No disrespect to the poster. It takes some courage to post movies, but once again I have a huge problem with the gameplay displayed in this movie. The risk versus reward and ease of play for P/D is way out of bounds. How can you not see this?

I’ve also seen(and quite throughly enjoyed) your videos, and I have to say, that I cannot see the difference from your video and this. Yeah there is a lot of 11115ing, but mostly due to the fact that it’s a condition build, and those two attacks are used in condition builds. Using the horrible “vital shot” is a huge waste of initiative, Cloak and Dagger is useless except crippling high mobility targets. I use 3 as a stunbreaker. In all honestly, 1 and 5 are the only attacks a P/D thief gets. I don’t see how it is different from your guardian videos where you use your skills as soon as they are available after cooldown.

it is MUG + cnd

no trait shoul do 6k damage in itself, maybe we could petition to change mug to deal bleeding instead of direct damage,

and or CnD should act as a preparatory skill like black powder of offhand pistol(meaning less damage) instant cast, low damage

I like the steal bleeding idea. 5 stacks of bleed that’s duration and damage is relative to the player’s condition traits.

As for your CnD suggestion, as long as they don’t change the main design of CnD(stealth), I would not mind.

Personally, I don’t have a problem with backstab thieves at all, especially in spvp. I don’t want a nerf, but I would love to see some variety instead of “combo-2222222”. Remember folks you don’t need a nerf to mix in some variety

Any commander who is friendly and doesn’t “mindlessly zerg” and takes some constructive criticism is a good commander.

Any commander who wipes time and again banging a door on SM with no siege and has an unfriendly attitude is not welcome.

I haven’t experienced any of those bad commanders on Sanctum of Rall, but I know they exist…

Seems like an isolated case. I don’t know anyone else that has this problem. For the most part, GW2 WvW is pretty stable(even though culling really pisses me off sometimes)

Heal condition every 3 seconds in stealth + blinding when they try to CnD you or simply dodging. If there are “wildlife” around, kill them and stop his CnD.

S/D also destroys them in 1 v1

If you want WvW to turn into guild v guild, that would be a disaster. The entire ability to even play wvw would be on a few leaders, and would not be fair. Not everyone is a hardcore WvWer like us. You need to take that into consideration

Condition is better overall. A “burst” “crit” thief are extremely unreliable and unefficient due to the fact that it is very predictable and all it takes is a few clicks to either force you to run or die.

Condition thieves have a little more headway. You can afford to make mistakes, since condition thieves generally have vitality/toughness/ or healing. One mistake will not mean your death, and you can recover mid fight.

SoR does not have the strongest Primetime during NA… Blackgate shut them down during their prime which has been the case for the past 3 weeks. Come to Blackgate if you want to actually enjoy the game (plus we are moving up to T1 next week)

Anyways OP, if you’re looking for all around coverage(in case you’re like me, playing NA primetime and getting into the wee hours of the morning), sea of sorrows/blackgate/jade quarry have decent numbers that will satisfy your needs in at least 2/4 maps(usually EB and a home Borderland) at all times. Dragonbrand is a fun server too. If you’re looking for straight up NA primetime and really don’t care about oceanic primetime, SoR has a great NA population. IOJ also has a great oceanic primetime(just throwing that out there). I’ve been on JQ, SoR, DB, and have played against SoS, BG, JQ, ect, and trust me, you won’t go wrong.

Don’t get me wrong it’s pretty amazing and I’m impressed, but it wasn’t exactly 4v30. Now if there were 30 bodies by the time the video ended, I would be begging you to make more ^^

Just throwing an idea out there. I talked to other people and they liked it for the most part. How about on friday, right before the reset, we have a “Say goodbye to Blackgate” celebration? All 3 servers will meet up in EB and have a joyous celebration and interserver 1v1s with the winner getting a prize and all sorts of kitten things before blackgate leaves us.

SoS oceanic is pretty unmatched. Last time we played them it was ridiculous. Be interesting to see how it plays out.

Solo roaming – Thief or D/D ele – take out dolyacks, supply camps every now and then

The zerg – Basically everything else, ele included. Thief is pretty moot in zergs due to their relatively squishy nature and uneffectiveness of stealth when it’s AOE spam battles. Clusterbomb is nice, though

For PvE, imo condition is better overall. It’s much more survivable and some builds have insane healing (signet of malice + caldrops & death blossom).

What I would do in your situation is wait for him to hit me with CnD, wait 3 seconds, dodge or use some sort of mobility/teleport/block and let him waste his initiative :P

Whoever the SoR thief was that dueled me NW of Mendon near the 2 griffons, you sir, are awesome! I was the [UNSN] Sylvari thief. It was a real shame that we kept getting interrupted forcing you to have to back away, I was glad every time you came back because that was some really fun dueling – and my god, how long were we at it? lol, it’s just a shame that we couldn’t really continue to a conclusion because of interruptions, but I salute you, I hope we can do it again.

Best tequatl loot – level 80 exotic named sword(winged spatha) + 2 rares

Tequatl gives me better and more stuff on occasional basis. I never get anything good from jormag. Mostly blues and greens.

Looking for some 1v1s before the week is over! Solo roaming doesn’t quench my thirst for skilled players!

There are barely enough ppl to WvW. During the night you will maybe have 5-10 ppl. there are times when there is barely anyone online.

I’m in tier 2, so it’s definitely harder because people tend to interrupt, so when I do it, I gotta be fast, otherwise my chances are gone. Also, I can’t find a youtube video of someone doing it legitimately. It’s all jumping exploits or even hacks…

I let them watch. Even if my teammate want’s me to help, unless it’s higher than a 1v1, I respect it. Get some skill and then you wouldn’t need help

I can’t find a legitimate youtube video, and I’m working on being the first to achieve that. I have solo’d some towers before, but mostly based on pure luck as enemies didn’t do a thorough check, or using awesome thief stealth, and that makes me wonder, there has to be a people who have done this before. I know you people are out there who solo towers often! Teach me who you are and what you do!

Late night WvW, Durios getting attacked, gate open, I turn on Xfire to tape it, sneak in, hide under the bridge while BG takes it and walks away leaving no one behind, wait for champ tower buff to go away, sneak up, attack, kill all the guards, get the tower lord to 20%, boom, out of no where a BG comes and interrupted everything. I get knocked down as the tower lord is shooting me and getting evicerated at the same time. There goes my tower solo and epic youtube video. To that norn warrior with 2X legendaries in the clan “vdka” well played…well played…

Although I’ve been getting more and more tower solo’s lately (all legit, mind you, I have video proof), one of these days I’ll record one and be the first youtube video to legitimately solo a tower.

Decided to have some lulz in BG garrison. Sorry in advance for the quality.

Video is only 6 minutes short because it was taking up hard drive space so I cut recording there. Stayed for a solid 20-25 minutes and as time progressed more BG came until I finally died due to Quaggan lightening stuns. Unedited footage…audio probably doesn’t work. There’s no intended purpose of this video. I just uploaded for the lulz.

I can take out just about any guardian with my thief in WvW. There are 1-3 that have totally destroyed me in a fair 1v1 though.

It isn’t oceanic primetime yet. SoR is still awake for a few more hours, hence why we hold top ppt.

Had a fun time in inner BG garrison as hordes of BG tried to catch me. Lasted 30 minutes until quaggan stuns killed me

Use signet of shadows activate and blind their CnDs

Or use a shortbow because the #3 skill comes in extremely handy when dodging CnD

IMO it was better with IOJ, because IOJ was oceanic based and dominated late night WvW to keep things balanced. Now we have 2 NA stronghold servers and another server with exceptional overall coverage, as to one NA stronghold, one oceanic stronghold, and one with exceptional overall coverage.

I’ll stay with Sanctum of Rall thank ye.

Wall jumping exploits and wall penetration exploits/hacks. That why when you are able to take a tower by yourself or with a few teammates, not everyone is quick to falsely accuse you of hacking

A Treaty won’t save SoR/TC your servers honestly don’t have the round the clock coverage that blackgate does. Recruit more Oceanic WvW’rs. Coming from a blackgate original I was there when the server went to t1 and it wasn’t pretty, the zergs were bigger the exploits were way more often. I’m honestly quite happy staying in the t2 bracket. So Sor/TC you want to make a treaty maybe you should make a treaty to throw in the towel and ensure blackgate moves up a tier cause we got no problem leading t2 bracket week after week, and this isn’t because we are more skilled it is just a numbers game in our favor.

Well to be fair, we played Sea of Sorrows for 3 weeks, and put of a hell of a fight (some matches were back and forth until the final days, much smaller of a gap than now). A week later Sea of Sorrows went to dominate T1 as BG got pushed down to T2. I do believe we can at the very least, put of a fight in T1, but yeah we lack the oceanics…

Hi, from SoR here. TC is a great server. They suffer the same problem as us, and that is we have a very small oceanic presence. I know the community is a great community, and if you transferred you won’t regret it! Night capping is a serious balance issue in WvW, and with your help, we can certainly make a difference for Tier 2 balance for all servers!

I haven’t advanced past 40, but I did fotm 10 like a million times and never have trouble unless it’s group related.

I run P/D tank. The only advice I’d really say is that don’t go glass cannon. Do a 20K hp stealth healing build with conditions.

I posted this in the Tier two forum, but I’m going to post it here too, because it is relevant. Not everyone inside a closed tower is a hacker/exploiter. They could have snuck in before and hid. I’m not aware of the hackusations going on in T3, but it sounds similiar

You can find CoF armor with the same stats, and there is an armor set called “Shiro’s XXXXXXX” that has the same stats. Sometimes it’s cheaper. I got mine for 1G a piece way back in the day. It’s good that you used P/D in spvp though. I rarely see any skilled P/D thieves. There’s an increase in them, but most of them seem like wild bill bandwagoners, and can’t actually play the class correctly.

the skill is called 100 blades – it has 3.25 seconds cast time and is imobile, Moreever is casted on an npc with vulnerability up. Warrior has 23 sacks of might , arround 4300-4500 p attack. In order to cast 100 B on an player at full potential , you must find an player without condition removal , stunbreaker , invulnerability / mobility skills. and 2 guardians to buff you with might ^^. good luck on that
compared with backstab , 0.25 cast time -12.000 you can cast also 5 heartseekers in that time and 3 normal hits ^^ , and move meantime.
I do not complain about thief, but do not make ridiculous comparations

Ahh yes, but you forget CnD, which is required for sustained backstabs(which it sounds like you’re talking about, not the opening combo).

Tip: If you get hit by CnD, start dodging backwards and placing cripple/aoe chills if you can. He won’t even be able to get in range if done right. For me it’s much easier as I shadow step a few paces back, then place some immobilization traps, but not everyone has em.

Glass cannon thieves are weak in dungeons. They have high burst, but sustained DPS is horrid, especially when you have 11K HP. A carrion condition thief is great, but they don’t offer anything in terms of support. The only real support is venom share, but honestly, I would rather have a guardian/ele support.

Just place some AOE’s on top of you. It’s it a P/D thief, he can only auto attack, no unload from stealth very often. If it’s a BS thief, he’ll have to get hit by AoE. Don’t mindlessly spam random aoes.

You’re an engineer. Use some elixars. It isn’t that complicated.

I don’t see how the spawn “exploit” is a big deal. IMO, it’s no different than someone just walking into the normal spawn point, or someone escaping into a tower just as they’re about to be killed.

Here’s a picture I took at Klovan last night. Our trebs from SM couldn’t hit BG trebs(they were on top of the supply depot) in Klovan so we had to move to manually take them out to defend SM. It was an epic battle to say the least. We didn’t take klovan, but we got the trebs! Keep in mind this was really late last night. People were starting to doze off since it was mostly NA players with backup from other borderlands for a last stand SM defense. As you can see there is an FA, ICoa, KnT, choo, CDS, GGSH presence.

While a lot of guilds are missing many players, the overall server population in WvW actually seems higher right now on SoR. Last night there were queues for all borderlands (5 mins for the BL that I went onto, but still a queue). Ironically, there was no queue for EB. I think the difference in score is more of a difference in the number of organized players in the game, rather than a difference in the overall population.

Finally someone from SoR who isn’t blamming “Lack of coverage” or “We are on vacation for the holidays” for the loss…

Anyone who with a blind eye can see BG is winning because oceanic coverage times. 99% of those are Sanctum of Rall players staying up late. By 1AM PST, there is no queue on anything, 3/4 maps outmanned. Last night was an exception as we held SM so people decided to stay up longer. We did not have outmanned buff, but there was no queue. Hence why when SM was lost everyone finally went to sleep and the outmanned buff appeared.

I don’t really struggle against other thieves, and thieves are best harasses due to the amount of players in that area, more targets to pull of CnD. If you want to beat him, you need to party up, and watch your surroundings, people complain about theifs, but I am a thief with low defence and I still down backstab or condition thieves..

So the answer to beating a thief is partying up? How many people should it take to be able to beat 1? Isn’t that the definition of over powered?

I think what he means is you need a party to catch him and coordinate. Obviously the thief(unless he is VERY skilled) is not going to kill all of you, and in a 1v1, it’s pretty fair. Thieves are squirmy little dudes. Catching him is the hard part.
