (two if you don’t use WvW or sPvP), and then walking a certain distance from whichever WP you chose to where you want to be.
If a bank was in HotM however, you’d port to the mists, deposit your crap, and simply leave, being by far the fastest and cheapest method.
If that is what they are worried about they could make it that when you leave the mist you end up back at Vigil. I may be wrong but I don’t see why anyone would have huge issues with that. I suppose if someone is PvEing and gets the urge to drop everything to PvP right then they would now have to pay a WP and run back to they were after but that is a very minor issue. Although the Mists might end up a hub for PvE’ers anyway but I don’t know how many would really bother with that. I don’t think many players actually take to much notice of WP costs and would bother waiting thru an additional loading screen to avoid them.
(edited by Demented Sheep.1642)
Forced to PvP? what? It encouraged me to start PvP, I imagine it did the same for others so there are probably a ton of new players but I’m not playing it for the reward tracks. You can still get much more farming PvE.
I disagree unless you are talking about norn because I don’t like the gorilla physic though dose make them look less human or charr because I don’t like the ott fangs which make it look like they can’t even close their mouth though if they removed that the men would have more interesting faces.
Human females look like dolls and physically weak. Slyvari men have far more interesting faces than the women. A lot of the female asura look “cute” which I hate. Men have better armour as usual and it only gets a pass because it is better than 90% of mmos.

Honestly? I might be completely wrong here, its just my experience because I’m not an expert theory crafter or anything but I don’t see staff being a good main weapon for a dungeon. You could maybe do a boon sharing build but I don’t know how useful that will be really. As a backup? sure. This is not optimal but I use it sometimes for that reason and if I have on swap anyway I’ll pull it out at start of a fight for the warlock and Chaos Storm and then switch to sword/focus. In a dungeon your likely stacking quite a bit an I think you should try to be melee. With the skills we have you can survive pretty well. Staff takes a while to ramp up and as far as I know doesn’t have the reflects focus dose which is a major reason people take mesmers into dungeons. If I have to range I favour it over greatsword if I can keep the phantasms alive for the fight and the party is applying lots of different conditions (which is fairly common anyway).

I think the gaps for them are unreasonably long. It’s now very easy for people to be playing during times when certain bosses are just never available which is even more annoying now that some give traits.

All the races have NPC wearing clothes that aren’t available to player. I’m not quite sure why.
As was stated many times, problem rises, when u look on NonZerker gear. My celestial lost alot of dmg. It was offensive gear in the past. Not it is defensive gear. Mind you, it is fully equipped with expensive infusions. And now all of this is lost. Its almost a 1k gold setback. Maybe more. I fear to even start counting my losses. So yeah…
When you look at non-zerker gear, you run into a problem. Not every stat set uses critical damage. If an armor set does not have critical damage in it, it’s completely unaffected and does the same damage post patch as it did pre patch.
I dont get you. You do realize, that celestial gear uses crit dmg? It had as high crit dmg as zerk gear. And now it has it less, than zerk gear.
It is not that hard to understand, SOLDIERS armor is “nonzerker,” and does not use, or have, crit damage. It’s unaffected. RABID, CARRION, and several others do not use critical damage either. None of those sets are affected. Next time dont say “nonzerker gear” because it’s going to be wrong immediately, because you’re referring to sets that specifically have critical damage as one of the three stats.
What? Zerker specifically refers berserker gear not everything with crit damage.
Does anyone ever ping zerker gear and then wear something else?
This again? I don’t often run with zerk or exp only groups myself even though I usually use zerk because I don’t care if takes a little longer and its seems snobby but there enough people playing generally that you don’t need to lie you way onto a zerk group. Just make your own! Let them play how they want. Lying about it and joining a group without meeting the requirements just makes you look like an kitten .
No, anything you salvage or MF gets it’s skin automatically unlocked. Once it’s unlocked its unlocked. You don’t lose it.
I would love to join more than five guilds. I’m in one for guild missions, one for my personal bank, I’m the GM of one that’s extremely small, I joined two others for pve stuff and I REALLY need space for an rp guild or two – especially ones that are for a particular type of rp (nightmare court, slaying nightmare court, etc).
Just join one guild that has ALL of these things. Tarnished coast guilds have all of the things you listed, and it wouldn’t be too hard to get a position to use the guild bank.
You say that like its actually easy. There are a ton of guilds that claim to PvX and do everything but most of them only do some things very occasionally (if at all). Then you get very specific events that require a ton of people like Teq. I don’t rp but I would imagine finding a guild that dose the specific rp you are looking for, everything else you want to do, is big enough to always have member wanting to do what you want to do and have guild missions would be near impossible. I use my own guild bank for personal storage not to share it so it isn’t the same as just using a normal guild bank that everyone has access to.
(edited by Demented Sheep.1642)
Not all guilds are about repping 100% of time. Some are for organising specific events (dungeons runs, teq slaying, pvp, wvw ect) via guild announcements and don’t care about rep or only need you to rep when doing the events.
Also personal bank guild
Joining more than 5 seems like overkill though but I don’t really see the point in restricting it.
(edited by Demented Sheep.1642)
If they do this it should not be floating damage numbers. There are enough effects and numbers popping up on my screen already and I would prefer to be able to actually see what is going on. Maybe have it in the combat log and make it so you can separate it from chat.
(edited by Demented Sheep.1642)
A large amount of people do them to the point where you get multiple overflows they just don’t get done every time they spawn because they require coordination so you have to do them at organised events.
TTS was recently doing a 24 hour teq killing run in kaineng.

Wouldn’t stop them completely but there should be a confirm/deny when someone friends you.
It’s likely just to much work.
Changing human armour to other races is what they always do. They don’t change them that much and it often doesn’t look the best because of that.
Charr or Aura armor to human you couldn’t leave it basically the same since they don’t have gendered armour so you have to make a female version and head and feet likely would require redoing. Some Sylvari armour looks like its growing from them and incorporates skin colour. It would look really weird on another race.It indeed would mean creating new armor models to adapt the sets to other races, but if that is considered too much work, then I don’t know what isn’t in a game that relies mostly on skins.
I just imagine that we’re going to be stuck with the same old armor sets, maybe with some fire particle effect added.
Relying on skins or not with how things have been going, especially in regards to adapting armour to other races I don’t expect them to do something like this.
Cantha connection
Also the name assassin implies they are all about….well assassinating. Thief is a bit more broad.
It’s a lore thing, and as mentioned in gw1 assassin’s were hated, they were called “sins” because players saw the creation of the class as a sin by anet. Funny though as it was a stealthless class. There was no stealth at all in gw1
and here I though they were called sins because its better to shorten it to that than “kitten ”.
But I do remember them being rather one note and one of the classes you didn’t want an idiot playing.

Is anyone else kind of disappointed in phantasms? I feel like my Mesmer is most uncreative or arrogant illusionist in existence. Clones should obviously look like you but there is no reason why a phantasm should as they aren’t there to confuse who the real Mesmer is. They could be anything! They could be used to terrify and unsettle. They could be completely unnatural wtfkery. Unfortunately they are mostly just a see-through pink version of you doing a modified version of another classes attack. I suspect this us for cost but still, missed opportunities.

For a second I though you mean Juggernaut as in : http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Kurzick_Juggernaut
and that this was a very different sort of question.
I think my power based chars are basically sorted though power/prec/boon duration or power/toughness/boon duration might be nice.
Condition on the hand has alternate stat combos I would like to try. Condition damage/power/precision (maybe also also power as main version). I never got why rampagers has precision as the main stat. They worried the set would be to powerful in PvP otherwise?
Condition damage/precision/condition duration and condition damage/toughness/ condition duration and condition damage/toughness/ precision might be interesting,
(edited by Demented Sheep.1642)
lol I think there is a charr somewhere that has a female voice but is male judging from the tail to.
No, if you buy any other product and months later they add new things to the package to entice new people to buy you don’t get those. None of that stuff is unique and unable to be obtained any other way (which would be a bit kitten) and it’s not unfair because you’ve had all this playtime that they didn’t have. You get what you agreed to when you bought it.
