I think it’s works pretty well in general. I know you are PvE, so this probably doesn’t even relate to you, but speaking in a WvW sense, Shadow Refuge is perfect. It’s enough so that the thief can use it to escape, however if the enemy knows what he is doing, could completely end it for the thief through the use of pulls/pushes/aoes.

high risk, high reward, exactly how it should be. Although lately I’ve noticed more and more people knowing how to counter it. Recently I’ve been using shadow refuge as a distraction, while I am secretly behind them. Mwahahaha

I think the Chest Thumping and QQ scoreupdates should be permanent. There should also be a GW2 millenium section for that. Kudos to that guy who thought of it.

They’re nerfing the wrong things. Cantrips don’t need a nerf, nor does the stunbreakers (Stunbreakers need a buff in the game overall)

Instead, they should have nerfed Ether Renewal.\

Kinda sad they didn’t do anything to shout builds. Guardians running shout builds + soldier runes are practically invincible to condition builds. Don’t remember the last time I was taken down by a pure condition thief/necro

Torment will seem okay, I guess, but it’s still doesn’t make scalevenom worth it.

Congrats, you do 75-150% damage of bleed for a few seconds at the cost of a utility. Might as well just run caltrops and do a million more damage + cripple or drake venom for the chill.

Anyone wanna duel before reset?

Heavies won’t die in one backstab combo if they spec in toughness and have full hp, unless the thief is using the signet might stacking build (activation of heal, all 3 utilities, and elite to get 20 stacks of might), which I have never seen a thief use, because they die afterwards…they can’t even get away at that point.

Anybody claiming that they can down a heavy with one backstab combo is free to test it on my guardian.

I /laugh at people when they camp next to tower entrances to lure them out, then kill them.

Pretty much this. I liked last week’s matchup though, that was one of the few where we catch JQ with their pants down and no server to latch their maws onto for a 2v1 week. Just look at the current score, SoR is the real monster here and the reason why JQ is ahead. Catch them alone with a server they haven’t met yet and they’re pretty much meat.

I want more of those just BG vs JQ. Or better yet just a World vs World match with the two of us and that’s it, no third server. No more bragging rights while holding onto Daddy SoR’s hands.

So BG must be so proud of a win over JQ during Dragonbash PVE fest ..with JQ focusing on Dragonbrand nonetheless…

Why on earth would JQ bother with BG when long awaited Dragonbrand landed in T1? our SEA wanted to fight NNK and TFV since forever … and our NA can finally get some RE and Agg blood… and JQ should keep on fight BG … for the N number of times? for points that don’t really matter in the new RNG system?

And there’s the Dragonbash? everyone always say JQ don’t ever need recruit SEA since its JQ’s strongest timezone… but at one moment in time during SEA primetime last week JQ was outmanned on all of its BL with no que on EB…. I was pretty surprised to find the ATM map without a que… and absolutely shocked to see ATM with outmmaned buff on its own map ( and no its not Thursday or Friday..)

B) I wish I had known dragon bash was limited to JQ’s server only… I guess the overflow in LA was just people waiting to get into WvW then…. which is odd because generally only EB was queued.

Dragonbash would affect JQ moreso, as it’s obvious they have the least wvw population out of the 3 servers. If they could barely hold queues/no queues, Dragonbash is going to take even more players out, yet if BG has queues when they play, having players leave for Dragonbash won’t affect them so much, because they have a queue full of people anyways. If anything, just shorter queues.

SoR has always been about the fights. If you came here from another server because we were on our way to the top and you only care about the PPT, then you might as well transfer, because we want fights, and we will have them. Everyone there had fun and the map was calm. If we were losing our garrison I might be able to sympathize will you, but nothing was happening.

FYI, the queue was only one minute. I’m sure nobody was kitten ed because they were stuck in a one minute queue.

Now for the flamey part I guess. So from my reading of your two posts, the necromancer class has absolutely NOTHING to offer besides dealing damage? I certainly don’t think that is true but the problem is that PvE content provides very few(almost none) opportunities for this. Then there are the stupid things like not being able to interact/res people in DS(haven’t tried in a while, maybe different now). Those sort of things do not require doing anything with condition caps but they are also harder to implement/balance. They also make things more interesting beyond “MOAR DDDDPPPSSS!!!!!”.

If it sounded like I was just asking for more dmg I worded it wrong. What I meant is that there is not much use for necro and probably other classes since either most bosses are effectively immune to some effects (fear, knockdown, knockback or other means of moving the boss, and so on, due to how defiance works, this prevents stunlocking, but also greatly hinders control of some classes when reflecting projectiles and block work much better as control or dmg mitigation abilities, which is why mesmers and guardians are very popular, then there is the survivability, dps and banner support from warriors. It’s noteworthy that some encounters have a lot of adds and AoE is needed this is where ele and necro shine, ele being the more popular, but there is great utility in necro’s AoE fear and blindness from plague form, but none of that is actually really needed because in most add encounters (that you can’t skip) high AoE dps is enough and greatswords on both warrior and guardian are great for that. I would say that the main problem probably is in the design of the encounters (for example a lot of bosses have slow high dmging attacks which are perfectly countered by block, but if they were fast low dmg, block would be useless and weakness with chilled conditions would be great). Put simply in most situations in GW2 PvE offense is the best defense and bringing down the boss fast is better than controlling him.

I’m not saying" give my necro dps similar to warriors " I am saying make me a worthy class in dungeons by class or boss encounter mechanics.

(no you still can’t ress while in DS but that is probably intended to make you vulnerable while reviving)
BTW there is a pretty cool necro dungeon build revolving around supporting with wells, which I might try with some guildies

Still this thread was about condition stacks which would help with some of these problems.

Unfortunately that wouldn’t solve much since often if there is even more than 1 person with condition based build there are 25 stacks of bleed 95% of the boss fight this change would make that 100% but a lot of that dmg would still go to waste, meaning that those two people would dwarf each others dps quite a bit, some people may not see the problem there but consider if 2 melee warriors would deal about two thirds of their potential dmg when they attack the same target. And the more people inflict condition the more dmg they steal from each other making them contributing less to the group.

Thief is probably one of the worst classes in WvW in that they are extremely squishy even with a full PTV set. With zerker, you can do some damage, but you will die so fast you probably won’t even get a shot off. I wouldn’t even bother using my thief for WvW zergs.

For 1v1s and 1vX encounters they perform very well though. I’d like to say it has the advantage in a 1v1 over most classes(excluding mesmers, guardians, and d/d eles) and they also possess the ability to escape most situations.

tl;dr

Get your thief to 80 if you plan on roaming. If you plan on zerging, not worth the sweat and tears.

Nothing with the “wow” factor really came out in 2013, and GW2 continues to update it’s content, so it seems plausible that they would hold the title. Living story might have alot of RNG, but it’s alot better than what we normally get.

New finishing animations would be awesome. But I would like it to be unique and trolly

It can only benefit you. If you find yourself performing better with a thief, good, but if you don’t, you will still learn the mechanics and use that to your advantage. Most people who have rerolled as thieves turn back to their first classes and stop complaining, simply because they come to realize the techniques to counter the thief.

We predicted our daily income of BG tears would be astronomical. We were not disappointed.

The only thing that increases your HP is once you reach the final upgrade, where you get vitality stacks per each guard you kill, which usually totals around ~2.5K total HP. I was experimenting with this and full Sentinel’s armor and was able to achieve 30.5K(with WvW robust buff & food) on a thief.

Problem is the moment you stop you have 12s before stealth disappears. I’ve already tried it as a thief and i’ve already watched 3 thieves attempt to break 12s for 20+ minutes straight. I even helped them with my own black powders and Shadow Refuges.

Never did it get more than 12s. Just wanted to give you a heads up.

i just log on my 19 matches played and read all the traits and click them and use dp combo as a newb thief like me i managed a 1 min+ stealth i can go on for ever like this if i want, also i managed a 15 sec stack with blinding powder and SR. like that guy said you don’t need to stack over an amount of secs to be perm stealth

The problem with that is against an enemy with half a brain, all they need to do is stand in your BP. Then you won’t be able to get more than 4s otherwise you will snag the enemy going through your BP, as he is standing in it.

You don’t. The first Heartseeker through BP combo can hit a player and still give stealth. Any hits beyond that results in revealed.

Please just make one so that when an enemy drops loot I automatically get it ._.

Probably craft Infinite Light. Then use whatever I have left for bank slots/inventory/more gear/transmutation stones(I go through those like a fat kid in a candy store)

I get one of “those guys” usually every other dungeon party. They don’t care about fun, I don’t even know why they play. Most of them suck as well. These are usually the types of guys who will kick someone if they don’t have full ascended zerker and aren’t warriors.

They’re also the types of people who will yell at newer players who are learning still. The second day Molten Facility came out one of the guys was basically talking in a very negative manner to a party member who had done it for the first time, on the second day of release. It’s pretty ridiculous when it gets to that point. I usually try to help them through constructive criticism and let them learn by mistakes, rather than outright yelling at them.

I think TC’s PvE influence may be getting to us a tad bit…

The good one who run tanky are hard to kill. The most annoying are the ones who are smart enough to shatter the phantasms to prevent cnd and use mostly zerker clones.

Very hard to kill as S/D, imo. P/D wrecks mesmers though. That’s why I run it ^^

The more interesting story line is that SoR and BG are only 3 glicko points away from swapping spots… wonder which server will have an easier time gaining ranking.

Rating has very little meaning anymore. Just the fact that a tier 1 NA server, by random luck of the draw, got matched with out-coveraged servers results in a huge loss of rating unless you completely crush them into the ground. On reset night, as soon as the new matchup was set we lost 100 rating, which sucks, but it’s whatever. Not sure how much rating BG is getting as I haven’t looked at their rating, but presumably a bunch pretty easily with the DB/JQ matchup.

Need not to argue much about TW transferring to JQ. From my point of view, they are just love drama, they want their existence in tier 1 that they so obsessed and spent gold to transfer. It is really okay, they only give a bad name to themselves and embarass JQ www players. well, both two servers probably won`t care but we all know and witness this biggest joke in www history.
So what if this week JQ lost with the help of the strongest guild fron sor? Will that be BG/DB >SOR+JQ? What if they won? that means JQ couldn`t win without SOR. win or lose, it doesn`t benefit JQ, BG and DB should be happy about that. No matter what the result is, the loser will never be any of this two servers.

And it gives me a laugh when you talked like Indo/SOR owns this game and as long as he informed Sor about his decision, he can do whatever he wants, join in the fight which is not belong to him, changing the result. By changing I mean regardless BG win or lose, affecting ppt means changing. Every decision has its consequences. Big or small, good or bad. Self-fishly join a fight which is not yours and affecting the rating of jq and db because he thinks it is fun only convinces me that…he is childish.

What are your opinions on a possible change to the skill “steal” where instead of stealing a one time use skill, you instead steal a temporary weapon set that can be activated and replaces your current skills?

For instance stealing from an ele can grant you a random attunement which can be activated giving you an ele-like skill set for 20s. Of course they should be toned down to promote balanced gameplay, but I like tinkering with the idea that steal actually gives you something more exciting and dynamic rather than “whirling axe(granted it can be useful at times, but it’s not very exciting nor dynamic)”

This would at the same time promote more gameplay flow, less thief cookie cutter builds, more variety, and I think alot of thieves would like to play around with steal and use it more decisively rather than as an opener to a CnD-Backstab combo. I also think that this could improve the PvE thief, being able to steal useful skills from mobs other than a one time use stab that places 1 stack of bleed on your foe.

Thoughts? Opinions? Do you absolutely hate it and think I should jump off a cliff? Do you think it’s glorious and I should be instated as a god?

Well, I think the “improvisation” part comes with steal, and using those makeshift items to your advantage.

But then again the things you steal aren’t really that great.

When I roam I use my thief

Best of both playstyles ^^

When I PvE I use my guardian. Hands down. I rarely PvE though.

Fun fights in both SOS and SOR BLs today for ZN,
it was fun defending hills ,after i 5 man took it from sos, against SOR then hours later moving to SOR and working with EP to take bay! (as well as two northern towers that where just being attacked to distract >_<)
good fights got alot of footage for our weekly recap!

They would’ve gotten more fight if they transferred to DB. So obviously they didn’t want too little or too much fight, just the right amount. JQ is the Goldilocks server of this match up.

If I were TW I would have gone to JQ either way because

A) DB offers new guilds to fight
B) I can still get the large scale 24/7 fights from BG

If TW went to DB it would just be like the Tier 1 days again, except their teammates aren’t tsym, choo, fear, lun, hel, hl, ect.

What is the name of the guy(s) that run TC’s dueling guild? May I get an invite?

It’s a conspiracy friends. TW went to JQ just to keep them in T1 despite the fact that matchups are pretty random and SoR can’t beat BG without JQ despite the fact that SoR’s TS message all of last week was something along the lines of

“JQ and BG may be 2v1ing for the rest of the week. Prepare your bags”

Seems like BG cannot rationalize with losing ^^

Granted, the last statement was an insensitive statement towards the hard working folks at BG, however I find it quite ridiculous that so many claim that the fair victory was an organized 2v1.
