Kill 300 things

Is this supposed to be fun? The events lately have been nothing but painful nonsense that feel like an episode of Dragon Ball. Let’s please cut the filler from future events and have more meaningful content.
I do not care if we end up having fewer events if instead you put more effort into what we do get. I would actually be in favor of that right now as the devs seem to be spreading themselves far too thin.
I like to use SAB as an example because of how nearly perfect it was. There was a small grind for skins, but whatever. Most of it was about playing through the content and finding all of the hidden bits, which is a lot more fun.

I do not understand why they don’t just add in custom and private games for these PvP things. People want to play with their friends, not random groups. It would make things so much more enjoyable.

There should be several bet amounts with different rewards. The lowest bet could be something like 1 silver to make it accessible, but offer very little reward even if you win. Then adjust the number of vouchers needed for various prizes to compensate.
People can get their achievements, prizes are still valuable, more people are able to participate, win-win.

It feels like somebody accidentally a 0, but I think they were considering the overall amount of candy that players would obtain and the impact on the number of wings added to the economy total rather than the amount obtained by a single person.
What they needed to do instead would be to lower the amount of candy needed, make the candy account bound and make the candy version a masterwork account bound version like it was with the super adventure box. Possibly lower the drop rate of the rare skin as well.
This would allow people to realistically obtain the skin on their own without flooding the market with too many skins.

Yeah, it’s bad design. I don’t really get bothered by it though because I am completely used to things like this from previous MMOs, and this is nowhere near as bad by comparison.

The jumps are the same and the characters jump the same, what’s different and why it most definitely is easier for Asura is that if you try to do some puzzles on an inferior race, all you see is butt. They are situationally powerful, so I wouldn’t call them the best. Party defense is always my first concern, and that’s why I usually use shouts. Granting protection, regen, stability and aegis is more useful than projectile reflect when there are no projectiles to be reflected.
Now, in CM, SE, certain fractals or whatever other places have many ranged mobs, you can bet I take out some shouts and add projectile reflects. You’re just silly/lazy not to.

I like this post. They may make more money through RNG, but it is an incredibly disgusting way of cheating people out of their money and it ultimately drives people away. In the end, I don’t think getting more money now will help when you drive all of your customers away with dirty business.
I would be so much happier if they just sold their items at a flat rate.

I don’t think I could be less happy with this event right now. Ran multiple times everyday for the entire event and I didn’t get anything worthwhile. Crap drops every. single. run. RNG does nothing except for tick people off who spend countless hours farming only to turn up empty handed. This absolutely causes people to stop playing the game and find something that’s actually fun to do.
I’ll move on for now, hoping there will be better content in the future, but if the RNG continues I’m going to run out of patience eventually. There needs to be a token system or something comparable for everything.
As an asura, I do this all the time.”
I am completely against this limited time content. Limited holiday events are one thing, and that’s okay because it’s an event to celebrate that holiday, but making normal content like this limited is incredibly stupid in my opinion.

You can make things difficult to get without kitten people off at the same time. I wouldn’t have an issue with super rare items so long as everyone has to jump through the same hoops to get them, but with RNG it gives people that made no effort at all what some people have already spent days trying to do.

It is also just plain silly that you aren’t able to work towards the jetpack by doing the actual dungeon it comes from. The MF is definitely not a place for gold farming.

I still don’t see the logic of getting rare items by being lucky only. I am fine with doing crazy amounts of work to get something, but there are those that get the super rare most desired items after their first run. Why is it sensible at all to shaft so many people.

I think at this point it is best if I simply farm CoF and buy the thing. If I did that from the start, I would have it by now.
It is so stupid that I have to farm a different dungeon in order to get what I want from this one.
I really, really hate this event right now.
As an asura, I do this all the time.”
@Wiser with Age – This exclusivity attitude is common. Yet it will only satisfy those that get lucky. The others that tried and failed, due to RNG, are left with a bitter taste. Anet was on the right track with it’s transmutation stones and armor dyes but the models are not as varied at the moment and weapons are less customizable.
And this is what I’m afraid of. I really want the jetpack in particular because it will go with the theme of my warrior, but I could end up not getting it at all because I was unlucky. If I end up having countless hours wasted and end up getting the middle finger when the event ends, I am going to be incredibly unhappy.
Only rewarding a handful of your players and alienating the rest is not good business practice.

So with the new Molten Facility, there are now two new unique items, a decorative jetpack back item, and a new miniature that many people are after. (there’s a bunch of other stuff that I don’t feel like listing.)
The dungeon is only around for a very limited time, and these two items in particular have a very low drop rate. This leads to only a handful of people having a small chance at getting these cosmetic items. Limited time only items are nothing new at all, but the way it’s being done this time is really bothering me.
It doesn’t matter how many times I run the dungeon, there is a very realistic possibility that I will never see them even if I run it every day for the duration of the event. I have no real way of making progress towards these items, my only options are to either hope for a small random chance at getting one, or spend a ridiculous amount of money at the trading post.
The Super Adventure Box on the other hand allowed people to work for account bound versions of the items that could be gained by making actual progress by completing the event. There was a small chance at getting ones you could trade, but more importantly is that you could make solid progress towards your own personal goal.
Unfortunately, that isn’t the case with the Molten Facility and this is making me feel very pressured and forced into running this dungeon a lot more than I want to. It is incredibly disheartening to, after running this dungeon several times each day, never see any progress towards an item I am trying to get. I feel like I’m getting burned out for the first time since I started playing GW2 because of the combined limited time this event is available and low chance of obtaining an actual reward for doing it.
Does anyone else think it would be better if we would get tokens at the end of the event that we could exchange for a soulbound/account bound version of the new items?

Don’t take the post the wrong way. You may be the best ele out there. Dungeon master and all. Doesn’t change the fact for PvE Guardian and Warrior are your best options.
Edit:
Ele does have a role it excels at and it is general support in a game that doesn’t really need support. So there you have it. /shrug
Not at all. With the Ele, you have the obvious swirling winds which allows the Ele to make certain things trivially easy, you have party condition removal, you have aoe heals, you have fire fields at your disposal to grant many stacks of might across the party increasing DPS, you have the only lightning fields in the game allowing you to stack vulnerability, you have party wide defensive boons such as protection, regen, fury, blindness and swiftness, decent CC, and you have high structure damage. On top of that, the Ele has the ability to give other classes the ability to achieve what they can’t do on their own with conjured weapons (which are not all bad in PvE) especially including the combo finishers associated with some of them.
An Ele is prepared for everything while other classes are not. Eles allow teams to achieve many things that a party of all war and guard simply cannot do. The Ele excels at being able to do everything. It is a unique role that the Ele was intended to fill and it is very useful. No, it isn’t going to be as fast as that party of all Warriors, but your chances of success with an Ele will be better when you are ready for anything.
I think this is getting off topic though. Plain and simple, the whole point from the beginning is that Eles are one of the best at self sustain because of their combined healing and mobility. It isn’t about whether or not Eles can offer as much DPS or group support, it’s that Eles rival the best classes in the roles for what they were nerfed in. A cantrip Ele has so much break stun and condition removal that surviving with one in even the most difficult dungeons is not difficult to do.
As an asura, I do this all the time.”
The min max argument is only true for people that want to do something like CoF speed runs, and there are only two classes as it is that fill this role.
The ability to do everything is definitely valuable. I am happy when I see Eles (as long as they aren’t using a staff, which I’ll admit sucks) because I know I have someone here that will be able to sustain themself, support me and still do enough damage so as not to hold everyone down.

The Elementalist for me has become incredibly boring both in PvE and PvP because of how overly forgiving and easy it is. You can make countless mistakes and still faceroll everything once you understand your rotation.
So you are saying the Elementalist is more forgiving than any other profession in Arah and 30+ Fotm, you can faceroll there with your D/D bunker build and make everything easy. Really?
Yes and no. I use S/D in PvE.
Then you haven’t played a Guardian or even a Mesmer in Fotm. A lot more forgiving than the Ele in any way or form.
I play fotm exclusively on Guardian and Ele. Your inability to play the class well does not make it weak.

It seems to me that the only way for someone to feel there is no reason to continue playing the Ele or continue playing at all is for someone to need to be the single most overly powerful class there is in order to have fun.

As for D/D ele’s I won’t speak on their damage as I’ve had many debates with the people on these forums as to my opinions on them. Simply put, Ele could rival the best on mobility, rival the best in sustain/survive. Still deal very noticeable damage, whether some would call it burst or not. The fundamental problem with that from an objective view was, they were meant to be the jack of all trades, not rivaling the best in 2 areas.
In turn, bringing down the sustain (Water Trait Nerf, though could of been a more substantial nerf imo, but maybe they know something I don’t.)
and mobility (RTL nerf)
Solidifies their ideas on Ele. To be a jack of all trades. To be MODERATELY good at everything, but not very good at anything.
And this I really agree with. The Ele isn’t what it was supposed to be to begin with.

Atleast this’ll get me away from this game. Started to play it a bit too much now anyways :P
It’s funny. I’m betting 90% of the players who claim they will quit will not actually do so… and if they do, will be back in a week.
Wishful thinking I guess! There are other games out there you know, and real world lives to keep people occupied. Thing is with all these nerfs, this game will no longer be enjoyable to play, thus it will no longer be played. Simple as that lol.
…actually the game will still be enjoyable, you just need to change up your tactics a bit. People on the Guardian forums are going bananas as well with the whole warrior unblockable signet thing, but to be honest these changes aren’t going to ‘break the game’ as all the doomsayers say it will. People are resistant to change, and will always throw hissy fits when said change comes around. Lord knows Everquest 2 went through THREE entire combat revamps (1 of which was also a total reworking of my Paladin class in addition to the combat revamp) in my time playing it, and there’s still lots of people playing that game today. Just take a breath, wait for official patch notes, and then try the changes out for yourself. Only real way to find out just how different the changes are.
This post is much too reasonable. What now are people supposed to do with their torches and pitchforks?

It just goes to show how incredibly spoiled Eles are when they think RtL is their only mobility skill. You have a total of 6 leaps and 1 teleport, that can all be used in the same build if you want.

The message is clear from Anet. Play thief or warrior, or quit. The two most OP faceroll classes are getting buffed, but the all the ones that needed serious buffs in certain areas are getting nerfs in their few actually useful abilities. Do they have a lobotamized monkey working on balancing this game?
You do realize that in PvP, the Elementalist is hands down the single strongest class in the game by far while the Warrior is a joke right? I can’t comprehend how someone can think these two are even remotely on the same level.
As an asura, I do this all the time.”
I see absolutely no point in being able to go to a low level area and just do a million damage to everything. Level scaling keeps even the low level areas of the game fun for people that have reached level cap. The more you level, the more content becomes available for you to do. There is a pretty big difference between being level 30 or 80.
The difference between classes and their ability is also significant. Each class has their own unique abilities that can be combined with other classes to create unique strategies for many different party compositions. One example is the Guardian’s hammer ability that creates an impassable field, this can be combined with knockback attacks (with the Engineer in particular) in order to deal massive damage and knock targets around without knocking them all over the place. Another example is the ranger’s healing spring, which is the longest lasting water field in the game that can be combined with a class with blast finishers (such as a thief with shortbow) in order to fully heal everyone in the party.
The game has a lot of reward and diversity. The biggest problem is that there isn’t any really challenging content to force people to truly utilize it.
As an asura, I do this all the time.”
(edited by Dog.1472)
I definitely do not ignore the focus, swirling winds in particular is one of our best abilities and there are situations where it is invaluable. However, the focus has a smaller fire field than the dagger making it more difficult to get my combos off and it doesn’t do as much damage, so I tend to use dagger off hand as a default.
