If you only log in to do dailies (some days that’s all I do, but generally if I’m strapped for time) and that’s it, then I hate to say it but you have exhausted your personal limit for what GW2 can offer. You should play something else. If you don’t like to do WvW, sPvP, dungeons, leveling alts, etc. and feel dailies are the only thing keeping you playing, then what the heck are you still doing logging in?

If/when I get to that point, I will likely stop as well. GW2 is what you make of it. I get a kick out of competing for achievement points with guildmates. To me that’s my end-game right now. Other people don’t care about achievement points, and that’s fair too. Different strokes for different folks you know?

"Play The Way You Want"

I don’t know. I went by the definition Anet gave when they explained it. It means that you can get to max level and max gear in a variety of ways. For example…

You can get exotic armor and weapons by doing WvW, or by doing dungeons, or by doing world events, or even just staying in a starter zone and doing dailies (though you’d eventually have to go to Orr to get the karma exotics with it).

That’s what Anet said it means in more than one interview. Why shouldn’t I believe them?

I’d say this is most accurate. You can max your character out through a variety of different avenues. Obviously no game can claim to let you do everything any way you want. I mean, what if I want to hit 80 by killing ambients? Should I be kitten Anet didn’t make this possible? Should I scream “BUT YOU SAID I CAN LEVEL ANYWAY I WANT!”? Nope. What if I want to level up by just doing TP transactions, or level up from number of whispers made.

Anet has to set parameters. I can tell you that the 3 level 80s I have were all leveled differently. My first was leveled through hearts and events, my second mostly from crafting and WvW, my 3rd was leveled also through hearts and events but in zones level 50 and below. I just got caught up in those zones and with scaling just jumped around lower level zones. Not sure why, I just did it that way.

My 4th character I’m duoing with my GF the entire way and has mostly leveled up doing the Living Story stuff exclusively.

I consider this being able to play my way. But what about the daily options!! They force me to play the way Anet wants me to play!! I hate rules!!

Dailies are optional people. Don’t try to claim Anet doesn’t let you play your way because the optional dailies are more structured. That isn’t quite what Anet had in mind when they said play your way.

I have no problem with the system now. I’ve already resigned to the fact I will never purchase RNG stuff from the gem store after getting burned in the past. It’s really that simple. I still plan on buying gems for other items on the gemstore (non-RNG), but any of those chests, absolutely not. That’s problem solved.

Not sure why so many people continue to get burned with RNG gem store purchases like they haven’t learned their lessons the first couple of times. I’m also not sure why people get so kitten ed they vow to quit or never spend another penny in the gemstore. Isn’t the RNG the problem? There are other purchases available that are not RNG and likely will be more in the future. Also, from casually playing I’ve obtained at LEAST 350 coffers. And when I say casual I mean 1-2hrs each day just doing dailies, killing holos, doing events. Anyone serious enough about getting coffers for the chance of the ticket could get far more chances. From what I understand once you get in the 2000-3000 range and haven’t gotten a ticket yet, that you are quite unlucky and no longer in the norm. Since everyone is just claiming BS on their coffer numbers there is no way to prove this.

I promise that almost everyone who has said “I’ve opened thousands and got nothing! Anet sucks!!!” has only opened a few hundred but want to make their points anyway.

Ah so the OP is one of those quitters that we all rage about in Dragonball.. your no better than an AFK’er imo…. should ANET ever learn to test and play out their content to notice the flaws, maybe then they will consider introducing penalties to fit the crime.
No one likes to waste there time.. but to freely advertise doing the very thing that creates the very issues with DB in the first place deserves some poetic justice!

I wouldn’t say he’s no better than the AFK’ers. As someone who has been on the AFK’ers team, I can tell you it is not worth the time to let the other team farm for kills. Everyone wants to have an enjoyable experience and it’s 0% enjoyable when you are guaranteed to lose from the start. I don’t blame anyone for wanting to leave. AFK’ers are the problem. Specifically the achievement simply for completing games since it pushes people to do it.

I’m with Trogdor on this one, I think level 80s should bow out of that zone if people actually trying to level up and do content would like to get some kills.

I have been guilty of farming low level zones, but generally while helping out a low level guildie. I can tell you first hand that tell him to tag things to get credit works for about 2 mobs. If it requires even a little bit of running to get into range it’s too late. I can 2 shot pretty much everything and I’m not even dps specced. On many occasions I would accidentally wipe a room and realize my guildie tagged like one thing.

The solution would be for people to be decent and if asked in /map chat to not get offended but to a) group up with those in the area and maybe work together, or b) if you are 80 and in a starter zone, actually look for another place to farm. No, you don’t HAVE to, but seriously, don’t be a kitten about it…

Dragonball, no team balance

B) Balance is a real issue. You pretty much join, see if you are in the afk’ers group, leave, rejoin a new instance, see if you’re in the afk’ers group, leave, rejoin a new instance, etc. I’ve rarely been in a game where it was an even fight the whole way through. The few times it has been, come next round, it’s one-sided again.

Allowing pre-made teams will make it even more one-sided. I can tell you that any team with slight coordination dominates in Dragon Ball. That’s why you can’t pre-make teams.

You will have people complaining about being forced to farm 500+ of something to get what they want.

I hate to say it but I have to agree with Anet with the way they are handling these skins. If you put them on the gemstore then the item loses its exclusivity. I mean honestly, if you got one from RNG, you will feel so much more awesome about that item knowing how difficult it is for literally everyone else to get it than if you got it from RNG but know people can just buy them on the store anyway. It’s like those armor sets that are on the gem store. I bought that heavy armor set thinking it looked awesome. Then I saw tons of people with the same set and I felt like I had completely wasted all of my money. I banked the set and haven’t worn it since.

When I see anyone with the weapons you get from RNG I think to myself “daaang, lucky kittenhole!” I think that’s the response Anet wants for these skins.

But who knows, maybe they will make them available on store so that everyone and their cousin has one.

Staff is your main problem. It’s a decent weapon, but DPS on it is very limited unless the things you are fighting stand completely still.

I would recommend dagger/dagger with fire element. I tear things up. You have to get to mid-close range, which means be extra careful due to squishiness, but if you can master dodging you will see a huge DPS increase.

Getting Frustrated & Disappointed With GW2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Draknar.5748

Draknar.5748

Man, did anyone here play Lineage2? Anyone who says GW2 is a grind seriously has never grinded (ground?) before.

Like has been said before, there’s just no way to avoid some kind of repetitive grind in an MMO. Many casual players won’t hit that problem, but almost every hardcore (3-4hrs+/day) will hit this wall. You will have explored all of the content by now and what the heck else do you expect? This literally happens in EVERY MMO! I’ve played 10+ by now starting with UO, and I can tell you, they all end up with some kind of grind.

No game can constantly have novel, fresh content for every type of player. The only difference in GW2 is that the grind is avoidable because you don’t HAVE to get those skins. In other games you HAVE to grind in order to get the necessary stats to tackle the next batch of content, or you HAVE to grind just to level in a reasonable timeframe.

GW2 took both of those requirements out and now what we’re left with is optional grind if you choose to do it.

Leveling 1-80 is no grind, you level at basically the same pace the entire time. Dungeons don’t necessarily have to be a grind unless you want the entire set. And let’s say you do want the entire dungeon set, because you know what, some people do and that’s understandable!

Of actual grinding to get that dungeon set, what are we talking about here? An hour or two per 60 tokens (most times much, much faster)? Do the math and we’re looking at what? 3-4 runs per piece, 6 pieces, 24 runs (on the high end), so maybe 24-hrs of total “grinding” that can be done over the course of weeks? In reality a full set can be “grinded” in less than a week by a hardcore player (3 paths/day), less than 2 weeks by a medium player (1-2 paths/day), and certainly less than a month for a casual player (1 path/day or less).

When you actually look at it in perspective, saying dungeon gear is a grind makes you guys sound like whiny babies.

Now legendary…that’s a grind…

I’ve sort of seen this. I wouldn’t say I’ve ever been in a zone that was completely empty, but I’ve certainly been in zones where one or two people running by is about all you see. Until I start an event and then people seem to show up out of nowhere.

I find duo-ing the best PvE experience. Luckily my GF plays so we just roam around doing events, hearts, killing random things. Having two people makes things significantly more enjoyable since you aren’t alone when you are downed.

Not everyone can do this, but I have found it makes things more fun.

Craft. No one is in open areas, because they are horrible for time/reward. Its actually faster to craft to 80 vs open world. The time you spend leveling, could be used for CoF runs, and CoF will pay for your crafting ++ more. So no self respecting player will do open world leveling. Saying its “Fun” isnt an argument. History has shown people in this game arent in it for “fun”, they are in it for progression, loot, etc.

No self-respecting player just does crafting to level to 80….what a boring waste of time. Craft to 80 then do unending CoF runs? Seriously? Why do you even play this game lol. I have 5 level 80s, all leveled from open world. Crafting for levels is what lame players do that want to speed level so they can farm dungeons. I mean…do you really find that enjoyable? I bet you hate this game.

Lets lose the downed = bad player stigma

Draknar.5748

I play Guardian and I am downed every now and then. Generally there’s an obvious reason why (dodged the wrong direction, missed a stability, etc.) But sometimes it is legitimately unavoidable to get downed. The important part is whether or not you can get yourself up without requiring someone else to help you. Frequency is also important.

I’m a pretty patient fellow. I remember playing a FotM 10 with a PUG and one guildie. This one elementalist, clearly a fotm pro (infused capacitor, fractal weap) completely blew it every dungeon. At least 10-15 downed states each dungeon. The elementalist apologized almost every time she went down too. “I don’t know what the heck is going on! Sorry guys I swear this doesn’t usually happen!” No one berated her, no one said omg you sux! We just moved on. Mostly because we 4manned most of the encounters, but you know what, I’m no snob and I’ve had off days too, so why be a jerk about it. I won’t lie I did start eye-rolling eventually when I would revive, then 10secs later have to run over to revive again, but that’s how you learn and I have the patience to deal with it.

Moral is: people will have off days, people will be new to encounters, people makes mistakes. Being downed is not a big deal to me. If you are constantly dying then that’s a different problem, but don’t be a complete jack@$$ when someone is downed while playing. If you are experienced in their class, offer suggestions. Don’t just insult them. That’s common decency, though, so it may be lost on the Internet crowd.

On inconsistent and paradoxical game design

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Draknar.5748

I’m going to put this really simply.

Other games: you literally have to grind to see new content or else your gear is not powerful enough to do the content.

GW2: Zero, none, nada need to grind to see all content in the game. Nearly max stat game is extremely easy to get.

Distorting logic that somehow you must grind because the appearance of your gear isn’t the sparkliest of them all is just a bad argument.

Other games just have a different treadmill type, sure you can’t progress through content in other games till you get the stats, but here you can’t progress through sparkles to get the armor/weapon/stat set you want. It’s just a different set of rules. Of course GW2 has both, just not at end game. Try running 80 content in 40 gear.

The treadmill implies you HAVE to constantly upgrade gear else be unable to see new content. I don’t think treadmill is the phrase you want to use to describe what GW2 is creating. Requiring a grind to get new skins isn’t really a treadmill. GW2 is breaking the typical gear grind mold and the BiS gear grinders aren’t able to wrap their heads around it.

Currently we have the casual max stat gear: Exotic. The casual hard-core player max stat gear: Ascended (of which only accessories are available). And the hard-core max stat gear (which isn’t max stat currently, but supposedly will have stats raised at some point): Legendary.

You will have a fantastic point if we see additional types of gear added after Legendary, but as it stands, it’s a stretch say that GW2 has a gear treadmill. Adding new skins without better stats isn’t a treadmill. They are just creating more aesthetic options from which to choose.

Yep, but according to the vocal minority, nearly max stat gear means you might as well not play at all. If it isn’t BiS then we’re all wasting our time playing. It’s the raider’s mentality. I blame WoW (of course). No one seems to care that you can see every bit of content, every boss fight, every dungeon, every single thing in this game without max stat gear. You can do all content with full Rare, you don’t even really need that! Heck, in most cases you don’t even need to be max level to do new content!

All of that is wasted on the BiS losers.

@OP
Those skins they make also cost them money to make, and its their job from which they make a living just like you do with your job.
Also, RNG boxes are nothing new its their model for quite a while (dating back to gw1 too, even when there wassnt cash shop there were rng boxes durring holiday seasons). Nobody is forcing you to buy them, you wanted new skin so you bought them. So you bought rng boxes, didnt get what you expected and you would like your money back? Really?
Like a guy that bought lottery ticket, didnt hit jackpot and wants his money back…Some people should learn to spend money with responsibility.

I don’t think he wants his money back. I think he’s just kitten ed lol. And rightly so. I personally don’t have a problem with a paid RNG box. My problem is that any intelligent person would like to have an idea what sort of odds they have at winning. If the odds are like lottery chances then people are making an informed, albeit a stupid, decision to purchase them. By not saying what the odds are, people get burned and don’t want anything to do with it after the first experience.

It’s the same as lottery. You know what your chances are and do it anyway. If you lose you have no one to blame but yourself. In this case, you hope the chances are decent, when you find out they aren’t, you’re out some $$ and rightly so, but that is absolutely NO way to keep people purchasing that particular store item. You can’t blame yourself the first time because you really didn’t know how well your chances were from the start. Now the second time you get burned that’s all on you. You should have learned the first time.

I guarantee that as time goes on they will have burned enough people that RNG boxes will stop selling and they will change it.

Right now I think the game is too early and there are far too many people trying it to learn how bad it actually is so they keep doing it.

There’s a new convert every day, though, I can assure you of that.

My crystal ball says that in 1 year they will either post % chances for items in the RNG boxes and/or those items will be able to be purchased individually at much higher gem costs. It’s really the only sensible way to do it.

I don’t think he’s unintelligent for being ripped off, just uninformed. The lottery legally has to tell you the odds of winning, Anet should have to as well. Would you buy RNG boxes with real money if they told you the weapon skin drop is 1/10000? Odds are you wouldn’t. This is the same reason the lottery is regulated. Some people would see that and say “heck I like those odds! I’m buying 100!” Many will see it and think “that’s…pretty terrible…no thanks”.

He shouldn’t have assumed the RNG would be better since he paid money, but I’d be angry as well (been in his shoes) and have not spent one red cent on any RNG items in the gem store since.

It is not like you NEED the skins from the boxes anyway.

Your argument is invalid. It is never about what people need, but about what people WANT. They don’t need to play GW2 at all. You can say that pretty skins are optional but they are the things that keep people playing. Basically “You don’t need to have a house – you can live in a dumpster” is pretty much what you just said.

RNG boxes will stay as long as there will be people that are willing to spend 75-100$ to try and get a ticket for weapon they want. This RNG exists because it is profitable. If you want it gone then stop buying gems as long as those boxes will exist.

Or Anet could add weapon tickets for 600-800 gems. This way people who like to gamble could have the chests and people who want to get the weapon ASAP could just buy the ticket.

I agree with you here. Anet should be doing everything in their power to retain the players that actually spend money in the gem store. I personally have dished out at least $250.00 since the game started. When they start making PAYING customers unhappy, that’s when they are going to have a problem. The paid RNG boxes are terrible, but like scratch-offs they are addicting.

If I wanted to play the lottery I would. Seriously I’ve won more from scratch-offs the few times I’ve done them than from anything Anet has done.

Make the RNG boxes significantly cheaper to purchase and like krall said, for 800-1200 you can buy the ticket directly. The chests will still be popular because there are other unique items you can get besides the ticket.

I keep missing out on getting these great weapon skins and its not for lack of trying, paying money, farming, etc. There’s nothing more frustrating than spending real money and/or running content for hours and hours to get nothing and a guild mate runs something once and gets a weapon ticket. I’m happy for him but boy it’s like a slap in the face for an active player that 100% contributes to the financial stability of the game. Makes me want to close up my wallet which does not = smart business. I know I’m not the only one who thinks this way.

whoever says that most part of getting a legendary is playing the game normally except for lodestone, i want to know how normally playing you can get 750 pile of crystalline dust to craft bifrost…
because in my normal gameplay i managed to have 100ish and this when loot and farming weren’t nerfed…
after the nerf i had to buy all of it and/or had it from friends

But you’ve made gold and you can buy mats.

Someone still has to farm those mats. And i’d have to farm gold, because if i were just to “play normally”, then the prices would rise faster still, and i’d be always behind. And if you nerf the farming spots, then you’d get the current Crystalline Dust problem, where the supply is nowhere close to the demand.

In most MMOs the road to top level gear is raiding. Period. End of story. They wanted people to be able to level and attain gear multiple ways, no matter their play style. So you could get gear through karma by doing events. Or WvW. Or just doing dungeons over and over. Or just by doing dailies. That’s what play your own way meant.

Except they abandoned that approach when they introduced ascended. Karma and crafting would not get you those. No amount of dailies or guild missions or WvW would get you an ascended backpack. No amount of dungeon running will get you even one piece of ascended eq… unless it’s Fractals (and even then, no earrings or amulets for you). face it, it’s no longer the “play your own way within the framework we provided”. It’s “play this content, and this one, ooh, and this one. And do not even try to skip on anything, we can’t have that.”. I’m still waiting for WvW-only ascended pieces. Or some that will be locked to some new niche gameplay.

That’s just the way it is now. They staged ascended item releases. I guarantee in the future you will be able to get an ascended back piece without Fractals (you can anyway with the Sclerite backpack).

But I don’t see how this is any different than any other MMO. I’ve played them all, and I can tell you that best attainable gear for a casual player and best attainable gear for a hardcore gamer are always different. If you want to play casually you can get full exotics and most ascended accessory items. If you want full ascended accessory items then you have to do more specific content, it’s that simple. Casual gamers are going to miss out on the ~5% stat increase that the one or two ascended pieces they currently can’t get gives you.

In WoW if you want the BiS, you will have to raid. That’s it. If you weren’t hardcore enough to raid, or don’t like group content, then too bad. In Aion if you didn’t like to do PVP and/or your side was constantly losing, then you will NOT get the BiS gear and not only that it rewards those that are better geared while punishing less geared.

I don’t get what the problem is. It’s like you people want everything as fast as possible as easy as possible or else the game is broken…

Anet wants people to take years to get legendaries, not months! That much is obvious with the mat requirements. You want it now you farm for it else save your money and you can acquire mats over time. Either way no complaining is necessary.

In my opinion, Infusions are going too far

To far you saying?

50% of ppl spending 95% of thier time in WvW, fighting for server. They dont do fractals, bosses, and others instances, so thats why they will now get infusions for WvW. If you want to have everything, is natural, that you need to farm wvw,pve etc to get everything.

stop crying, this is pathetic.

I’m not complaining about that we can now get infusions in WvW, I’m actually glad about that, but about how we are headed towards needing a separate set accessories, and possibly armor and weapons once ascended versions of those are added, for every area of the game, not just for every build we use.

Only if you simply MUST have BiS in every possible facet of this game. If that’s the case then yes you will need a separate set of accessories (and at some point armor when ascended armor comes out whenever that is) for each different area you’d like to be in. For me personally I feel my full set of exotic and ascended accessories will do me just fine in WvW. I really don’t care if someone has an infusion over me. Skill trumps that difference any day of the week lol.

They will be marginally better stat-wise, who cares…

Why a precursor scavenger hunt?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Draknar.5748

Draknar.5748

why not make the scavanger hunt this way:

Need!:
100% world completion — award 2 gifts + 1 extra item (item A)
all dungeons complete -- award item B
all crafts mastered on 1 account — award item C
whole personal story -- award pact token + 1 extra item (item D)

combine item A+B+C+D in MF to get a precursor device.

now combine that device with 3 exotic items of type precursor you want.
eg. 3 exotic daggers+ device = spark
3 exotic shields + device = the chosen
etc.

BUT!!!! make the precursor you get account bound!! this wont ruin the market and give people the option to get 1 (one only) precursor to make first legendary.
if they want seconds you have to go back to farming/MF a precursor.

I like the way you think! The precursor is just one hard to accomplish requirement on the path to legendary. I mean Onyx Lodestones, 250 of all T6 mats, 100 Icy Runestones for 1g each from vendor, all of these will still be required (depending on what weapon you want), precursor or not and they all require a lot of farming and/or money on TP. I think Nightly here has the best option for getting a precursor. Accomplish a bunch of tasks in game that are attainable but take effort. In the end you get ONE piece of the legendary puzzle. You still will need 200-300g for the rest of the stuff you need, which is not easy for the majority of players.

Hmm, I personally do the Clover x10 recipe and have gotten 50 clovers in roughly 15 attempts. If you are legitimately claiming you only got 1 clover in 100 attempts then you, sir, are at the extreme of the RNG and that really sucks. Might be worth doing the x10 recipe in the future instead of doing one at a time. Just put 10x of the mats in the forge.

The game's economy

I like to do a combo of TP, farm, and gem purchasing for my money. I have a rule though. I won’t spend any more per month on the gem store than I would have in a P2P MMO. To craft a legendary takes gold, no way to avoid that, it is what it is. While I’m playing the TP and doing CoF runs or fotm, I will once a month buy $20.00 in gems then wait until they are at the peak to sell them for additional gold. I use that gold to invest more into TP.

Sometimes I blow the gems on actual purchases, which means no additional gold that month, but I have a decent income to allow for that.

I have no qualms with giving money to Anet. I thoroughly enjoy their F2P game, so I will reward them with $$. It’s like when I reeeeally like a particular artist. I will refuse to download their music for free but rather pay for it. It just feels right to me. They deserve something for the pleasure they give me.

Works the same with me and Anet. They make a game I like. They don’t ask me to pay money to play it. So I donate money to help them create more content and be successful.

I feel as though I am part of a large minority of players that do this which is essentially what keeps this game in the black.

So….you’re welcome for covering purchases for you guys who feel paying money for stuff is omg ridiculous. I can afford to carry you guys.

I’ve levelled a few characters through there and I’ve never seen anyone do Gargantula (including myself). Never even tried it. There usually are a few people working on the big event chain through the camps though. And there is a big daily chest at the end of that.

Might just be your time zone.

And I agree there should be one or two more Asura gates around. The one to Fields of Ruin is nice to have.

I’d say that’s because Gargantula was bugged since launch, and as far as I know it still is. I tried it a couple of months ago, the dumb spider reset constantly just like it did when I first tried him not long after launch. You literally couldn’t kill it. I swore to never waste my time on it again.

Dailies by their very nature are going to be things you have to go out of your way to complete.

Sure there are some lucky combinations of dailies that happen to finish themselves without thinking about it, but overall the dailies have a 24hr window to complete to get the rewards. This is how it works in EVERY game with a daily. If you have a set time to complete something, you will be compelled (or “forced” for OP and those that agree with him) to do it.

The good thing about Guild Wars 2 dailies is that you can actually do a large majority without planning it. When I finish playing my hour and a half or so, I take a look at what my daily progress is. Most of the time I just need 15-20% of 1 or 2 categories to finish it up. Why the heck would anyone complain about this! That’s SOOOOO easy.

Guardian is pretty fun to do JP with if someone is trying to grief you. Especially with Staff and Scepter as weapons, assuming you just want to do the JP and not fight them.

The staff #5 ability is great to set up at the very edge of a jump. Then jump and when they follow bam, down the JP. Or time an immobilize right and it messes them up too.

If you are doing the JPs in enemy territory you really do need to assume you will be attacked on sight relentlessly. I know I do it when I"m doing my BL JP and I see an enemy. I will make sure to give them a hell of a time, it’s pretty much assumed as far as I know. It also makes you chuckle a bit when you know they have to release all the way back to the south and run back, but that’s kinda the point of WvWvW.

3 80s here and I can honestly say leveling was smooth and easy. I didn’t even notice I hit 80 on my latest character, I was just playing with my gf, wandering around zone to zone, hitting DEs as I get to them, maybe do a heart, but generally just playing anyway I want. Haven’t even been in a zone past level 60 difficulty on this character because I had so much fun in the under 60 zones.

I think what helped me the most was that I got my 100% completion done on my main, so for all subsequent characters I really don’t care about doing things I don’t want to do.

It’s quite liberating for someone like me who was OCD about completion the first time around.

I did this with my Guardian when I needed the skill point. Wait until he’s furthest away on patrol, lure him decently far, immobilize with scepter, then book it like crazy to the SP (Retreat! is decent for this). You should have an aegis up already so absorb one attack if he gets to you before you’re done. Be ready to put up another aegis with your virtue (since it doesn’t break what you’re doing) and you should get it pretty easily.

Do your Mystic Clovers early I’d say. If you fail to get Clovers from the recipe it can give a chance to give 20-50 (with the x10 recipe) of any T6 mat or other item (I got 20 ectos from one last night. This will help to knock out a good chunk of those T6 mats. Odds are you will get all 77 of the Clovers you need before getting 250 of each T6 mat, but I can tell you that getting 50-100 of each T6 mat while trying to get Mystic Clovers certainly helped a ton.

Loot and EXP

I’m gonna go ahead and call BS on Rune. Everything he is saying is 100% the opposite of how it works in game and I think he knows that. He’s trying to rile people up.

Rune, everyone in this forum is saying you are wrong. I’ve played this game since early release and I am telling you that what you are saying is wrong. You do not understand the mechanics of the game, and that’s OK. But if you’re going to argue with literally everyone here that has played the game longer than you and knows significantly more than you, then you, sir, are ignorant.

If you are adding the Bonus XP in with your calculations from one mob to the next then you are already doing it wrong. Bonus XP has already been explained. What kind of XP do you get when you don’t include bonus XP. Kill one level 17 mob, take a screen cap with what it says, or even use combat chat tab. Then kill another identical level 17 mob right next to it and screen cap it. Then party up with someone, have you BOTH kill another level 17 mob, post that screen cap.

As far as loot goes: that’s just plain wrong what you are saying. Sometimes the mob glows and only gives you money, not loot. So if you don’t pay attention it looks like you got nothing. I have played in many parties and have literally had 3 people loot the same mob and get different items. You are just so wrong it hurts my face. I’m sure I"m not alone here. Please let a dev clarify this once and for all.

I am feeling a lot like this guy

I honestly feel the exact opposite. I hated being omgepicpowerful in lower level zones. Everything greyed out, nothing engages me, I can literally run through monsters.

If that’s the experience you want, you unfortunately won’t find it with GW2.

The whole premise of GW2 is that the whole world is one big place where everyone is on even playing ground regardless of level. Obviously some areas are inaccessible due to level, but at level 80 when you can travel everywhere, all of it is scaled to be a challenge.

I mean honestly, why would centaurs in one area be 50x stronger than centaurs in another area? They wouldn’t. As a warrior everything should be cake to kill anyway, so if you can kill 5-6 mobs solo, isn’t that powerful enough for you? Do you really want to be able to one-shot mobs and just feel like some god in these lower level zones?

By the way if you take your fully geared 80 to a starter zone, you will destroy things in 1-2 shots, so you do get to feel a little bit like a badkitten. Just stick to those areas.

I honestly like how each zone can be challenging (or at least not numbingly easy) regardless of level. I want that giant champion boss from that level 30 zone to still be a challenge (unless there are so many freaking people there that they die in 2secs like some of the world bosses). Just because your character has shiny armor and new skills shouldn’t mean now this 50 ton monster is a joke to kill. No, it should be easier, but still difficult.

Pretty sure thats what the devs were going for

Just make the precursor the last thing that you do. There is SO much other stuff to get for the legendary that there’s no sense in worrying about it right now. I want to have the 3/4 items I need and maybe by that time I will have saved enough money for a precursor, possibly have gotten one by chance from a chest drop, or maybe they will have implemented this precursor quest deal.

The Onyx Lodestones right now are the biggest headache. It used to be Ectos but I seem to have a decent system for getting those so eventually I’ll be set. But lodestones holy smokes.

Rune I think you don’t know what you’re talking about. It’s OK to be confused. I’ve played solo and with a group and my xp doesn’t seem to change. If anything I think I get more XP from being in a group lol, we kill stuff faster and get same or similar amount of XP. Not only that, everyone loots separately and no money or items are split.

Additionally, Like Ruprect said, this game is almost a joke it’s so easy to solo. I think you might just be in an area too hard for you? In this game 1-2 levels above makes a difference. Try to stick with stuff your level.
