Still not as bad as when Ascended was first released. Now THAT was pretty bad.
I was surprised that the June 23rd patch where Ascended gear increases from 5% to 10% from Exotic didn’t cause another upheaval :P
I had my popcorn ready, just as when Ascended gear got introduced, which I also welcomed
We can expect Lion’s Arch rebuilt in next week’s patch then (as the news blog post stated), seeing as there’s red posts not commenting that June 23rd will be too early for a New LA party?
In that case, can we please have the presence of some US Anet devs on EU servers during these events? For past events, you always show up on NA servers, but it would be nice to catch you in-game for EU players too to join in the celebration and just have a little friendly “banter”
Probably if you contact support / marketing, but then you lose your account doing the refund and have to get a new one and start from scratch.
Seeing as this is the most recent thread on playable races, here’s a little fun video from the Crowfall developers on Centaurs and just why we won’t see them playable in GW2 either…
That’s how I read that news post in conjunction with news about next patch hitting June 23rd.
Although different type of game and everything.. there was just the Fallout trailer followed by E3 show yesterday and boom, Bethesda confirms release date for nov 2015… 5-6 months from now.
Anet are being far too slow on that front, and they should know their time is now at E3 to follow up and get out there to cause some more hype for their product. I don’t give a kitten how long the summer is at Anet, their colleague’s Freudian slip suggesting they have an xpac coming this summer can be anywhere between now and october, but it’s earlier than Fallout 4 and Anet should by now be in position to tell us at E3 just exactly when they are dropping HoT.
Honestly i dont see anything epic in Tybalt. Useless …… censure. Glad hes gone as he was a shame for charr race.
Hear hear, enough with the idiotic petting of this useless and unprofessional Whispers agent…
If we’re getting a Charr legend, it better be Bonfaaz Burntfur or if they want to celebrate a Charr legend who brought about the Titan’s/Shamans demise, let it be Pyre Fierceshot!
Love – because money can’t buy it… apparently.
Anet – please look: http://swalsh81.github.io/gw2improvedwallet/
I’ve already shown them that link in my post about Wallet Improvement back in April.
Good stuff, hopefully the new wallet will look a bit like this and be scalable for future wallet extensions.
As for wallet keeping other than currencies, it’s only an issue if you let it be an issue for you. Afaik blade shards aren’t in the bank collection yet, and there are many of the suggested items that while not being currency per se are used in a currency-like manner. Whether content where it is used will return or not is irrelevant, the wallet should be expanded to contain these to lighten the load on inventories.
Anet – please look: http://swalsh81.github.io/gw2improvedwallet/
As you now take a few items into the redesigned wallet, how about you also look at the following items:
Historical: (just like you’ve got historical achievements, add category historical currencies so that people don’t need to hog bank space in the event of an event (sic) returning someday… SAB anyone? :P)
Besides here’s yet another statement on progress of testing:
We don’t know it’s close to being fixed. They said it’s closed to being fixed.
Excuse me, but can you please read what you just wrote back aloud to yourself.
Then, if you still don’t think you make no kittening sense other than trolling this topic, I suggest you learn what saying something means.
This thread has suddenly veered off with one trollish statement after another. The case is that an Anet dev has said they’re seriously close to fixing it, then they are probably testing it and making sure it won’t bug out so that the HoM can be reenabled.
My guess is the big specialisation patch might as well contain this one, or if not, it will come later this summer.
You’ll have your HoM rewards again soon, it’s not as if they’ve have removed them with no intent to restore them. All their feedback in this thread state otherwise.
Same here just now, char creation when you zoom in to your character for face details shifts the angle to far up. Just like in these shots.
GW2 playerbase=impatient
Let me fix that for you.
MMO playerbase=impatient
Forever the case…
Can not tell if trolling…
Epic captain’s log though. Almost merits a blog ^^
Yea, I can’t really tell if OP is genuine or trolling either… but Windu saved the day
One thing that’s been nagging me since Jan ‘13 is how Anet suddenly post-poned their expansion’s worth of content and suddenly shifted to a focus that so much needed to change for their game platform to continue forward. And since then it feels like practically everything in the game has been overhauled, and some stuff even more than once with the way the trait system will soon be dropped in favour of new stuff to come with specialisations.
All these game systems overhauls has seriously impaired the development speed of content in my opinion, imagine if the systems had worked or been tested on players before they spent so much time doing stuff that later would have to be reworked.
But also, the end of LS2 went like a few episodes, then a long break followed by the final episodes shortly after the break but then suddenly we were just dropped off with the expansion reveal. That was January/February… Anet’s timing could have been improved to the point that they could have worked for longer on the xpac with LS2 episodes coming out so that the wait between final episode and xpac wouldn’t have been so long.
But it wasn’t, so at least maybe we could’ve got some filler content in between – god knows how many times SAB has been requested. Or another bout of the Queen’s Gauntlet, or a Dragon Bash festival… or even making this Lion’s Arch rebuilding effort into a player-driven event where you do various activities in LA to help rebuild. Instead we’ve seen rubble replaced with girders, but nothing else is new other than rumours alluding to what’s to come. This isn’t content, this is stringing along.
Watching the top PvP players in championship after championship is neither content.
I was joking that we would get another PvP season and a WvW tournament in the looong wait between final episode of LS2 and the xpac, and sadly so far it seems I will be right. We’ve had a PvP season (actually, we’ve been testing the leaderboard and ranking algorithms in a far too length test season).
I’m resigned by now to due to Anet not giving us any indication they’ll pay attention to our concerns over the name. So I’ll just spec myself as Dragon Humper and ridicule the name, but enjoy the elite spec.
In my mind, I’ll just be Guardian and I’ll never say the DH name ever…
The beta create character slot can only be filled with a character created for beta. It has a separate ‘create’ button down in the bottom right corner. You’ll see both ‘CREATE’ and ‘CREATE BETA’ when a beta is live.
It’s kind of confusing, you can highlight the beta character slot and click on ‘Create’ thinking you’re creating a BETA character, but in fact it will then create a normal character in the live game for you…
And here I thought it was just the graphic designer of that icon listening to AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck” on that particular day…
As Ansari says, it is Emperor Usoku who is the tyrant to be aware of here. In 1127 AE he launches a great Canthan army on his Kurzick and Luxon vassals, defeating them and annexing them back into the Empire. And at the same time he continues the work of the Ministry of Purity to cleanse the land of sickness – both Shiro’s affliction, but at the same time xenophobically defeating any non-humans; Tengu and Dredge are mentioned, but I’m guessing the Naga also were driven out?
With Zhaitan waking and the Rising of Orr nearly a century later, the Great Tsunami is taken as a sign by the Tengu to return to Tyria (the continent) and they establish the Dominion of Winds over the island of Sanctum Cay, walling themselves off from the outside world.
Izu Steelshrike suggests however after Zhaitan’s defeat at Fort Trinity that the Tengu will maybe come out to lend their support in the coming battles, but on the other hand, they retreat within their gates when Scarlet Briar destroys Lion’s Arch and the Breachmaker wakes Mordremoth. Anyone approaching the gate is peppered with arrows, regardless of affiliation, not the best token of support
So I’m guessing they’re sitting out the fight against Mordremoth too. The minions of Primordius are the ones so far threatening the Dominion of Winds most, attacking its walls from Kessex Hills, and that is my guess as to which Elder Dragon will draw them out.
Alternatively, when the Krait Nightmare Tower was erected in Kessex Hills, I was guessing it was related to Deep Sea Dragon and its vicinity to Dominion of Winds would also attract the Tengu… however, it showed to be Scarlet’s Toxic Alliance and related to Mordremoth. But still, my secondary guess would be that DSD could also introduce the Tengu to the fight just given the proximity of DoW to the sea.
Like Lindelle said, that’s pretty much the entire book. Well, the being formed part would be the first half of the book; the second half is time skips of them fighting 2 dragon champions, Kralkatorrik, and breaking up.
Didn’t you just sum up the book?
I thought EoD was written in such a mundane way, it went like (and this is not exactly correct, just example of my impression of the novel)
goes to fight.
Character Y meets character X.
Character X + Y goes to fight.
Characters W + Z go to fight.
Characters X + Y + W + Z go to fight.
They’re getting good at fighting by the way!
Characters, now known as DE, go to fight another dragon champion.
Intermission before Kralkatorrik fight.
DE now go head to head with Kralkatorrik.
Oops, that didn’t work out…
DE break apart…
And we’ll go messing with channeling sentient echoes of both Mallyx and Shiro.
In the famous words of Trahearne; “This won’t end well…”
I’ve gone through lots of articles to try piece together who the mystery heir could be, and what irks me most is this article
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Tyrian_royalty_family_tree
It draws a direct line between Salma and Baede, although it cannot be so, and at the same time adds ‘unknown heir’ in as Jennah’s father, who again has no line to either of the 4 royal figures who predate him, of which the unnamed eldest son of Baede is likely King Roderick… but then again, with Baede’s death in 1256, it is Edair that takes the crown being named successor. How come then King Roderick is named King Roderick in the history books, does he follow after a short reign by Edair?
A few actually…
1. While we have the Ossan district with Elonian exiles, why does DR have this stupid Great Collapse that happens out of the blue and incidentally removed the Canthan district for nothing else than political (out-of-game) reasons…
2. As I’ve posted a new topic about; for an unbroken royal family line from Queen Salma to the current ruler, Queen Jennah, there sure is a lot of obscured details about the exact rules… heck, where is even Salma’s heir that is King Baede’s parent?
3. The Forgotten are placed on Tyria by the Gods, and the Gods arrive shortly “predating the Humans”. But we know the Humans appeared in Cantha back in 786 BE, but also that lore articles+interviews state that the Kingdom of Orr was the first to be established, by Gods and humans together, as stated by Ree
So, once long, long ago, the gods of the humans brought the humans to Tyria. And they founded a kingdom called Orr and the city of Arah.
I’m probably taking things a bit too literally, but the mystery of this timeline is slightly annoying
I think they’re just honest mistakes, but I really hope the Anet Lore Bible doesn’t contain great holes in its logic.
You can go for a Aegis of Purity look from old Cantha, like Rei Ki in GW1.
Is this your toon? Do you have any idea what the helm’s called? I’m guessing the pauldrons are from the priory, breast plate part of the Phalanx set and the lower half i vaguely remember coming across this one so i’m confident i can pull this look off if i only know the helm x) THANKS for sharing the pic!

Hi,
I’m working on a little fan-fic side project of mine, and I’m fleshing out the background so that it works within context of established lore. However, and I’m afraid you might point out it’s an already established gap/mystery, but who exactly is Salma’s heir?
There must be a son or daughter who ruled between her and King Baede? If you look at their timelines of rule, you not only can fit one person but you have to fit at least one person because of expected life duration of Tyrian humans and if nothing else – the duration of a reign.
If Queen Salma is known to have become queen in 1079 AE (roughly the time of Battle of Lion’s Arch and defeat of White Mantle), and King Baede at the latest 1219 AE (with Rising of Orr). That leaves a 140 year gap, and given Salma is not a baby in 1079 and neither is Baede so in 1219, you kind of have to have a link between these two.
It’s also stated by the Divinity Guide that the ‘royal family has continued in an unbroken line from Queen Salma to our current ruler, Queen Jennah’. How can the history books be obscuring the heir of Salma and the parents of King Baede?
Appreciate any help on naming of these two, sadly I’ve painted myself into a corner with my fan-fic where exactly this unknown ruler reigns at the time of one of my protagonists.
Why not going one step forward and bringing back the pockets?
F1 : Steal
F2-F4 (F5 traited) are pockets. And when you steal something, it goes to the first empty pocket. And when you use anything in a pocket, so you can’t get all them filled then spam, they all share a cooldown every time one is used.
Now now, that’s pushing it!
Great suggestion though!
Well, for some old trophies they’ve added the option to double click and just make them go away.. I would love it if they could do that for a bunch of items I’m hoarding in my bank in fear that they might be used for something later…
Something between 1500 – 2000€ since release. I don’t have that much time, since I have a full time job. But I easily can afford that.
‘would have/would’ve been’ —> correct
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I just had to quote this for your signature! People pointing out the horrendous ‘would/should/could of/have’ mistake are my heroes!
Also, I agree that I could afford my spending all those Euroes I did, but calculating the total makes the sum sound daunting even if it’s over a long time.
If a Dragonite consuming item doesn’t come with a Lion’s Arch rebuilding event, I definitely hope the Hylek in HoT have got one lined up for me
Maybe their Sun/Jungle deity could have a dragonite feeding relic?
around $9000 that all went into the gem store except for about $25 of it that was converted into gold.
Hey, so you’re the guy funding Heart of Thorns expansion!
Moa Riding mastery line so that we can train to be jockeys in the all new Moa Racing Track competitive challenge in Lion’s Arch with leaderboards from a fun and rewarding social and competitive challenge activity.
Well… one can dream
GW2 – the game where you can leave for X months and come back happy. Never mind the loyal players who have to sit through all the downtimes…
Yup, you just made me go back through my transaction history and add up…. shouldn’t have done that. Over a 3-year period (even if it’s not been that long yet) I’m paying more average per month that an expensive MMO sub would cost.
Anet, no more (soup) gem money for you until expansion hits.

Yep, my bet is on this little White Mantle treat in Brisban Wildlands too. Be sure to catch the event chain while you’re there!

Wow so much hostility LOL. You can buy GW2 for $10. How is $2 for 1 different weapon, 1 new trait line, and a set of utility bad? Its just a suggestion as seeing I don’t think I will buy a whole expansion for 1 small thing Anet can get to those people who only want some specializations unlocked. I’ve read Gw2 has sold over 5 million copies. Thats quite a pool of potential, seeing as a portion of those are second or third accounts. I have two accounts and might not even buy one expansion.
Imagine the head-worry and micromanagement of all the checks for who has bought what…
Instead, it’s a binary switch with ‘Got the expansion? Fine, here’s everything. Oh, you don’t… here’s nothing’
And for all the development needed for that micromanagement solution that would take away precious development time of something more important – like game features or content – this request should be rejected.
I’m more worried that people will now go get themselves invested in WS (that now goes f2p) or check out ESO, SW:TOR, etc.
Oh .. WS will kill GW2 the second time, and ESO has already killed it twice .. and now will kill it the third time ?
Oh and of course there is also ArcheAge .. and Black Desert ^^
Nope, not calling them GW2 (or WoW, for that matter) killers at all, they’ve already proved themselves wrong in that respect. But when things are slow in GW2, players drift elsewhere… even back to TERA and The Secret World, and those traditional MMOs can get you hooked on endgame grind and at one point you might then cross a line where you go, “OK, GW2 what was that again… I think I’ll just stay here as a top raider/PvPer/crafter (or similar) and excel in this game.”
I’m not in that boat, just worried GW2 might lose others that way (like they did lose all but a handful of my original 100+ guild in GW2 after only 6 months). That’s over 90% of a small population gone…
Anet, just acknowledge the bug and give all those with a portal stone who didn’t get access to the last Closed Beta access to the NEXT Closed Beta.
Problem solved, apart from a lot of hurt player feelings, but at least they’ll then rest assured they DO get to play a closed beta without doing anything else for it.

Proper compensation (if any is given!) should be access to a beta event in the future. nothing more or less!
That is the only correct answer here.
Challenge Missions
Competitive Missions
Group Missions
I’m not worried about GW2 losing players to newly released single player games, I’m more worried that people will now go get themselves invested in WS (that now goes f2p) or check out ESO, SW:TOR, etc. and at some point doing so, you reach a point where these traditional MMOs require you to commit fully to ensure you’re achieving to the max – and then you’ll not have time to come back to GW2 that is too casual to require you do more than login for a reward and then log back out after completing your daily in 15 minutes.
With the Captain’s Council vote players had a choice to choose between Kiel or Gnashblade; maybe the renaming on Surveymonkey could’ve been made into a rebuilding efforts event in LA where players would again turn in votes on each of these categories. Instead we now have a changed map that we contributed nothing to; what’s the next phase, another mid-rebuild version of the map or do we suddenly login one day to find LA magically restored in its new glory?
If the Consortium are shipping in something huge, that should be something we should get to experience – I hope – and not just see magically in place after a patch hits.
First of all – condolences on your loss!
As to the request; on a general note, I’m not to keen on all these NPCs being added as testament to players that have passed away due to aforementioned reasons above.
However, maybe when Lion’s Arch is rebuilt and gets its Field of the Fallen, there might be memorial and gravestones there. Possibly one stone or another for players of the game to be recounted as an unlucky citizen of Lion’s Arch that didn’t make it out alive.

Anet still hasn’t said a word about the challenging hot content.
They haven’t said a word about the remaining 6 elite spec’s, guild halls or adventures either.

Kind of early to complain about lack of challenging HoT content when the expansion isn’t live yet, no???
You guys realize Lord Faren is confirmed to be in this expansion right?
It wont stay depressing for long.Unless he shows up and is instantly, brutally murdered :P
If you want to make an omelette, you got to break some eggs! Yayy! :P
+1
If you want comic relief, zone out of the warzone to stay in the comforts of your noble quarters, dabbling with steins of ale, omnomberry pies and you can have a laugh with oooooooopaloooooo the frakking quaggan or similar.
Leave my dark and terrifying Maguuma jungle to me, I’ll go vanquish Mordremoth and then maybe in the aftermath, we’ll see this place gradually change to let light back in. But for now, it’s time for dark atmosphere and setting.
And Mr. Faren in his trunks can go kitten off to Southsun Cove for all I care, he’ll last 1 second against these Mordrem agents.
Any update on your progress with this issue, Anet?

Keep this one updated instead of this new thread.
The pace of this is nearly enough to make me install TERA/ESO and get invested in those again…
