I have noticed a pretty big drop in players around for events, however I’ve never had any trouble soloing events.
Luckily for me I play with a partner almost exclusively so I never really feel alone. I’ve also got a pretty strong guild that I’m a part of that goes out of their way to hang out with people that aren’t 80 yet. If there’s a champion or something that needs killing and I can’t duo it (which often times we can duo champions (guardian/ele)), I just guild message for some to come help me kill a champion and 2-3 people will group up with us, port over, and help me out.
I guess that would be the guild part of GUILD Wars. Find a decent guild and you should be good to go. They make all the difference. If you’re a loaner who strictly does PUG stuff, then you may find yourself wanting more.
We do regular guild dungeon runs too which makes for a much more pleasant experience.

Just hit level 60 and I’ve got 6g50s. I also have 300+ armorsmith and keep buying things I probably don’t need on the broker.
I also sell all mats I don’t use for my professions on the trade broker. Helps me break even on the stuff I do buy on the broker.
I’d say the gold I have is roughly average as I play with my gf and she’s also 60 with closer to 7.5g (but does no crafting).

Necros have a speed buff. #5 skill with a warhorn offhand. Just as good as anyone else’s and has a decently short CD.

I’m pretty much with everyone else here. It’s a $60.00 one time purchase game that I’ve already put in over 120hrs and am still enjoying myself. Whether or not I continue to play it for years would not change the fact that I already feel it was worth the money. I mean, how many games have you dished out the same money for that gave ~20hrs of gameplay. Darksiders/DS2 come to mind. I’ve already blown twice the money on that franchise as this one game and beat both in a fraction of the play time I’ve gotten out of this and I’m STILL not at 80!
Playing a B2P MMO isn’t something you get second thoughts about. You have no additional investment into it.

This is a really easy question to answer: play a starter area that neither of you has completed? If you’ve literally played EVERY 1-15 zone then you’re SOL, but if not, have both of you travel to the Norn area, or the Charr area, or the Asura area, and play there.
That’s what I did with my friends. Kept it fresh for both of us.

You aren’t paying monthly for this game. You paid $60.00 just like any other game (excluding CE). I’ve bought plenty of games that gave me, gee I dunno, 8-10hrs of gameplay before it was over, and then its OVER. No PvP, no extra items to work towards, no grinding to complain about. Just $60.00 wasted.
At least in this game if you play casually, you could get 100s of hours of play time. I’ve got a 53 and a 46 and I’m sitting right at 110hrs play time. Not one of those hours did I feel was wasted. I’d say that’s a pretty good return on my investment…
I mean, if I was paying monthly, cough cough WoW, and still wasn’t enjoying myself, I’d feel like an idiot, cough cough WoW players. Almost every WoW player I know (pre-MoP) had an account that they rarely logged on if at all. They’d log on, maybe do some dailies, then log off. Yea THAT’S a good use of $15.00/mo…
I’d rather get bored of a game that I don’t have to pay for anymore than get bored of a game that has cost me hundreds of dollars lol.

I transmute my stuff ALL the time and I still have 30 transmutation stones and 10 Fine transmutation stones in my bank.
You’re doing something wrong if you’re running out of them. You can also roll alts and stick transmute stones in the bank for your main to use.
There’s really no reason not to be able to change your appearance whenever you want, they give you more than enough supply of stones to get it done.

Yea Ele is ridiculously versatile. There is no need for a buff. It requires SIGNIFICANTLY more work than other classes, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be awesome.

Courage is NOT useless. It has saved my butt so many times! Especially with Renewed focus. When you’re running dungeons or fighting champions, it can mean the difference of life and death. I use it constantly. Since there are no dedicated tanks or healers, you have to be creative in how to keep yourself alive. ESPECIALLY for guardians who have the least amount of health out of every profession in the game.
Blocking damage is the only way you can successfully stand against strong foes. It is what makes up for our admittedly terrible life pool (my Necro has twice the HP of my guardian and they are the same level).
Every 40 secs I get an aegis, with my spec I am healed each time it is broken. On top of that we’ve got the heal that blocks all damage while you heal, which is kind of like an aegis at that moment. You’ve also got Sanctuary which is another heal and block and can envelop allies as well. Then you’ve got Virtue of Courage, blocks another attack, Renewed Focus which makes you invuln for 3 secs (another block), and then Virtue of Courage is back up for another aegis (block). Then you’ve got two dodges for evades.
You should be able to avoid taking a LOT of damage that other classes with more health would be unable to. Health saved is health earned, amirite?

Not sure what issues you are having with Guardian. It’s probably the easiest (and most fun!) class to play PvE, PvP is a whole different story. Stickied at the top is a fantastic Guadian guide. I can’t recommend it enough to give a read-through.
From my experience doing PvE, rock the Greatsword. It owns everything. You can close distance and AoE. Single target I actually enjoy the sword/torch combo.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Yea….dungeons aren’t meant to be easy. They aren’t meant to be completed easily by people who PUG. Why don’t you join an active guild and run it with them rather than complaining about not being able to find a group after an hour of spamming.
I’ts called GUILD Wars for a reason…
The token armor SHOULD be hard to get. When you see people with it you should automatically realize that they went through hardships to get it. I do believe some of the requirements are a bit high (330 tokens for a piece? Yeesh lol). I think increasing drop rate will solve that problem. But the casual player needs to understand that they won’t be able to get EVERYTHING that the hardcore players can get.
What would be the incentive to play hardcore if casual players could get all of that stuff anyway?
This is coming from someone who is a casual gamer. I’ve been playing since early release and I’ve only got a 52 Guardian and 46 Necro. I fully expect hardcore players to get the coolest stuff. Casual players can get cool stuff too, don’t get me wrong, but if you want EVERYTHING to be available to casual gamers then I believe there are some Pandas that would welcome you with open arms.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the dungeon system in this game as far as I see. I did AC story for the first time ever last night and sure there were some parts we weren’t prepared for but seriously after wiping once we figured out where we went wrong and completely owned it the second time around.
Especially in AC you need to utilize those boulders. They are scattered around for a reason. Zerging will most likely get you killed, you need to dodge, kite, work with your teammates to keep them up, don’t blow all of your skills right away, sometimes there IS a proper timing needed to blind, immobilize, etc..
As a guardian I had no problem tanking things for A WHILE. Between aegis, dodging, sanctuary, renewed focus, aegis, more dodging, that blocking heal. If you lose aggro, weapon swap and pull back with greatsword.
This is just ONE example of a profession being able to contribute to the team with just a little bit of effort. Don’t just watch the mobs health bar while you spam all your skills and then wonder why you died in three hits.
Unfortunately in order to do things without wiping a bunch you NEED to have experienced players. You can’t have people that are just stacking power on everything and think they can just blast things down WoW style. It doesn’t work like that.
I know while doing normal leveling up I’d see skills that would turn boons into conditions on enemies or vice versa on allies and I’m like, when the heck would I ever need that garbage. Here’s your answer.
The idea of Guild Wars is to join a guild. You can’t PUG everything and expect to get as far as those that join a guild and are active. I hop on my guild’s vent and we actually plan how we will go forward with each room and especially each boss.
Like that boss fight with the two lovers. We had one person dedicated on boulders knocking them down. Whoever has aggro kites (depending on armor level), I would take as much damage as I could until I had to sanctuary then I would kite.
It really wasn’t that bad.
I think the problem is that players expect to be able to breeze through things if they are high level and have high level gear, rather than having to actually think about what skills they are using.
You WILL wipe, you will probably wipe a whole lot until you gain the experience to do it easily. We call that learning.

Probably should have mentioned I play a power/crit Necro. Use axe mostly. Staff is my alternate. On Fort Aspenwood I have no problem medaling on world bosses. Must be different on other servers.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
I guess nobody wants to use weapon swap on a necro to make up for the loss in bleed damage? I realize you specced bleed, but if there are too many bleeds on the target, then why sit there and be like “omg I’m doing no bleed damage” spam bleed spam bleed “wow this sucks” spam bleed spam bleed, auto attack, spam bleed. “they need to fix this” spam bleed spam bleed, auto attack.
Why not spam bleed spam bleed, auto attack, spam bleed, weapon switch, dps skills dps skills dps skills, auto attack, weapon swap, spam bleed spam bleed, auto attack, spam bleed, weapon swap…etc..
If some bleeds land and some don’t, so what?
Is it because its more work?
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Seems everyone has the same line of thinking as I do. You can’t really quit GW2 and make an impact, you aren’t paying them any more money they already have it. Cash models bank on 3 types of players.
Those that purchase absolutely nothing in the cash shop and play bare bones – this applies to 75% of the population.
Those that purchase things here and there, maybe a few times a year – this makes up another 15-17%.
Those that purchase all sorts of things on a regular basis because they have the discretionary income to do so. These are the last 7-10% of players, maybe even less, but make up the majority of the cash shop’s profits. These are your most important players and the ones that end up being the most active and loyal.
The ones that leave to play Pandaland likely will never have invested money into the cash shop anyway, so its no real loss. You made your expected contribution to their coffers and if you want to move on, you can.
The only potential loss is less people on the server, but honestly there are more than enough people who are simply over WoW to keep the servers healthy.

AoE should absolutely NOT be changed. Holy crap that would break the balance. Every class has an AoE of some kind, it would just be mass death if 50+ people could hit everyone at the same time. Would make WvW terrible IMO

I have not witnessed anyone cheating myself, but I know that in other games like Aion that cheating became rampant in the beginning.
I’m confident that if it becomes prominent enough that measures will be taken to ban the cheaters.

Clearly you have not utilized karma armor and transmutation stones…my 40 necro looks kitten in the Gendarran Fields karma armor. See attached pic.
So…yea….pic is not my char, but an example of that armor, which is available in your mid-30s. Roughly 2.5k karma for entire green set.

I respect the opinions of the guys above me, however I would strongly urge you to start using greatsword as your main weapon. The hammer is just so slow. You do become less squishy, but in all honesty I’ve never had a problem being squishy, even with greatsword. We have enough skills to mitigate damage that it offsets the benefits of the hammer.
I’m sure there are specific situations that a hammer would be better than a greatsword, but you can’t compare the pure dps of the GS.

1. Using the invisibility consumables endlessly.
2. Using the portal gun to go inside keeps.
3. Using a catapult behind a keep door to knock back the attackers and destroy rams easily.
4. Using retaliation Guardians to easily destroy arrow carts from a distance.
5. Cross-server and try to confuse the PUGs on the other servers through map chat chat.1.) Valid tactic.
2.) Valid tactic.
3.) Valid tactic.
4.) Valid tactic.
5.) Valid tactic.It’s war, not kindergarten-happy-happy-lala-land-lets-hold-hands-and-sing-Kumbaya.
I don’t understand all this constant whining about “unfair” tactics. Are you jealous that you didn’t come up with them or what’s your problem exactly?
Smart people would simply take note of these tactics (and not spread them to their enemies via the forums) and use them themselves when the need arises.
You guys should go play a serious PVP game once (like EVE Online). Then you’ll see what fighting dirty really means (and how effective it is).
You, sir, have a terrible attitude. I don’t know anyone who would get jealous that someone found an exploit lol. Once its found you can copy the exploit, no one cares who is attributed with the discovery of it. Clearly you are someone that has ticked off his fair share of people because of exploiting. I dare say you’ve probably been temp banned from other games for it, but that’s just speculation and I doubt you would admit it.
But who really cares, this is a F2P game. If it’s not intended it will be fixed.

I actually made my Charr necro as skinny as you could make him. Gives him that emaciated deathly look. Would look odd on a warrior, but great for a Necro.

I think it should just show you what vendor price would be when you’re selling something on TP.
Aion would show you right on the item what it was worth to a vendor. That way you don’t price something like a moron.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Everything on trade post is also dirt cheap! At 41 I completely upgraded my armor for ~8-9silver. I then sold all of my butter, YES BUTTER, for 13s. Open up your collectibles tab and sell the crap you don’t use. If you’re seriously wanting to level up 4 different crafts then you will be poorer than people focusing on two, one, or even none.
Stop salvaging things, sometimes they sell better at vendor.
For all we know you’re an MMO hoarder who’s bank is filled with things you PLAN on using at some point but we all know you never will. Clean house!
I also play LESS than 3 hours a day, I have a full time job and hit the gym every day. I have two characters a 41 guardian and a 36 necro. Each has 2g+. And that’s after buying gems to expand inventory on both characters, and I just bought the level 40 trait skill manual. Yesterday I also made 15 10slot bags to distribute to guildies, at 5s each for the rune of holding, of which I covered since I’m awesome.
Whatever you’re doing, you aren’t doing it efficiently.
At least for now I think you need to look at 1g in GW2 equaling 300g in Pandaland.

Wow, I can’t believe this is even a topic. You seriously want to be able to level from 1 to 80 just doing story line quests? This is an MMO not a single player game. I would seriously quit playing if it was that easy to level. It’s already extremely easy to level if you just do the hearts and an event here and there. I mean, 1 to 80 in 1 week is possible and has been done already.
I remember when you had to play games for 4+ years to get to level max. WoW has created an instant-gratification monster…

Confirmed. Brings up the Event and says to kill him but there’s nothing to kill! Just a crowd of people standing around wondering what they should do. It’s the only thing keeping me from finishing that zone.

I made this same post yesterday. It’s definitely odd and is also on my Charr character. Should be an easy fix to make footprints go the direction you’re moving.
Don’t know if that’s priority considering all of the other complaints though =/
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
I was playing my Charr necro yesterday in Snowden and noticed that while running in the snow my footprints were backwards! Each step seemed to swap the orientation, sometimes they were backwards, sometimes sideways, sometimes diagonal, sometimes normal.
Obviously this isn’t a “bug”, but considering how beautiful the environment is, I figured you’d want to have this little bit of detail addressed.
I can’t imagine it is too hard to make the footprints move in the direction of where you’re running.
