IMO, thief guild is great at all times during a fight. At the beginning, it catches your opponent off guard(pulls, blinds). Near the end of the fight, you’re opponent is going to be dropping everything to either escape death, or to finish you. Pop thieves guild, pull, blind, damage, ect… Also very great for distractions.

Disclaimer : Does not do well against stealth thieves using CnD.

I would take 5 off trickery and put it into Deadly Arts for the apply poison upon stealing. That why he loses 33% healing potential, meaning your bleeds kill him quite a bit faster.

Though the whole “lol I R invisible and gank you with bursty burst then vanish and run away if I get in trouble” playstyle as a whole should stop being put in games. It will never be liked except by the people who like to abuse it and the QQ will always exist about it because it’s just lame to play against in every game that’s had a thief/rogue/assassin class since the dawn of time.

Dodging CnD is a thief killer. 5 ini down the drain. You cannot fully recover from that unless you pack blinding powder/shadow refuge. Also, immobilize, daze, stun, knockdown…us thieves hate all of those really bad

ele – mist form, absorb backstab
Warrior – endure pain, absorb backstab
Mesmer – invulnerability, absorb backstab
Guardian – aegis, absorb backstab
Thief – blind, stealth
Engineer – Place turrets to daze, immobilize
Ranger – I think they also have an invulnerability, not sure. If not, knockdown, aoes cripple, traps

I appreciate the effort, and especially appreciate the communication, but I seem to have trouble with the new culling issues. Sometimes, people randomly disappear(as compared to before, where it took longer to appear at first) mid fight, and I cannot see my team many times.

Thief burst is extremely counterable. I used to do backstab thief, switched because it was so unreliable, and I could NEVER kill a great player. Our targets are squishies, low levels, ect. No thief is knowingly going to backstab a tank guardian or warrior, for instance. It’s a small spectrum of “OP”. I switched to P/D. Be worried about those guys, not the backstab thieves. Almost all classes have a way to counter backstab thieves.

That’s 24 stacks of bleed per unload…which is insane.

Your videos is why I started using P/D. I love it. I’ve only lost few 1v1s, and I’m confident in doing 1v2s, but I could never quite take on 1v3s. I can survive for a long time, but everytime I down one they both insta rez him before I can finish…

Only problem with the grub is that it sort of screws over blue on some servers. Obviously you can’t control some people, and if they want to kill a grub, they’re gonna do it. It doesn’t help that the grub is right outside keep. Red has the ghost oakheart, but it’s not right outside there keep where everyone who just WP’d can see the event, and I don’t even think green has any.

IMO, it’s essential for condition builds, especially P/D. Most people tend to think P/D condition thieves can survive without it due to the fact that they’re ranged, however a huge part of condition thief using P/D is cloak and dagger. After using CnD(up close, of course), dodge in stealth placing caldrops, so when you pop out for the unload, you get extra stacks of bleed and a crippled opponent who cannot catch up to you.

That would destroy the entire core value of the thief. It would need an entire rework.

Might as well delete the class and start over.

Was an awesome 2hour siege in SM earlier. Also, someone was building flame rams all over SM when we were under siege wasting our supply…we never found out who it was.

Backstab is overrated. I play as a P/D condition thief and I have never been taken down by them in a 1v1. People just see scary numbers on their screen and make assumptions, and as a result the entire class gets nerfed.

If the exploiter was reported by his own, there’s no reason to continue the arguing…Obviously the players on said server are doing their job. Be happy it isn’t like (server named excluded) where a player exploits and glitches and they let him off with a “warning” and don’t report…

It’s already being made so that stealthed players cannot hold capture points. So can we let this thread die now?

Umberglade was IOJ’s favorite thing to take from us all last week and the week before. Then, they usually try to advance to Durios/Bravost and if it isn’t oceanic primetime, we usually respond pretty quickly.

As someone who leveled almost purely in WvW, playing as a low level is not nearly as effective as 80(if you’re like me, roaming around looking for small fights and taking supply camps), however, low levels in a zerg are just as good as any level 80. OP’s advice is solid.

Reviving downed players is too fast, and they start with too much HP. The fact that if you’re a second late, he’ll get rezzed, is lame. This is a problem for us tank builds/condition. Glass cannon builds can do lots of dmg to the rezzer, but for us, it takes time to stack bleeds and whatnot.

SoR just died out as everyone went to bed…but during our primetime we did catch up to BG, so right now, it’s anyone’s game.

But I swear to god…if we lose by a few hundred points that could be attributed to the exploiting…my jimmies will be rustled.

For thieves, vitality is much better overall, at least that’s how I find it. Keep in mind toughness does not do anything against conditions.

Can I get a score update before thread lock?

I like it the same. Well, if all attacks apply bleed then I wouldn’t care too much. Just don’t take away bleeds from the number 1 pistol build. That is the vital to the P/D condition build and without it condition thieves using p/d wouldn’t survive.

So say I played on your server and I decided to do the worst exploit ever and earned a horrible rep for my server and everyone decided to hate on it in the forums. You think it’s fair you are being criticized and looked down upon because I decided to commit some crime?

It’s the lack of leadership and action done by BG that earns them a bad rep. I mean, seriously. ICoa “warns” the player? The kitten is that? This ISN’T something that should be “warned”. This is in violation of Anets terms of service. That player should get BANNED from the game. The guild should have reported him and then maybe “warned him”, but they refuse to even give out his name so we can report him. Icoa is purposely hiding a glitcher that would otherwise be banned from the game. And the rest of BG should have had a word with Icoa, but by the looks of it, they got off with a “warning” too.

I’ve made an extreme self healing/vitality build in spvp. Everything was put into healing and vitality. It was somewhat sucessful. The people I played called me a pain in the kitten rogue(in a good way :P) but a pure thief tank isn’t that great. It was hard to take down, but simply can’t deliver any punches to knock out the enemy. A vitality/condition build is much more effective than a valtality/healing power build.

Please, do share this build. Just talking about it doesn’t really contribute, but I’d love to see what you’ve come up with.

I understand that a bunker won’t be able to “deliver any punches”. As a bunker, that wouldn’t be my job. A bunker is simply supposed to survive at whatever cost until reinforcements (the roamers) can arrive.

Now, keep in mind this is an extreme healing/vitality build that heavily relies on stealth and the ability to not be caught(basically, they can’t hit you and if they do, it won’t do much :P), due to the fact that you will gain anywhere from 350-400hp for each second in stealth. Shadow refuge, if not interrupted, can heal almost, if not more than hide in shadows. Your main attack will be most likely death blossom, for the insane healing with signet of malice. When there are 3-4 players present, dagger storm could heal an insane amount(also keep in mind, when against a zerg in wvw, signet of malice and dagger storm practically make you invincible. The more players the better :P). You might also want to use venoms as applying it steals health, but it can also be equipped with signet of agility if you prefer more dodge, which also drops caldrops, btw

Also keep in mind when versing a warrior, if you steal Axe Whirl, that also heals an insane amount.

However, with all that said I’d also like to mention that this is a pure tank build and it’s DPS sucks. Base condition damage on thief isn’t too bad though…

Mesmers should always win against backstab thieves. Against condition thieves…well…that’s a different story…

SOS, it appears you are now marred with some of the bandwagon players that gunked up BG, and other servers, using horrible exploits and poor sportsmanship behavior. I just received word that SOS was inside starting area on their borderland. Below you will see screenshots of this. How they got in, we all know. Why they are in, is clearly to grief and harass. This is the sort of thing that blackmarks any wins or achievements your server has or will have. The actions of a few are giving you a massive black eye that will change your image from hard working champs, to underhanded cheats. I still have massive respect for those in SOS working hard, and playing fair, winning by skill and power, but I wanted to make you aware of the behavior of a few. Please try to address this with your players, and explain to them when they are bragging about it, and talking about doing it, that it’s wrong, and will lead to hard feelings and massive hatred from other servers. I am sorry that it’s happening to you now, but please deal with it.

All he did was stealth past the first legendary defenders. He can’t kill you, but you can kill him. Hardly cheating. He probably just did that for lulz. If he walks any further he gets teleported back

I’ve opened about 50 black lion chests (mostly over Halloween) and I got one copy of the Endless Mystery Tonic that turns you into furniture.

Bear in mind that there are (several?) different versions of the EMT – one turns you into random furniture, one turns you into random mobs. There may be others.

The furniture/plant one is the one I’m after. I can just already feel the lulz that would insue in wvw…

Yeahh, if they do have a chance to drop exotics it is very very low. I’ve been doing WvW JP since release and have never gotten above a green. I get lots of badges/siege though.

Well I have gotten an exotic(shield called grimward) from the JP in the Sea of Sorrows event, but I’ve only gotten one rare from the EB puzzle.

A condition/tank build with lots of vitality is pretty decent, however thieves will always been inferior to just about all classes in PvE.

I don’t think they give precursors…

Backstab build is not effective. Not at all, imo.

Try a P/D condition tank build. I can help you out with the actual build itself if you’re interested.
